Congrats to the mum though. Couldnt have been easy carrying five babies at once. The technicalities will be worked out one way or another. |
wow, she has beautiful kids .didnt know she was married and/or had children. and i'm sure most of the guys abusing her the other time, are still single and searching. going from one booty call to another and thinking they're enjoying life. |
@ topic the vast majority of the returnee slaves were yoruba, sorry. ![]() |
Do the crime, do the time. |
I think the poster is the one who is openly hostile to christians and trying to incite religious tension. Comparing christian institutions which are optional for anyone to attend, to CBN funding of islamic banking, is very mischievious and totally uncalled for. There are muslim universities in ogun state and elsewhere which are operating without problems, but the poster wont reference those because it would disrupt his antisocial agenda. However, anyone who doesnt get the issues under discussion, should continue to not get it. |
More familiar with taofik, shamsideen, akeelatu, binisha, (zara is ok though could have been zaratu or zaraina) but wetin be my own. |
Look up "waka pass" in the dictionary and ma je ki nkan nkan ko e lese as you do so. |
@ honerig01 i didnt look for the information before posting. I think eko ile is probably right about the first mission being a methodist one. When i'm not sure about something, i say so. So kindly try to curtail your ignorant attitudes and dont derail or debase the thread. Thanks. |
^Na wa for all this tribal stuff. People are so confused these days. |
I meet non-yorubas all the time who tell me they're lagosians and neither i nor them have a problem with it, so maybe this confusion is a new fad found among recent immigrants to lagos |
@ deepsight are others the ones to tell you whether or not you're lagosian? ![]() If you dont know or feel you're lagosian, then its for you to decide what you want to be. |
Nigeria had many capitals- including lagos, calabar, kaduna and lokoja. For some reason, lokoja which was founded by the british, did not pick up as much as they'd have expected given it's location by the niger. |
Lagos being yoruba isnt as big a deal as people want to make it out to be. Lagos isnt the only place in nigeria thats a melting pot. Its only being disputed because of its strategic location and importance as a traditional base for europeans and other non-nigerians. Other parts of nigeria are also sites of high immigration and melting pots as well. Places like kaduna, ibadan and indeed almost every part of yorubaland, have siginificant non-yoruba presence. Moving eastward, benin, warri, ph, etc are also very mixed. The question of who is or isnt lagosian has been asked and answered many times on this forum. And my opinion remains the same- its up to an individual how they want to define themselves. |
The first badagry mission should be cms- someone correct this if wrong. Cms as in anglican mission. |
But in any case, i think the best people to ask would be whoever said you look alike. |
Ask the people saying that why they feel a black african looks asian. Of course we kno millions of africans have asiatic features because the capoids used to be more widespread across africa than they are now. And the chinese have also been in central africa for centuries though not in large numbers. These are a few of the reasons why some africans have an asiatic look. As per why a malaysian or indonesian would look african to some people, africans were taken to indonesia as emancipated slaves and later as soldiers during some of those european wars. |
Oga in lagos should mean the same as it does elsewhere, which is boss. |
People are conjecturing binis must have either left lagos or blended into the locals because they've been told lagos was bini territory. So to explain the total absense of benin in lagos, they're coming up with all sorts of explanations for the fact that benin was never significantly there in the first place. Interesting. Lagos was established by the portuguese as a trading base which became an exclusively slave port. Benin, in conjunction with the portuguese, or under the direction of the portuguese/ some other african potentate, had a small military base there to facilitate slave transportation. When benin ceased to actively engage in the slave trade to ghana especially, it's outreaches reduced especially as the portuguese themselves were pushed out of west africa by the dutch and had to return/go further south to angola and elsewhere. Areas closer to india. The portuguese influence in west africa waned after a while, due to many factors. They moved to brazil and angola instead, among other places. |
@ topic during the era of the pepper trade, who was lagos engaging in trade with - was it the portuguese? ![]() Why is there relatively little information about this period. |
@ step1 which mass exodus of benin are you referring to. A better question would be when did the portuguese exit lagos and before then, who did they interact with while there. |
