Prosper123:
You don't understand what he is saying. He is talking about the middle class. For example, if you travel round the country, check the living conditions of the middle class in each tribe, even in the demographic of those without probably university education, you will understand what he is saying. Igbos are one of the most people with a teeming middle class because of their businesses all round. If you were a business man you would understand better. This is the advantage of entrepreneurship. For instance, even you have been to Nnewi, the unknown millionaires there who maybe be going about in slippers or Pams are uncountable. Enter any bank there, you will see crowd you can't deal with. Because of the flow of money. Even the mama's there are moving about with money in bags. Police officers like being posted there because of this.
But for instance I entered bank in Osogbo, Osun, I was surprised, not really because of anything but money doesn't flow there. I am not trying to lie here because I'm not a business man again, but a medical personnel though I still have my own business.

Not oil and gas or such where a few would be millionaires and thousands will be receiving meagre 30, 50,80k or so. A business man makes much more than that in hours depending.
Even tribe has what good thing they are known for. Igbos are known with business. It has great advantages and a few disadvantages too. That's is why igbos don't try to worship people because they believe they work their way through in business without external help or government help.
But business minded people are known to be used to some shady ways to make money. Just like China. For a Chinese man to give you 5 dollars, you are in for a long walk. Chinese people even do money rituals for money. That the pros and some cons.
And that's what they are saying here.
If you travel round too, most of the buildings you see in Igbo land were built by indigenes and not by foreigners or government.
For instance, ONITSHA is the city you will see the biggest number of storey buildings, like 3,4,5 storey buildings owned by indigenes in the entire country, even Nnewi. It's a competition there. But like I said it has advantages and disadvantages.
No one bases facts, stats, and information in this 21st century, internet, and information age on " Travel around the country ". travel and see " this is only used and applied jn Iboland and among Ibos of Nigeria, nowhere else in Nigeria and the world at large.
In developed, western counties and nations info and statistics are often used to make financial decisions, investments, and explore opportunities.

The Yoruba fascinations about LAGOS or Ibadan is a costly development strategy I think.

The Yoruba are not developing their rural areas at all,they are fixated on only the cities.

This attitude is even reflected in Lagos were the more traditional Yoruba areas are neglected while the city proper is constantly developing.

The Yoruba have this attitude of copying the Europeans alot which is a big weakness in my opinion. They want to be like the whitemans, have big cities,but they struggling to achieve it which is costing them a heavy and serious neglect of their rural areas.This is probably why Yoruba villages and local towns are grossly undeveloped.

Yorubas should engage more in rural investment, attract it's people back to their local towns and villages.

More investment should be put into rural areas in southwest.

The nigerdeltans are also very guilty of this too
Thank God for the internet..

Ibadan – Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has been named the second fastest growing city in Africa for the year 2022, according to United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) research

In a post by Business Insider through its official Instagram handle; @businessinsiderssa, Ibadan is rated behind Accra, Ghana and above Lagos, which occupies the third position.

The post, which was captioned— “Top Ten Fastest Growing Cities in Africa”, saw two Nigerian cities occupying key positions.

Some of the key metrics of measure listed by UN-Habitat research are; urbanisation, industrialisation, population and job opportunities.

It added that the growth of these cities can be attributed to population boom and increased economic activities.

According to Brahima Coulibaly, Director of Brookings’ Africa Growth Initiative, “About half of the world’s fastest-growing economies will be located on the continent, with 20 economies expanding at an average rate of 5 per cent or higher over the next five years, faster than the 3.6 per cent rate for the global economy.

“By 2050, Africa’s population is anticipated to reach about 2 billion inhabitants, and more economic activities are taking place, counterbalancing the increasing population.”

The list include the following cities: Accra, Ghana , Ibadan, Nigeria, Lagos, Nigeria, Dakar, Senegal, Abidjan, Côte d’voire,
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Luanda, Angola,Kinshasa, DRC,
Nairobi, Kenya and
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Meanwhile, some Nigerian Instagram users have reacted to the ratings, praising the Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde for his quick, impactful and data based policy making. Other users were simply amazed at the list while others refuted it.

Of course, I read you right it's you who doesn't seem to understand simple English.

Ok, let me make this simple for you, Oyo state could be equal to 2-3 states in the SE but Oyo state is nothing close to 2-3 SE states population confirmed.

SE population/figure is not controlled by the number there is. You could have the smallest state and still have more population. Do you understand my simple English now?

Imagine South East had 6 states, what do you think will happen. See the close gap, with just 5 states. They are doing well with 5 states competing with zones that have 6 states
The population has nothing to do with space. If it's so, the SS population should be higher than the SE population or numbers.

For instance, Lagos smallest state in Nigeria( I stand to be corrected ) but its population outnumbered some northern states with huge land mass. grin

dignity33:
Let me further declare my bias here; I am an Igbo man from Anambra State.

A Benin friend told me last week that I support Peter Obi because he's Igbo and from Anambra State! I was actually speechless at his prejudice!

Someone also said it's time we help the Igbos they have suffered so much in this country; I was like seriously?

I still hear some say voting for Peter Obi will be justice for the Igbos; ignorance is really really appalling!

Let me drop a few points here;

If some of the reasons alluded above is why you are supporting Peter Obi, then you are not different from the Tribal Warlords and Religious extremist!

Let me shock you further;

when I was at Abuja last year. I joined a discussion at the Hotel lobby and one Northern guy declared with uncommon arrogance; *" THE IGBOS SHALL CONTINUE TO SUFFER IN THIS COUNTRY, THEY WILL NEVER SMELL THE PRESIDENCY, THEY WILL PAY DEARLY FOR 1966...!"*

I asked him; Do you think the Igbos are suffering in this country? He thundered yes!

I told him my brother, let me help you a little bit; *" THE IGBOS WILL BE THE LAST TO SUFFER IN THIS COUNTRY!"* NO MATTER HOW BAD THIS COUNTY BECOMES THE AVERAGE IGBO BUSINESS MAN IS THE MOST INSULATED!

Everyone turned at me in shock; My Northern guy thundered; it's a lie, it's a lie! Which position do they occupy in this country?

I said let me help your ignorance a little;

Who paid for this Hotel? Your company or yourself? He said his company. I said do you know who owns the Hotel? He said no, I told him. He said then he won't lodge here again. I said my brother from TRANSCORP Hotels Owned by Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu to Bolingo to Chelsea, To Top Rank, To Rockview, to almost 95% of Hotels in Abuja here is owned by the same people you said are suffering!

I told him if you car is bad where do you buy your parts from?

If you are buying books, stationeries, school bags, etc who sells them at the market?

If you want to build where do you buy your building materials from?

I told him, I could go on and on.

I told him even in Port Harcourt, even in Lagos, almost every nook and cranny of this country; *"THE CHANCES THAT YOU WILL SPEND 90% OF YOUR INCOME ON AN IGBO MAN IS AS REAL AS TODAY!"*

Every where became silent! Let me explain why the Igbo man suffering is just a mirage;

The Government makes policy to increase import tariffs; Igbo man goes out import the goods, pays the tariffs and custom duties, afterwards he factors it into the cost of materials. You go to him to buy at the new price. He makes his Normal profit. *"AT THE END THE NEW TARIFF IS PAID BY WHO?* Everyone was shocked!

I told them no matter what Government does it can never affect the average businessman; The average businessman will always make his profit and shift the burden to the purchasers!

The only tribe in this country that have secured their Economy almost 100% is the Igbos. It's only in Igboland where Business and Property ownership is almost 98% owned by them! After they secured their homeland, they also arrive in your domain and in some instances control 50-80% of the entire commercial activities and sometimes upto 15-25% property ownership apart from Abuja they own about 70-75%. *"And you said they are suffering?"*

After about 40minutes of my indepth lecture, my Northern guy became silenced and confused. He suddenly realized that what his political leaders are telling him that we are suffering the igbos is actually boomeranging on them!

To be sincere, 2023 shouldn't be about Justice for the Igbos or it's the turn of the Igbos! How is Katsina after PMB? Go and ask! How did OBJ rule transform the West? Many Southwesterners insist to date that OBJ was never their choice! How did 6-years of Goodluck Jonathan transform BAYELSA?

If Peter Obi campaign goes tribal, I can assure you many people will abandon his campaign including myself!

Peter Obi should be treated on his merit and be given opportunity to rescue this country!

I laughed the other day when Asiwaju declared that he needs well meaning Nigerians to join him and rescue this country! *RESCUE? LIKE SERIOUSLY? FROM WHO?!*
copied.
The OP, you are high on something. Every tribe possessses all of the above mention and mind you, the food sellers, if we are to go by your logic are everyone can not do without. People spend more on food than any thing else. And if we are to go the way of stats I am sure all what you down there would be nothing close to the reality, statistically. And btw, this isn't the way to market your candidate.

I was on here yesterday when some dude who claimed he’s from Akwa ibom was yabbing Ibadan calling her “ filthy and full of brown roofs “ and also extended the courtesy to all the western cities and claimed eastern states and cities are better until I schooled the dross that Ibadan is more developed than any city in the south east and more developed than Uyo his capital city considering all socio-economic variables.

This stat is an indication that Oyo state is one the most economically viable states in Nigeria and it has always been that way for a while and the major reason Oyo state made that list is cos of the economic strength and the purchasing power of the Ibadan people and it’s a clear indication that Ibadan is one of the most developed city in Nigeria socio-economically.it is a structured and balanced city with different sectors and industries functional and working optimally.

N.B. This is wasn’t made to malign any region or city or made to Spark any unhealthy ethnic or tribal rivalry it’s just to buttress the point that Ibadan is a thriving city and correct the ignorance of yesterday’s poster!
