The Boerboel is a Mastiff type dog which was bred for guarding duties and originates from South Africa. Derived from the Dutch Afrikaans word 'Boer' meaning farmer, its name translates as 'farmer's dog'. Boerboel was bred to be a strong, physical and heavy breed of dog, suited to the harsh, dry climate and large enough to dissuade thieves and robbers from laying a claim to anything on the homestead that took their fancy. Having strong territorial instincts, this breed remains a popular dog in South Africa today as a multipurpose farm and working dog, but has also grown in popularity as an urban family dog much for the same reason. I am an author of children educational books, although i am yet to trade due to capital, but i have published two of my books which were presented to schools around Alimosho Local Government in Lagos and was well accepted. I currently have created 16 books for pre-nursery to Year two; covering numeracy and literacy, and one science book for year one. Knowing the problems faced by publishing companies in Nigeria because of lack of electricity, not forgetting copyright issues. As a result of this, most schools use foreign books, at most times isn’t consistently supplied due to lack of continuation of the importers bringing the books back the next section. Having mentioned that, these books are created by me and i have spent years of my life making them, ensuring they comply to the educational schemes and the capital needed to bring these books is enoumous as I will need to employ marketers, rent a warehouse, shipping and logistics from China, where the books would be printed etc. Statistically, I have done my research around selling books to schools in Lagos state alone. For example, there are 259 nursery/primary schools in Alimosho Local Government and 135 in Agege Local Government and average of 15-30 students in classes my books covered. These are schools registered with the government and there are several other unregistered schools and some in the process of being registered, which are not included in the statistics. I already have a publisher to publish the series of my children educational books. I am looking for an investor to share the cost and the profit for just the next educational section, which is next year september. Please note that this is not a business partnership. I am happy if we can further discuss this. I will await a response from you if this is what you are looking to invest in. Time is of the essence, the publisher is waiting. Contact only if serious and ready to move forward. |

The month of Decenber is rapidly drawing closer and now that we are reaching the feasting period; I challenge you to seriously consider the way you are branding your business. You are building a brand, right? According to Barrett and Smimonds, there are 8 main elements to branding. A good branding campaign simply can’t exist without all 8 elements but very rarely do marketers sit down and think about each element before launching a campaign. So what are the 8 most important elements? They’re as follows: •Competitive context – do you have a needed/wanted product and does it exist in a competitive market? •Do you know your target market? Advertising without this information is a waste of your time and money. •Have you asked your customers for insight about the products and services you are offering? They’re the best source of information you have – and they’re almost always honest. •Does your product or company have features that set you apart from the crowd? •Do you offer benefits no other company offers? •Does your brand have a challenging, fun, and engaging personality or does it simply exist. •Do you know what makes you different from the competition? •Does your brand have its own essence? Is it real, invariable, and energetic? What type of brand are you working to build right now? Hopefully it’s something your customers (and employees, for that matter) can identify with. If not, you may need to consider making a few changes – and soon. All the best |

What makes an Entrepreneur? To me it is anticipating needs and fulfilling them. Entrepreneurs look to the future and the opportunities that are there. They have a strong sense of purpose and vision and follow and TAKE ACTION on that vision. Entrepreneurs are MASSIVE ACTION people – they would rather try something rather than think about it for 5 years! Another key trait is that they have an insatiable work ethic. They’ll be the first in and last out not because they have to, but because they want to because they LOVE what they do. They love making the deal. They also think differently too. Whereas Joe Lagbaja will go home and vegetate in-front of DSTV each night, the Entrepreneur is constantly thinking what can and could be done to improve their business albeit at a subconscious level. Reduce your TV watching by just 1 hour each night and read a business book or listen to a new business concept on CD instead and over 1 year that’s equivalent of an additional 250 hours or over 30 working days where you will have improved your skills! Do the same in your commute to work and you can take the equivalent of learning a PHD in your car! Entrepreneurs do what the masses do not. They are rare and as we all know there is value in rarity! |

What is a Strategic Alliance? As the old saying goes, two heads are better than one. If that’s the case, it only makes sense for businesses to consider forming strategic alliances in order to further enhance their marketing objectives. What exactly is a strategic alliance? A strategic alliance simply gives businesses the opportunity to work with others without losing their individual identities. Business owners are able to work as a team with other businesses, each working towards ultimately increasing his profit margin. Working as a team does not damage either business. In fact, most businesses that work together in alliance report an increase in business throughout the term of the partnership. Because the businesses forming an alliance are not necessarily competitors neither one takes away from the other. Instead, they serve to support each other by offering complimentary products or services. One example of a strategic alliance is the formation of an insurance company that is directly related to a specific bank. While the bank and insurance company are technically two separate entities, they may or may not fall under the umbrella of one major corporation. The bank may provide special services to customers who place their insurance policies with the insurance company; while the insurance group may offer discounts or special rates to those who do business with the bank. Strategic alliances need not be this complicated. Perhaps you and another business owner recognize a need for certain supplies but are not able to order the quantities needed to obtain a special wholesale or bulk price. Some business form alliance simply to make purchasing supplies or special products easier and more affordable. It’s important to note that a strategic alliance is not a merger or acquisition. Neither company is purchasing any part of the other. In the event that money is involved, the two companies may agree to form a third separate company together in order to keep their special project interests separate from their day to day operations, but this has no impact on the original companies in question. The formation of a strategic alliance can be incredibly beneficial on a number of different levels. Take a few minutes over the next couple of days to determine whether or not there are opportunities within your own business where forming a strategic alliance might provide for faster growth. Share your thoughts. I’d love to hear from you! Thanks again. |

An easy and beneficial way to build a client base is through business networking. You already contact other businesses on a regular basis for services most likely, so start building a business network referral system. Get together with other business owners that offer services that complement yours, and discuss a client referral program. A little quid pro quo in this area can go a long way. Often interior design groups have preferred construction companies. Certain event locations work in partnership with specific catering companies. These kinds of business partnerships can be very beneficial to both parties. *Where Do I Meet Other Business Owners There are several possibilities when looking for business networking opportunities. Many local businessmen attend Business Group meetings in their districts. Trade shows bring together business owners from a variety of related industries and offer an excellent opportunity to meet other business owners. Major suppliers of a particular industry often have events to which business owners are invited, and there is always looking a person up on LinkedIn to find someone near you. *Finding the Right Businesses to Partner With Referral networks can be a great way to bring in new customers, but you do need to ensure that the companies you work with are above reproach. If you associate with companies that provide poor service or do shoddy work, that can affect your company’s reputation. Look for local industry leaders that are highly regarded within your community. The business must be in the same industry, but not in direct competition. How to Get Buy-In from other Proprietors Other business owners are just as interested in finding new customers as you are. Being contacted with a mutual referral offer is almost never poorly received. Not all companies will want to join that kind of network, but many recognised the value. Not only will they receive clients from your recommendations, but their own clients will be better served. When a client is having a difficult time finding a reliable company and receives a good recommendation, they remember both the company that did such good work and the referring company. Business to business network referrals are a great way to generate cross industry traffic. So many jobs require more than one specialty that having a network of professionals that you can contact is very helpful. Clients appreciate knowing that the companies they are working with come highly recommended from industry professionals. Happy marketing! 1 Like |

DailyNews: @OP, God will continually bless & increase your wisdom. This is among the best piece I have read on nairaland, so inspiring indeed. There are bunch of young talented Engineers in UK that are not afraid to exploit other countries, even though its Nigeria (considering the reputation). Find a good website and post your business intent, who knows, you might hit a jackpot. |
