After the policy meeting held today by Jamb, the body has been able to formulate certain policies to determine who get’s admitted this year. You may want to carefully go through them and as well let me know how you feel using the comment box.

Jamb Admission Policies
1.Beware of Change of Institution. Prof Oloyede warns.

2.Beware of the information you submit while registering. Your date of birth can cost you a lot when you are to be mobilized for NYSC – Prof Oloyede.

3.We are introducing a process to ensure admission is not delayed – Jamb

4.Universities are not permitted to hold on to a candidate for a long period. Once a University cannot admit, she is expected to release them to other Universities.

5.Before now, a candidate applies for Medicine and because the University needs more students in Agric, such student is moved to the department. The damaged is caused because such student won’t get to know until a later date. With the new system, no more…

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) says it will support Nigerian female politicians vying for elective positions in the 2019 general elections.

The UN Women Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka told the Correspondent of newsmen that there was the need to increase women participation in politics in Nigeria.




UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka when she visited Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Prof. Tijjani Bande to brief him about some of the agency’s activities in Nigeria The UN women chief was at the Nigeria House where he met with the Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Prof.

Tijjani Bande and the Deputy Permanent Representative, Amb. Samson Itegboje. Mlambo-Ngcuka had visited Nigeria in July alongside UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed to push ways to address the many challenges confronting girls and women in the country.

She said: “We also were in Nigeria to discuss the issue of women’s participation in politics. “We were also in Nigeria for how we need to increase the number of women participation in politics in the next elections and the strategies to do that”. According to her, the next step for UN Women in the area of women participation is helping to support the women who want to run in different parts of the country to prepare. Mlambo-Ngcuka pledged the support of the UN women agency in this regard, saying the men do a lot to position themselves.

“So we will be working with other civil society,” the UN Women chief said. According to her, she was at the Nigerian Mission to give the Ambassador feedback on the visit to Nigeria. She added that the briefing also included the progress the UN Women was making in Nigeria and the progress that Nigeria was making at the time of the visit.

“We were able to renew our commitment to support girls that were affected by the abductions – the Chibok girls in particular. “We were also able to look at the women and girls who were in the internally displaced persons’ camps and their conditions.

“This is to make sure that we address any violations of their rights that may happen. The government has already taken steps to address that, which we appreciate,” she said. Mlambo-Ngcuka explained that the UN agency was also doing a lot in the area of women peace and security in general in the country. “So it’s also supporting the different initiatives that government has in addressing the safety of women, including safe schools.

So we were able to discuss the next steps. She said the agency’s tactics was to join the activities of government to increase the awareness of the communities to what creates insecurity for the girls.

She added UN Women would also support the girls that had come back from Boko Haram abduction to de-stigmatise and to ensure their successful integration. She commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the way he handled the affairs of the country during the period he was in the saddle as the Acting President.

“When we were in Nigeria, we met with then Acting President and we really found each other on the same page and that’s why already we are seeing some follow-up. “This includes the fact that he is a ‘HeForShe’ and he’s then committed to relaunch the ‘HeForShe’.

A Texas woman has been crowned with the title of the world’s longest fingernails – and in total they measure more than 18 feet long.
The long nails belong to Ayanna Williams, a nail artist from Houston, Texas.
Her nails, each of which is just under two foot long, have earned her a place in the Guinness World Records 2018 Edition.
Having spent most of her adult life growing her nails, more than 23 years, she was first inspired by a friend and plans to continue growing them.
According to Dail ymail, She also revealed that the most challenging thing about having extremely long fingernails, which can take up to one week to paint, is pulling up her trousers.
While she’s constantly getting lots of attention for her nails, and knows she is rather unique, her friends and family think it’s quite normal.

Body of Nigerian bride-to-be who was carried away by flood after she drowned has been found

Body of Nigerian bride-to-be, 31-year-old Miss Olivia Uchechi, who drowned and was carried away by flood at Adoration Ministry in Uke, Idemili North Local Governement Area of Anambra on August 15th, has been found.


Olivia reportedly got engaged last December and was preparing for her wedding set for December 2017.
It was gathered the young lady drowned after she was carried away by flood. According to online reports, she fell into the gutter while easing herself and got swept off by the flood and her body was found in a neighboring village.

Her remains would leave the Mater Amabilis mortuary in Akokwa today, Monday, August 28, for her father’s compound in Umuyaku Umuopia in Akokwa, where she will be laid to rest after a funeral service at St Jude Catholic Church.

Popular hip-hop act, Olamide Adedeji, also known as Badoo has said that he dropped out of school but he was able to make it in life by discovering his talent and through dint of hard work.

He also identified discipline, commitment and being focused as catalysts for achievements in life.
Olamide said these on Friday when he went as a special guest of honour at the Summer camp organised by the Ogun State government at Akin Ogunpoola Model College, Akinale in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
The musician said he was determined to succeed in life against all odds, given the stark reality that his parents were poor, and were not able to pay his school fees at the higher institution, Punch learnt.
He said, “I am from Ogun State here, I do not joke with my culture and language, in fact, I came from a poor background. I had to drop out of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, when it was getting difficult for my parents to pay my school fees.
“However with doggedness, perseverance and hard work I was able to find myself where I am today.”

JAMB also announced that admission processes for 2017/2018 will begin on September 15 The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates that the 120 cut-off mark, does not guarantee automatic admission into higher institutions. JAMB, through its official Twitter account stated this, however the exam body offered more explanation.

The statement read: “The 120 cut off mark doesn’t mean an automatic ticket for admission. Institutions will still admit using established criteria of merit and others.

A teenage student from Milwaukee high school in Wisconsin, was caught on camera beating up his teacher in the middle of the classroom.

The shocking cell footage below captures the moment the 16-year-old student and his teacher were heard yelling at each other, before the first punch is thrown.
The South Division High School student punched his teacher in the head, causing him to crash to the ground before he continued to throw punches at him.
According to local station Fox 6, Police say the teacher’s injuries were not life-threatening and that they have arrested the student, who could face possible charges of battery.

As for JAMB cut off mark for polytechnics and colleges you should have 100. At the same time, if you want to get an education at innovative, enterprising institutes, your minimum score must be 110. Remember! Higher institutions reserve the right to increase the JAMB 2017 cut off mark above the minimum accepted by JAMB. In addition, admission into higher institutions with UTME exam 2017 should be completed on January 15, 2018. As for the private institutions, the deadline is January 31, 2018.

Decisions about admission of candidates into their first choice of institutions will be concluded by October 15, and for the second choice candidates, the deadline is December 15. Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede Mr. Is-haq Oloyede (the JAMB Registrar) mentioned that a Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be adopted to regularize the processes of admission into institutions The JAMB Registrar also added that schools could also make use of the dual mode system. In this case, both manual and the newly introduced CAPS can be adopted. He also noted that the candidates who chose to study Agriculture in higher institutions were low while those who wanted to study Medicine and Sciences increased this year. As for illegal admissions, Is-haq Oloyede said that the admission process is automatic and all candidates must be approved by the JAMB Registrar. Nearly 17,160 students have gotten admission into school without JAMB in Nigeria.

Mr. Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, declared a cancellation of the ban of Post-UTME examination as a premise for entering universities and polytechnics. He marked that post-UTME banning caused a lot of rules’ violations both by candidates and institutions.

The Minister also assured that a high number of candidates who took part at the 2017 UTME would enter the higher education institutions this year.
