how old is this person ? Does the person experience swelling elsewhere? Any known systemic health condition ?
She is 37, no swelling elsewhere and no other systemic condition. Thanks

it's relatively safe, it's a weak concentration but then, it's a drug still and anything could happen.
Good day doctor. What causes eyes to get swollen after bending head down in prostration? The swelling isn't painful. It just gets swollen after the person bends their head to the ground when observing Muslim prayers then the swelling reduces overtime, gradually. It returns again when the person bends their head.
Thank you.

Tell him to take the money to the market himself.

60k is too small for the 4 of you.
I will suggest it if he complains that we are spending too much again. Because I don't know what else to do.

Just try to make him understand the costs jare, and how somethings have to go if we will still have to make do with the 60k point is everyone has to make some sacrifice at some point. The persons sacrificing should not be the children, they need all the nutrients they can get, adults go still fit rough am but children they need healthy food for growth and proper development.

Yeah, families like that abound, I was discussing with my my bike man, I carried eggs and told him to be careful that egg is now expensive he was telling me its up to a year he ate egg cry I was shocked.

People that still have money to be feeding well and it's just about how much or how much not is enough should be grateful.

Lots of people don't eat healthy again, infact they can't even feed their children healthy again, they are just managing. Ogi without milk here, soaking garri without groundnut there, concoction rice with grounded pepper only here, asepo without fish there even to eat fruits sef is expensive.

They wish to do more but they just can't afford it, in reality even 60k total income is an answerd prayer for a lot of families.

It's really terrible oo.
Even on the egg issue. Egg itself is expensive. One egg in this side is 70naira and it's something I have to buy every time for my kids. Egg that used to be substitute protein for poor people that cannot afford meat and fish is now luxury item.

@bold, those combinations you listed are pitiful sha
Sadly they are everyday meals for many Nigerians.

Let him manage the home with the 60k, let him help buy all the foodstuffs, essentials and children's provisions for a month just siddom and look, if he complains just say ehen, uhum that's all don't say pim, he will try to conform to panla fish once in a while (panla is actually now expensive by the way sef).

Sometimes the husband's need to know what women face in managing chop money.

Abi is it not what the 60k you guys have that you will use ni. Calculation these days can make one run crazy joor.

Lots of people (husband's) are complaining about housemanagment costs these days, even Psqaure complained too, so it's a general thing and you can't blame them it's the way the economy is now, he just has to adjust a bit that's all it's a general thing. E no easy these days.

Besides pounded yam/ semo and goat meat every other day is actually a luxury for alot of families in the times we are in.

Just vegetable oil is about 7500, ordinary bathing soap is expensive, detergent nko same nooni.

Lots of families are facing this chop money issue since food prices increased drastically.

It is well oo, E go better.
@bold, he won't agree.

There are other families with two kids where their joint income is about 60/70k. Example where the father is a poor mechanic and mother is a tailor or itinerant trader.

I wonder how families like that survive. Are they drinking garri everyday or what?

You have been performing a miracle with 60k. One day, calmly and lovingly make your husband go with you to the market.

You better eat o. If you drop dead now, all these girls outside with agbalumo breast and teddy bear phone case can’t manage o. Your hubby would drop 150k sef.

With the high cost of things in the market, 60k is not too much for feeding for family of four for a month.
Thanks

I know all fingers are not equal, but madam, to be very honest with you, even if you buy from your village you'll not spend anything less.

If a family of four can feed on 60k, then I must salute your managerial skills.

Things are expensive everywhere, it's the plain truth.
I wish he understood this ooo, because I am tired.

In that case you have tried all means to let him know that, it's not working out

He knows that if he goes to market, he will be spending more

I think he wants you to be extremely economical in spending

Well you have to start with reducing his goat meat and yam, these two food items are extremely expensive in the market, for they are foods for the rich especially goat meat
Unless I stop eating completely
I don't know how to economize again
I keep telling him that.
That's why I came to nairaland for possible tips and advice

Have a weekly food time table for the kids going to school and for the 4 weekends in a month, it's normally stew and/or swallow.

An alternative for semovita is buying cassava and maize per mudu or paint bucket from local market and grind at a mill.

Make stew at weekends
Thank you very much. I appreciate

OK good, he likes good things

If you can't manage the 60k, let him start running home with the 60k at least for 3 months so that he will have direct and first hand experience of what you have been cracking yourself with

May be he will increase the allowance
I did exactly what you wrote above when he complained we are spending too much.
I suggested he should go to market once or twice and see prices of food items for himself and check for any other cheaper alternatives he wants us to start buying to save money. He didn't even respond. I think I will suggest it again.

Resurgent2016:
My thoughts:

- buy in bulk (gives you better bargaining, also inflation means the cost of food is increasing in almost weekly basis)
- discourage bing eating in the house. People should only eat when hungry
- no side courses at meals again...only main course smiley
- as parents , take a big leap and move from 1-1-1 to 1-0-1 (potential 33% saving on your feeding cost for you 2).
Thank you. I will suggest saving to buy in bulk to hubby.

I think you should give the children all the need to eat and grow healthy

Then you and your husband can manage yourself like skipping lunch and whatever you can do to manage yourself

But if the economy on your side is nit yet stable and you birth another child, that 60k will be bearly enough to carry you guys
Hubby doesn't want to deprive himself, I am the one bearing burden of the management. I didn't even want to mention that part, for example he must always eat goat meat and Plantain when eating rice, he does not like garri swallow. Only Semo and pounded yam. Infact let me not go there.

Thinhs are really expensive and i understand that you are trying. Also underatabd that your hubby is trying too. Liase with people in your church, group or even friends and buy in bulk (crayfish, beans, dry fish etc.) and share. It helps a whole lot. If you have 50 cups of rice, it will not finish in one month for a family of 2 adults and 2 children, do you get? You can include cloth diapers too. If DSTV is part of the 60k, just pay for the minimum for the children. The truth is Naija is tough right now and we have to restrategize. I hope this helps.
All of this sound like a good idea. Thank you. The buying in bulk part, last time me and compound people gathered to buy whole cow to save cost of meat there was some wuru wuru on the part of the buyer and sharer so people are a bit reluctant to buy bulk again. Maybe I will ask around for another audience like religious group.
Thank you.

60k is not too much..things are really expensive now o. Even with that amount, you will have to remove some things from your list.
I already remove so much. I don't know what to remove again
Kids don't even enjoy things like cornflakes or golden morn. It's always pap.
It is well.

Depends on lifestyle.
If you're an average on-budget family, it seems high with a negligible amount.
But, if snacks (pringles and juices for kids), beverages and fruits are there, you even try sef.
I buy only basics. The only snacks I buy are Biscuits. And Milo and milk. (is that one even snack?)
Other thinks are basics. Rice, beans, plantain, indomie, red and Gnut oil, stew and soup, tissue, diaper and soap for bathing and washing.

It's honestly not too much, times are hard presently and things are quiet expensive but we just have to manage what ever we have. Imagine 5 liters kings oil for 8k talk more other things, just try to make hubby understand that it's the economy and not your fault.
This too shall pass.
Thank you for the kind words, I am already stretched to the limit. I cannot imagine how else to reduce the money. That's why I came to Nairaland to ask.

Those people who are living in Abuja can only help you, you can't compare cost of things in Abuja and Lagos. Also it's depends on where your wife buy things, buying in bulk inside popular market is better than going to the supermarket.
I never buy in supermarket
I even go to cheaper village markets to save costs but hubby says 60k is too much for feeding monthly for four of us.

Hello mamas
I really apologize for derailing please don't be angry. I needed mature replies that's why I came here.
Please is 60k a month too much to spend on feeding for a family of four with husband, wife and two children?

I wanted to know if I am the one wasting money, because we are practically living on the edge but hubby is complaining that we spend too much on feeding.

We live in Abuja.

Please is that amount too much? How much on average do you guys spend on feeding?
FamilyPlease Married Folks, Help Me Plan A Budget by Towma(op): 12:46pm On Mar 19, 2022
Hello everyone
Please I need help of married people with children or any knowledgeable individual to help me manage the money me and my husband make so we can spend less.

We have a family of two kids, the first one is 6 and the second one is four.

We usually spend a total of 60,000 Naira monthly on feeding every month.

We live in Abuja and I need help on how to reduce our total feeding money from 60k to 40k or less. Are there any cheaper alternatives to staple foods like rice, yam, meat, fish etc?

The kids need to eat well to grow healthy so I can't compromise on their feeding. I buy food from outskirts of Abuja because things in the main Abuja markets are more costly.

I need helpful suggestions to help us spend less on feeding thank you.
