No, its not fufu.

I remember eating it a long time ago. i think its made from dried casava.

Black amala is made from dried plantain.
if it's from cassava then it's probably fufu.

or do you mean lafun? I cant stand that stuff. shocked

wait- there's something else called kuruku from ikale side-maybe that's what you ate. It's made from cassava.

amala is made from yam or plantain flour.

i'm not used to the plantain one since i've rarely had it.

the taste may be different- probably too sweet.
Food › Re: Nigerian Cuisines - Photos And Discussions. by tpiah: 7:32pm On Jul 09, 2010
^^i dont know anywhere in yorubaland where amala isnt eaten.

are you sure you're yoruba cos i cant vouch for you.
Food › Re: Nigerian Cuisines - Photos And Discussions. by tpiah: 7:27pm On Jul 09, 2010
white amala sounds disgusting.

the stuff has to be dark, imo. Or else it's not amala.

when i first started making amala i got so frustrated when it didnt turn that really dark shiny colour. I'd even add palm oil so it could be smoother and shinier- all to no effect. I later found out i'd been undercooking it. I corrected my mistakes and from then on it was smooth sailing. The people wey eat that my whitish grey amala try sha shocked

what's this white amala? Never heard of it. Do you mean fufu.

@ you and bawomolo wey dey "form"

amala is eaten all over the southwest same way tuwo is eaten all over the north and middle belt.

lafun on the other hand, is mainly restricted to ibadan and kwara.

Romance › Re: Inferiority Complex in Dating and Relationships by tpiah: 6:05pm On Jul 09, 2010
Well in my life, I have been thoroughly outclassed [outsmarted] in a quarrel by two just women.  One of them is gay, and both of them are Yoruba, and I will never forget them. Maybe that is why I have these ideas that are not progressive at all; perhaps other Nigerian men are not like that, but I doubt it
yep, yoruba women do tend to be smart, and dont hide it.

Even the uneducated ones still have some level of savvy. call it juju or whatever.

men dont like that.

many of the men would rather you just shake your bum , show your bosom, and keep your mouth closed unless they need a blue job.

Romance › Re: One Fateful Sunday, After Church Service~ by tpiah: 3:33am On Jul 09, 2010
Imagine I became a pastor and we were married with one kid and living happily in the Lord. Also living with us is a male house help of about 23 years of age. His major work is to help in domestic works at home.

One fateful Sunday after church service our kid complained of not feeling too well and therefore had to leave the church immediately after service while we waited to attend various meetings at the church.

On getting home she went for a quick shower, took her meal and was ready to sleep (with only the towel wrapped round her waist) then suddenly heard a loud scream from the guest room.

She hurriedly rushed down to the guest room and found the house-help (in only his pants) with his legs trapped in the iron bed-post. He continued to scream in pain and as she rushed and assisted in disentangling her leg from the bed-post, her towel fell. She did not bother to pick the towel until she had disentangled his leg from the bed post. In trying to do this she had to lift his thigh up so that the leg would be freed.

It was at this point that we came in.

Also, several Yoruba houses I know have special chairs, plates and cups, etc for the father of the house. And some people do get offended if you sit on their husband's seat or mistakenly use his plate, etc. The father always get served first whether he is around or not and the father must always eat the best. Nothing wrong with this.
true, actually, in some homes.
