How did we get into this mess?

How did we become so blinded?

Who has bewitched us as a Nation?

When did an angel of darkness become an angel of light?

How did buhari suddenly become an agent of change?

Who sold us this dummy?

When did a stone turn into a bread?

Oh God! Deliver my nation from this impending bondage and servitude.

Amaechi thinks he can blaspheme God with profanity in a bid to score cheap political point.

He has just heaped coals of fire on his head and will live to regret this if he doesn't name them.

Since before Nigeria got its name, its been know that some bad elements among igbos as they are generally called are greedy , they love to chop alone , History has repeasted itself on several occassions and i assume it will again soon

All of this is all about money and OIL, Which they want to greedily sit on

As of today , OYEL is cheap , and there's no hope that price will soar again soon ,

For less than a million people to threaten one seventy million is just unfair

Loose talks will cause more tension

and GEJ or no GEJ , anyone who wishes to leave or break up the country through terrorism or militancy will loose their lives

The guy is fighting really hard to secure NOI's job but unfortunately all his allegations cannot be substantiated, Tinubu won't even trust him to handle such a sensitive position and most unfortunately Buhari isn't even qualified to contest an election.

barcanista:
Buhari assumed power on 31/12/1983 and started off on 01/01/1984. The problems he faced was not only dwindling economy but corruption and indiscipline. Read very carefully, he faced a multi-faceted problems and not just one.
However, his policies bore some fruits and the economy started bouncing back but want there yet. The OP's malicious article was given a summary on the loss of jobs by some employers. Under Buhari, corruption was drastically reduced, discipline was the order of the day, corrupt officials were jailed with others on trial, the inflation rate was cut from 23% to 5%, it could only get better...the IBB coup put Nigeria back to square zero. Abeg, I don tire to explain. These are simple things.
I just dey pity for your conscience, you keep defending the indefensible, your gradually declining to an apostate.

Those your statistics dont even reflect from what you posted as the current situation in 1985

You are a 419-er bent on bamboozling us, but you have failed! Why don't you respond to Seun's question regarding the blacked-out portions of the said article so that we can have full facts to make an informed judgment?

And if you are harping on records, by TODAY'S records, GEJ has apparently been touting a fake and fraudulent 'transformation' and frittered/mismanaged N30 trillion naira, an accusation his finance minister is yet to come out and defend, and here you are trying to scam us? Try harder bro.

barcanista:
You seem not to know the meaning of "Austerity". Well in layman's language, Austerity means adopting some mean economic measures to save an economy from total collapse. That mean measures usually come with temporal "hardship"which last between 6months-1year before the economy begins to bounce back when pursued holistically. Read the article again...Or maybe you should read about the austerity of Cyprus!
Check the news paper publication again.
It was published in 1985 while Buhari assumed power in 1983.
Going by your skewed definition and time frame of austerity(6months-1year) buhari still failed by your yardstick. He ended up plunging Nigeria into the dark ages of poverty and hardship.
A situation where things where difficult for the affluent, just imagine the condition of the poor.

barcanista:
The high inflation was inherited from Shagari's administration. The writer was saying that Buhari had to deal with it. At the end, our inflation decreased from 23% in 1983 to 5% in 1985. This is economic prudence!
You're right, let's blame shagari.
This news was published after 2years of overthrowing Shagari, yet you still deemed it fit to blame the poor shagari for Buhari's economic woes. Isn't 2years enough for a change?

The austerity measures made it difficult for local industries to procure essential imported raw materials, leading many of them to close or to operate at greatly reduced capacity. Many workers were laid off, and government itself retrenched many workers to increase its "cost effectiveness." All of these actions were accompanied by high inflation. The price of basic food items rose, and life became increasingly difficult, even for the affluent.
Things became difficult even for the affluent, how did the poor survive?

This Barcanista is not intelligent.
Excerpts from his post.

Dear Nairalanders, is this what you want?
The Buhari government investigated and detained the top political leaders of the Second Republic, holding them responsible for economic excesses of the previous regime. Constraints were placed on various groups, including the Nigerian Medical Association, which was outlawed, and the National Association of Nigerian Students, and it promulgated two decrees that restricted freedom of the press and suppressed criticism of the government. Decree Number 4 forbade any journalist from reporting information considered embarrassing to any government official. Two journalists, Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor, were convicted under the decree. Decree Number 2 gave the chief of staff at Supreme Headquarters the power to detain for up to six months without trial anyone considered a security risk. Special military tribunals increasingly replaced law courts while the state security agency, the National Security Organisation, was given greater powers.
As for me and my house, we have decided
