Iran announced that it has launched "extensive retaliatory drone strikes" against Israel, while Middle Eastern countries including Iraq and Jordan closed their aerospace and suspended air aviation.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Saturday that it launched drones against Tel Aviv in response to the Israeli attack against the Iranian diplomatic mission in Syria’s Damascus on April 1.

You know I didn’t know Obaseki was fighting the Oba of Benin until I met a man from Edo about a week ago.

The man is from Edo North, I think Etsako, but he told me the Oba will not support whoever Obaseki presents because of the squabble between them; to the extent some Benin sons used to come from abroad to attend the court sitting of the case Obaseki has with the Oba in court.

Now, it seems the Oba has tacitly chosen Akpata as his own candidate. And should the Benin people of Edo South give him bloc vote, Akpata would have one leg in the government house.

I wonder why Obaseki would fight the Oba. And this man from Edo told me that Obaseki’s ancestor was behind the banishment of the Oba of Benin during the Colonial era I guess. He said the current Oba was against Obaseki’s candidacy when Oshiomole presented him to the Oba but Oshiomole assured the Oba that Obaseki would not be like his fathers but it seems Oshiomole was wrong.

Even if things come down to rigging, the only place APC has even the closest capacity of rigging is in Edo North. But even in that Edo North, it would be restricted to just Etsako axis because PDP is strong in Owan and now in Akoko Edo with the Deputy Governor now from there. How can you rig in the Deputy Governor’s LGA with all the men he would be controlling now?

Now, even in the Etsako axis, remember APC is going up against a PDP with structure backed by a sitting governor. You really think you can rig against that structure?

If there’s anyone that would rig Edo election, it would be Obaseki. Remember the FG was backing the SDP candidate in the last Kogi election but couldn’t deliver him. APC would be living in fool’s paradise to think they’d outrig Obaseki, an incumbent governor.

funnily enough, the deputy governor is a 38 years old young man. Much youths will be fully involved in Akoko-Edo LG in September governorship Election.

time senator representing Edo South Matthew Uroghide and other defectors have formally switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He formally defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at an event in Benin City on Saturday.

His return to the APC is coming after what he described as a 13-year-three-month sojourn in the PDP.

Senator Uroghide who described himself as a foundation member of the APC said he is glad to return to the fold of mature politicians, a party, in whose leaders he trusts and has confidence.

The former lawmaker assured the party that he has returned to help build the party and enthrone its candidates in the 2024 Edo governorship election.

Top APC leaders including Senator Adams Oshiomhole and the state executive were on the ground to receive the entrants into the party.

During the event, Oshiomhole who apologised to Senator Uroghide for the error in judgment years ago which led to him choosing another aspirant over Uroghide, welcomed him back to the fold.

He described Senator Uroghide among others as a robust resourceful, dogged, politician whose wealth of experience will have a great impact on the party’s chances of success.

Oshiomhole thereafter nominated Uroghide as the party’s director general for the upcoming Edo State governorship election campaign team, a position the former lawmaker accepted.
