VEE2010:
Clearly, her account is not too far from what has been widely reported, however, she did not mention the part that she fumed and hurl insults on the flight attendant and even the airline through out the airborne.
On the other hand and to be fair to her based on what has been reported so far, she had two phones, one of which was already switched off, except for the one with a faulty control button, which can happen to anyone. The only point that surprised me was that she couldn't follow a simple command list even when being led to do so and yet she had two phones in her possession. Anyway, it is what it is, because we're in Nigeria.
Nothing like she she "hurl insults throughout the flight" and couldn't follow simple instructions to switch off her phone.

She said she couldn't turn it off because of a faulty button and begged the air hostess to assist, but she declined. If she didn't want to turn it off ,she wouldn't not have allowed the fellow passenger who took the phone from her to turn it off from the phone's setting.

I don’t believe her story!

She’s lying!

She’s not the girl to ignore a side remark from an attendant.

Nigeria promotes and tolerates rubbish.
You're not in a position to say she's lying. It's the responsibility of the airline to do so since they have the footage of al that transpired from take off till deboarding of passengers in Lagos. Let them release all the videos connected with the incident.

Moreover, her story alings with other eye witnesses account. So ,who then is lying

Listen up!

NOW, with what you posted right above, you are sounding like someone who NEVER worked in the aviation industry like you earlier claimed! You have to always come correct and STOP padding this event any further with innuendos about an imaginary "self-defence" while justifying violence which is a criminal offence. Physical assault is legally a criminal offence worldwide! The ignorance of the law is NOT an excuse.
What has working in the aviation industry got to do with the law which helps to determine what should be judged physical assault or self defence. I only mentioned the aviation industry to explain why I think the airport security didn't respond on time. I said the delay was because the air hostess who wanted to use her influence at MMA to get her arrested without involving the pilot, but it backfired since the victim did the right thing to fight back
As for physical assault and self defence, you clearly don't know the difference . If someone is about to kidnap you or keep you hostage somewhere and you do everything physically do resist the person even to the extent of causing them physical harm, it's not assault but self defence. Please ask a lawyer to educate or read the statement issued by the NBA to understand it better.
What rule of law gives anybody the right to physically assault aircraft crew and airport security people on board an aircraft and off the aircraft with hot slaps, blows and kicks due to a so-called self-defense? Every lawyer in online video news reports and podcasts that I've seen and heard discuss this topic within the last 4 days certainly condemned that act of violent, unruly behavior from Comfort but ALSO emphasized that the deboarding could have been done better. The so-called NBA dudes ONLY condemned the manner she was deboarded or taken off the aircraft by the airport security men due to the FACT that her boobs popped right out of ripped tops because she was braless (BUT Comfort Emmanson caused it all because she was violently kicking and resisted being taken off the aircraft while wriggling her body around), and the frictional force made her light top to get ripped off. These are ALL CLEARLY captured right in the 4 detailed videos showing detailed scenes on the aircraft and off the aircraft in Lagos which I've seen from credible aviation sources.
All of the above is rambling. Comfort acted in self inflicted defence to free herself from those who wanted to imprison illegally and it was good she did so if not by now the public would not know where she was taken. She is brave girl .She fought for her life and should be commended, not vilified as insane or unruly.

Just as I stated, it's good that a de-escalation of the situation has occured and the punishments have been reduced for all sides. Aviation security is very important worldwide and that's what matters to me and other members of the flying public. I'm done with this thread and people have to deal with more important issues in their personal lives. Period.
Which aviation security are you talking about? No evidence has been provided by the airline backing the accusation of her not turning off her phone at Uyo airport as well as assaulting any cabin crew member there

The only videos which are being widely shared are the ones that contained only what happened in Lagos where three was no need to arrest her.

Why have they refused to release the ones which edicted them?

@judewrites

Indeed, right from my posts yesterday, I too have stated CLEARLY that it's a blessing in disguise that the aviation and aircraft unruly passengers situations which occured WITHIN 1 week, and it would enable the upgrade of all boarding and airport security protocols to be put in place with the provision of tasers, handcuffs and more to restrain future unruly passengers because it will occurs from time to time. It could have been WORSE if it was a terror gang that was onboard that Ibom Air flight with the slow response time of the airport security men to Comfort's case.

So, I commend your civil online responses and absolutely agree with you that the situation has been de-escalated and all of them (including the Captain and First Officer of ValuJet have been given shorter licence bans of 1-month. Kwam 1 has been given a 1-month ban from flying down from 6-months which I support and Comfort who was engaged in physically assaulting her own fellow women with hot slaps has been given a reprieve from jail. So, folks should move with other important things in their live BUT future unruly passengers' situations MUST be met with maximum punishments based on the rules of law.

Cheers.
It's wrong to frame comfort's behaviour as unruly. That's the narrative which the airline has tricked your minds to believe.

She acted in self defence due to extreme provocation and that's not what it means to be unruly.

She fought against the injustice that was meted to her by the airline staff . She wasn't guilty of what she was accused and that was why NBA has come out to condemn how she was manhandled which made her to fight back.

As a frequent flyer myself who is big on aviation safety, I wanted to do my due diligence to avoid all these fake news online from bloggers and posters, so, I watched 4 different credible FULL videos online just 3 days ago of the sequence of events and she ABSOLUTELY wasn't provoked. I will give you more insights right BELOW.

You've ONLY seen one of the videos which shows part of what occured after landing in Lagos which is what a lot of people are being shown for political propaganda purposes or manipulate public opinion because it is a shorter video clip. If you and others get to see the 4 FULL videos I'm talking about which I've already downloaded from IG and YouTube, you will all change your minds about her.

Because of that girl's highly violent actions before takeoff and majorly after landing, the Air Ibom Captain had already contacted the airport security men to come over and deboard (or get that unruly girl off the aircraft) and this was done after all the passengers had disembarked leaving her behind for the security men to come over to deboard her and this is when she slapped that Ibom Air hostess who was standing at the plane entrance in addition to the other crew she had assaulted before.

To be honest, I too was very pissed off at the air hostess' action for backing Comfort Emmanson because she could have been pushed down from the plane if Comfort who I strongly suspect was engaged in illicit substance abuse or had mental health issues (leading to mental confusions) had totally gone bunkers. The entrance door should have been shut for some time after other passengers had left BUT in reality, the relatively slower response of the airport security men also caused that situation to occur otherwise I EXPECTED that the security men should have reached the aircraft as soon as it landed right in Lagos. However, it was the girl's violent resistance to arrest by the aurport security men that led to her top getting torn and her boobs popped right out as seen in the video. She also slapped another elderly woman who came to intervene after being taken off the aircraft and she further kicked and hit the security men while being driven off in the Coaster bus. What she did was a case of physical assault (hitting, kicking, and slapping) which is a standard criminal offence worldwide. Ignorance of the law isn't an excuse.

However, she has to be evaluated to detect if she has been using illicit substances or has mental health issues which can be treated. There are many people walking around as if they are OK and ONLY a small trigger is what is required to bring out that negative energy in them as seen on the Ibom Air and ValueJet incidents.
You certainly don't know what you're saying.

Where is the evidence she acted unruly and disrupt flight before take off?

Can you provide that?

According to you she caused disruption of flight, yet she wasn't deboarded in Uyo and arrested like Kwam, but flown to Lagos for arrest. Why should this make sense to any reasonable person is what I don't understand?

Are there no airport security and policemen in Uyo?

My friend, it's really unfortunate how most of have swallowed without questioning the heavily distorted order of event presented by the airline to support their maltreatment and humiliation of a regular customer.

Ibom air has succeeded in tricking your minds to believe that it' was immediately after she was asked to turn off her phone she started insulting and slapping the air hostess .

Ask them to release all the footage, especially the ones in Uyo so the public know the truth .

You're defending nonsense and oppression .

Modified. The reason I believe the airport security were slow in responding was obviously because the pilot wasn't in the know of what was to happen. It was the rude and power drunk air hostess who wanted to engineer her arrest after landing.

I know this to be true because I worked in the industry before. If the pilot wanted to arrest her or was the person who called for her arrest,he would have done so professionally by informing the control tower in MMA as the approached Lagos airspace of the presence of an unruly passenger that must be evacuated immediately from the plane .If he made the call the incident we watched wouldn't have occured.

The control tower would have immediately contacted airport security and the police alerting them of the situation so that they position themselves at strategic positions, the tarmac especially, the arrival hall and the car parking space in case somebody was waiting to pick her.

But none of this was done and the result was the ugly incident we all watched that unfolded at the airport.
Please you people should stop arguing what you're not too well informed in. The pilot couldn't have directed that can of sloppy and unprofessional arrest of an unruly passenger. No way .

And don't think you're a frequent traveler. Nairaland is a faceless forum where it's easy for anyone to lie about what they're not or done before

depezee:
Evil hostess indeed.

Keep supporting evil.
All of you have turned blind eyes not to see the h00kup girl slapping the air hostess anyhow as if she was her servant. Non of you will condemn that disrespectful act.
The air hostess certainly deserves the "slapping" she received because she not only provoked comfort unduly before that time, but also took laws into her hands to detain her within the confines of the empty aircraft without any justifiable reason.

There was no reason whatsoever to keep her hostage or arrest her. The accusation she refused to switch off her phone ,which happened in Uyo, not Lagos has been proven to be false by several eyewitnesses in the same plane she boarded .

Moreover there's no law which mandates an airline staff to arrest and detain a passenger who refuses to turn off their phone. The only thing they would have done if it were true she refused to turn off her phone to disrupt flight take off was to deboard her from the plane in order to prevent her from flying with them.

They never did that, meaning there was no perceived threat to other passengers and the airplane itself ,but choose to fly her to Lagos and even served her well during the he course of the flight.

So why the humiliation and provocation for something she wasn't guilty of at MMA?

Can you answer this question?

The NBA position on the matter and the Minister's intervention suggest her reaction wasn't unruly or insane as described by some of you, but self defence in response to extreme provocation and perceived threat to her life.

Why forcing her to remain in an empty aircraft after smashing her phone on the floor? Were they planning to kidnap her and use her for money ritual?

Yes, why won't she think that way and nurse such fears?

The air hostess whom you're feeling sympathy for is currently being called out everywhere online by other female passenger she has maltreated and embarrassed in the past. She is described as disrespectful and very rude to passengers. Nobody has said any good thing about her.

And in this particular situation she met her match who returned fire for fire. So she can't complain. Karma caught up with her

Eeyah. I am privileged this night to be reading comments that align with how the law is interpreted.

I don't understand how all these social media youths that are supporting her don't just ask their friends who have a law background to explain all these without prejudice.

Thank you for your comment.
You have a law background yet, you don't know it is wrong to jump into conclusion without hearing from the other party.

The account from Ibom air and the video you watched about her fighting the airline staff cannot give you a complete picture of the whole incident: how it started from Uyo and the commotion that ensued later in Lagos.

The government has already ordered her immediate release from detention and that was because after investigation they discovered she was unduly provoked and humiliate right from Uyo to Lagos where they attempted to falsely detain her for no reason, not caring if she had an important appointment to keep with on that same day.

Other passengers who boarded the same aircraft with her from Uyo have all come out say that there was never a time the lady refused to switch off her phone, and that it was a simple case of misunderstanding which was excalated by an overbearing cabin crew member, but was finally settled by the intervention of other passengers before take off,

But surprisingly when they landed in Lagos the airline decided to detain her in the plane and hand her over to the police. What for? In fact it wasn't arrest but attempted kidnapping .
Why?
Answer me Mr lawyer .

And again, Mr lawyer, which law says that if an airline passenger will not switch off her phone immediately when asked to do so ,but later does so, she must be arrested at the next airport ?
PoliticsRe: Court Discharges Ibom Air Passenger by triplechoice(m): 10:04pm On Aug 13, 2025
AkumTemi:
Then her approach or response to the air hostess might have triggered the quarrel then. Because I can't imagine why the lady picked on her out of all the passengers on board.
No. It was the other way round. Other passengers from the same aircraft have come out to say that they lady who "picked on her" is ill-mannered and disrespectful. She has been identified has the person who escalated the situation right from Uyo due to her overbearing attitude.

They all confirmed that there was never a time the young lady refused to switch off her phone. At first, when she was asked to turn it off, she responded that it was on flight mode , but when they insisted it must be completely switched off ,she made them understand that the button to do so was faulty ,and then politely offered the phone to the air hostess, pleading with her to help her switch it off from the settings since she couldn't do it herself .

But the arrogant air hostess would have none of it ,and began to rudely address Emmanson, calling her a disrespectful child without home training, etc ,until a fellow sitting close to her offered to help her switch it off.

And when it was time to disembark in Lagos, the same power drunk and vindictive air hostess tried to prevent her from disembarking , declaring to her face she was about to be handed over to the police for disruption of flight take off ,and that was when all hell broke loose.

Those blaming Emmanson for the way she reacted are all talking nonsense. To me her reaction matches the situation she was forced into by the airline staff who decided to humiliate for no reason. It was extreme provocation and senseless. She fought for dignity ,right, life by returning fire for fire, madness for madness .

Why trying to arrest her in Lagos, not Uyo, for something another passenger has helped to resolve long ago ? Is that not abusing power to oppress a passenger they consider a nobody?.

This is the pure fact... marrying a virgin is not an automatic guarantee that you'd have a successful marriage.
I think it's under 25 - 30yrs guys that have such mentality. Most of them have rushed to marry rubbish as wife simply because they met her as virgin.

It's brain and character that you need in a woman.. all other features including virginity are secondary.
A sense.less woman (virgin or otherwise) will drain all your energy as a man.
So Ned Nwoko and others like him who
Prefer virgins are under 30s?

You don't get it. I said contrary to what you think, most men in this part of the world aren't going after virgins because they believe it will guarantee a successful marriage. That's not their look out,but the things I mentioned.

Ned Nwoko is a popular example of what I have explained. He never dated Regina for long or dated her at all to know much about her, but only decided to marry her after confirming she was a virgin . That was the only thing.

And the same man has repeatedly announced publicly that he doesn't do non virgins

So ,if most Nigerian men also think like him, which I confirmed they do,whom are you then advising? Certainly not them
RomanceRe: Virginity doesn't guarantee a Successful Marriage by triplechoice(m): 9:07pm On Aug 12, 2025
Truvelisback:
Good day, fellas. Virginity doesn't guarantee a successful marriage. Yes, it doesn't. You can marry a virgin lady and the marriage can still crash if she is ill-mannered and disrespectful and you can still marry a non virgin lady who is good mannered and respectful and still have a successful marriage.

Having a virgin as a wife doesn't guarantee that she won't cheat on you and vice versa. The Character is the goal. I'm speaking from experience.

My candid advice for men: Don't marry any lady who is loosed. Watch carefully. If you think marrying a virgin will guarantee you a successful marriage, then you must be a joker. I have met many brainless virgins. This is not to say that virginity isn't important but if a good character isn't attach to it, it is useless.
Cultural, religious (superstition) and social considerations ( their egos) are the primary reasons most men in this part of the world prefer virgin brides over non virgins and not necessarily because they believe marrying a virgin will automatically guarantee a successful marriage.

Virgins are regarded as pure ,and disciplined for not losing their virginity before marriage . They also believe that marrying a non virgin will taint their family lineage or make them inherit all of the the curses from the men who have slept with them. Finally , none of them wants to marry what they refer to as "damaged goods" or "used product"

This is it and not what you're thinking.

That is exactly where the problem is.

You guys are derailing this thread because you believe that this is a competition with football. It is not.

In every country in this world there is a most popular and dominant sport, in Nigeria it is football. That's not what this thread is about.

This thread is about people that say that nobody plays or knows about basketball in Nigeria and that all national team players were born abroad. That is not true.

Basketball is played across Nigeria, there are many clubs, there are many public courts, there are many people that are interested in it, there is a home grown basketball culture, etc.

American football (gridiron) is the most popular sport in America, but there are also many places in America where it is not played (places in Alaska for example), does that mean that it is not popular in America??

SportsRe: D'Tigress' Home Grown Players And The Popularity Of Basketball In Nigeria by triplechoice(m): 1:54pm On Aug 09, 2025
Amotolongbo:
Basketball was popular and is still popular but not as football.
The reason I think it is not so popular in Nigeria like football is the more complexity in the game facility setup for recreation in our local communities. For football you could easily put two stones together on any ground with few metres between them and call it a goal post, game don start be that. It is not like that for basketball where you need smooth screed for ball to bounce and you can’t hang basket on trees for “pikins” to start aiming the inside of the basket.
The OP isn't arguing that basketball is more popular than football in Nigeria ,but arguing that it's popular amongst Nigerians who play it and follow the game, which is very correct.

Popularity is a relative term. The popularity of basketball in Nigeria doesn't mean it's equal to football in folllowership. It's simply means that in this country,we have a significant number of Nigerians who play and follow the game .This group of Nigerians is what is being mentioned and discussed here. Simple.

Those of you trying to derial the thread should try and make sense first of what you have read so you don't end up creating controversy out of nothing .

And many Nigerians were not supporting them because they're "our own but because they have been the better team ,even though not excellent before the final match of the competition. No team is excellent or perfect in football.

Before Saturday, the super falcons had scored 11 goals and conceded only once to South Africa through a spot kick. The same cannot be said of the Moroccans who had a leaky defence though out the group stage and the knock out series.

On Saturday, after we were two goals down,I had the believe our girls would turn it around from what I saw them playing. I was certain that if they managed to score the next goal in the match before 70 min they would equalize later and win . And that was what happened.

Stats from the match confirmed our girls were the superior team from the beginning to the end . We dominated possession , 59.61%- 41. 6%, . The falcons completed 166 passes, with 74.6%accuracy as against the Moroccans who completed 133 passes with 72.2 %. We also had the most corners .

So, what match did you watch to conclude the falcons didn't performed very well in the competition?
Your criticism is unjustified , not supported by facts. It's all emotions.
