Daboomb: If you are going for 'not-so-expensive' Tiles , dont use very shiny types for the living room. There traffic of feet will make it lose that shine so quickly it will be obvious you used a 'not-so-expensive' tile! Use those that are not shiny for your living room and use a bright color (preferably white with some light ash). Thanks bro, “Write2obi” where are you based on the east and your contact.
use mostly non-primary colours that are brighgt, they give an air of 'space' and cleanliness. Use large Tiles as much as possible (60x60), they are faster & cheaper to install and have fewer joint-lines, which makes them more appealing when installed
CDK Tiles is Nigerian made and not doing very bad. Sold in Lagos, dont know if they sell it in the East.
I am not a Tiler or a Contractor, l am just speaking from my own experiences, of my personal builds. |

Sanchez01: Mbappe ké? The dude is a walking Torres. All Monaco and Atletico players have one thing in common; they blossom in their clubs but die a natural death the moment they move out.
Unfortunately, Zidane's sentiment towards Benzema would cost us a whole lot in the new season. I would have loved that Morata remains but the dude is just bent on leaving because of the World Cup.
Morata would survive fine in the EPL, I have no doubt about that. Unfortunately, I might just have to hate him from hereon out. Bro, I understand how you feel but pls Don't hate him for joining Chelsea. I am a Chelsea fan (for life), love Peter Cech a lot and felt bad when he left for Arsenal. I will never ever hate him nor Arsenal. Of course I pray we win whenever we play Arsenal but don't wish him to get hurt; That's sportsmanship. Let's always remember that these people are professionals, they can switch clubs at any point in as much as it satisfies them and their families. I see Football as a way to entatain myself and feel happy. I am not a fanatic. Seasons come and go; let's derive the joy it brings and not allow any pain to linger. |

mufutau55: They usually leave a small opening entry into the roof somewhere, but it will look like regular POP too until pushed inside to open.
See the rectangular shape on the POP area below, look carefully.
Hajji M. Oh wow, Never knew this. I've learned. Thanks a lot. |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Truthinlife: 3:48am On Jul 10, 2017 |
mufutau55: 1. If the POP is not badly damaged yet, it can repaired by repainting the area... but if it has been damaged seriously.... then replacement of that part is the only solution. 2. Yes, they can go inside the roof (but carefully) to see the POP if this is at the wood carcass top level. But if it is under the decking slab... not possible o.
Hajji M. Ok cool. I was wondering Bc POP is generally sealed all through, unlike normal ceilings or gypsum ceiling where the carpenter will create entry ways to the roof. Does it mean they cut out an area of the POP or what. |

Hajji M. I am asking these questions for precautionary measures and to gain knowledge, 1.How do you repair POP when the roof leaks and give those dirty " Map of bugunda" all over it. 2. Is there a way of climbing inside POP to carry out any form of repairs. |

write2obi: I'm glad you are loving your tiles chief, we've come a long way in tiles production, gone are the day when local manufacturers are scared to put their logo and "made in Nigeria" at the rear and pack of their tiles. CDK Ceramics and West African Ceramics are really setting the pace and Time Ceramics and Goodwill Ceramics are not far behind.
A Nairalander was at my office last week looking for white porcelain Spanish or Italian tiles, i showed him our samples and their prices, he needed about 1800+sqms, so as expected the money involved was huge, he said he'll need to leave the tile purchase until his next visit to Nigeria due to the funds involved. Then i asked him a question ; why Spanish or Italian? Why not Nigerian? . He scoffed at my mention of Nigerian tiles. Then asked him if he'll like me to show him made in Nigeria white porcelain tiles, just to see not touch or buy . He said ok, then i showed him the samples and. He was so impressed and decided to go with Nigerian tiles and saving alot of money. Local manufacturers are uping their games and the competition is becoming more and more intense both price wise. Bro, Where are you based in the east ( Aba, Ph, Warri, Enugu)? I will like to have your contacts. |

Daboomb: Sir, l was able to dig-out this picture of something similar l did in the distant past.
I used Plumbing pipes (thick 2" original pipes) to collect the rain water and channelled it into ground drainage. All you need to do is to paint them the same color, as the roof and no one will even notice the difference.
This is just a very, very cheap 'alternative' compared to the usual stuff but you need a good plumber with eye for details and finishing, to do a good job of it. Good idea, I've seen couple houses with it. However, I am trying to know if we can get the same type and square shaped water collector ( like those foreign ones on the Picts) locally made and serve same purpose but inexpensive. |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Truthinlife: 10:44pm On Jul 05, 2017 |
Oga Hajj and all our good people in this forum. Attached are pictures of the most common beautiful foreign made water collectors I've seen used in most homes. My question is, Do we have locally manufactured ones that has good quality, durable, less expensive and serve same purposes. Remember I didn't say "fake". locally made here in Nija that can be used in attached bungalow with dark roof. I am seriously in need of contacts in the east (owerri,Aba,Port Harcourt)etc. Thanks everyone for your anticipated contribution.

mufutau55: Thank you Sir. How many in a bundle and what size is the PVC? They usually come narrow or wide in size of each piece.
Hajji M. 8 long narrow size pieces in one bundle.(Attached photos can clarify it more). According to the carpenter, each of them is about 14 length; meaning that it fits a standard room. Bro, i don't know much about calculation, hence I run when maths go past LCM or HCF come dey enter " raise to power 4 or 5" lol.

adanny01: Whenever you want to negotiate a construction job using skilled and unskilled labour use the standard daily pay for skilled and un skilled labour times the estimated number of days it will take them to finish.
2 lazy carpenters must finish a room in a day. Fast and experienced ones will do 1 room each with an unskilled labour. Range of pay for a skilled labour is 2.5-4k. I estimate 8 days max. 2.5k for 2 carpenters is 5k times 8days 40k or 4k for 2 carpenterd is 8k times 8days is 64k.
Your range is 40-64k. Can be even less pairing skilled and unskilled. Wow, I appreciate your analysis and will save it. |

johnson232: Try to get another installer, so u can compare. 150k seem's on the high side to me. It shouldn't exceed 100k. are u using pvc for the whole house? How many bundles did u buy? They bought 20 bundles. It's 3 standard rooms ensuite plus an ante room ( so I call it 4 rooms "approximate". The staircase area and a walkway. After much begging he has pinned it at 80k. But I will be an ingrate if I don't appreciate the quality work he has done for me recently. |

mufutau55: I won't pay more than 50k for that job o.
Hajji M. After so much negotiation and beggingoooo he has pinned it at 80k. I have told him not to be angry if someone else take the job at 50 or the most 60k. Although he has done pretty good job for us in the past. The leaving room (parlour) is excluded as we want to do POP on it. It's 3 standard room ensuite, one ante room, the staircase and walkway. So I can call it "4" bedroom. |

Hello Hajj and everyone, We just bought the PVC for ceiling but the carpenter is giving a price I believe is out of reach for 4 bedroom ensuite and little walk way. Is 150,000 not too much to install the PVC?. What should be a reasonable amount to pay.

I want to know how much they are selling PVC ceiling material per square meter and how to differentiate from imitation. I am considering using it on some areas in our project. |
