"Frienship" only exists where one of the people involved doesn't find the other physically attractive. So when the unattractive or unattracted one begins to have ideas, the other person would naturally shrink. But where they are attracted to each other frim the beginning, there is no time for bland "friendship". It becomes pure biology, no matter the circumstances. Hence, relationships like "childhood sweethearts" extra marital affairs etc are possible. "frindship" is born where there is no mutual attraction. |
Promhize: OP and so? Nigerians aren't dumb. That age is normal for Aircrafts Tolexander: It depends on the maintainance and proper servicing. jmoore: so?All of the above. |
NOT CORRECT. JUST INVESTIGATED. THE AIRCRAFT THAT FLEW WITH THAT FLIGHT NUMBER IS REGISTERED 5N-JOY AND IS ALREADY FLYING THIS MORNING. |
Irrespective of the varied opinions on the poster, one thing is clear: The guy is living life on his own terms. Not many can say that. |
tsharp: Please where can I find the engine no. of my 2004 VW passat. My roadie had me register the car with a number he copied from the engine block, before I knew to keep my distance from him. Then another chap who worked on my gear problems swore that it is the number on a sticker conspicuously near the engine fans. Pls help. Don't want an encounter with the police on this account.Problem solved. |
smartchoice: So you understand my statementIf you are interested you can call me too But I'll put pictures and make a proper advert in the correct section maybe by next week. But by then I'll be selling for 300k. No negotiation. The car is pay and drive. |
smartchoice: No Nicodemus sales on nairaland please. You're not doing him a favor he's paying hard earned cash! The least you can do is to answer him openly where you met him then perhaps he or any other person may be interested.I don't get your point. I'm sure the poster understands what I'm saying. But to be clear, putting the car up for sale had not crossed my mind until I saw his post. If he needs it urgently, he can contact me. If not, no probs. When I'm ready I'll advertise like everyone else. Taking pictures and uploading is not quite what I want to do right now. And I don't need to sell the car. |
I'm not advertising for sale. I only replied to your request. I live in Lagos so you can come and inspect at any time. You don't have to pay if you don't like it. I've also decided to give it to you at your asking price. |

I have a used audi 90 I can give you if you can add 20k. It's in top shape and I only stopped using it this morning as I have a new passat. Call me on 08098383988 if you are interested. |
And how do you deal with the Nigerian customs? Can someone who is not an agent walk into the customs office himself and pay the duties? |
Also, you don't need to pay duty to authorities in cotonu because the importer has already paid at the port before bringing the car into the parks,so apart from the parks fees etc,u don't pay duty. @Saintjoel Seriously? Everybody believes they pay duties to the cotonou customs. In fact, for the car I bought which came 2 weeks late, I was made to understand it had even entered demurage (pardon the spelling. don't know the word) and they demanded extra 100,000 cfa added to the 510,000 I paid to the cotonou agent. Some kind of investigation involving the cotonou customs was done (stories I was told sha). So please say it again, you don't need to pay duties at cotonou? |
I also had a damaging experience with this cotonou thing. As I speak, the car I bought is roasting under the sun in my compound because the the gear brainbox was stolen after purchase and the dealer drove it down like that, and evaporated into thin air before I made the discovery. And this, after the car came 2 weeks later than the advertised 48 hours. I have explained everything on the guy's thread and won't want to repeat myself here. I just want to reiterate what others have said, which is that the truth is very hard to come by with these cotonou merchants. Is it better to buy in Lagos? I don't know. Should one go by one's self and shine their eyes throughout the process? Perhaps. But one thing is for sure - be ready for some kind of inconvenience with this thing. |
GO BACK TO THE LAST PAGE (18) FOR THE MODIFICATION TO MY LAST POST. IT IS A MUST READ!!!!!!! |
I'll let you be. A good businessman knows when to put up his hands and say sorry. You will blossom in business the day you learn this fact. That you kept defending yourself even in the presence of your so-called lawyer when I could clearly see where you bashed my new car that came two weeks late and mutilated the opposite side tells a lot about where you are going. You should probably stop at giving price quotations, because just about everything else you offer from Seme border is a lie. |
I told you before we left that I would be relying on your vin-check and not the mechanic. I told you clearly that I was taking the guy along to make him happy since he will be doing the maintenance. I turned to him when suddenly you said the car was from Europe so you can't do a vin check. Are you still sure it is from Europe? Or do you want me to provide the vin no. for others to go and check? It is true that the car was ok before we paid. But what happened in the 2 weeks before it got to me? It may not have been your intention for things to go so horribly wrong. But you cannot accuse me of lying after everything I went through. The gear brain box was stolen before you delivered it to me. You barely left my house when I called you to tell you the gear was behaving funny. Remember? I am not now asking for money. I am simply saying, say sorry. Openly. |
You don't even need to be a fool to know that able.prince and oviecardealer are the same person. The bad grammer alone tells it all. I had no intention of exposing the dealer I was talking about or spoiling your business. I wanted you to take a hint and be more circumspect about the promises you make. Anybody that knows about automobiles knows you can still drive one without a GEAR BRAINBOX from cotonou to Lagos a couple of times and get away with it, and that is what you did. What about bashing the car and spending the whole day at a panel-beater while you said you were at a car wash? How about deliberately distorting the opposite side to the side you bashed so I will think it is thesame thing? Or do you want me to upload pictures? All I want is an open apology here on this thread. I met you on this forum. So if something goes wrong, as has happened, I owe it to the public to say it here as well. AN OPEN APOLOGY. PLUS THE TRUE STORY. IN YOUR OWN WORDS. And lest I forget, how did 48 hours turn to 2 weeks? |
Or do you think I should start another thread and put the merchant's name on it and write NIGERIANS BEWARE! Tell me what you think I should do. |
The car I am talking about came after 2 weeks and now needs #120,000 to get on the road despite all the sweet talking and heartbreak I had to endure. Tell NLers Ovie, can you treat your customers like that? The merchant will not even call to find out how I am doing and is going about writing and promising more Poo. Can you do that Ovie? |
Are you sure you always deliver within 48 hours and ALWAYS do a vin check and the vehicle always comes with the chassis unbroken and vital components like brainbox don't get stolen? Please I want to know because of the experience I had with a NL cotonou merchant other NLers need to know about |
gluv01: She looks cool. At least it tells off her insecurity compared to some other actresses. Two female celebs I can vat for anytime that are confident of their looks without makeup- Kate Henshaw and Ebube Nwagbo.Stephenie Okereke too. Seen her at least 10 times off screen and not once wearing make up. The thing does her great injustice. |
Siena: When you had the ATF changed, what type / brand was used? Where was the work carried out? Replacing the ATF / oil in the ZF transmission is a complex procedure - the temperature of the transmission MUST be monitored with the appropriate diagnostic software, capable of logging temperature, and with measuring block capability. A suction pump is also required to remove the old fluid.I'm scared to say I use a standard 'roadie'. He'd been rolling with my audi 90 for the past 8 yrs and certified himself an expert on all volkswagen brands and did check and test drive my newly acquired 179k miles passat. Yesterday I saw how clueless he was with this car, and I know he has seen my back for the last time. Anyway, I used an extremely expensive Dexron VI ATF. When I called the supplier to tell him of the persistent problem, he said it could go away as the system adjusted to the new ATF. The gear position indicator does not light up at all. I've never seen it. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)is on permanently. Also on are the ABS and Anti-Slip Regulation indicators. The generator indicator (looks like a battery) also comes on and the engine goes off sometimes; it starts again though. I have concluded I would find a good garage where I can have the engine scanned for proper diagnosis. But I will appreciate any tips I can be fore-armed with, please, sir. |
Siena: Sounds like you've got either a broken forward and reverse clutch drum, or the ATF could be low, or even dirty. Have the drivetrain scanned, it's fully OBDII compliant.I just had the ATF changed believing it would solve the problem. I'm not very sure about the filter but will check with the mechanic. The gear position indicator isn't working at the moment so I wouldn't know. But I will speedily have the drivetrain scanned as suggested and the clutch drums checked. Thank you very much sir. |
Volkswagen Passat 18T 5 speed tiptronic 2004 Sir, my just acquired used car jerks and makes a frightening sound like a hammer on a desk when auto transmission is engaged, either in D or R and it is sluggish off the ground. It picks up speed gradually and seems to be selecting ok. Kindly advise. Thank you. |
@Ajanlekoko Thanks for this. It's just that these foreign models are a bit dizzying, given our Nigerian realities. That there is so little interest in my topic also tells me I have to rely on your suggestion and Nigerianise what I learn. Thanks again. |
