babafirst: I see it took you time to respond this time which means you probably thought a little deeper for an apt reply but as usual you still came up with no logical and intellectually refreshing response.Even to explain/analyse why my response is balderdash so I can be convinced, you cannot articulate so I will let you be. babafirst: You see you have brought another illogical and inconsequential argument.OK because MTN is employing over 50000 Nigerians and I am employing nobody means I should not criticize Mtn if they raise data price to 800 naira for 50Mb.My guy calm down and like I said earlier Babafirst who employs nobody is not bragging about his sacrifice/job to rub shoulders with Ben Murray Bruce but I only responded to your 'offer' of a job in Anderson or wharever you mentioned so close that matter .And lets face 800 naira per popcorn or MTN 800 naira per 50mb if it happens, those are issues ,not palmy joint gists like ' how many people I employ'.I am not flexing muscle with Ben Bruce but I am a customer who has patronized Silverbird before and that is enough justification/'locus standi' for my criticism and not turenshi (grammar) Balderdash! Try harder next time. |

For all you haters, this world is built on classes and levels. Anyone who can afford 800 for popcorn, whether joyfully or grudgingly is not part of the common man class.
Cinemas are not basic amenities. Nobody forces anybody to go there. You do not buy anything there at gun point.
There are options. Go to the end of your street, buy guguru 50 Naira, branch to the nearest viewing centre, pay 100 Naira, sit down and enjoy the show. The harmattan will provide natural AC. Make sure you come back here and relive your experience.
SMH for some people here. |

babafirst: I know you will come to the issue of the people I employ after raising the issue of Anderson or wharever. Please think deeply while reading this my reply .......Mentioning/'bragging' about my job/sacrifice was only a reply to your offer of employment in those financial institutions and not a reply/critic/comparism/flexing of muscle with Ben Bruce over the number of people Silverbird employs so it's illogical to reply you on how many people I employ. Now back to the issue at hand ......popcorn at 800 bucks. Quit the long grammar. I repeat, how many people do you employ to justify your attack on a private businessman that has many people on his payroll? |
TV/Movies › Re: Ben Bruce Replies Fan Criticizing Him For Selling Popcorn @800 At His Cinemas by tranxo(m): 8:07am On Dec 01, 2015 |
babafirst: I have a job with greater honour and sacrifice to nation so I don't need Anderson or Pricewaters.I analyzed it based on simple facts that don't require his financial records: a. An input from the person I replied, that popcorn sells for almost the same amount in the UK. b. Workable knowledge of socio economic factors in Naija and UK eg living standards, power situation, lifestyle. c. The very solid speculation that Ben Bruce is not paying even his most junior workers 30K per month talkless of the 120k minimum wage per month selling of popcorn at 800 naira would have warranted. So you see it's not everything that requires checking his books(which in Naija maybe easily manipulated). My preliminary investigation/assertion/speculation/rumour(wharever) is enough grounds for further investigation. How many people do you employ. Whether at, above, or below minimum wage. Greater honor and sacrifice indeed!! |

yjgm: Am glad you did mention it as his private business. The moment he equated that 'private business' of his with the happenings in the public and minimum wage, he's made it public.
The moment he became a senator thereby bringing himself to limelight, it is public.
The moment that business of his employs a thousand people, it is public.
The moment that 'private business' of his is for public consumption and he makes profit from there that he pays his staffs with, it is public.
So, that guy that criticized him for selling popcorn @800 is a stakeholder and deserve some respect.
Reason: a customer is always king.
No to oppression of customers, Nigerians. Poverty is a disease. |
TV/Movies › Re: Ben Bruce Replies Fan Criticizing Him For Selling Popcorn @800 At His Cinemas by tranxo(m): 7:18am On Dec 01, 2015 |
babafirst: If popcorn in the UK sells for almost that amount then you must realize the minimum wage per hour in the UK is about 5-6 pounds per hour depending on the age grade. That means about 40 pounds( 12000naira)per 8 hr working day.Multiply 12000 naira by 20 days(assuming they don't work day in day out as per Naija) and you have 240,000 naira per month, deduct 50% tax (exaggerated self) and you have 120000 naira. Is Ben Bruce paying minimum wage of 120K per month I know some people will say he uses generator etc but does Silverbird pay the kind of tax paid in the UK.The man should just shut up and not use the payment of minimum wage as an excuse for his greed. And in working out my numbers I have considered the socio economic factors in both countries and even with the analytical consentions I gave Silverbird his excuse holds no water,it's just exploitation. You must be a genius to stay in your room and analyze another man's business without seeing his financial records. Kindly apply to Arthur Anderson and Pricewaters for a position. Smh |
