You're right. All the leading candidates supported it but their manifestos and approaches are different toeards the removal of subsidy. Unfortunately,.most of those who voted across the lines of sentiments didn't have enough patience to read through LP's manifestos and their stance on subsidy removal. Their headache was Peter Obi who was the LP's candidate as vowed to jail their masters corrupt leaders, should he become president.

Tinubu's announcement od the removal of subsidy in his inaugural speech was tantamount to putting the cart begire the horse. See the way people are suffering nationwide? I thought democracy was government of the people and not government of the few. Hiw can you remove subsidy when palliatives weren't already in place? Why act so hurriedly?

We're just giants of Africa for nothing. We should be taking a cue from a country like Angola who reduced subsidy instead if utterly removing it after they had already had robust palliatives in place to cushion the likely effect if the subsidy removal. If care isn't taken, people would soon be stealing to survive in Nigeria

While some Nigerians have criticised him for his statement, others are wondering why Tinubu could be scared of being removed from office. As Nigerians await the final decision of the tribunal, let’s take a look at some reasons why Tinubu could be scared of being removed from office.

National chaos

Tinubu’s lawyers in their final defence statement to the court admitted his failure to score 25 per cent of votes cast in Nigeria’s capital Abuja. However, they said it was insufficient to overturn Tinubu’s victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
They also added that “any other interpretation different from this will lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature.” What this could mean is Nigeria could be thrown into chaos by some thugs, who will be dissatisfied with Tinubu’s removal from office.

He will not be able to complete his ‘renewed hope’ agenda

Another reason why Tinubu fears being removed from office is that his renewed hope agenda will be brought to an abrupt end.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Tinubu said, “I’m contesting this race to renew the hope and make the future great for our children. For Nigeria to stand united and develop, we require patience and wisdom.”
If he is removed from office, he will not be able to fulfil all the promises he made.
There may not be another opportunity for him

Tinubu’s desire to be president of Nigeria has been a lifelong ambition. He has been chasing this dream since he finished his tenure as Lagos Governor. If the tribunal removes him from office, there may not be another opportunity for him as his health and age may not be on his side.
He will be unable to fulfil the promises made to loyalists
Before Tinubu became president he could have made a lot of promises to loyalists and political godsons. This is evident in his conversations with the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi.

Umahi claimed that Tinubu was instrumental in his stepping down for the former Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio in the race for the 10th senate presidency.
Umahi also said, “When Tinubu came back he called me and we had a meeting and he said please I Have committed myself and it is his right to do that, this is the president-elect, 29th May, he is going to be the president of the country so if he had made promises of course when you are running for such office you must make promises So I won’t be a clog in the wheel of his progress, so I had to accept.”

This could be one of the reasons why he fears being removed from office.

Tinubu could be arrested for corruption and manipulation of election results

The president could also be dragged to court for allegedly engaging in monumental vote-buying and openly offering money and other gift items to voters in polling units spread across Kano, Kaduna, Imo, Rivers, Kebbi, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Kogi and Kwara states…
