someone's here to fight for big mac and mystery meats.

and the supersonic sized big gulpy.

even if they package hay for them to eat, they'll be happy as long as the label says america.
Politics › Re: Why Is America So Blessed? by tpiah: 6:13pm On Oct 15, 2010
i am not saying nigeria is better than america.

but lets get a little perspective.

dayokanu:
So what should we compare a Doctor in US to in China, India or Nigeria?
Are you aware OBGYNs are in huge demand in the US because many american doctors tend to shy away from that specialty?

What should we compare a McDonald staff to in China India and Nigeria? I would think the equivalent of a McDonald staff is someone who works in Mr Biggs.
what's the average cost of living in both countries.

That singular reason makes it easy for US to draw skilled workers from most countries in the world.
no one is arguing about that.

btw what do you call expatriate oil workers in nigeria?

A person eating a supersize Mac and Soda in US. If you find the equivalent in other countries is most likely going hungry or eating 0-1-1
supersize mac and soda is deadly. That's my point.

eating 0-1-1 is what many people in america are even trying to do in the name of dieting.

The worst person in America still gets to eat Big Mac and soda, The worst person in Nigeria drinks Garri once a day
drink garri and be healthy.

eat supersize mac and soda, and land in the emergency room every so often.

what gives? huh
Politics › Re: Did Our Teachers Lied? Ibb/Buhari Regime by tpiah: 6:01pm On Oct 15, 2010
In 1984 when Gen Buhari was our head of state, our teachers told us we are the leaders of tommorow, Now in 2010, Gen Buhari is contesting to be the president, is it that our teachers lied to us or what?

In 1988 when IBB was our head of state, our teachers told us never to worry that we are still the leaders of tommorow, Now in 2010, IBB is contesting to be the president again, is it that our teachers are perpetual liers or what?
no, your teachers did not lie because everybody cant fit into the presidential villa. Only a select number of people can.

if however you want to consider the possibility that there are other offices and ways to lead besides the presidency, then you might be on your way to making your teachers' prophecy come true.

dayokanu:
Definitely more in this case means better.

The average living conditions and purchasing power of an American worker is more and better than 90% of anywhere else in the world doing the same profession.
then that should tell you to adjust your comparisons and make them relative to the contexts of different countries.

a supersize mac and soda doesnt automatically translate to a better quality of living.
Romance › Re: The Ugly Side Of Falling In Love; A True Life's Story by tpiah: 5:43pm On Oct 15, 2010
True love is not evil. The thing many of you call love is mere infatuation that makes you to become obsessed with the lady you call your true love.

Love is far beyond the human understanding.Where you find it it is filled with peace of mind and strong positive affection devoid of sensual or immoral habits and thoughts.

You need to observe your thought life if you think you have fallen in love.
wow wow wow

^i dont know- many of the nigerian males on nairaland do nothing to counter the stereotypes about naija men being untrustworthy, liars and lacking in ethics.

On the contrary, you seem to want to reinforce them.

is there a particular reason for this?

just wondering.

Politics › Re: "No, Mend is Not Terrorist a Group " - EU. by tpiah: 4:34pm On Oct 15, 2010
Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or ideological goal, deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians), and are committed by non-government agencies.

Some definitions also include acts of unlawful violence and war. The history of terrorist organizations suggests that they do not select terrorism for its political effectiveness.[4] Individual terrorists tend to be motivated more by a desire for social solidarity with other members of their organization than by political platforms or strategic objectives, which are often murky and undefined
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorism

if you fit any of these definitions, then you're a terrorist.

doesnt matter what you say you're fighting for.

most people backstab when they get the chance.

it's not unusual though the person at the receiving end might feel hurt by it.

it's one of those things we all have to live with.

though sometimes it can get too much, i agree.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Churches Pay Their Instrumentalists? by tpiah: 2:28pm On Oct 15, 2010
alexleo:
The way some churches do it like my church is that we run a music school where people are taught this things free of charge and strictly for playing in our church and I can tell you that before you even enroll in the music school you must have spent some time in the church and we are sure you are truly born again. Even when you are learning it, if we discover that your life style is inconsistent with the word of God we sack you. If churches want free instrumentalists, they should invest in it and train them free. Not when somebody pays to learn it to earn a living you want him to play for free by force. It is not a thing of force. It is something that the person will do out of a willing heart so stop your condemnation. Churches pay pastors and bishops, they pay engineers and other skilled workers when they need their services and here you are condemning someone who pays his way through to learn music just like any other profession. YOU ARE WRONG PLS. Allow people to do something for God out of freewill and not by FORCE. At the same time I do not support churches who employ this musicians irrespective of their dirty life style. They should make sure that it is born again musicians that are playing for them. God is holy and we must worship him in holiness. Not anyhow. God bless you dear.
wise words.

my own concern is instrumentalists and anybody in the music industry need to be stricter on themselves because they are the first and most visible line of attack by the enemy, in any church.

God help us.

As a Kwaran, I have suffered the ignominy of being called all sorts of unprintable names. In discussions on other topics, especially as they pertain to national politics, I have been asked to shut up my mouth and go fix my ‘house’ first, as if my vote is enough to dislodge Saraki’s hold of Kwara that pre-dated my birth. Such is the level people descend to in discussing Kwara politics.
you take things too personally.

are you new to nigeria and nl and dont you know people address each other like that all the time regardless which state anybody is from.

Politics › Re: Why Is America So Blessed? by tpiah: 6:31am On Oct 15, 2010
the op's question defines blessed as:

Everything about the USA stands out. In politics, economy, sports, music, movies (Hollywood), lifestyle. Everything! Why are they so great? Is it how God destined it (are they the new Isreal), or is it just how things played out? What explains that supremacy of almost everything American?
ie why is america so successful at everything she does [not counting a couple of wars here and there].

well, for one, i think america cornered the entertainment market early on. This has helped a lot.

the entertainment niche is also diverse, reflecting the rich multicultural heritage of most americans though admittedly this is a more recent thing since before, blacks were negatively portrayed as we can still notice on BET a lot of the time.

America places value on science. An American discovered electricity and invented the telephone.

America showed the world Capitalism doesnt necessarily have to be a bad thing.

Jakumo: Black migrants have too much false pride. They don't care to live 10 deep, They see and want, They aim to please rather than to achieve. Asians ban together and plan long term. Blacks live for the moment and cannot resist the "crab-inna-barrel" mentality. They abandon their culture and adopt the negative sterotypes of the US black natives.
^^jakumo is self hating.

please do not make him go on rampage here.

nothing he wants to say that no one hasnt heard before.

and if you want to talk crabs in a barrel there are plenty of that type, jakumo included.
Politics › Re: Why Is America So Blessed? by tpiah: 6:12am On Oct 15, 2010
What I mean is that native Nigerians are working hard to destroy the nation. With their words and actions, they make the place as uninhabitable and ungovernable as possible.
no doubt.

probably unknowingly part of some grand plan to empty the region so others can take over.

after all we always hear stories of how blacks used to be somewhere but now are no longer there.
