oludyke:
I don't think that there is anything wrong with Nigeria having an Islamic bank.  We have them here in the UK.  It is open to all and sundry, irrespective of your religious affliation.  It's just like every other bank, that is in business to make money.  I am a Christian, if we so desire we can also have a christian bank.  Nothing forbids that too.

I think it's time for the Nigerian youths to have a paradigm shift.  Let's stop attaching religious and tribal sentiments to issues.  We should not tow the lines of our old pals.  Politicians introduced tribalism and religious animosity into Nigeria for their selfish interests.  These politicians (irrespective of tribe and religious inclinations) still dine and wine together.  But whenever their interests are jeopardised, they start flying these religious and tribal kites.

Let us learn to think first as Nigerians.  It will help the country a great deal.
so how are you thinking as a Nigerian?

because your every thought is colored by religion?

"Islamic bank" "Christian bank"- are banks supposed to have religious connotations? huh

trick question when asking a Nigerian, I know.

I've seen it happen! Once worked wit a yoruba man, he said their women don't r prone to promiscuity, NO B ME TALK AM O. He would av preferred an Igbo, that was lagos. In Osun, d girls say they'd prefer igbo that they r generally more hardworkin, provide for them, and r not easily given to polygamy. Twas even a thing of pride there to date or marry an Igbo babe. Imagine many mothers were connectin their daughters to Igbo guys!

The truth is d Yorubas have a thing 4 Igbos but most are afraid of bein left on the long run cos of lack of parental consent. Enough said!
I think this is true sha.

Osun girls seem to be second to Ogun (Ijebu) girls in marrying Igbo guys.

I stand corrected if I'm wrong but that's what I've noticed. However, my conclusions are drawn from the few Yoruba girl/Igbo man marriages I've seen. For dating, some Yoruba girls will date Igbo guys for the variety and whatnot, but not all such relationships end in marriage.

So all those "championing the poor masses" (as usual), keep fooling yourselves.

What of Hindu and Confucionist/Shintoist banking? Any merits and demerits? huh

I have always said that both the Arabs and Europeans are simply brainwashing the Africans because for some reason it seems the Arabs and Europeans know something about the African Identity, that even the Africans themselves do not seem to know
thats because Arabs were the ones documenting African history before the arrival of the Europeans.
I am sure the cavity in your head is filled with mutton instead of brain matter. How and when did Europeans BUY 90% of Africa?. I said, cities are never owned and whomever buys deeds to any property has a stake in the city even more than a non lien holder. City is not and can never be  a private property. Get it in your tribalist head. It's only in backward Africa that people talk about owning cities.
Was it not me who asked you this question before you started spraying saliva everywhere?. Why are you asking me the same question I asked you when I've made it clear from the onset that no individual, race or ethnic group owns a city. You are yet to tell me the tribe in England that owns the city of London and the tribe that owns the city of Manchester. Also extend it to the ownership of Paris.

Like you said before, the tribe known as  English owns London. You need to ask your social studies teacher for a money back guarantee next time. Lmao. grin grin
Try to make your point without resorting to insults, since you're not the only one who knows how to insult people. Be my guest if you want to go that route with me.

You may have your personal beef with the British who refused you a visa, but that's your problem, not my own. So start a new thread to debate if the English are a tribe or not. That one no concern me and neither does it have anything to do with this topic.

And just because countries have opened their borders to Nigerian legals and illegals alike, including drug couriers, is no reason for you to pretend your village is El Dorado while all others are "owned" by immigrants.

Do you consider yourself smart? You tend to give the opposite impression. ie an idiot.

“As a proper African woman, I will continue to respect my husband and will not raise my voice against him, since he is the father of my beautiful daughter. I will not exchange words with him in the media. I wish him well in all his endeavours and I hope he wishes me well too,” she said.
good luck with that. Let her continue on her proper African woman crusade.

Hope the ex will be a proper African man.

na so Nigerians like to poke nose into other people's relationships.

If the man cares less who exits the plane first, helpful naija friends and relatives will inform him its not right and she's a bad wife.

Yar adua should do a few photo ops showing his wife trailing like fifty yards behind him.

people can die after breaking a prolonged fast (not the case here), but the whole thing sounds like poisoning to me.

I could be wrong however.

Adedibu fed his boys amala for decades and we didnt hear any reports of death among them due to amala.

Culture › Re: Why Do White People Only Know Yoruba Music? by tpia5: 11:56pm On Aug 30, 2009
news to me.

However, Fela's music wasnt Yoruba per se. He wasnt singing traditional Yoruba songs and his being Yoruba doesnt mean his music was.

He sang in pidgin English (not Yoruba)- this alone makes his songs accessible to a wider audience.

He employed half naked professional dancers and as you can see, played the piano because he was classically trained and a music graduate. In addition, he had numerous run ins with the govt because he was also a social critic who used music as an avenue for confrontation.

In short, he wasnt singing for a Yoruba audience but an international one.

Lagbaja is based on Fela so maybe the same applies, I dunno.

But I feel maybe you hang around Yorubas more which may explain why you think Oyibos only know Yoruba music.
I am tired of running around in circles with a certified dunce. English people are natives of England just like Nigerians are natives of Nigeria. English is neither a tribe nor an ethnic group. Which tribes and ethnic groups make up the english just like the anglos, saxons etc. Romans settled in London first and I asked a question whether the Romans should be given all accolade in London only for you to retort with the same question I asked you. If Ilorin locals are fighting for city ownership supremacy based on who emigrated to Ilorin first, how is it any different from every other city in the world?. Who should we give the title to the city of NY?.

City ownership supremacy is one plague among Nigerians I do not understand. What does it mean and what does it solve assuming Fulanis raise their hands and ask Yorubas to take their ilorin. Yorubas by population outnumber fulanis in Ilorin yet there is a cold war about ownership.

Ownership of what?. Who owns Douala,Abuja,  Lagos, PH etc and how do you own a place if the title to the property does not belong to you? huh. Jesus Christ.
the only person you're fooling here is yourself.

If you want to derail the thread because you say you dont know what it means to "own" a city, then be my guest. Play on semantics till you wear yourself out.

FYI owning a city doesnt have to mean the city in question was bought with cash, ok? Otherwise we might as well say Europe owns 90% of Africa back from precolonial times. Many of them still have the titles, leases, and thumbprints which legally give them African land.

So who has the title of London, Lagos, Onitsha, Owerri, Benin, Oturkpo, Enugu and Port Harcourt? You want to give us the lowdown?
Is the English an ethnic group or tribe?. How many ethnic groups are in England?. The Romans were the first settlers in London and so many big cities in Europe like Paris so, technically, they own London and Paris, if I should buy your one way reasoning. Londoners should stand at still for Romans because they own the city. undecided

So, who owns NY, Bremen, Stuttgart?
so because Nigerians and other foreigners have overrun all these places you mention, the owners of the place no longer have a say? huh

and because the Romans made London their base, now means the people they met in Britain no longer have a say there? huh Should Italy occupy London then? huh

It was traditionally thought that Londinium started as a Roman fort to defend the crossing, and later developed into a civilian settlement. However, archaeological excavation (undertaken by the Department of Urban Archaeology of the Museum of London, now called MOLAS) since the 1970s has failed to unearth any convincing traces of military occupation on the site, so many archeologists now believe that Londinium was the product of private enterprise. Its site on a busy river-crossing made it a perfect place for traders from across the Roman Empire to set up business.

The name Londinium is thought to be pre-Roman (and possibly pre-Celtic) in origin, although there has been no consensus on what it means. It was common practice for Romans to adopt native names for new settlements. A common theory is that it derives from a hypothetical Celtic placename, Londinion[3] which was probably derived from the personal name Londinos, from the word lond, meaning 'wild'

No2Atheism:
@tpia do u have any input or additional souce of information

i am trying learn and get to the bottom of the question. Considering that its a big question of far reaching ramifications if Tunde Idiagbon is not Yoruba, that means Fulanis might be the most dangerous people in nigeria.
People can have more than one ethnic identity at different points in time. The issue isnt as clear cut as one would wish.

If he says he's Fulani, then that's fine by me. If he says he's Yoruba, I could care less.

But as long as they're not doing it to cause ethnic tension, people should be whatever they're comfortable with. No one should be forced to disregard their heritage because others want them to, imo.
