I have since learnt that real wise people often let fools win arguments to maintain the peace.
"often", huh.

I'd say once in a while, but often is asking a bit much.

why would you often let an i.diot win an argument?

his first wife's interview is somewhere on this forum- there was a thread awhile ago.

his second wife is late, i think (not sure).

bianca was the official wife at the time of his death- the first and second wives were estranged from him, i believe.

any other women besides these three are concubines perhaps. Not too many details were made public.

Family › Re: My Husband Does Not Want Me To Work by tpia5: 5:18pm On Feb 25, 2012
The issue is a case by case basis since generalization doesnt necessarily apply all the time.

If your husband is in a high stress job, and you also want to go into a high stress job where the two of you will be snapping at each other when you get home from work, then by all means go ahead and do what you like, @ poster.

However, its up to you or whoever what you feel like doing. If staying at home is a problem then by all means go and get a job with or without your husband's consent.

in any case, you said you used to mock others when you thought you were better off than them.

so, knock yourself out.
Family › Re: My Husband Does Not Want Me To Work by tpia5: 5:14pm On Feb 25, 2012
It is not normal to start thinking of your spouse's death right after your marriage.

Of course its a free world and all sorts of things pass for normal these days.

So you people should carry on.
Family › Re: My Husband Does Not Want Me To Work by tpia5: 4:42pm On Feb 25, 2012
the marriage is less than two years old- why is the husband's death the major issue here? huh

is he sick?

Lol. You're funny. Do you know how many people read this but never thought of joining? And who doesn't know you on this site? Click on the last 10 Newest Members and ask them if they know you and I bet you at least one will. "Given the (M) in my profile" indeed. . . . Besides, replies to you are always worded as if they are to a female, and your posts read like what a female will write.
hmm, ok.

^wise words in general.

like anyone can foresee the future?

neither is it every job that can sustain a family in the event something happens.

Which is why when a man dies, most women still struggle

@OP, U and your hubby both have valid points. My only sadness about your story is that U don't want to be mocked as a "housewife" because U once mocked others.
very d.aft of her.

See, Naija mentality?? Why on earth will U mock someone who has chosen something for herself(good or bad, life is a choice). Maybe, U were even mocking ur mother-in-law, yet she raised a decent and enviable guy for you.
na so nah.

Mind U, many career women take time off their career to train their kids.
i wonder.
Family › Re: My Husband Does Not Want Me To Work by tpia5: 1:05am On Feb 25, 2012
why do women like creating problems for themselves? huh

for goodness sake, if you feel insulted by your husband asking you to stay home and take care of the kids, then enroll in a part-time course or something.

arent there saturday courses or programs tailored towards adults who have a busy schedule? Or learn skills like cake making, interior decorating, whatever?

is it the 5am to 9pm banking job that you're fighting your husband over?

and why must you open thread as if it was nl who married you?

Its one thing for the interior of a building(house) to be tastefully furnished but if the exterior(architeture included) doesn't catch the eye, what's the point?
the exterior looks as good as the interior.
