PoliticsA Peek Into Buhari's Manifesto by Toyolad(op): 11:40am On Dec 27, 2014
Buhari's Manifesto says:
.....As at 1999, Nigerian rate of unemployment stood at about 8%,today it is estimated from Official statistics to be close to 30%. I will embark on vocational training, entrepreneurial and skills acquisition scheme for graduates along with the creation of Small Business Loan Guarantee Scheme to create at least 5 million new jobs by 2019. A Small and Medium Enterprises Development
Commission will be created for this purpose. I will also encourage State Governments to focus on employment creation, by matching everyone job created in the same state.

Integrate the informal economy into the
mainstream and prioritize the full
implementation of the National Identification Scheme to generate the relevant data;
Expand domestic demand and wil undertake associated
public works programmes to achieve this goal; Embark on export and production diversification including investment in infrastructure;
promote manufacturing, through Agro Based industries;
and expand and promote sub-regional trade through ECOWAS and AU; Make Information Technology, Manufacturing, Agriculture and Entertainment key drivers of our economy, by reviewing the present reward system, which is based on certification, to that based on skills, competencies, and performances;
Balance the Nigerian economy across regions by the creation of 6 Regional Economic Development Agencies(REDAs) to act as sub? regional hubs in order to promote healthy regional competitiveness ; 10. Put in place a N300bn Regional Growth Fund with an average of N50bn in each geopolitical region; to be managed by the REDAs, to encourage private sector enterprise and to support places currently reliant on only on the public sector, to migrate to a private sector reality;
Amend the Constitution and the Land Use Act to create freehold/ leasehold interests in land along with matching grants for states to create a nationwide electronic land title register on a state by state basis;

Create an additional middleclass of at least 4 million new home owners by 2019 by enacting a national mortgage single digit interest rates for purchase of owner occupier houses as well as review the collateral qualification to make funding for home ownership easier, with a 15 to 30 year mortgage terms. This will equally help our banking system migrate from short to long term perspective of their role in sustaining theeconomy.

Create a Social Welfare Program of at least Five Thousand Naira (N5000)that will cater for the 25 million poorest and most vulnerable citizens upon the demonstration of children’s enrolment in school and evidence of immunisation to help promote family stability.

*Provide allowances to the discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members for Twelve (12) months while in the skills and entrepreneurial development programmes....

There was nothing like gases, gravitation force, star dust, etc before the big bang, they were consequences of the big bang. All there was was energy.

And how many times do I have to drum it into your ears - Only a few Atheist understands and accept the Big Bang and even science in General. Atheism has nothing to do with science. It seems i am talking to a radio, who only talks but not listen.

Today is Christmas and i have been resting all day, so i have some time to play around. We are living on the information age so most of these questions you asked can be answered from the internet. As they say Google is your friend.

It will be impossible for anyone to answer all your questions comprehensively. Each question is a discipline on its own that requires volumes to explain adequately. I will just give a brief summery of my own personal views.

So here goes;

This is the classic misunderstanding of theists concerning evolution and atheism. Not all atheists believe in evolution. In fact i guess that there are more atheists that do not accept or understand evolution than those that do. Even the father of Evolution - Charles Darwin cannot be said to be an atheist. My role atheist model - Tai Solarin does not even know the meaning of the word evolution. There had been hundreds if not thousands of atheist ever before the theory of Evolution was propagated. There were atheists in ancient greece, even the bible made mention of people who say there is no God.

If you are talking about the material universe, i would tell you that NO BODY KNOWS. Lots of ancient stone age men made different speculations according to the knowledge of their time. Some speculated it was created from an egg, some speculated that a very powerful man created their universe by just saying some magic word, others still speculated that the universe was birthed from a woman.

Modern man using current knowledge speculate that the universe might have started from an infinitely small and dense energy which exploded (began to expand), some 12 billion years ago.

So everybody speculates according to the understanding and knowledge of the time.

I do not understand what you mean by fine tuning, but if you are talking about the fundamental constants of physics, i would say that the universe had been evolving for 12 billion years, so you would expect it to fine tune its basic properties, else it won't still be here.

Please refer to the explanation above. Not all atheist are evolutionists. Some atheists deny the existence of a designer because to them no proof had ever been provided by the creationists to support the existence of such designer. The is not one shread of evidence to show what the designer looks like, if it is male, female or a cow, and how it goes about creating.

Have to pause here. Have to attend to visitors.
..it's either you're an evolutionist or a creationist...going by what you typed there,it shows that you're not an evolutionist which automatically portrays you as a creationist..NB:if you're a creationist, then you believe in a supreme being,a creative mind.

lets see how u atheists contradict yourselves by claiming not to be evolutionists

bushdoc9919: I am,son. If we take the money we use to subsidise education and use it to fund pry and sec educaiton....time will come when university education won't be necessary to make it.

You obviously are not,and until then, the poor should suffer for it?

That is why there has to be laws allowing for that sort of loan.

Waiting for the laws.....

Payment starts ONLY when they get a job...

Hmmm and until then, suffer from HBP and pressure from govt?

And you think that most people earn below N50000 a month....plus we can adjust repayment according to need.

The more the adjustment, the longer the years needed to pay the debt..when would they start thinking about investment then?,when there are debts to pay just cos of education

So we continue producing less prepared poor graduates, who will lose out to rich guys with foreign degrees?
This won't happen if things are done the right way!
EducationRe: OAU Slashes Tuition by Toyolad(m): 9:33am On Aug 22, 2014
bushdoc9919: Absolutely not....we need something in the region of N500million (my personal estimate) per university per annumn to make sure they are just world class.

Part of the cash could come from government....the rest could come from students.

Yes....Goodluck and co went to school free....back when the number of students nationwide was less than 90000. Now it is approx 1.5 million and rising.

Here is a proposal on how increased fees can be managed written in 2012....

Tuition Fees:

Based on fees charged by private universities in Nigeria I have set a base amount that should enable universities to provide good enough lecture theatres, hostel accommodation, restaurants and canteens, road and transport infrastructure, examination halls and acceptable research and computer facilities to be an average of N300,000 per student per year. Universities should be given the freedom to set their fees up to a maximum of N300,000 per student.

For ease of calculation I will work with a number of 1,000,000 Nigerian undergraduate students. If each student pays N300,000, the total cost to educate our current undergraduates per year will be N300 billion per year. For a country where fuel subsidy payments skyrocketed from less than N300billion to N1.3trillion naira per year in 2 years with no explanation, a country where one individual steals N2 billion naira of government funds and is allowed to walk free, I believe we can afford to spend N300,000 billion per year on educating our youth.

To fund the schools at a rate of N300,000 per student the government should make the funds available to each student in 3 different ways:

Interest Free Loans – Each student that has gotten an admission can apply for a loan to cover tuition fees from government. For an average 4 year course each student that receives a loan will have a total debt of N1.2 million on graduation.
Individual Payments – If your parents can afford the fees or if you can afford the fees yourself and want to avoid piling up debts then you can choose to pay your fees yourself like many are already doing in private universities. With the promise of better education in public schools many Nigerian parents will actually be ready to pay these fees. Our public universities currently have the ability to be better than most of the private universities that we have if they are well funded.
Grants and Scholarships – Students with exceptional skills such as academic or sporting skills can be granted scholarships by private institutions, government, NGOs and the universities themselves. To qualify for the scholarships there must be set benchmarks that you must meet and surpass.

An improved standard at our universities means we will have more foreigners, especially Africans, applying to study in Nigerian Universities. This can be a huge source of foreign exchange earnings for the country. The universities should be allowed to set the tuition fees for international students as they see fit.

Repayment:

Studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between improved higher education and economic growth. It is therefore safe to assume that better higher education means a better economy and means graduates have more job opportunities after school and also are able to earn more.

While applying for admission into University each student should be given a unique ID. This unique ID will be used after university for getting an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and also used after NYSC to get a job. On getting a job each employee is naturally set-up with a tax payment number, this is how the loans system should also be set-up and the required repayment should be deducted from salary at source just like taxes are.

When an individual starts to earn above N200,000 per month (total earnings) the student must start to repay the loans by having 10% of salary deducted from source just as taxes are deducted. If we can give 10% of our salaries to pastors to buy private jets monthly it is fair to give that much to pay for a good education.

Paying N20,000 monthly it will take 5 years (60months) to repay a loan of N1.2million. Naturally you would expect the individual’s salary to increase in that period and so monthly repayment also increases which means the repayment period will actually be shorter. This is fair enough in my opinion.
Toyolad: and you think the money they get from education presently is not enough if managed well?
About 117 universities,36 fed unis(paying 20-40k per student),about 57 fed poly(also paying 25-35k per student),considering the fact that the buildings of these schools were built in 20th century oh and u telling me that the money gotten from these schools per year is not enough?
[quote author=bushdoc9919]You're still not putting the less-privileged into consideration bro.

You think they will grant them loans without collateral(which they don't have)

You think it's immediately they graduate that they will gain employment(only those who are influential can achieve that)

Even if they gain employment, you think it's a job that they would be paid 6 digit salary for a start?(Only those with influence can also achieve that).

This loan thing is just a way of creating fear of the future into the minds of the less-privileged and making them forever indebted to the govt.

bushdoc9919: The basic problem with your argument is that it is flawed.

Countries that can afford free university education are either

1.Countries where the citizens pay heavy income taxes....like Germany

2.Countries that have seriously diversified economies....like Finland.(and Finland has 5million people and a per capita income that is 20 times that of Nigeria.

3.Countries that produce oil....and have populations less than 20 million....like Saudi Arabia and UAE(UAE has 8million....and produces slightly more than Nigeria....which has 160Million people).

4.Countries that attract lots of foreign students....who pay to subsidise the locals.

If you read the article I linked....you would have come across this gem...

Will this make less people able to afford tertiary education? Possibly. But the consolation that goes with it is that those who do go to school will be receiving quality education, which they can apply to create opportunities in our economy. The target for education should be more about quality than quantity. As much as it is important that everyone who desires to attend a tertiary education does, it is even more important that those who do presently get the best possible. If we have to make a compromise between the two, we should sacrifice quantity of graduates for the quality of the graduates. But we should also improve the quality of public basic education that one does not have to have tertiary education in order make it in our country. We should make the system so good that we can have our own Richard Bransons, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs who all have gone on to be world-changers despite not having university degrees, but public basic education in their countries.

I believe that reducing the subsidy levels on tertiary education will free up more money for governments to invest in basic education, especially states and local governments. Public basic education systems should be given the highest priority possible. This is because it is the only vehicle that can deliver education en masse. The norm should be that everyone should be comfortable going to public primary and secondary schools, and private schools to be only for the upper class. The federal government should set the overall policy for education but leave it for the states and local governments to implement it. They should provide funding for implementation of specific policies, such as increased science education and so on as the policy states.

abeg,go bk and read my post,ok?

If god is a mystery, then what is the need and purpose of religion?
Read the post again before tagging it 'meaningless'..I never said the existence of God is mystery.

The mystery here is:trying to search for the source of His powers!,hw He came into existence and not His existence.
The op and many peepz have tried to reason there way out of this mystery but have failed, therefore concluding that He got His powers and qualities that makes Him the most supreme being through LUCK(which is to me just a way to find an answer to their curiosity).

Bible God is a person. Not all Gods have personhood. If luck has a role in God's existence, wouldn't you want to re examine how much reverence you give to him?
you don't get it do you?
If there's an UNLIKELY CANDIDATE then there must be a LIKELY CANDIDATE.

Bible God is a spirit, a supreme being and not a (physical) person.

If 'by luck' a president gets elected (perhaps he does and perhaps he does not deserve it) does that mean that he wouldn't be able to exercise his power? Does that mean he would have no say in his country? Does that mean that his people wouldn't give him reverence?

What you call LUCK is what I call his DIVINITY and his MYSTERY,some things will just remain mysteries to man no matter how much you search for His source of Power and Qualities, I'm not saying you shld give up searching but just get it...that the more you look;the less you see,the more knowledge you seek about how He got his qualities and how He came to be;the more Confused you get.(Which automatically leads you to conclude that He doesn't exist) and IF you're confused on what to believe in,you try to criticize His actions.

RomanceWords From A Caring Father To His Son About Marriage by Toyolad(op): 3:59pm On Aug 20, 2014
WORDS FROM A FATHER TO A SON ABOUT
MARRIAGE
1. My son, if you keep spending on a woman
and she never asked you if you’re saving or
investing, and she keeps enjoying the attention, don’t marry her.

2. My son, a woman could be a good wife to
you, some could be a good mother to your
children but if you’ve found a woman like a
mother to you, your children and your family,
please don’t let her go.

3. My son, don’t confine the position of your
wife to the kitchen, where did you get that
fromhuh Even in our days, we had farm-lands
where they worked every morning . . . that was our office.

4. My son, if I tell you that you’re the head of
the house, don’t look at your pocket; look if you will see a smile on your wife’s face.

5. My son, if you want to have a long life, let
your wife be in-charge of your salary, it will be
difficult for her to spend it when she’s aware of the home needs and bills to pay but if it’s in
your care, she will keep you asking even when
all has been spent.

6. My son, don’t ever beat your woman, the
pain in her body is nothing to be compared to
the wound on her heart and that means you
may be in trouble living with a wounded
woman.

7. My son, now that you’re married, if you live a bachelor kind of life with your wife, you will soon be single again.

8. My son, in our days, we had many wives and
many children because of our large farm-lands
and many harvests, there are hardly any land
for farming anymore, so embrace your woman
closely.

9. My son, under the cocoa tree that I did meet
your mother could be your eateries and
restaurants of nowadays, but remember, the
closet thing we did there was to embrace each
other.

10. My son, don’t be carried away when you
start making more money, instead of spending
on those tiny legs that never knew how hard
you worked to get it, spend it on that woman
that stood by you all along.

11. My son, when I threw little stones or
whistled at the window of your mother father’s
house, to call her out, it was not for sex, it was
because I missed her so much.

12. My son, remember, when you say your wife has changed, there could be something you’ve stopped doing too.

13. My son, your mother, Asake rode the bicycle
with me before I bought that tortoise car
outside there, any woman that won’t endure
with you in your little beginning should not
enjoy your riches.

14. My son, don’t compare your wife to any
woman, there are ways she’s enduring you too
and has she ever compared you to any man?

15. My son, there is this thing you people call
feminism, well, if a woman claim to have equal
right with you in the house, divide all the bills
into two equal parts, take one part and ask her to start paying the other part.

16. My son, I met your mother a virgin and I
took more yams to her father, if you don’t meet your wife a virgin, don’t blame her, what I didn’t tell you is that our women had prestige.

17. My son, I didn’t send your sisters to school
because I was foolish like many to think a
female child won’t extend my family name,
please don’t make that mistake, the kind of
female achievers I see nowadays has made the
male-gender an ordinary tag.

18. My son, your mother have once locked up
the cloth I was wearing and almost tore it
because she was angry, I did not raise my hand to beat her because of a day like this, so that I can be proud to tell you that I never for once beat your mother.

19. My son, in our days, our women had more of natural beauty, though I wouldn’t lie to you,
some had minor painting of their appellation
mostly on their arms, the ones you people now
call tattoo, but don’t forget that they didn’t
expose any part of their body like your women
of nowadays.

20. My son, your mother and I are not
interested in what happens in your marriage,
try to handle issues without always coming to
us.

21. My son, remember I bought your mother’s
first sewing machine for her, help your wife
achieve her dreams just as you’re pursuing
yours.

22. My son, don’t stop taking care of me and
your mother, it’s a secret of growing old and
having children to take care of you too.

23. My son, pray with your family, there is a
tomorrow you don’t know, talk to God that
knows everything, everyday.

24. Endeavour to remember these words of mine and pass them to your generations plus tell all nairalanders to read it to the end.

Another evidence that the Bible is truly
God’s Word is the indestructibility of the Bible.
Because of its importance and its claim to be the very Word of God, the Bible has suffered more vicious attacks and attempts to destroy it than any other book in history. From early Roman Emperors like Diocletian, through communist dictators and on to modern-day atheists and agnostics, the Bible has withstood and outlasted all of its attackers and is still today the most widely published book in the world.
Throughout time, skeptics have regarded the
Bible as mythological, but archeology has
confirmed it as historical. Opponents have
attacked its teaching as primitive and outdated, but its moral and legal concepts and teachings have had a positive influence on societies and cultures throughout the world. It continues to be attacked by pseudo-science, psychology, and political movements, yet it remains just as true and relevant today as it was when it was first written. It is a book that has transformed countless lives and cultures throughout the last
2000 years. No matter how its opponents try to attack, destroy, or discredit it, the Bible remains;
its veracity and impact on lives is unmistakable.
The accuracy which has been preserved despite every attempt to corrupt, attack, or destroy it is clear testimony to the fact that the Bible is truly God’s Word and is supernaturally protected by Him. It should not surprise us that, no matter how the Bible is attacked, it always comes out unchanged and unscathed. After all, Jesus said,
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” ( Mark 13:31). After looking at the evidence, one can say without a doubt that, yes, the Bible is truly God’s Word.

Get it cleared that same spirit that curses also blesses. Same hand that slaps pampers as well. Same cutlass that clears your weed kills as well. Same teeth use to chew also bite. Same motor that transports you also kills. Same medicine that heals also kills.. Same bible use to bless also uses to curse. Same pastor who blesses also curses. Same idol that kills also blesses. Same herb that heals also kills. Same God you all ask for blessing is same you call to kill your enemies.
.
Pls tell me who is holy?
same spirit but two functions?...if this spirit is really the one that controls, then it is all powerful(according to u).

if it truly controls the universe, then it cannot be controlled by human despite living in human(according to you) how then do we manage to suppress the bad side of the spirit at will, how do we enhance it good side?

Bro,if I may ask,the miracles you mentioned earlier, were they performed by this singular spirit in the life of those people?
Who performed those miracles, doctors who were wowed by these occurences?

Seems you believe that Jesus died nd rose again,nd Thanks to God,you said you've witnessed nd read about the dead that rose again,Who do you think made these possible?
The singular spirit in you?

God exists, the bible confirms this, many archeologists have confirmed the histories in the Bible, scientists have testified.
Logically,there are proves of existence.

The old testament that was written years before the new testament agrees.is this coincidental?

finofaya: What obvious fact? You know by extension, God's being has to come from another being, abi?

I don't know how the many things in the universe came to be. I don't know if it's God, tho HE seems an UNLIKELY CANDIDATE.

Imagine a God that is self existent, and conscious, and personal, and intelligent, and emotional, and all powerful and so much more. Isn't it a little too lucky for such a PERSON that he exists? That he just sprang from nothingness with all these qualities in place?
@capslocked,that LIKELY CANDIDATE that seems to have done the job is the GOD we're referring to.

Nt a person though(not all beings are persons, agree?)Of course,He is lucky if that's what you wanna know.and He has and still using the qualities He got frm luck to control the universe.

Is homosexuality a prophesy?

finofaya: For those who wonder why any thing exists at all, instead of nothing, and attribute the existence of anything at all to some sort of God or the other, I present to you a quick proof from the book Why Does The World Exist by Jim Holt which shows that there could not have been nothing, and that the question "why something rather than nothing" is therefore pointless and that God is not necessary, since there was no nothing for him to annihilate and bring forth existence. It reads;

"Suppose there were nothing. Then there would be no laws; for laws, after all, are something. If there were no laws, then everything would be permitted. If everything were permitted, then nothing would be forbidden. So if there were nothing, nothing would be forbidden. Thus nothing is self-forbidding.
Therefore, there must be something. QED."

Watertight. tongue
Never was there Nothing, cos being cannot come from non-being!..so as sir muskeeto had said earlier, you're just dancing round the obvious fact.

So tell us how the many things(in this universe) came out of this something that was.
Don't tell me you believe we and everything just came to be at ones.

what do you mean by 'suppose there were nothing'?...nd what laws do you mean?

Pls pardon my dumbness,I jst wanna see things from your perspective,

The same process that formed you did my own. I'm not different in formation. The spirit in you is the God. The word from your mouth is the word of God. If it produces good fruit it becomes holy
if it produces good fruit to some set of people and produces bad fruit to some set of people, what shld we call it?

Holy or unholy or better still,semi-holy?

God is a supreme being!!!..then you mean we all are supreme beings?...if the whole citizens of a country are presidents, who then are they all going to governhuh

Zodiac61: Wrong question.
You tell me one "prophesy" that has been fulfilled. For it to be a proper prophesy, it has to be clear and unequivocal, not the "making it up as you go along" we are used to getting from apologists.
HOMOSEXUALITY!!!..you said ONE,so I'm stopping there.

What have u gotta say about that?

I love mental challenges. I want you to know well that nobody will speak beyond the level of his/her understanding.
.
You asked God. Well, you called it God. My own belief is that there is A SINGULAR SPIRIT that controls the whole universe. It has no duplicate. Whichever name anybody wishes to call it is welcome by them.
.
There is nothing like holy spirit and evil spirit. Mankind describes the aftermath of the influence of the spirit at any event to be evil or good.
.
Good and bad are human judgemental mindset.
Imagine, if I just call you and give you N50K, I will be good to you. But if I call and slap you I will be bad person. Answer me, do I have two different spirit dwelling in me?
.
I was at busstop one day, a guy's car broke down and needed to be pushed. I offered the help. Just 2mins later, a beggar came to me and I refused to give a penny. How can you describe me?
.
Every human being is like a bitter-leaf. You can use bitter-leaf for good and bad. It is used for healing because it naturally has healing properties. It is also used to conjure evil because same leaf has the potential. Thats mankind.
.
Holiness is human concept of feeling towards a favourable influence. Abstract is the case when the influence goes absurd.
.
Its a greeat mistake calling on God because there is no God else where but inside of you. There is no devil elsewhere but inside of you.
.
A typical witch is sometimes favourable and also adverse.r
.
What many people dont know is how to trigger the God in them.
the 'singular spirit' you referred to there,is who we call GOD...you call it a singular spirit and we call it
God(which means a supreme being,isn't it?).

Bitter leaf used to conjure evil?..the evil you claim exists only in our imagination and mindhuh
Or u mean to say 'to conjure evil spirits'(in which you said doesn't exist)huh

Next question,Do you believe that this singular spirit(GOD) whom you said controls the universe also controls us(our total being)? Or ain't we part of the universe?

Tell me more about your version of God,is He all-powerful and all-knowing?

And,what are your proves that this God exists,
The materials you use in proving His existence is what is called 'HOLY objects'..it's a word used in decribing things that are considered to be special because they are connected with God(the singular spirit you believe in).

Please dont get me confused. No one doubt miracles. Miracle is real and magic is real as well. But how can bible be manual to holiness as you asserted?
.
Do you realise that the % of of evil reports in the bible is more than the good ones? What now makes it holy? As the bible is manual to holiness, so also is manual to iniquity do you realise that?
.
Is it not same bible some pastors quoteto extort, fraud and conjure spirit?
.
I pity shallow thinkers
I've a few questions to ask you bro.

Do you believe in God?

If yes,how and where did u and still do get your information about Him?

What's your definition of 'Holy' and 'Holiness'?

What do you consider 'Holy' and why do you see it as 'Holy'?

Let's start from there...#waiting for your reply..
