jjk24: Nyc article bro thank God i found dis, cus i was jst bou to give up and lyk @ d stage of i wasnt cut out for dis. Well bein learning html for a while nw pretty simple was movin to css and den i was like y dah f**k am i learnin this its not like i was really into web development .. Why i really wanted to know programming was to create games and apps so i searched online best language to start with started with python got lost searched again got lost @ someone talking about memory allocation and stuff .. Dere and den i just gave up..
ok i get u, css and programming can be daunting if u did nt start really from understanding wat the language is about i'd suggest u get the basics of all programming languages from php, first learn the procedural structure then u jump oop, it might be daunting but dat is the basis for all oop languages, for games and apps u can use c# with frameworks or c++, but try and understand the basics of the language first.

If u can pull through php then other languages have similar syntax, i would suggest u learn the language well first then u will realise the power in wat u know, not jumping to start writing programs then u get stuck, also it will separate u from the bandwagon that do same apps daily.

kokoye: Ifs, ifs ifs ....

Not likely to happen.

Our culture and tradition is not one that breeds love.
But apart from CULTURE, most of us claim to be Christians, if 10% of us can at least behave like we are taught in church every sunday, Naija will change, our value system ,money at all cost seems to be the prevalent factor, if the 10% can believe in the bible which says "seek ye first the word all, i REPEAT all will be added to u", if we can take this and hold on to it i believe this country will change.

Not trying to praise a paticular Pastor, but for me a man like Pastor Sam Adeyemi, i watch his videos online about his passsion for this country, i need to say this, the man is talented, if we can have small love for this country starting from our leaders, this NAIJA will be a better place.
Travel › Re: Revelations At The US Embassy In Lagos: An Experience Of A Lifetime!!! by trytillmake(m): 2:59pm On Jul 01, 2014
pDude: I married a citizen so mine was very different from student visa and what not.

Many ppl in RCCG had testified that calling Pastor Adeboye usually made them get their visa. I didn't argue but I planned never to do that. Pastor adeboye is not my God and I don't even like the man cheesy
GUY U FUNNY SHA. grin grin WHY U NR LIKE BABA ADEBOYE NA?

lagtech: Wherever you are-work hard, work smart, make your family and country proud- let the child you were be proud of the person YOU HAVE become and enjoy God's Earth!
EM, OK GUY this yr words made my day, i need to paste this words somewhere on my system so i can remember this.

OK back to the matter, i was denied visa yr 2005, during my visa lottery interview, the crux of the mattter was that , the original age i filled in the online form during application (younger age) was not wat i presented in my birth certificate during the interview (older age), ok i was actually playing wen i filled the form did not really know i will win,but alas i cme win, did all the medicals, police report, passport and all the waka.

Na wen i cme finally go for interview na im the interviewer bring the form i fill online compare with my birth certificate i was presenting, oh boy i wan nearly faint, i cme lie say na cyber cafe attendant na im fill my form wrongly say i nr know, na lie oh, the interviewer nr gree, he just said sorry visa denied, yr age does not correlate with wat u filled before, kai, wen i go outside the embassy i sit down for one long bench outsite for almost 1 hr dey think.

But that is a long story nw, i nw realise opportunities abound in Naija especially in the IT sector which i am in, and on day i will surely visit Ame. go see wats up there, at least no venture no story.

Peace, welcome back Nairaland, could not really find an alternative to this forum during the hiatus, all the rest seemed to be trying too hard, and i was not really interested, but here people take time to share from all works of life, and that is the NAIJA SPIRIT, which i wish can be imbibed by all Nigerians.

Nigeria, Nigeria a natiion of more the 170 million people, if we at least have small love and believe in ourselves we will definitely rule AFRICA and conquer the world.

SEUN,S response to the site being down. His response on Sunday was "I AM SORRY" i tell u, that was the most uninsightful response u could give for a website that had more than a million followers, being viewed by Nigerians and foreigners from all the world, a repository of information, a potential source for companies to sell their brands, Government resource to sell their views to its citizens and much more, does SEUN know the value of Nairaland, does he know what he has in his hands, i tell u a co-worker in my office has been so moody since MONDAY because of Nairaland, then u now come and say, "I AM SORRY" that response was it directed to his babe he is breaking up on facebook or to lesser mortals,

Pls SEUN thank GOD Nairaland is back but pls i will like u to upgrade yr PR, U CAN'T do all alone, let people help u at least u would have given a not too technical explanation about the timeout then People would have been satisfied and alot of potential clients would have waited patiently, and u would have given daily tweets or posts on facebook so we knw wat's gwan.

I think u also need to upgrade the look of this yr site, seriously it is bland looking, content is good of course but let it be catchy at first experience, the mix with green can be played with.

I just had to say this, Since Nairaland being offline, i and my friends have been discussing the issue since Sunday and from Warri my guy called me yesterday and we still talked about it,so far one thing they all harped about was SEUN,S response to the site being down. O.k i'v read yr story and just want to share something for the purpose of all and upcoming designers, programmers, coders and generally those intereseted in I.T. We can all see I.T is the now, tommorrow and the future, even if u don't make adime now have the passion for it and above all be good in what you do, do not settle for "i dey try, i don be programmer" but go the extra mile know the stuff to be a pro in yr field.

I know guys today being paid more than a million naira per month as developers in naija here, the company i first worked a company designed their site for 800k (i saw the invoice, na that one make me vex enter web development) the job i first got was 300k (e be magic, but it is true)and today i wrk as a developer, learning as u did from those sites u stated above but i began my journey with http://www.tizag.com, so the sky is anyone's limit if u try and today we have mobile apps development, anyone with the right idea can a millionaire with the right thinking app for a company or for free.

I rest my case, have a lovely season everyone and a happy newyear.

But your university education, at least at the bachelor of arts level, was never intended to land you a job.
1. It was intended to make you a more complete thinker.
2. It was intended to teach you how to absorb complex information and make reasoned arguments.
3. It was, quite simply, intended to teach you how to learn.
Those are skills that you’ll use in any field of work.
Thank u for this thread, you have said it all.

Before u start asking for help,u said u know php considerably well, may i ask what u have done with it[what apps u have tried working on and developing with php,it is not about reading and knowing all the commands in the language that matters, it is about application]

Mind you i know people that learn't php on their own[non computer science graduates] from the web and ebooks and are working in top IT firms, they learn,t and practically started conjuring projects for themselves, some of these are wat they presented in their interviews.

So guy good luck in your search, but i must tell you apply wat u know, look for projects and try develop them with php, if u can't better u come her and ask questions or ask google, i bet u will learn that way.

Ok Mr want to learn Java for android step by step, i don't know if some1 will be willing to teach u step by step[xcept for payment of course] but i can point u to great step by step websites where u can learn programming easily.

First step go to http://www.homeandlearn.co.uk/java/java.html to learn java step by step there and you will have the basics to tackle other java books and get started in android.

To learn android i will point u to this website en.bookfi.org where u can download virtually any book u want on any language. search for these books below there [u might search and prefer others]

1. Learn Java for Android Development

2. Sams Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days (Covering Java 7 and Android)

So try these out and get started remember u have to crawl to walk then run, so take all step by step.
