The Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party’s Governors’ Forum, Ayodele Fayose, has called for the arrest and prosecution of those parading themselves as members of the Fresh PDP. He said those identifying with the new party ought to be jailed for disrupting the peace of the nation. Fayose was reacting to the development in Ado-Ekiti, when he hosted the newly elected national Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC. They are in the state for the local government election rally coming up in Ado Ekiti on Thursday. A press statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, said, “We are not distracted by elements of distractions, we are focused we know the enemies are at work, we know several things have been going on with some wanting to prevent our convention. “But since we have had a peaceful convention they are not happy. We know these people, even those from outside and we will name them when the time comes. “In a civilised society those parading themselves as fresh PDP should have been clamped into jail. They are simply charlatans. I won’t be surprised and we are doing investigations to know those who are behind them. “In a society like Nigeria, where we need a virile opposition, we need to continually put the government of the day on its toes for them to know that Nigeria is greater than all of us, some miscreants would just make press statement and say they are splinter group or whatever they call themselves. “In a proper democracy, they are supposed to have been arrested and detained for breaching the peace of the society as their action is unwarranted and uncalled for. “But we are not going to celebrate such by making an issue out of it. Nigeria needs peace at all times. “We are not going to go back to the days of Sherif and co, by giving attentions to those idiots making noise all over the place. This party will remain focused and move on. “I urge Nigerians to ignore them. When I saw them on the Internet, they were faceless people I cannot recognise so they remains a set of jobless and miscreants. “What is important about the convention is for the party to be transparent and we have done that. “And the moment the party has put in place the necessary level playing ground, everybody defeated at that election should be honourable enough to accept it. Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze has condemned the performance of Regga musician, Majek Fashek at Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Coza.
Freeze said it made no sense for a secular artist to perform in such gathering as Christian altars are supposed to be sacrosanct.
On his Instagram page he wrote “I am still searching for the sense in this. I am a huge Majek fan, but do I want to see him perform in a church?
“How did we get here?

King of afro-dancehall, Timaya, may become the first Nigerian-based act to win Grammy award, haven bagged a Grammy Nomination for featuring on Morgan Heritage’s album “Avrakedabra”.
The first Nigerian, though not based in Nigeria, who won an award at the Grammy was Cynthia Erivo, a singer and actress born in London to Nigerian immigrants.
Cynthia had won a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album for the cast recording of the musical The Color Purple in 2016.
However, Timayawho featured alongside Ghanaian Afro-pop singer, Stonebwoy, Chubb Rock, Stylo G, Bunji Garlin, Dre Zion & Jaheil on Morgan Heritage’s “Avrekedabra” may become the first Nigerian-based act to win the award if the album wins the category at the 60thGrammy Awards which will air live from the Madison Square Gardens on January 28, 2018.
Morgan Heritage is a reggae band formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artiste, Denroy Morgan. The band comprises Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.

Mr. Yakubu Galadima, the lawyer to the Ikoyi whistle-blower who assisted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to recover $43m, N23.2m and £27,800 (N13bn) from an apartment on April 12, 2017, has confirmed that his client has flown out of the country after collecting part of his N421 million commission from the Federal Government.
Galadima said the whistle-blower flew out of the country less than 24 hours after receiving part of the N421m reward, reports The Punch.
The lawyer thanked the government for fulfilling its part of the agreement after eight months.
Galadima also joked that his client did not run mad after receiving the money as predicted by some government officials.
He said his client had not been paid in full, adding that the Federal Government had promised to pay him the balance next year.
“My client confirmed to me that he had received a credit alert from the Federal Government. He travelled out of the country this morning (Wednesday morning).
“He has been paid the first instalment but there were many tax deductions. Yes, we are happy. I will give you more details later but I can confirm now that he has received some money.
“As you can see, my client did not run mad as predicted by Prof. Itse Sagay,” Galadima told The Punch
Galadima said the Federal Government’s decision to pay his client was an evidence that his client was the real whistle-blower out of the others that had been laying claim to the money.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has attacked the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo for making Lagos State the venue of Thursday’s crucial meeting to discuss restructuring of Nigeria.
The group also said majority of Igbo people were firmly behind the quest for restoration of Biafra independence and not restructuring.
The IPOB noted that neither the Afenifere nor the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, can hold any serious meeting in Igboland.
While describing the event as a desperate attempt by the President of Ohanaeze, Chief Nnia Nwodo, to “relaunch his tattered image as Igbo leader,” the pro-Biafra group wondered why such event should be held outside Igboland.
The IPOB statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, called on all Biafrans, especially those of Igbo extraction, to boycott the Lagos meeting, describing it as “Aso Rock sponsored gathering in Lagos.”
The statement added, “Arewa Consultative Forum consigns all their activities in Northern Nigeria, Afenifere always conduct their activities in Yorubaland, why must Ohanaeze Ndigbo move their activities outside Igboland to Lagos? It shows they are not proud of their land or people.
“The sole purpose of the gathering in Lagos is to create the impression that Nwodo is still in charge, despite the obvious death of the restructuring debate in the absence of the momentum provided by IPOB. Lagos is not and can never be the home of Igbo people, no matter how many millennia they may have lived there.
“Having lost credibility all over Igboland for his serial betrayal, Chief Nwodo has run to Lagos, the practice pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos, today, December 14, 2017, to relaunch his tattered image as Igbo leader. If he is, indeed, the leader of Igbo, what is he doing, convening a crucial meeting about Ndigbo in Lagos? Lagos is Yorubaland, not Igboland.
“Afenifere never organised any serious gathering outside Yorubaland, so why must Chief Nwodo run to Yoruba territory to conduct his restructuring debate. Is it because Igbo people are firmly behind IPOB quest for total Biafra independence not his restructuring agenda? Or is it because he knows nobody will attend his gathering of traitors anywhere on Igbo soil.
“We are urging all Biafrans, especially those of Igbo extraction, to boycott this sponsored gathering in Lagos.
“We are aware that a lot of money has been spent to mobilise dance troops from Anambra and Enugu States to charter buses with the promise of N350,000 pledge for any group that performs for Nwodo at Surulere today.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as the jewel and pride of not only the Party and Rivers State but also the nation at large.
The Party said this in a congratulatory message sent to the governor as he marked his 50th birthday anniversary today.
In a statement on Wednesday by Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, the Party hailed Governor Wike for his political sagacity which had propelled the party to greater heights.
Specifically, he said Governor Wike, who has earned the sobriquet of “Mr. Project” because of his outstanding performance in the development of Rivers State is a jewel and pride not only to the PDP and Rivers state but also to the nation at large.
“The PDP is very proud of Governor Wike for his exceptional leadership qualities and outstanding performance which have spanned over the years.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has insisted that he is not plotting to replace Yemi Osinbajo as vice-president.
Tinubu stated this in response to a report, that he may be picked as President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in 2019.
A statement on Wednesday signed by his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, read: “the people of the south-west have absolute confidence and are exceedingly proud of the excellent job Professor Osinbajo is doing as Vice President of Nigeria
“The attention of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Office has been drawn to the front page lead story of The SUN newspaper of yesterday, December 13, 2017, which sensationally and ridiculously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari may pick Asiwaju Tinubu as his running mate for the 2019 election. This is a classic case of utterly and irredeemably fake news.
“There is no empirical or logical basis for this mischievously speculative story. Is it even conceivable, as the story recklessly insinuates, that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be considering returning to full church work rather than run with his boss, President Buhari for a second term if the latter so decides without as much as discussing such a sensitive issue with his party and with Asiwaju Tinubu? In any case, is this story not entirely unwarranted and indefensible as the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket has an electoral mandate of four years out of which it has spent only over two years and a half years?”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a Dubai-bound Nigerian, Yasir Salihu Abdullahi who had in his bag, 849 Automated Teller Machine cards of various Nigerian banks.

The EFCC snoopers have begun interrogating the man to find out how he came about the cards and the reason he was taking them out of the country.

Abdullahi was arrested at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Friday August 3, as he prepared to board an Egypt Air flight heading for Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

He was intercepted after a scan of his luggage by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service revealed the suspicious items.



The officers then alerted the EFCC’s office in Kano. Operatives of the Commission discovered that the suspect had 490 Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards, 287 of Access Bank, 49 of Eco Bank, 10 of UBA, six of Stanbic IBTC Bank.

He also had on him 4 ATM cards of Zenith Bank, and one each of Sterling Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and First City Monument Bank.

The EFCC did not state whether all the cards were issued in the suspect’s name.

Another suspected fraudster, Ma Yongbin alias Suleiman Yunusa, a 46-year- old Chinese National was also arrested on August 3 by Aviation Security at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport as he tried to board Egypt Air to China.

He was arrested at the Baggage checking point where he was found to have in his possession the sum of N305, 000 (Three Hundred and Five Thousand Naira ) in N5 denomination.

He was eventually handed over to the commission for further investigation.

The two suspects have made useful statements. They have also been granted administrative bail while investigations continue.

A 38-year-old woman, Mrs Kehinde Alade, was on Monday charged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly headbutting her husband and engaging in a street fight.

Police Prosecutor, Johnson Okunade, told the court that the woman, after headbutting her husband, Mr Adebodun Alade, caused serious injury resulting in blood gushing out from his nose.

Mr Alade was later rushed to the hospital and the wife is facing a charge of assault.

Okunade said that the accused committed the offence at about 8.00 pm on October 19, at Onala Area A, off Afao Road, Ado-Ekiti under Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.



Apart from battering her husband’s nose, Mrs Alade is also facing trial for allegedly engaging her husband in a street fight.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 252 and punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

The prosecutor asked for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

Mrs Alade pleaded not guilty, and her lawyer, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant her bail, promising she will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye in his ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum ‎and adjourned the case till December 4 for further hearing.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commsion, EFCC, has sealed all the properties belonging to embattled ex-chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Maina, who has been accused of complicity in N2bn fraud, has reportedly gone into hiding.

The civil servant was declared wanted by the EFCC in November 2015 for alleged fraud.

However, Maina surprisingly resurfaced this month as an acting director in the Ministry of Interior, a development that triggered a nationwide uproar, forcing president Buhari to order for his immediate disengagement from service.

The EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, while speaking on the issue on Monday, said the commission was still on his trail.

He, however, stated that the commission had marked his houses in Abuja, including a house in Jabi said to be worth about $2m.

Uwujaren told Punch, “Yes, his properties were marked today. To the best of my knowledge, he has not yet been arrested.”

Another source within the anti-graft agency was quoted as saying that Maina was moving around town in a bulletproof Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle and other expensive vehicles.

The source said, “We have traced him to a hotel in Kaduna where he went to spend the weekend; we know that the DSS is protecting him and the DG DSS, deployed men to protect him. But make no mistake, we will arrest him, already we’ve frozen all his accounts.”
