A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to narrate his experience with a keke driver.

According to the twitter user @gbaja_adeoluwa I boarded his keke this morning in a hurry and I forgot my iPhone in his keke, i only realize 30minutes later that my phone was gone(I froze) then
I called and he picked, he found me and returned it.

I first did idobale and walked away, I came back and forced a cash gift on him

5 Nigerian girls at 2019 Technovation World Pitch Summit need our votes!

Five young Nigerian girls have earned themselves a slot in the 2019 Technovation World Pitch Summit that is being held at Silicon Valley in California , U . S . A . after they emerged as finalists for creating an app to help finance an education for indigent children called “ Handsout ”.

The five kids whose ages range between ages 10 and 11 are : Pandora Onyedire , Ayomikun Ariyo , Ivana Mordi , Jadesola Kassim and Munachiso Chigbo of Standard Bearers School , Lekki phase 1 , Lagos.

They already won the State , Regional & National Level for innovation with their App and are currently in Silicon Valley at the global finals.

There are already children benefiting from the App the girls have created and many more will.

Apart from the chance to win scholarships, the kids will also have opportunities to network , go on field trips and workshops and I can imagine they will even be the better for it.

Now the girls have gotten to the finale and they need our votes!!
Please let ’ s support the @sbslekki # Brainsquad and their wonderful app “ Handsout. ”

They are the first on the list of candidates to be voted.

So, vote for them via : https://technovationchallenge.org/world-pitch/peoples-choice-award/#vote

Black African foreign-owned shops were targeted in Soweto Wednesday evening as some residents went on a looting spree.

A night of violence and intimidation erupted in Soweto, Johannesburg on Wednesday night, as dozens of local residents turned on the black African foreign nationals who run spaza shops in the area.

A number of stores were targeted by the community. Police have attempted to restore calm in the area throughout the early hours of the morning, as they try to find a motive to this case.

The looting incidents were confirmed in Zola, Emdeni, Moletsane, White City, Zondi and Rockville by police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele.

He said that there was no indication yet as to why the looting had started, and said the police officers on the ground were monitoring the situation.
At least six people have been arrested so far.

Reacting to the news, The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission or SAHRC) condemned the looting of shops owned by non-nationals in different parts of Soweto, and called on everyone to respect and uphold the rule of law and refrain from criminal actions, particularly when such acts are directed against vulnerable groups.

This is however not the first time black African foreign-owned shops have been targeted in Soweto, at around the same time last year, several shops were looted with many residents accusing the establishments of selling fake goods and expired foods.

FamilyTanzanian Authorities To Publish Names Of Married Men To Protect Single Women by tstx(op): 8:46am On Aug 15, 2019
Authorities in Tanzania are considering publishing the identities of all married men on a website run by a state agency as part of efforts to curb cheating and protect young women from “unnecessary heartbreaks.”

Dar es Salaam regional commissioner, Paul Makonda, who disclosed this on Monday, August 12, said: “I have received a lot of complaints from young women. Many women from Dar es Salaam region have been deceived many times, and they have had enough.

“Men have been promising to marry them, then later, they ditch the ladies and this is something that is humiliating,” the regional commissioner said.

“These cunning men have left many women nursing heartbreaks and emotional bruises. You’ll find a young man successfully wooing a woman, making her leave every other thing that she does, hoping that the man will marry her, not knowing that he is, indeed, conning her.

“If you look at the laws that we have in the country, there is a clause that protects women, who were promised marriages, only to be used and dumped. We want to use that clause to bring sanity in relationships.”

If adopted, all married people would be required to register their marital statuses with the region’s database agency. Any woman who has been promised marriage can then access the database to find out if the man who has made that promise is already married or not.

In that database, all the marriages, including Christian, customary, Muslim, those filed at the registrar of marriages, will be registered, Makonda said.
“We want to reduce the cases of men conning women in the name of love and marriages.

“We are planning to meet the State agency in charge of the citizens’ database. Once that meeting is done, you, who lied to a woman that you will marry her, but ended up using and dumping her, be prepared, we are coming for you.”
