easyflow: Thank you, please is penang relatively okay in terms of development and their attitude towards Africans.
Its okay but a bit far from KL, capital city.

easyflow: average accommodation and food. i just got an offer into usm.
Food is cheap, depending on what kind of food you prefer. Rent depends on area but averagely you should budget RM 1500

That is around 75k naira.

easyflow: Please can someone tell me the cost of living in penang?
It depends on so many factors e.g your choice of accommodation, food etc

matrixme: I've never addressed him directly, but Mr Seun, these are serious issues worth considering! I earlier complained about the shitty nature of front page topics lately. At least, yours is not the only user generated forum on the internet. Please get to know how Reddit functions and see what you could borrow (steal). The internet is a very competitive platform and I hate to see Nairaland go the dinosaur way, like Yahoo. Best wishes. (Who knows? I could have ideas for improvement myself)
Which Yahoo? The same Yahoo that generated $1.08 Billion Q2 and it $1 Billion investment in Alibaba is currently estimated to be $35 Billion, that's after selling $7.1 billion worth of Alibaba shares in 2012.

Even Facebook with all the Whatsapp acquisition and various spending generated $2.91B in revenue. So I don't see how Yahoo is going dinosaur way.

TravelRe: Ask Me Anything About Malaysia And I'll Give You A First Hand Information by Truth234(m):
onyiwest: I don't need to live in Malaysia before knowing what's happening there. I'm talking about thousands of Nigerians that are into illegal business and you're here talking about 20 to 50 people working legitimately. they are few, you don't need to argue if you don't have your fact.

if you're working in your school, you're probably working there as an agent, whereby they will pay you a token depending on how many students you're able to get for the school. this is just the reality of Nigerians working in college/university. i'm sorry i can't find any Nigerian working at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. you will hardly see a Nigerian lecturer in Malay universiti.

get the fact straight, there's no work in Malaysia. don't let anyone fool you. if you like apply from Nigeria it won't change the fact that there's no work there. the ones that finished from their univerisiti can't find a job not to talk of you applying from Nigeria.
Guy I swear I don't understand you, I gave your links, facts and you were saying something irrelevant, I work as administrative. Not as an agent or whatever you call it. There are Nigerians working here, just stop. Check the linkedin links I posted and confirm from them yourself. At first you said no Nigerian is working here and now you finally admitted some are working, guy you are inconsistent, have you thought of the possibility of you not actually knowing that reasonable number of Nigerians are working here legally, maybe you are yet to meet them due to circumstances? Can you try to be more open minded and stop confining yourself to your own understanding?

Lol..who is applying from Nigeria? what are you saying? I did my degree from a UK university and doing my MBA at London School Of Commerce (Empire Building). I am sure people like you are the ones that thinks Nigerians cant get visa from Malaysia to other countries. I met them at the Nigerian Embassy last year, God, they reason just like you. Most of the Nigerians you know here are illegals, they came here with 3 month social pass. They cant get job because they don't have papers, and therefore, engaged in all kinds of things.

All those English language, 6 months visas can not get you a job. You have to have a degree and be able to defend it.

Another thing is this, I find it hard to believe you got all these information in Nigeria. Based on details provided, you've been to Malaysia and you probably find yourself on the other side because that is what your experience is about. If your are not opening up then something is wrong. You open your moniker few days ago, only to comment on this thread, am sure you have old account because you navigate well.

Boss13: Now it seems Seun is serious. So Seun seriously you do not have people working for youhuhhuhhuh?? Damn this boy will ruin his fortune. Chief go and register you company with CAC first and then go talk to investors. You already have a business. I know some UNILAG students will work for you for free or N20,000 per month. Go and rent an office and stop doing this stuff from your house. WAKE UP SON. Yes before I forget, chase those bigots you call Moderators; they are responsible for the snail movement. Your moderator should be innovative and not banning people who don't share their opinion
Shut up there you, he has a working office at Sango Otta and few other programmers.
BusinessRe: Why Linda Ikeji Makes More Money Than Nairaland by Truth234(m):
Take it or leave it, NAIRALAND is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria entrepreneurs. This is the first time we will have a potential global business originating from a Nigerian, living in Nigeria.

I am not talking about LIB own by Blog.com. I am talking about business that has the potential to skyrocket.
BusinessRe: Why Linda Ikeji Makes More Money Than Nairaland by Truth234(m):
That guy does not know what he is saying, I can list worst sites that are generating good revenues. Traffic is the key, nairaland has better traffic and mind you all these people are using internet to access it. Isn't that enough to secure telecommunication ad? How many foreigners are on LIB everyday?

Tumblr.com was generating $13 million a year when Marisa Mayer, Yahoo Ceo, bought it $1.1 billion and when shareholders attacked her saying that was outrageous, she said she "bought a huge audience of young people with more than 100 million blogs and 50 billion posts but a under monetized business". Even Tumblr's CEO, David Karp, agreed.

With few input and restructuring, tumblr already generated $13 million for the first quarter, the same amount it was generating for a whole year and now they are on course for $100 million a year revenue. She is anticipating $200 million next year because by then they would have developed their own programs to enhance users experience.

The fact is Seun needs better marketing manager and creative individuals that share similar vision. Just like Steve Jobs!
TravelRe: Ask Me Anything About Malaysia And I'll Give You A First Hand Information by Truth234(m):
onyiwest: i don't know where you get your stats from. tell us which of Malaysian universities has a Nigerian professors/Lecturers, i haven't seen or heard of any. I'm talking about University not Pusat(college). Most African restaurants run by a Nigerian man is usually the destination for illegal business, that's why Malaysian police raid them constantly.

Do i hear you talk about Nigerians working at petronas ? this is not true, in fact they normally employ people from Nepal/Bangladesh etc. it's very rare to see a Nigerian pastor in Malaysia that has a work. most of them normally wait for the so called people that are into illegal businesses to pay tithe and offering, in fact they usually pray for them openly.

the ones with legal business are very few, and most of them are into spare parts. However the people into illegal business outnumbered the ones with legal business. 1 in 40. that's the fact!
I have come across a lot of your type, you've lived here in Malaysia but you did not associate with the right people. Therefore, all you know is the negative things you were exposed to. Below are linkedin profiles of some Nigerian senior lecturers here in Malaysia that I have personal relationship with. They are both lecturing at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=49413249&authType=name&authToken=pbSo&trk=prof-sb-browse_map-name

https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=224224888&authType=name&authToken=8r46&trk=prof-sb-browse_map-name

I know someone that is currently working at Petronas, Finance department and he has four other Nigerians working there. Nigerian working at Petronas https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=45104017

In fact what am I even saying self, there is a Nigerian doctor with an astonishing skills in treating cancer. He was interviewed on numerous occasions and now has his one cancer treatment center below is one of his interviews on youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=864SpfrHsKM

Guy there are questionable pastors has you've said but am sure you know Redeem Church won't condescend.

I have other people working in IT and so on. Even me I am working in my school and still doing my MBA. Basically its all about qualification!

Nepal/Bangladesh are mainly security men.
FamilyRe: Tenants And Their Reactions by Truth234(m):
aboyaji: i do understand what you said. And thanks a lot. But, i dont like disconnecting the other people's light because, it will make the wires look tarterred, also, since this group of people have been recruiting a team that doesnt want the success of the house, let him re-recruite them also to pay.
Sir, that is a tough one and I don't think that will get the whole situation anywhere. These particular tenants are refuting your action because they've paid. Remember the agreement they signed was about them been responsible for their own actions and not others. Therefore, this current action can create enmity and worsen the situation.
FamilyRe: Tenants And Their Reactions by Truth234(m):
aboyaji: This just happened few minutes ago.

I was just sitting in the parlour, browsing through Nairaland when my brother came in and told me some of the tenants were asking after me. I asked him to bring them in.

The next thing i heard was a noise from one of the tenants who was just standing instead of taking seat.
He was complaining why i decided not to reconnect the disconnected light in the house. That there has not been any power supply for the past 3 months and that he has paid his bill.
I quietly told him that other tenants refused to pay theirs and i have kept persuading them over the months to do the needful which they didnt oblige to. Hence, leaving the light the way it is - DISCONNECTED.

They kept yelling as they left(not in my presence though).
Some tenants can be so annoying and tend to make a quiet person talk till head blows off. This set of tenants that came were the bad eggs in the house who always conspire against the welfare of the house. And their team leader is a short dude. About 3 feet or so. Short niggas are always stubborn. They even decide when they want to pay and not to pay at all so that one wil see them as THE BIG GUYS.

I purposely decided to leave the power supply unrepaired till they know what to do.

If my action is wrong, do let me know pls.
Sir connect the light for them since these particular tenants have paid, 3 month is a long time to be without light. You can disconnect the other tenants light from the juncture box leading to their apartments but I don't think it is necessary if you are still expecting these same tenants to pay later on.
TravelRe: Ask Me Anything About Malaysia And I'll Give You A First Hand Information by Truth234(m):
onyiwest: Mr Allen, how do you survive with wife and one kid, if there's no work in Malaysia. Does that mean you're also into yahoo yahoo/illegal business?. because according to you, there's no work for Nigerians there. so how do you survive?. just asking!
NOTE; 90% of Nigerians living in Malaysia are into Illegal business. they can't survive without doing something Illegal to make money. even the Nigerian Embassy officials are corrupt people.
You are very wrong but I can't blame you because Mr Allen keep saying there is no job in Malaysia. What about Nigerian expatriates working here? What about all the professors, doctors etc? In as much as I agree that there are few numbers of unscrupulous Nigerians doing illegal business in Malaysia there are also thousands of Nigerians schooling (DP, Degree, Msc, PhD) and working here. They outnumber the yahoo yahoos but the yahoo yahoos are more popular because of their numerous atrocities.

There are lecturing, customer service, IT related etc jobs in Malaysia. If Nigerians are working at Petronas, like our NNPC, then what are we saying. There are elderly Nigerians here, our pastor, redeem pastor is a lecturer. I know other Nigerians working at Baker Huges, IBM, Dhl, SC etc.

Just like every other countries job is not readily available to foreigners but once you have good result and prove it during interview, Oga, you go get job. Even customer service job is readily available to Nigerians because of our English but even at that how many Nigerians here have Bsc (degree) because that is the basic requirement for customer service job.

Apart from that there are a lot of Nigerians here buying and sending goods home everyday. Go and see them at the airport and I have met a lot of them at Chinese embassy, they travel to China to buy all kinds of goods and sell. And who owns all the African restaurants and clubs is it not Nigerians? It is not easy but not impossible.

youngbilly1: lol you dont understand, i have a 3 month visa..i intend to stay a month. i have no interest in extending pass the 3 months visa lol that dangerous, i want to extend within the legal 3 months visa. i was told that if i want to be stamped in i will book 2 weeks on my flight and when i enter i can change flight date but within my visa period.
And in your mind you actually think I don't understand? Guy, listen and listen careful, you can never ever extend 2 weeks stamped on 3 months social visa.

The 2 weeks nullified the 3 months, please be careful because if that two weeks expire. You will be in serious trouble, don't listen to whoever is telling you what you stated above. You can always write Malaysia immigration or even their embassy where you got the visa.

EducationRe: Why You Must Finish With At Least A 2.1 by Truth234(m):
Kagawa: I BEG TO DIFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strategy and plan that aids in navigating to the top of class just to get 2'1 or 1 is not the same as THAT BY WHICH ONE CAN MAKE IT IN GLOBAL BUSINESS WORLD.

YOUR COMMENT IS NULL AND VOID, BUT I DO NOT BLAME YOU FOR YOU CAN ONLY SPEAK AS YOU UNDERSTAND AND CHATTER WHAT YOUR MIND CAN FATHOM.

GO TO ALABA, COMPUTER VILLAGE, TRADEFAIR, BALOGUN, THOSE MEN DO BUSINESS EVERY DAY WORTH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WITH CHINA, TAIPEI, HONG KONG, UNITED STATES, VIETNAM, JAPAN, GERMANY.... THE WORLD LEADING BUSINESS COUNTRIES. THEY DO NOT HAVE 2'1 OR 1, YOU ARE HERE TALKING ABOUT 2'1 AND STRATEGY AND GLOBAL BUSINESS... YOU DON'T KNOW JACK.
Coming from someone who doesn't know me wow!. A First class or 2:1 graduate won't approach this argument like you did, how many of those traders are top rated business men in a global context. I am not talking about people that have relegated themselves to just providing daily bread and meeting family responsibilities, I am talking about making a global contribution.

Now statistically, can you prove that these traders all together worth billions of dollar, stop misleading people and lets be objective. Jack Ma, Mark Zuckerbeg, Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Sergy, Larry Page etc, were able to conquer the world because they live in a different world from ours.

In our world, you can be comfortable without education and people will exaggerate it because of the level of poverty in the land but you cant be Dangote, Otedola, Mike Adenuga and Abdulsamad Rabiu without good education because that is how this society is structured. They won't give you your space unless you want to be a local champion.

For your information, those traders you mentioned collectively do not worth Billions of dollars. Please stop exaggerating, they are comfortable in our society but we need more than that to be reckoned with in business world, we need people like Chinedu Echeruo, that can make the world pay attention to us.

These traders are the reason our unemployment rate is increasing because they just don't have the initiative to build global brands that can employ more people. Am sure the biggest trader among them do not have more than 100 employees. So what are we saying?

klassic: After seeing Robert Kiyosaki's book" why A& B student work for C student who owns the company, I finally decided I dont need good result to make it in life . All I need is a good plan, strong will, courage , good praying habit , the right people who need the likes of me that can see from afar and make imagination possible and loads of patience. Then first class and 2.1 can apply to do the job for me while I end up paying them peanut for good use of their big brains. grin
If you have all you stated above, there is no way you wont graduate with a First Class. Successful minds are always successful no matter what you throw at them.

If you cant successfully navigate your way to First Class or 2:1 with a good plan and strategy, how can you compete in a global business world where everything is ever changing?

My question is this: what's the take on converting
social visit to student visa now?

There was a time they do it well; then it came to a time
it stopped and now, what's the current situation?
Currently it is not possible to convert social visa to student visa. All visa application has to go through EMGS for approval.

Am a. Younge business man who would like to come and understudy the malaysian palm sector for some months, kindly advice on what kind of visa to apply for. Secondly which state can I find the oil plam cluster and farmer.
You have to go through Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), they usually announce their seminars, key events (lectures, training etc) and Nigerians do come for exact the same thing but I think you have to contact them because all the Nigerians and other Africans have seen were officially invited.

Their programs and dates are announce on their website http://www.mpoc.org.my/

This is a welcome idea but the method of approach is disturbing, how do you allow any of these capitalist organizations access to government data of almost 200 million population. Mastercard is a profit organization, so are Unified Payment, Cryptovision, Trust Services and Access bank.

They all think of themselves and shareholders first, for them its not about the people but profitability and how to sustain it. Our government should start implementing project with long term strategies, what would happen if any of these organizations bankrupt in the future? It still beat me that our government can not put together independent IT security experts to handle this EID.

And now they are about to turn all our data to these greedy capitalist organizations. If you like put your money inside their card, na charges go bend you.
