Truthinlife: Hello Hajj and everyone, Attached is a photo of what a friend called "Asbestos POP ceiling". I got attracted by the beauty of how it was carefully and beautifully done without any visible trace of "batton" running all over it in square forms. ( As we see in regular asbestos ceilings). How can one achieve this 2 different styles as shown on the photos. is there any carpenter willing to work in the east for this sole purpose.
I will greatly appreciate your responses please. Hello Everyone, I will still appreciate any leads on how to go about getting someone who can replicate this ceiling style. Thank you. |

mufutau55: "I have always.... with wrought iron" means in my other buildings, I have always use wrought iron (regular thick iron).
I love the Stainless rails because they are fancy... but I have seen some of the so-called stainless that rusts... you will hate it. With our Naija market, how do you know you are getting the real 100% stainless steel? The stainless products also get levels... using wrought iron, at least I can repaint it as often as I want. May be I am not a classy man but I have always weigh security options in any products I use. And wrought iron will always be cheaper in cost than the stainless steel.
Hajji M. Wow, very very insightful. Look at this sample a welder sent me. What do you think.

mufutau55: The first option with glass looked very attractive. But I have always be scared of anything "glass". I don't want anyone leaning on it or children playing there and it gives way... I will rely more on the power of steel than that of glass. May be I am just a careful man. Even being a kobo-kobo man, I have always went with wrought iron. This is just my little opinion.
Hajji M. Thanks a lot Hajj, Could you please describe more what you mean by "I have always.... with wrought iron" Pls give me reasons Bc I am attaining same fear as you. The honest truth is, I so much love how attractive the glass type is; but fear of the risk as you pointed has been a huge concern hence I am seeking people's honest opinion. What is the difference with the stainless and wrought iron; will it have a "classy" look when installed, what about cost etc Pls talk to us. |

Hello Hajj, Spyder and all good nairalanders, We are now at the stage of installing stainless aluminum hand rails. We want to start from the patios (Seat outs). We have been presented with two types to choose from for the seat outs. (Attached are sample pictures of what I mean). Permission to use these photos please. 1. Stainless and glass 2. Only stainless. I understand everyone's "taste" differs but I need constructive ideas/criticisms or reasons to choose any of the two.

spyder880: I think the most likely place you can find this is in the Mile 3 building materials market, (along Ikwerre road). I have seen some ceiling boards being sold in some of the inner shops. I usually frequent this market to pick tiles, POP materials and doors.
Find anyone who sells ceiling boards or POP materials and show him this picture on your phone, they can give you exact directions on the shop to look in. Oga Spyder Nagwode, thanks a lot. Will go searching for it. |

temi4fash: Good afternoon bosses,
Thanks for your input as regards the asbestos and pvc ceiling that I came for the other time.
You are really appreciated.
Me and my carpenter was at anifowoshe at ikehpja today to price the ceiling sheet and we got the 2 by 2 a back of 10 for 1700 per one. He said we going to using 40 pkts that 400 pcs.
Now to my question, The carpenter said there is way we can combine it wih POP that he will not use tie rod he will just nail them to the ceiling logging and the pop guys would come and fill the space and do scride it and do collins around the enclosed space.
I have been trying to check for pictures but am not seeing any.
Can anyone who has experience in these help me out.
Thanks again Bro, I have been searching for this asbestos (pvc ceiling slates). A friend used it throughout his house and it's beautiful. Can you give me the sellers contact number. My projects are in the East Aba/PH. Wish I can find where to. They have searched around Aba but not able to locate a seller. |

Nightshift: Nwanne, o ga adi nma! I equally grew up in Aba when the city was better organized. I had the best of my teenage life experience in Enyimba city. Throughout the 80s, Aba was fun. From our football games at CKC, Okigwe Rd. Primary School, to the taste of delicious meal served with stockfish and rich ice creams! Enyimba city will bounce back with a big bang! Amen. Nightshift: If the former governors had continued where Mbakwe stopped, the situation in Enyimba city would not have deteriorated to its present condition. Thank God the new Governor is trying to clean up the once vibrant and proud city. Enyimba n' Aba!! I don't know what to say to you; I don't know who touched your heart to say this. All I can say is God bless you for mentioning something this sensitive. I have wept so many times when I recall how MCC was constructing roads from Aba to Owerri during Sam Onunaka Mbakwe's regime. I was born and raised at Omuma road Aba; I weep each time I remember the legacy Mbakwe left, and how people after him derailed. I don't even know what else to say; May God empower this present govt or any govt at all He ordains for his people, so the glory of Aba and other cities will be restored. Once again, thanks for this comment. |

ceaser: Arrgh! We think alike too much. Which one na? ?
Okay. Here is what I already have DIYed in addition to those solar fans I earlier talked about.
Got those mini solar home systems that has 4 or 6 three watt LED bulbs. I jettisoned the bulbs rhat cane with the units as they are so tightly integrated for me to mod. Instead, I modded the usual POP flat panel SMD 2835 LED lights being sold by nna bros from 3 watts to 0.9 watts. That means I get twelve 0.9 watts bulbs from factory four 3 watts. This gives me the same lumen output but with better flexibility in terms of better battery back up and power management.
This way all rooms in the building run independently their own lighting (about 4 or 5 flat panel LED lights/spotlights per room depending on the room size)
Now for the bathrooms, I need to discourage wastage in the form of leaving the lights on after people are done with their business there. I achieved that by hooking PIR sensors to the bathroom bulbs and have the delay set at 2 minutes (of course it still stays on even if you are in there for 5 hours but soon as you exit the place, it switches off after 2 minutes of inactivity).
Now for the security lights, I had a daytime off - nighttime on type of LDR hooked to the light source to the security lights. They automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn.
Haven't noticed any bugs so far. Cesar, Reading this write up blew my mind; you nailed it to the T. Everything you said here is what I have desired. Bro what's the best number to call and chat with you. I have lots of questions and need insight. |

mufutau55: You need something better so when you decide to put some load on it, the load will not put too much pressure on the generator. I have the one below and it was purchased for N140k before the rise in prices due to forex started. I use it in my BQ, but my friend who had the same uses his own in a 5 Bedrooms Duplex with lights loaded and two AC of 1HP going does nothing to the performance of it. The fuel consumption is very good and lasted more than 14hrs none-stop on a full tank and very, very silent. My said friend love it so much and even bought the 10kva of the same. Very quiet with infrared remote control going thru the wall and distance. Although I intend to buy a standalone 20KVa, this little gem will still be my good backup when that happens. But for now this is a good unit. I have recommended same to some Nairalanders here and they also love it; may be they will see this and testify to it. I think it's around N160k now, but not sure. If you are interested, I can find the dealer info and post it here later.
Hajji M. Oga Hajj, Our country don spoil finish. I contacted chudy (the authorized dealer) and he said, that generator now goes for 250k. Count yourself lucky bro for buying it at that amount. |

EgunMogaji: Monoslope = https://www.nairaland.com/2362679/diy-construction-4-units-2-bedrooms
I did same on my two buildings so far but the main house will have cross hip roofing.
Regarding storing water on top of the house, I generally frown upon this as it can severely cause damage if a leak is left unchecked. I have a deck on top of my safe room that I can use to carry a water tank but I am still leery of this. Oga Egumogaji,Hajj,Twinskenny, etc. What can this 5Kva Diesel Engine generator comfortably power in a duplex. (Appliances etc)

But I will also add Asabari security.
Hajji M. Oga Hajj, It's so sad to hear the extent we have to go to protect ourselves in our own country. My question remain, How did we get to this disheartening level, what can be done to bring us to a level where we can relax without fear. Does this mean there is no hope again?, Lord have Mercy. |
