Car Talk / Re: Custom Auctioned Vehicle by triaophant: 11:18pm On Dec 10, 2012
My friend those guys are criminals, just run from them. They mostly claim to be in Kaduna or such areas. I had an experince in June this year. I saw an advert of a Nigerian used 2005 Nissan Pathfinder for N800,000.00 and got interested and curious. When I called the seller, he claimed to be in Kaduna. I told him that I was in South South and he claimed that he has been delivering cars to individuals from that part. He requested for N50,000 to enable him bring down the vehicle, but I refused promising that I will pay on delivery with the cost of the vehicle if I am satisfied. He request for fuel money of N7,000 which I paid through a bank. He confirmed it and promised that the vehicle will arrive the following day. I was in contact with him and his alleged driver. I waited till 7pm without any news and called the so called driver who told me that he was at Lagos that his Oga gave him some items to deliver to his family. When I called the seller he confirmed the story and promised that the vehicle will arrive the next day. The next day when I called the driver in the afternoon, he claimed that he was arrested by the Road Safety at Warri and that they were demanding N50,000 otherwise they will impound the vehicle. When I asked him the offence, he said because he was driving with foreign number. I just asked him why a Nigerian used vehicle should drive with foreign number but got no good reply from him. When I called the Oga, he urged me to pay since the value of the car was far more than that. But I reminded him that legally the vehicle was his until I pay for it. That was when I told him that they were criminals.
Politics / Re: Enugu May Lose Power Ministry by triaophant: 7:49pm On Oct 16, 2012
Most of us just comment without doing proper research on issues. The President as it currently stands cannot deny Enugu State its own quota of a ministerial slot because it is provided for in the current 1999 Nigerian Constitution. There is a provision that each of the 36 States and FCT must have a minister to reflect the Federal Character Principle. However the President has the exclusive priviledge of allocating ministries to nominees who scale through the Senate screening. At most the President may allocate another ministerial slot outside the Power ministry to Enugu while another may take the slot if he deems fit.
On the nominations made by the Governor without consulting other stake holders from Enugu State, if it is true may cause some problems reason being that the Senators from may prevent the nominees from scalling the Senate screening. Therefore the must be a consensus.
Education / Re: Thugs Beat-up Teacher Who Flogged Oba-of-Benin's Grand-daughter!!! by triaophant: 4:04pm On Oct 12, 2012
The teacher should have shown great diligence in handling the matter. When dealing with certain issues we shoul apply our God given wisdom. The matter should have been reported to the parents of the child first. Canning a child to the extent of injury is abuse of her fundamental right, he may be dragged to court. I hear people talk about the school being a government owned institution, but a reasonable person should have remembered the level of respect accorded the Oba of Benin by Edo citizens and even Nigerians. You have heard that the Police were very careful not to get involved. I think the best action to take is for the school authority to approach the Oba for an audience.
Politics / Re: BPE Announces Buyers For Power Plants by triaophant: 11:31pm On Sep 25, 2012
Very funny indeed,do we mean to say that after the billions of dollars spent by Nigeria to build those power Plants, we are now selling them for pittance just to accommodate some more crooks? God is watching, that God that delivered us from Abacha in his own way will deliver us again at the fullness of time, Amen.
Politics / Re: Section Of Airforce-Flyover Bridge In Port-Harcourt Collapses by triaophant: 7:51pm On Sep 17, 2012
The question is who owns Bulletine that constructed the bridge, ordinary overhead bridge not even a flyover? Per-harps we should also we should also take a second look at both Woji and Elelenwo bridges that were also constructed by Bulletine. The Air Force bridge might be a child's play because it was built on land, what will happen if the other two built across water is to collapse? For a long time the Rivers state Government were aware that the bridge was a death trap, blocked part of it and yet did nothing. this is just a wake-up call.
Celebrities / Re: Pictures Of Monaliza Chinda In 2012 Shoot Out by triaophant: 1:06am On Sep 10, 2012
I have known Monalisa Chinda since her secondary school days at her Elelenwo,Obio Akpor hometown. I also knew when she was studying Theater Arts at Uniport. Infact her mother Florence was my direct supervisor at Port Harcourt Refinery before she retired.I remember when she used to come to our office with her mum to type her project paper. I also knew her late dad including her other siblings. One of her sisters De-dor is married at Umuahia and they reside in the US formerly in Dublin Ireland. For all I know about her family, she is naturally fair in completion. fairness runs in their family. Her late dad was very fair and robust. her dad was a clan chief but retired from government service, very handsome man indeed. Her mother Florence till today even with her age is a beauty to behold. She is also fair in completion. Her younger brother is even fairer than her, so also her younger sister that read English at Uniben. That one is a beauty to behold any day. Having some flesh is in their gene, though she needs to watch her weight a little. I think that she is Ok the way god made her and should be left alone.

Education / Re: Okorocha Abandons IMSU Relocation To His LGA by triaophant: 2:37am On Jul 27, 2012
I have read some comments on the above subject and observed that most are not true representation of historical facts. IMSU was established in the second republic by the NPP led government of late Dt Sam Mbakwe in collaboration with the University of Nebraska USA. At inception, the University took off at Madonna Secondary School Ihitte in the then Etiti LGA hometown of Governor Mbakwe due to availability of enough space and some facilities. Later, other campuses were established at Orlu,Owerri,Umuahia and Aba wzones with the main campus at Etiti in Okigwe zone.

Politics / Re: Should The Goverment Legalise And Promote Refineries As SMSEs by triaophant: 4:04pm On Dec 26, 2011
@sheyguy, the truth of the matter is that for sometime now, NNPC buys Crude at prevailing international market price for local refining. Formerly, Crude was allocated to the refineries for local refining. as the refineries became epileptic, much of the allocated crude was sent overseas for refining and brought back as imported product, but the procedure has been been discontinued. Warri refinery is currently the best producing refinery due to the fact that the FCC has been on steam for a very long time. Refinery problem is political in nature as the government interferes with its operations.
Politics / Re: Should The Goverment Legalise And Promote Refineries As SMSEs by triaophant: 3:53pm On Dec 26, 2011
dustydee or whatever you call yourself, stop talking trash when you know nothing about refinery operations. you are very ignorant about the reference you made and that is the Port Harcourt refinery. For some time now the FCC Plant of the refinery has been on steam and for that period, the refinery has been on profit making billions of naira for Nigeria. You only know about CDU process of the refinery and that is what is puffing your head. Let me tell you those who ought to know are aware of the refinery politics. Most of the best quality AGO in the Nigerian market is sourced from the Port Harcourt refinery, so also is PMS and DPK. I can tell you the last time PHRC imported products. The only problem is the power plant and I know that after the TAM of next year, we shall have a brand new refinery. Already the Storage tanks are being filled with real LPG and not the Propane that is being imported and sold to people.

Stanbic are just deceiving people who are gullible. They came to my office months ago and we did everything to convince our management to guarantee us to do business with them. However after months of domicilation of our account with them, we have discovered that the purported loan scheme is a fraud. we have written them series of letters to return all our documents with them without success. As a last resort, we are about taking legal action against them in a court of law and I bet you that will be well celebrated.
Career / Re: Airtel’s Indians To Reduce Staff Salary By At Least 60%: Strike Action Looms by triaophant: 5:19pm On Oct 01, 2011
Huummmmmm, Indians? They are very funny bunch. I remember years back they worked with us in a Federal Govt company in Port Harcourt as technical back-up I mean experts. But to our amazement, they destroyed one of the vital plants and till today that plant is dead. Nigerian personnel warned them but they felt that they knew nothing. The name of the Indian company is Cakasa and they are in the oil service industry. Why working with us, one day I was driving towards Port Harcourt from Eleme with them in a Jetta Executive car and bought N50 banana on the road. I gave them to share with me but they refused but thanked me anyway. I now ate the five or six fingers of banana all alone. To my surprise, they became offended on why I should eat the banana alone at once as that quantity should have been eaten in five or six days. that is to say one finger of banana for one day. Mind you the banana was bought by me with my own money. They are terrible people, polluting the environment with all manners of chemical affluent. I pass Eleme Petrochemicals almost daily and sometimes do go there to either cash money in Union Bank located there or on official duty into the plant complex area, that place is more than Kirikiri maximum prison. Soldiers everywhere. Even when the bloody fools travel along the Eleme Port Harcourt route, the kind of intimidation their heavily armed long military convoys exhibit on innocent Nigerian road users is another story entirely. Nothing for the host communities in terms of development except environmental pollution. They salary they pay Nigerians dying slowly in that plant is another issue all together, just peanuts and the work like slaves. I have a lot of people known to me working there. Even the left over Coaster buses used by former Eleme Petrochem under NNPC is still in use by Nigerian workers yet the Indians change vehicles for themselves and the intimidating soldiers all the time.

Career / Re: Abj Law School Dress Code by triaophant: 1:13am On Sep 02, 2011
@uche13, thanks for recognizing that I left the Law School sometime ago, but in Legal practice, your year of call to Bar matters. The older the better. I have as a result taken some time to look at the current courses and they are almost the same as in practice you are going to follow the same procedure. I had the opportunity of meeting and discussing with many of my past Lecturers at the Law School including a DDG of a Campus during the recently concluded NBA Conference in Port Harcourt and I discovered that it is the same with slight modifications. Again, Law School is for professional training from its inception, that is why you are attached to Law Chambers and the Law Courts for three months. However after the Law School, legal practice is a different ball game out there as NO LECTURER AT THE LAW SCHOOL WILL TEACH YOU SOME TRICKS OF THE PROFESSION, YOU LEARN THEM WITH PRACTICE EXPERIENCE. THEY ARE NOT FOUND IN ANY LAW BOOK. My advice therefore is for you to study hard, pass your bar exams and if found FIT AND PROPER get called to the Bar and meet us in Court. I rest my case.

@Glamourgal, I may not be disposed to answering your further questions since it appears that you already have links with the Law School.
But for those who do not have such opportunity, here are the answers to your questions;
For Bar Part 1, the courses are as provided by your friend,
it is also true that all foreign Law graduates are admitted to Abuja Main Campus at the rural Gwari;
However whether you are at Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Kano, Bayelsa or the other campus, the teaching pattern are the same, dressing same, infact the exam is the same and they start and end at the same time. For the marking of the scripts, all campuses are involved and it is centrally done at Abuja'
For Bar Part 11, these are the Courses: Company Law and Practice, Criminal Procedure, Civil Procedure, Law of Evidence, Legal Drafting and Conveyancing Practice, then Professional Ethics and Allied Matters which includes; Advocacy/Legal Skills, Legal Practitioner's Account and Law Office Management.
All the Courses taught at the Law School are intended to serve mainly Two purposes, to enable you train professionally to become a Lawyer and also pass all the prescribed exams for qualification to be called to the Nigerian Bar. apart from those who studied overseas in common law countries, you have no control as to where you are to be posted, however you have to make two choices out of which you are sent to one of them. But if you are interested in any campus, you have to justify it with a very strong reason. For the Hostel, you have no control. You also have to make do with occupying a room with one other person or more. The bed arrangement maybe single or double bonk, feeding is at the cafeteria on pay as you eat basis or on fixed price per plate of meal. If you are at Abuja Campus, you may shun the cafeteria and walk across to Jegede Market where there are many Bukas and have you fill at average price. You may also live off campus or in nearby Hotels which ever way you may choose, however I WILL ADVICE THAT YOU STAY IN CAMPUS.
For Lectures, it is from 8.30am to 4pm from Monday-Thursday while you close by 2pm on Fridays. In between school hours, you have 5mins break to enable students ease themselves, 30mins short tea break at 11am then 1hr break. However, after the initial few weeks, students are then grouped for mandatory tutorial classes which is from 4-5pm daily with the exception of Friday. You must also participate in the mandatory 3mnths chambers and court attachment, there is also the two law dinners at the law school and one week moot court and the law school games, you can also participate in sports and campus fellowships. it is fun but law school is for serious business. There are no private teachers attached to each student but you are free to walk to any lecturer, you can also study with fellow students. as for digital recorders, it is not permitted as you are trained to be fast in writing, phones are not also allowed except it is on silent mode, but recently it is allowed to use your laptop.

Business / Re: Who Can help me Register a Business Name/Company in Nigeria? by triaophant: 10:04pm On Aug 21, 2011
Poster, your request is very vague, by company registration do you mean registration of business name or are you referring to incorporation of a company. while for the former the process is not all that demanding, the later is cumbersome and very demanding. the cost for both of them is not also the same. By the provisions of company And Allied Matters Act 1990 as amended, ONLY LAWYERS are allowed to incorporate a company with Corporate Affairs Commission. It therefore follows that you should contact a lawyer to do that, any other person claiming to do that is either a scammer, or commissioned agent.
Career / Re: Abj Law School Dress Code by triaophant: 9:33pm On Aug 20, 2011
@Glamourgal let me borrow your language, at the Nigerian Law School the following courses are offered and they are compulsory. There are no options. Every candidate (potential lawyer) must sit and pass all the prescribed courses before qualifying for the Bar Part 11. The courses are: Nigerian Law of Contract, Nigerian Constitutional Law, Nigerian Criminal Law, Nigerian Legal System and maybe one or two other courses that I cannot remember for now. These course are taught at the undergraduate level of Nigerian universities. Foreign Universities do not offer them and to become a lawyer in Nigeria, you must be grounded in all those core courses. At undergraduate level in Nigeria, those courses are compulsory and not elective, you must pass them otherwise you will not graduate or be awarded your LLB Degree.
For the Bar Part 11, the courses are Nigerian Law of Evidence, Legal Drafting and Conveyancing Practice, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Company Law and Practice and the General Paper which includes, Advocacy, Solicitors Account and two others that I cannot immediately recollect. All the courses at the Law school are compulsory, there are no options. If you fail one course, you will be given a conditional pass that is to say you will will repeat that single course, but if you fail more than one course, you will repeat all the courses and pass them otherwise you will not be called to the Bar. You may also pass all the prescribed courses but not allowed to be called to the Bar. That is to say that apart from passing all the courses, you MUST BE A FIT AND PROPER PERSON.
For the dress code, please let nobody deceive you. You may earn yourself summary expulsion for not adhering to the Law School Dress Code. Remember to become a learned gentleman, you must be a fit and Proper person including adhering to dress code obtainable at the Law School. All the Campuses are the same and the same rules apply. The multi-Campus system was introduced to accommodate the backlog of Law graduates. The Dress Code is for Males, Black Suit, Black trouser, Black Shoe, Black stockings, white long sleeve shirt, black belt and black tie. But due to the Hot Nigerian weather, you can wear white shirt with black tie leaving behind the black jacket. For females it is the same, Black knee length skirt suit, black shoe, white shirt, the hair must not be very loud, minimum jewelry, bags may be of colour but black is better, no slits on the skirt or you will not be allowed into lecture halls, females may wear white shirt without the jacket with black shoe. However, on Fridays, students are allowed to wear Traditional wears with matching shoes to promote Nigerian culture.

I think that the said Army Captain is a real Christian, otherwise that Deputy Governor's wife or so would have been answering for her deeds before her Creator by now. The Officer is very meek indeed. As for the judgement, it is not good enough. They can appeal and get a better judgement. This time around, they should expose it to the press so that the world will know what the so called democrazy is doing in Nigeria.
The former Governor of Imo State, Ohakim that assaulted a Revd. Father is now history. That singular foolish act contributed in no small measure to his loss at the pools. By that singular act of his, he also made Okigwe Zone of Imo State to wait for so many years before they will occupy the Imo State Government House. Though Ohakim later begged for forgiveness, the people forgave him but did not forget.
Career / Re: Abj Law School Dress Code by triaophant: 1:20pm On Jul 10, 2011
@ Dis Guy, the law school education in Nigeria is not the same as in USA and UK. It is not a University or for Masters degree programme. Nigerian has only one law school ie Nigerian Law School at Gwari Abuja with other campuses in the Geo Political Zones of Nigeria, however their curriculum and administration is the same. Apart from Abuja campus where the Director General in in-charge, all other campuses are supervised by the Deputy Directors General. The Nigerian Law School is however under the supervision of The Council of Legal Education of Nigeria with its Board and the Body of Benchers of Nigeria that are solely responsible for the call to Bar of Nigerian lawyers. You can only qualify for admission to attend the law school if you are a law graduate from a Nigerian Recognized University and the spaces available are very limited. Remember undergraduate training in Nigerian University is Five years. You can only apply for admission through your University after graduation. For foreign trained Nigerian graduates , they must have obtained their degrees from a recognized Common law country. As a Nigerian foreign graduate, you will be admitted to Bar Part 1 and if you pass all your prescribed courses , you will then qualify for Bar Part 11 and you must pass all the courses to qualify for call to the Nigerian Bar to practice as a Solicitor and Advocate of The Supreme Court of Nigeria. In UK you train to become either a Solicitor or Advocate but a Nigerian trained lawyer combines the two. The law school is where you are trained professionally after your academic qualification from a university. The lecture halls are very large so as to accommodate all students in that campus at the same time for lectures. It is not like a law court.

naijacutie, sorry i did not intend to insult you. Business is a little to the right and a little to the left. That is to say a win win affair. We must surely bargain as Nigerians. We are still negotiating unless you want me to believe that Yours is Kingsway Supermarket where the price cannot be changed. You do not expect me to just pay your price without bargaining, neither do I expect you to accept my offer without considering your profit margin. For you to tell me that I should show you where I can buy designers fo 2,000 naira and you will buy from me is very insultive. I expected you to move down a bit, that was my request and you asked me to suggest the price and I suggested. So where did I go wrong. Good evening, sorry that is the time over here in Port Harcourt. Thanks for your response to my earlier enquiry. You asked me the price that I am looking at. Remember the wholesale price is not the same as retail price. Again I had to compare the wholesale price over here in Nigeria of the same brand and quality with what you are offering me and then had to make my deductions. Moreover, we are just about trying to establish some business relationship and if it works out well, maybe some other persons may be introduced as well. So think of the long term relationship and not only for one deal. Come down to something reasonable my Dear. -N-3,300.00 is still on the high side. Other dealers may also be able to give their own gift items as well to their customers especially for a new one. But for your information, I am resident in Port Harcourt.
Regards.

Just saw your response to my inquiry. I am however not too comfortable with the prize tag that you placed on the items. designer perfumes I know are of different brands and therefore not of the same quality. Two hundred thousand naira for a box of 60 perfumes is not all that good for a reseller. i know what similar brands sell for over here. If i then fix the prize based on what you have offered, don't you think that i will overprice those customers who genuinely want to buy. Mind you I want to buy from you to resell and not for my personal use you know. But that does not mean that the quality will be compromise. Come down and then we can talk.
Waiting for your response.

It is very sad indeed. I am still having some doubt that Uche of all persons killed himself. In our hometown, it is an abomination for someone to do that. If it were before, such persons are normally thrown into the evil forest. Uche that I knew from his hometown Ezeakpi Umuabali Ubomiri, in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, the same kindred and village with the owner of Zinox Computers, with all his investment at home and abroad under normal circumstances cannot take his life. I am just thinking of his twin brother who runs most of his businesses at Owerri and in Nigeria. He also played football with Iwuanyanwu National FC, but retired when Uche requested that he should take charge of his growing businesses. He was very kind to a fault and was ready to help those who came across him. If it is true, may God have mercy on his soul.

UMARU MUSA YAR'ADUA, GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, DR. HASSAN LAWAL he was formerly at the Law Faculty of Unijos before he became the Company Secretary of Port Harcourt Refinery before his friend Dan Etete made him his Special Assistant, Prof. Dora Akunyili, very unfortunate that her lofty height achieved at NAFDAC has been rubbished overnight by her unreasonable acceptance of being in this NYAMANYAMA GOVT. that lacks direction, Dr. Sam Egwu and others that I am not aware of. A bill that was sent since 2008 is now being remembered, is the national Assembly not still sleeping? Wither the 6000MV of electricity by December 2009? They should just shut up, Nigerians can manage themselves without any leadership afterall, we attend private schools, generate our electricity, provide our portable water, provide our security, DO WE STILL NEED ANY GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA?
