Hmm 🤔 bad governance in Adeleke’s government again |
The Osun Civil Societies Coalition (OCSC) has chided the Osun State Government over failure of Governor Ademola Adeleke administration to provide responsive governance in the face of the economic quagmire which has subjected residents of the state, like other people in Nigeria to untold hardship. OCSC, in a release signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Waheed Lawal and Emmanuel Olowu, respectively, accused Adeleke administration of being directionless and unorganised in addressing issues that are of importance to the welfare of the people. The coalition specifically bemoaned the state government for not having separate palliative programmes like other states to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in spite of the money accrued to the state for such purpose. According to the group, the state government has not shown empathy and responsive governance for the residents of the state, especially the civil servants who deserved a structure palliative measure. The statement reads in part: “While other states are showing empathy to their people and coming up with initiatives that shows the leadership thinks and plans for them, Osun state has gone into a deep sleep by having no serious plan for the people at a critical time like this in the history of the Nation. “While state like Kano cuts down the school fees of state owned institutions by 50% and other states are either providing buses or cutting down the days of work in their states, Osun is doing nothing other than depending on what is to come from the federal government. “This is grossly a sign of lack of plan or the state leadership under Governor Adeleke does not care about the people by failing to make provision from the purse of the state for her people. “While we don’t want to join issues with government on what was received or was not received from the federal government, a peep into the schedule of distribution of palliative received from the federal government calls for a lot of questioning. “First, we demand that the state government make public the names of members of the distribution committee and not just the organisations they represent. We also demand to know what structure the distribution will take at the local government level since the state has decided to channel distribution through the local governments. We are afraid the palliatives will end in the coffers of politicians, thereby denying those that actually deserves it. “Of the distribution plan is the mention of identified 12 groups. We demand to know the names of these 12 groups and how they were arrived at as channels for distribution of the palliative. “On our part, we make bold to say that the civil societies coalition is in no way involved in the distribution plan and no member of ours is in any committee, except the government chose to drop names representing the coalition and such being unknown to us. “We charge and demand from the government, a robust distribution of tangible things from the government of the state and not just the rice made available by the federal government. “Osun state government should take a cue from other states and stop insulting our people by the back and forth on the issue of the palliative. https://www.osundefender.com/osun-civil-societies-coalition-chides-adeleke-over-absence-of-responsive-governance/

There’s 100% facts that APC will take over power from Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke in 2026 with the bad arrangement of Pdp and its poor rewarding culture in Osun State. With nepotism and its display in Ademola Adeleke government, there’s huge tendencies that APC will take over power and defeat Adeleke in 2026 governorship Election. Hmm 🤔 |

Diasporans for PDP Condemns Yahaya Bello’s Authoritarian Ban on Campaign Advertising Houston, Texas, USA August 28, 2023 Diasporans for PDP, the US-based registered non-governmental organization made up of Nigerians living abroad, has issued a solemn condemnation of Governor Yahaya Bello’s attempt to rig the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election through manipulation of the process, silencing of opposition voices, and ban of campaign advertising in Kogi State. The organization describes the ban as an illegal, illegitimate and desperate attempt to win an election through silencing opposition voices by an incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) government that has no success stories and no tangible achievements to show to the electorate. “What we are witnessing in Kogi State is an act of desperation. A desperate APC government wants to win an election at all cost. They are ready to engage in irresponsible and unacceptable public exhibition of autocracy in order to remain in power. As Nigerians in diaspora and lovers of democracy, we call on fellow country men and women to reject this undemocratic attempt to rig the election even before the first votes are cast,” said the Founder and National Chair of Diasporans for PDP Honourable Mrs. Victoria Pamugo. Ahead of the November 11 governorship election, the APC-controlled Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA) banned all opposition candidates’ campaign posters in Lokoja metropolis, Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba West, Ankpa, Idah, Ayingba, Adavi, Okene and Okehi towns. The autocratic APC guidelines announced by Governor Yahaya Bello desperately demands the following of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition candidates: *₦50,000,000 fee payable to the Agency for the deployment of materials before, during and after the election. *₦5,000,000 fee payable to the Agency by political parties wishing to deploy campaign materials within the state. *₦2,000,000 for every billboard erected by parties, candidates or supporters. *₦1,000,000 fee payable to the Agency for every banner displayed in public places. Reacting to this draconian political machination designed to usurp the powers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the campaign team of Senator Dino Melaye, the PDP governorship candidate in Kogi State, writes that: “The campaign decrees recently issued under the guise of guidelines for the use of campaign materials by the administration of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi State is a vexatious, undemocratic and unrealistic attempt to evade contest, constrain the democratic field and stir-fry other political parties out of visibility before the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election in Kogi State.” The press statement further states that “Under the inoperable, illegal guidelines, the PDP, which has deployed over 50 banners in each of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State, will be expected to pay ₦1,050,000,000 (one billion and fifty million naira) as signage fees alone. It is laughable that this figure already exceeds the entire expenditure threshold of ₦1b (one billion naira) prescribed for gubernatorial election under Section 88 (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022.” “Governor Yahaya Bello and APC are suffocating democracy in that state. On the other hand, it is a pity that INEC, who has a responsibility for a free, fair and credible election in the country, is completely silent in the face of this day-light rubbery being committed against the Nigerian voters who, if this illegal decree is allowed to stand, will not have access to adequate information or voter education about the candidates wishing to become their leaders,” says Hon. Pamugo. “What is Governor Yahaya Bello afraid of? What is APC afraid of? If they are so proud of the job they have done in Kogi State over the past number of years, why are they afraid of people getting to know the candidates wishing to become future governors of the state?” Hon. Pamugo questioned. “The governor and his corrupt APC friends are collecting huge amounts of money from the federal treasury and tax payers every year, including security votes. Yet, they have nothing to show for their time in office. Nigerians in Kogi State are suffering. No food. No jobs. No good roads. No good schools. No constant electricity supply. No portable water supply. No security. No health care system. Yet, APC wants to remain in power through this apparent autocratic decree and illegal campaign guidelines. What new ideas do the governor and APC have to offer the people of Kogi State?” she asked. “The international community is watching and Diasporans for PDP joins millions of Kogi residents in condemning this childish and autocratic attempt to change the outcome of the election in favour of APC. We reject it completely!” Hon. Pamugo said. Diasporans for PDP is a United States-based and registered non-governmental organization with membership including but not limited to Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States of America. Press Statement August 28, 2023 PDP Rejects Yahaya Bello’s Obnoxious Ban On Campaign, Signages …Says It Will Never Subject To Rules Contrary To laws of Nigeria The campaign decrees recently issued under the guise of guidelines for the use of campaign materials by the administration of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi State is a vexatious, undemocratic and unrealistic attempt to evade contest, constrain the democratic field and stir-fry other political parties out of visibility before the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election in Kogi State. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) summarily rejects the repugnant, pugnacious, and unlawful guidelines of Bello and urges other parties as well as democratic lovers and institutions to reject these wicked rules. The illegal, unacceptable and impractical exclusion of certain Local Government Areas and towns, known to be the strongholds of the PDP, including, Ijumu and Ankpa Local Government Areas where the PDP candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, and his running mate, Hon Habibat Mohammed Deen, hail from respectively further exposes Yahaya Bello’s desperation in the face of soaring popularity of our candidates. Such feeble and childish attempt by Yahaya Bello to close the campaign field against the PDP in the State further reveals that the APC has reached its wits end, having become deflated by the crushing rejection of the people ahead of the election. Moreover, the PDP rejects the obnoxious and draconian imposition of a general payment of N5,000,000 (five million naira) for outdoor campaign materials, N2,000,000 (two million naira) for every billboard, N1,000,000 (one million naira) for every banner deployed and another N50,000,000 (fifty million naira) to be deposited as caution security. Our party insists that such devìse is a calculated attempt by the weakened APC administration in Kogi State to defraud the opposition in the State. Under the inoperable, illegal guidelines, the PDP, which has deployed over 50 banners in each of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State, will be expected to pay N1,050,000,000 (one billion and fifty million naira) as signage fees alone. It is laughable that this figure already exceeds the entire expenditure threshold of N1b (one billion naira) prescribed for Gubernatorial election under Section 88 (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the good people of Nigeria are invited to note that the campaign decrees of APC and Governor Yahaya Bello are being rolled out two months after INEC had announced the lifting of the ban on political campaigns. It is also instructive to note that our party has since deployed our regenerative campaign materials, making the purported guidelines retroactive, inapplicable, and inappropriate. The terms of the guidelines by the Bello administration are, to say the least, restrictive, unimaginative, and clandestine. Contrary to the provisions of Section 95 (2) of the Electoral Act, 2022 that no state apparatus, including the media, should be used to the advantage or disadvantage of any political party or candidate at any election, Governor Yahaya Bello has employed the KOSSA to prescribe ridiculous, untenable, and unreasonable fees for campaign materials, including an obnoxious caution deposit. What Bello seeks to achieve is to acquire an illegal authority to vandalise campaign materials, having realized that his Party and his handpicked candidate have neither the record nor a demonstrable performance to display or any electoral value to be canvassed on billboards and banners. The laws of Nigeria allow candidates of all parties to campaign freely without any hindrance. In view of its illegality, incompetence as well as the conflict with the provisions of the electoral Act 2022 and its retroactive emergence, the guidelines for campaign materials issued by the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency is recommended for thrashing in the garbage bin where it belongs. The guidelines were conceived in bad faith and out of tune with contemporary democratic ethos. It is another anti-people design by the failed administration of Yahaya Bello. The PDP, as a lawful Party, will not subject itself to any rule that is contrary to the laws of the Federation. Signed: Sen. Dino Melaye Media Team https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2023/08/29/pdp-rejects-yahaya-bellos-ban-on-campaign-signages

Last Week, Osun LG Caretaker Chairmen Selection: Aggrieved PDP Members Protest Imposition Some members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the alleged imposition of Local Government caretaker Chairmen by Governor Ademola Adeleke. The aggrieved members of PDP took to the streets of Osogbo, the state capital, immediately after the news of the caretaker chairmen filtered the air on Wednesday morning. Apart from Osogbo, it was gathered that the protest extended to Ede, the country home and the hometown of the governor. Recall that Governor Ademola Adeleke had submitted the names of Local Government caretaker chairmen to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation. While the inauguration of the caretaker chairmen was ongoing, the aggrieved members of the party were seen staging a peaceful protest over the alleged imposition of chairmen against their wishes. In Osogbo West Local Government, supporters of a Chairmanship aspirant, Segun Akeju, stormed the streets of Osogbo, to protest the alleged removal of their candidate in the list of the appointed caretaker chairmen. The protesters who gathered at the popular Ola-Iya Underbridge carried placards with different inscriptions such as; “No Akeju no chairman”, “Akeju is our choice for Honorable chairman Osogbo West Local govt”, “Kabieyesi did not vote for us” among others, alleged that a traditional ruler was behind the removal of Akeju on the ground that he’s not from Osogbo. According to the protesters Osogbo West Local Government is predominantly occupied by nonindigenes, who were born and raised up in Osogbo, adding that Akeju was among those who contributed immensely to the success of the party and the governor’s victory during the last gubernatorial election. Speaking to our correspondent, one of the protesters, Yusuf Ajisafe said the three towns that made up Osogbo West namely; Oke-Baale, Oja Oba, and Awosuru, are dominated by non-indigenes who were born in Osogbo and have contributed to the development of the State. Ajisafe said it was uncalled for to impose a chairman on the people of the council, saying Constitution does not bar any Nigerian from occupying a position regardless of the town he or she hails from. Ajisafe further explained that Akeju’s investment and contribution in the last governorship election is enough to consider him as chairman. “We are protesting against the removal of our candidate as the chairman of Osogbo west local. We reject in totality the imposition of another candidate as our chairman. “We are fighting for the young man whose name was removed yesterday around 3 pm on the ground that he’s not from Osogbo. https://newtelegraphng.com/osun-lg-caretaker-chairmen-selection-aggrieved-pdp-members-protest-imposition/

Bayelsa November 11 Poll: Survey gives Diri overwhelming victory in 8 LGAs A survey report conducted on the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Bayelsa State indicates that the incumbent Governor, Senator Douye Diri, will win the election in the eight Local Government Areas of the State. The Opinion Poll initiated by the Bayelsa Government New Media Team was conducted by a team of six researchers and 50 Research Assistants for 2 months covering the period of June and July, 2023. The survey conducted across 211 communities randomly selected from the 24 State Constituencies administered questionnaire to 2,400 respondents who confirmed to have their Permanent Voter Cards and intend to cast their votes in the November 11 election. 100 persons were selected in each of the constituency for the survey of samples drawn from men, women and youths while 24 opinion leaders were also interviewed across the constituencies. The poll was narrowed to the three supposedly major contenders in the election being the incumbent, Governor Douye Diri of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the former Governor and immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Engr. Udengs Eradiri of Labour Party. The survey was based on antecedents of each candidate, the zoning arrangement, impact on people over time particularly in the rural communities, the popularity among the people, performance of political parties in the last general election and Bayelsa’s key stakeholders/leaders backing each of the candidate. Results derived from experts' analysis of the field report indicates that Diri is expected to return the highest votes from his home Local Government Area, Kolokuma/Opokuma. 88 per cent of the respondents said they will vote for the incumbent, only 5 per cent of respondents said they will vote for Sylva of the APC, and 4 per cent of respondents to vote Eradiri while 3 per cent are undecided. The next appreciable result is from Sagbama Local Government Area, home LGA of the immediate past Governor and incumbent Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, where 77 per cent of the respondents said they will vote for Diri as against 10 per cent which indicated willingness to vote for Sylva of APC. In Ekeremor Local Government Area, 72 per cent respondents said they will vote for Diri of PDP while 11 per cent will vote for Sylva. The respondents said they will through the ballot return the kind gesture of the governor to him for the completion of the Sagbama-Ekeremor road where several communities can now be accessed by road instead of travelling by water. The survey report indicated that Diri is expected to win massively even in LGAs believed to have opposed him in the 2019 guber election. The survey clearly puts the incumbent Governor Diri ahead in Nembe LGA with 70 per cent, Brass (62 per cent), Ogbia (66 per cent), Southern Ijaw (63 per cent) and the State capital, Yenagoa Local Government Area (70 per cent). Interestingly, 36 per cent of APC members who responded to the questionnaire said they will vote for Douye Diri because of his peaceful disposition and for opening up several riverine communities with roads. Chief Timipre Sylva of APC is expected to have his highest votes of 33 per cent from his home Local Government Area of Brass followed by Yenagoa LGA where only 26 per cent of the respondents said they will vote for him. The survey report did not give Eradiri of LP any chance as only 9 per cent of respondents in Ogbia LGA, being the best figure said they will vote him and followed by the 8 per cent respondents in Yenagoa LGA, despite being his home Local Government Area. Twenty four opinion leaders were also interviewed in each of the 24 constituencies and their responses corroborated the survey report to the effect that the incumbent Governor, Sen. Diri, remains the best choice for governorship at this time bearing in mind that he has performed significantly well in the different sectors covering security, sports, education, health, roads construction, youth and women empowerment, skills acquisition and better welfare for civil servants including the gradual payment of outstanding gratuities to retirees. Fifteen of the opinion leaders particularly emphasised that the incumbent Governor has become a symbol of peace in the State and has demonstrated genuine commitment as a bridge builder who has restored security across the state. “Governor Diri is a likeable person. He has shown compassion and I see him a good man. That is the kind of leader we need now in Bayelsa State. He smiles from his inner heart. He does not care whether you are APC or PDP, he identifies with all. That’s a good quality for a great leader. Again, he is doing so much projects particularly the various road projects connecting our riverine communities. We are so happy with the Nembe-Brass road. We understand that the former President, Goodluck Jonathan and immediate past Governor Seriake Dickson are also supporting the current Governor for another term", an opinion leader in Nembe Local Government Area said. There were a few respondents still undecided on the candidate to vote among the three leading candidates. The Director, New Media, Dr. Kola Oredipe, who commissioned the experts to carry out the survey said he stands by the poll result and believes the outcome is the reality among prospective voters in Bayelsa State come November 11, 2023.
