Most of them have never left their village, they barely survive as their little buying and selling barely make sales due to the one destiny they all share ( buying and selling) hence the market is overwhelmed with virtually the same business and competition among themselves.

Can you mention the countries that currently have retaliatory tariffs against export from Nigeria? What exactly are we even exporting out of Nigeria other than crude oil?

You guys really think managing the economy of Nigeria is a joke. Where will we even get the forex to pay for the unrestricted importation your container economy expert is advocating for?

You guys want to kill Nigeria and we won’t allow you.

Me and you know that Lagos state and Nigerian customs rakes a lot in import duties and taxation. Let's not talk about clearing agencies and transporter. Igbos has brought in a lot of marketable goods to wholesalers and retailers thereby giving opportunities to traders. Mind you that it could have been hard for you to see spare parts for your vehicles if not for hardworking Igbos who source them around the world and import them not to talk of the vehicles themselves. Should we talk about drinks, foreign packaged foods, clothes, tiles, doors and so on and so forth that we've made you to see and buy. If for a moment we stop. The seaports will suffer so does internal generated income. There'll be no material left to sell in Nigeria. Because of money made through importation and sales, we were able to buy lands, build houses and develop rural areas in Lagos and environs, even other parts of the country where we do businesses. Is that not an economic gain for the developed regions and Nigeria in general. You cannot deny how industrious the Igbos are, how good they're in human resource and building. That's why we have the highest number of millionaires and billionaires from our region. I bet you, you don't know how rich we are.
All this tori on top of what? All I asked is how your claim of : developing Lagos: with your " Importation business ' proves that you control the Economy of Lagos.

You have the highest billionaires, can that also be established with facts?

You buy lands, how many lands and where are they? I don't know how you people think that chorus and repeating certain figures and claims makes other people believe or accept such facts. Where are the lands, is there any way or figures that states the number of houses or lands people from SE have possession of beyond the oral and the usual delusional figures ya"ll throw around among yourselves?

And erm, most of the money generated at the airport, in Lagos goes to the federal government.

So, once again, how do you control the economy of Lagos? grin
NB;
If, as you claimed in your limited thinking you control the economy of Lagos or the economy of Lagos is under your control, by now, Lagos's economy would have collapsed why and how?

The image below and based on facts findings prove that an economy controlled or dominated by " import" fail and falls woefully.

60% of Nigeria's import goes to the east and one wonders why there is little few or no jobs opportunity and low or no employment opportunities in that part of the country. These are facts and I can back them up. cheesy

You Igbos give the most foolish response to questions especially out of bigotry. Did Nigeria already not directed all it resources to Abuja for over 30 years now how is that working out for Nigeria. Is Abuja among the cities listed here or as it overtaken Lagos.

I am sure if Nigeria concentrated it resources to a wretched state like Anambra it will do even worse unlike Abuja that is growing so when you argue please be logical rather than foolish, that only expose your Igbo bigotry which I won't be helping you with here today.
Dude said " dem made Lagos economy BIG with their * IMPORTATION and yet still claim Nah British , and them deviated and said, na because Lagos get Seaport as if na only Lagos get seaport.

Politics › Re: Lagos Ranks As 4th Wealthiest City In Africa – Report by totit: 1:17pm On Sep 20, 2022
tctrills:
Let me make things short and easy for you, Lagos has been top four richest cities in Africa for over 50 years. Please do your research if you don't know. If you think that Lagos became the 4th richest city in Africa this year then you have so much to learn and I don't know where to begin from.
And according to you via * IMPORTATION "

This was your quote ;

We made Lagos the import capital of Nigeria. We made Lagos the investment hub. The Lagos airport, the Federal government infrastructure, The corporate world investments. Lagos has over 100 years gap on most Nigerian cities.
The question is, what sustains the 4th position, who's in charge, yes, why has there been growth year in and year out? What is other down, eg, Abuja and some other states with fed structure?

You want to exclude the brain behind her sustainability?

In one breath you claimed it was " importation " in another breath, it's the British?

Lmaop grin
Politics › Re: Lagos Ranks As 4th Wealthiest City In Africa – Report by totit: 1:05pm On Sep 20, 2022
tctrills:
I don't understand much of what you wrote but just so you know, before 1960, Lagos was already the richest city in Nigeria. Lagos gave Abuja almost 80 years gap. Also, Abuja does not have a seaport.
Lagos has many years gap over all other cities. Lagos is not the only state with a federal airport but it has the biggest by far. It also has the biggest and most developed seaport.
The fact that no country grows or develops through importation means nothing here. Businesses would grow in a city where they have easy access to imports and exports and Lagos is the only city in Nigeria that has such infrastructure.
So before the whites came the biggest civilizations in Nigeria were Benin, Kano, and Borno. Lagos is a product of post-European coming. It is a product of the entire Nigerian nation. Nigerians have invested more into Lagos than any other city even before Tinubu was born.
As much as I typed that in a hurry I am quite sure what I wrote was clear and straightforward.

Well, now, you seem to deviate and contradicted all of a sudden cos first, I was wondering how a normal person who claims kr seem to sound intelligent and learned base tbe economic growth of a country or state on that economy killer " Importation " WFT was that?

The bone of contention here is how far, so far with Lagos, how long does it take Lagos to develop into a city like you claimed developed doesn't necessarily mean the whole 80-year dooorh! And it's why I asked since the capital was moved to the north over 30 years ago what's going on when compared to Lagos in terms of development or must we wait for 100years for that to happen?

And when you guys talk about Seaport, Airport was that also a British invention, or must say the seaport is what makes Lagos develop if we have many in the country eg, South-south with airport /seaport as well?

Dude, before the British arrival we have Oyo civilization as you wrote in your early post and there was nothing like Lagos doorhh what is a tribe, Yoruba so what are you talking about? The Oyo civilization is the reflection of what Lagos is today. You can only give what you have dude.

And yes, you are wise to correct that mistake with " Importation' cos it adds no value to any economy, especially a developing country.

Hey, when we talk about Tinubu we talk about Lagos cos his blueprint is there.
Lagos wasn't the 4th largest economy before until now.
Politics › Re: Lagos Ranks As 4th Wealthiest City In Africa – Report by totit: 12:22pm On Sep 20, 2022
tctrills:
Let's talk about Yoruba civilization. Before the conowhereming of the whites, the biggest Yoruba civilization was the Oyo empire. Lagos or Eko was not a renowned kingdom or empire. It could not be compared to Egba or Ijebu.
The whites were responsible for making Lagos a city, not the Yorubas. And the entire Nigeria is responsible for the present Lagos, not Tinubu. We made Lagos the import capital of Nigeria. We made Lagos the investment hub. The Lagos airport, the Federal government infrastructure, The corporate world investments. Lagos has over 100 years gap on most Nigerian cities.
The white made Lagos a city how many years back " made a city " are talking about here?

Are you referring to lagos " of old that's not even up to two local gov or the latter Lagos that was conjoined with other SW states?/

If the Oyo empire could experience civilization like you agreed which is the old Yoruba empire why can't the same Yoruba replicate the same Lagos of today? The question is, why lagos, why Oyo empire if it's not in the blood?

Abuja, for over 30 of being the country's capital till this day could not compete with Lagos, wetin happen?

Dude, by the way, every country the British left were more or less partially developed before they did where are they today, those developments, and how come Lagos is still standing? Nah whimch be dat? You are comparing Lagos under British rule to that of today, na so infrastructure no dey decay?

Is Lagos the only state with one federal airport as of today?

And please, let's apply brain sometimes, no country grows or develops through importation, nowhere in the world has there been, importation kills the growth of a country and her economy.

You sef Hear yourself, Import capital

You are obviously from the East please take your importation elsewhere, what we need in SW is export capital.
Lmao
