Health / Breaking: Manchester United Star Marcus Rashford Involved In Car Accident by TruthHurts1(m): 12:25pm On Sep 24, 2023
Marcus Rashford was involved in a car carsh in the aftermath of Manchester United's 1-0 Premier League victory over Burnley.

The incident reportedly occurred after the player had left his club's Carrington base upon their return.

However, according to The Sun, after returning to Carrington, Rashford then got in his Rolls Royce to head home, but was involved in a collision.

His car, worth around £700,000, was left dented while images from the aftermath showed a damaged traffic island.

Police reported to the scene but no ambulance was called, and no arrests were made.

A source told The Sun that the England international was just shaken up by the incident and had not been hurt.

It's also reported that Manchester United teammate Fernandes stopped to assist Rashford.

The Red Devils' win over Burnley sees them break a three-game losing streak.

Pressure will remain on manager Erik ten Hag, though, with the result unconvincing against a tricky Clarets side who posed them plenty of questions.

Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles. After the Jews rejected Christ their Messiah, Scripture said that the rejected message of salvation would be accepted by the Gentiles in large numbers. As the Apostle to the Gentiles, Paul was responsible for the existence of many of the Churches established outside of the nation of Israel, particularly in Rome, Corinthians, Thessalonica etc. So it makes sense that Paul has a large influence on the Church because that is how God wanted it.

But you know Apostle Paul "cornered" the New Testament na. And most of today's Christianity is based on New Testament Apostle P's writings.

Politics / Tinubu’s Lawyer Tells US Court He Will Suffer If Chicago Records Are Released by TruthHurts1(m): 9:17pm On Sep 22, 2023
Severe, irreparable harm will be done to me if Chicago university releases my records, Tinubu begs U.S. senior judge

President Bola Tinubu has pleaded before a United States judge to save him from suffering severe and irreparable damage by placing an emergency hold on a recent order for his university records to be released.

Mr Tinubu said the damage he would suffer would be impossible to mitigate if the September 6 order directing the release of his academic records to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is not delayed for possible vacation.

“Severe and irreparable harm will be done to Bola Tinubu if the records are released,” Mr Tinubu’s lawyer argued at an emergency appeal before Judge Nancy Maldonado of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.

If the records are released, harm will be done and cannot be taken back to the bottle, Mr Tinubu’s lawyer added during the court hearing that began at 3:00 p.m. via telephone conference. Chicago State University was ordered to release the documents to Mr Abubakar today.

The ongoing hearing seeks to stay the order before it goes into effect in about an hour.

At issue has been the subpoena application filed by Mr Abubakar seeking to obtain records of Mr Tinubu at Chicago State University, following widespread inconsistencies with the Nigerian president’s academic records already in the public domain.

Mr Abubakar’s application was granted in a judgement issued on Tuesday by Mr Gilbert, who ordered the production of the documents as well as the deposition of the school’s administrators. Mr Abubakar plans to use the records to demonstrate Mr Tinubu’s ineligibility for president, relying on the constitutional section that disqualifies a candidate who submitted a forged certificate to the electoral office INEC.

CSU officials have insisted that Mr Tinubu attended the school, but they they have also said they couldn’t authenticate his certificate under oath because they couldn’t tell where he found it.

Mr Tinubu initially argued that the documents should not be released to Mr Abubakar because they would not be tenable before the Nigerian Supreme Court, where Abubakar now intends to file them as part of his appeal against a tribunal verdict that certified Mr Tinubu’s election on September 6.

Mr Abubakar submitted his appeal to the Supreme Court on September 19, the same day Judge Gilbert ordered CSU to release Mr Tinubu’s records within two days.

But as the 48-hour deadline loomed on Thursday afternoon, Mr Tinubu suddenly approached Ms Maldonado, seeking a delay, and suddenly elevating the desperate situation of the matter to include potential damage to Mr Tinubu’s life
.

Judge Maldonado subsequently granted the application to delay the release of the documents, ordering all parties to file their full briefs by September 25.

You didn't answer my question. Why does the koran in Surah 5:82 say that Christians are the closest to MOOslims while Jews hate MOOslims? Let me refresh your memory again:

Surah 5:82

You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.

Are you saying that Allah and MOOhaMAD are liars and the koran cannot be trusted?

Your lack of intelligence is disturbing, because even MOOhamad plagiarized from Paul and the Tafseer of the Mufasirun who interpret the koran refers to Paul as a messenger of Allah. Would you like me to educate you further?

[quote author=tollyboy5 post=125960099] grin
I keep saying that many people will just open the bible and read the opinions of Paul when he was writing letters to different churches and now want to enforce Paul letters as the standard of Christianity.
Paul was not even amongst those that were with Christ and understood all what Christ was about. People like peter, James etc. Paul was an apostle like Barnabas and need validation from the disciples of Christ.
Any time you want to see a pastor or anyone cap about the bible they will quickly open to one of the books written by Paul.

That's funny because moohamad the "prophet" of Islam actually said that the closest to MOOslims were actually Christians. Unfortunately for him however, Christians didn't have any time to waste on him and his "religion"

In Surah 5:82 of the Un-holy koran, moohamad told his followers that the closest to his beloved MOOslims are Christians. You can read it for yourself:

You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.

[quote]Many people don't know that the Hebrew or Jewish religious practice is nothing similar or close to Christianity, its even closer to Islam than christian.

You mean the Islam which calls Jews pigs and monkeys and tells mooslims that it is their duty to wage war on Jews? Like I said, your ignorance is overwhelming.

Without data I'm very sure an Israeli can easily switch to practice Islam compared to practicing Christianity.

Sports / Manchester United On Verge Of Signing 2 Midfielders by TruthHurts1(m): 8:16pm On Aug 20, 2023
Manchester United have reportedly made a move for Bayern Munich's Dutch Central Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch in their attempts to rejuvenate their midfield.

The Netherlands international is keen on leaving Thomas Tuchel’s side after failing to find his footing in Munich following his move from Ajax in the summer of 2022. The Bavarians have so far shown reluctance to let him go and even turned down an approach from AC Milan a few weeks ago.

However, the queue for Gravenberch’s services is getting bigger with every passing day, and United are the latest club to join the race.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla indicates in ‘the last few hours’ the Red Devils contacted Bayern and made an offer for Gravenberch.

The Dynamic midfielder, who’s on gross wages of around £200,000 a week before taxes in Munich, has also attracted an offer from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old would like to play under Erik ten Hag, the manager who got the best out of him at Ajax.

However, Pedulla suggests any move could depend on the future of Donny van de Beek or Scott McTominay, as United ideally want to sell at least one midfielder before moving in for a fresh face for their midfield.

This might also be the reason why the Red Devils are yet to submit a bid for Sofyan Amrabat despite being aware of Fiorentina’s valuation and finding a total agreement concerning the Moroccan’s salary.

It is understood Amrabat has patiently waited for United all summer, having said no to other approaches, but as we enter the dying embers of the summer transfer window, the Morocco international is hoping to wrap up his move swiftly, understandably.

The English outfit’s purported offer for Gravenberch might worry those who want Amrabat at Old Trafford. However, Pedulla adds that they could sign both Amrabat and Gravenbach depending on sales.

Sports / English FA Considering Women's Football Team Coach To Take Over Men's Team by TruthHurts1(m): 11:21pm On Aug 17, 2023
FA chief executive Mark Bullingham has suggested that Sarina Wiegman would be considered as a potential replacement for Gareth Southgate once he leaves his role at England.

The Lionesses boss is attracting deserved praise after guiding England to the Women's World Cup final where they'll take on Spain on Sunday.

Wiegman has already led the Lionesses to UEFA Women's Championship glory last year.

She previously guided the Netherlands to the same crown in 2017, as well as finishing as runners up at the 2019 World Cup.

As a result, victory for the Lionesses this weekend would see the 53-year-old complete the women's game, leading to speculation about what she'll do next.

While Bullingham is hopeful that Wiegman will remain in charge of the Lionesses, he hasn't ruled out the prospect of her taking a top job in the men's game.

He explained: "Sarina’s doing the Lionesses, she’s doing a brilliant job.

"I don’t like the language, should it be the best man for the job. I think it’s the best person for the job.

"Do I think football is behind other sports in terms of a lack of female coaches at the top level? I do.

"I think that has to change and the third part of it is do I think Sarina could do any job in football? Yes, I do.

I’m really happy with the job she’s doing and I hope she stays doing that for a long time.

"If at some point in the future she decides she wants to move into the men’s game, that would be a really interesting discussion, but that’s for her, right?"

He added: "It’s the best person for the job. If that person’s a woman, then why not? You analyse the pool for the job at that particular time.

“Do I think there’s a really strong diverse pool of both men and women for a big national job?

"No, I think the pool is small for both, actually. But I don’t like the mindset that it has to be a man.

“So, I’ll say it again. From our point of view, Sarina is doing a great job in what she’s doing and we want her to continue.

"If and when we get a vacancy in either of our senior men’s or women’s manager positions, we’d go for the best person for the job, which would be the best person capable of winning matches.”

Business / Irish People Rush ATMs After IT Glitch Allows Them To Withdraw Free Cash by TruthHurts1(m): 4:12am On Aug 17, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyaifyf-ABM

A glitch with Bank of Ireland's online app reportedly allowed customers with no money to transfer funds and withdraw it from an ATM.

The technical blunder meant people were able to put money into a Revolut digital account and then withdraw it from a cash point.

Some claimed that they were able to access as much as €1,000 (£859), but the bank insisted the daily withdrawal limit is €500 (£429), according to Independent.ie.

Various videos circulating on social media showed long queues at ATMs in various cities, as well as some police guarding pay points.

The bank confirmed it was working on a technical issue that was impacting multiple services, including the mobile app and online banking portal, 365Online, on Tuesday.

It warned customers that any money transferred or withdrawn over normal limits "will be debited from their account".

"We are conscious customers may not be able to check balances, but should not withdraw/transfer if they are likely to become overdrawn," it said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Apologising for the disruption, the bank said both the app and 365Online, were back working on Wednesday, and that overnight payments "may appear throughout the day".

"We are aware that the technical issue meant some customers were able to withdraw or transfer funds above their normal limits. These transfers and withdrawals will be applied to customers' accounts today," it said in a statement.

"We urge any customer who may find themselves in financial difficulty due to overdrawing on their account to contact us."

The issue comes after another IT outage at the bank in June, according to Independent.ie.

This did not result in people getting access to funds they did not have in their accounts.

Business / Naira Inches Towards 1000 Naira To A Dollar by TruthHurts1(m): 7:28am On Aug 10, 2023
The naira plunged to a record low of N925/$1 on the parallel market on Wednesday as demand for foreign currency outstripped supply.

This is the aftermath of liberalising the foreign exchange regime, which is a clear departure of what obtained during the President Muhammadu Buhari- led administration.

At a time during the last administration, the World Bank and other agencies, as well as experts in banking, finance and economy had at different times said having official and parallel value for the naira was hurting the economy and at the same time making a few privileged people pocketing billions of dollars without producing anything as they get the forex from the CBN at official rate and instantly sell same at the black market.

Recall that during his inauguration on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu had said, “Monetary policy needs a thorough house cleaning. The Central Bank must work towards a unified exchange rate. This will direct funds away from arbitrage into meaningful investment in the plant, equipment and jobs that power the real economy.”

On June 14, 2023, the CBN abolished the segmentation of the forex market into different windows and told Deposit Money Banks to freely float the naira against the dollar and other international currencies.

Buyers and sellers of foreign currency in the official FX market were then allowed to quote their preferred rates, as against previous practice where CBN dictated rates.

Wittingly or unwittingly, naira has since continued on a free fall at the parallel market despite the move.

When Daily Trust reached out to forex traders in Abuja yesterday, they quoted the exchange rate as high as N915/$1 for cash trades.
Similarly, the dollar exchanged for between N880 and N890 in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria.

Our reporter who monitored the situation at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja as well as Allen Junction, noticed that the greenback was bought for as high as N890 by Bureau De Change operators in the state. However, the operators sold it for between N900 and N905.

An operator at Allen Roundabout in Lagos, Ismail Muhammed said: “The dollar has not reached N900 in Lagos. We are buying for N890 at the moment”.

In Kano, Daily Trust gathered that while the parallel market closed on Tuesday with a dollar trading to a naira at N900, it opened at N919 to a dollar on Wednesday as against the N750.2/dollar at the I&E market, signifying a gap of about N169 between the parallel market and the I&E market.

However, Daily Trust gathered that around 1pm, the price further surged in Kano’s Wapa Forex Market to N925 to a dollar.

Meanwhile, in the official Investor and Exporter Window, the exchange rate closed at N757.81/$1 while the NAFEX rate was N776. The official market also faces supply constraints, with daily turnover averaging $80 million since July.

The peer-to-peer market, where cryptocurrency traders exchange forex, also saw the exchange rate soar above N900/$1.

The exchange rate between the naira and dollar has weakened by 19.8% since the reunification of the exchange rate windows. This compares to a depreciation of 2.5% between January 1 and June 14th (before the unification). The exchange rate weakened by 22.9% in the whole of 2022.

The disparity is now N153/$1, one of the widest since the unification of the naira on June 14th, 2023.

The naira has been under pressure in the parallel market for several weeks, as the supply of forex from official sources remains inadequate.

On July 1st, the beginning of the second half of the year, the exchange rate in the parallel market was around N772/$1.

However, a surge in demand from various segments of the economy, such as importers, foreign travellers and speculators, has triggered exchange rate volatility.

Daily Trust spoke to some forex traders who attributed the depreciation of the naira to a scarcity of supply.

They said that there were more buyers than sellers in the market and that the situation was unlikely to improve anytime soon.

A forex dealer, Nura Usman told Daily Trust that it was scarcity and lack of price control mechanism that was responsible for the astronomical rise in the exchange rate and the huge gap between the official and parallel markets.

“Even commercial banks do not have dollars, they come to us to look for it when their customers ask for it. So, this makes you wonder why CBN is not contributing its quota to the market. If the CBN releases dollars to the commercial banks at the I&E price, definitely the gap between the I&E market and our own (parallel) won’t be more than N10 and not the over N160 that we currently have,” he said.

Usman added that the chances are very high that a dollar will go above N1, 000 sooner than anticipated if nothing was done to quickly address the scarcity.

Also speaking, the Chairman of WAPA Forex Market, Sani Dada said the government is to be blamed for the scarcity and huge gap between the I&E market and the parallel market.

He said Nigeria is not productive enough to be getting the required forex the market needs and as such the floatation of price without commensurate supply of dollars to the market by the government was counter-productive.

“For us, our only source of dollars now is from travellers who will bring some hundreds of dollars to you. Even yesterday (Tuesday), I needed $1,000 and I couldn’t get it anywhere in the market. That is how bad things have gotten. So, the government needs to release some percentage of dollars to operators (BDC) as it was done in the past so that it can reach the people that truly need it,” he said.

Oyinlola Oluwafemi, a commercial bank customer said: “We really need to diversify our foreign exchange earnings from just oil so that we can have much more surplus supply of dollar, as for the demand for foreign exchange, it is not going to go away anytime soon so we have to deal with that.

“Another factor affecting the gap is the official bottlenecks that exist in our banking system. Imagine applying for PTA for 14 days prior to need, that is too long a time to wait.”

BDCs urge FG to ban Binance operations

However, the Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) has called on the federal government to ban the operations of Binance in the country.

Binance is a global online exchange where users can trade cryptocurrencies on a daily basis. It supports hundreds of the most commonly traded cryptocurrencies.

President of ABCON, Alhaji Aminu Gwadebe in a chat with Daily Trust, said Binance trading is becoming the anchorage of the Investor and Exporters window and the parallel market, noting that the exchange is the most liquid market with 1.2 million transactions per second.

He said: “So, we have to do something that can stop Binance. It’s a competition; we need to ban Binance and the only way to do so is if you have liquidity.

“So we are seeing a scenario where optimism is giving way to pessimism; investors are not coming, Nigerians don’t have confidence in the market and we have to look for external finances that are coming in as a quick fix.

“There is a lot of pressure on the naira, from foreign exchange hoarding by the banks and oil companies.”

CBN expects remittances from NNPC

Gwadabe expressed hope that with the petrol subsidy removal, the Central Bank of Nigeria would be able to see remittances from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) saying at the height of subsidy on oil, the remittance to CBN from NNPC was zero.

He said now that the situation has changed, this would also allow the apex bank to have liquidity and inflows that would come in for them to be able to defend the naira.

He said: “If we have a friendly, competitive and transparent system, more investors would want to come to the market.”

Official window no longer reflective of the market dynamics

Ayodele Akinwunmi of the Corporate Banking Department of First Securities Discount House Limited (FSDH), said: “The way things are today, we have to be careful with what we quote as the spread in the parallel market. The fact that the CBN says we can buy and sell at any rate does not give room for arbitrary price quotes.

“As much as I know, the CBN has been selling dollars to the Import and Export window consistently at N740/$1. The supply may not be enough considering the huge backlog; the reference rate is still the I&E window.

“It is a matter of demand and supply and with what the government is doing, the rates will decelerate in no distant time”.

However, the Managing Director of Cowry Asset Management, Dr Johnson Chukwu said the basic underlying factor in the continuous widening of the gap between the I&E window and the parallel market is undersupply.

Chukwu, while reacting to the stability in the I&E window amidst wide drift in the parallel market, said: ‘The official market is no longer reflective of the market dynamics.

“In effect, the I&E window is no longer indicative of demand and supply, the price is stable because the offer and bid price are determined by the CBN.”

Reacting to what the government can do to arrest the free fall, Chukwu said: “We are already in a bind, I don’t see the federal government accepting a short-term balance sheet support.

“We are heading towards a point where dollarisation will kick in. I don’t know where that point is right now but we are in a deep mess.”

The CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Dr Abdulmumin Isa, in his reaction, said: “While we will continue to intervene to bring the markets to the levels that we believe it should be, we need to work on the supply side of forex to the economy.

“As the Ag CBN governor, Folashodun Shonubi, said at the last MPC meeting, some of the volatility you’ve seen over the period has been driven by that same fact that the market needs to find its level and also the reality that there’s pent-up demand, which current supply may not be sufficient for and as we ease and satisfy the pent-up demand, we begin to see a more efficient market that runs.”

Actually, reintroduction of fuel subsidy is a simple matter of policy.

The subsidy was actually the price that Nigeria's political elite had to pay for bastardizing the downstream sector of Nigeria's petroleum sector.

The hypocritical Tinubu protested against removal of the subsidy when Jonathan did it at a time when the economy was still relatively strong enough to absorb the impact.

Now he stupidly thinks that the removal of subsidy can work after APC has spent the last 8 years destroying the economy, destroying the value of the naira and massively increasing Nigeria's foreign debt portfolio.

EscoBAT is learning that running a country is not the same as running a criminal enterprise.

Fugazy2023:
Fuel subsidy is gone and gone for good. Even if you remove Tinubu which is not possible, Atiku or Obi will still not bring it back and the prices would still be determined by market forces. Either ways, nothing changes regardless of who is in power with respect to Subsidy removal. Next
