Mccollins042:
China just lost 500b USD of annual trade, there is no way this isn't gonna cripple their economy.
The only leverage xi has is that china is a communist nation and their will hardly be an uproar from the suffering population but America has free speech and ppl will certainly protest. If not in any trade war, the consumer has the cards
Cripple is an exaggeration. It will have significant effect. But a nation that built success with hardwork, grit and perseverance will not crumble/cripple because of $436bn market loss. Mind you, even at over 200% tariff, a significant portion of the goods from China that enters US will still be attractive to final consumer when you take away the crazy markup wholesalers put on goods. And that's what the Chinese manufacturers are doing now, creating a direct channel to final consumers

China trades with MORE countries than the US does. That is the difference. Africa cannot afford Made-In-USA products, and even the ones which come as aid sef, Trump has cancelled USAID. The remittances sent by Africans in the US have nothing to do with African countries trading with China or anyone else.
We may be saying the same thing. My point is that US will not fidget about the possibility of losing African market in terms of trade-. I know China will not crumble too because of just US market.
You have a point about remittances.

tilting allegiance to china is not optional to Africa, Africans can't afford American products even when they were made in china talk more of now that they will be made in US
The whole of Africa, over 50 countries bought $34 billion thereabout from US last year, if this dries up, i dont think US will flinch. secondly, the aid that US gave Africa in 2024 is $41billion.
Another thing US is home to many Africans that contribute so much to remitances to Africa, African countries cant afford to have that dry up.

Africa is a dumping ground for other countries, they can't allow USA to monopolize the economy of Africa, it was be an economy war
truth be told there is no consuming market in Africa. The things Africa have is natural resources and potential workforce....and this is potential threat to China/not US, if Africa is ready.

while Africa important 173b Dollars worth of goods from China under the same period.

The trade between China and Africa in 2023 was about 289 billion dollars
this is still not up to half of what US alone imported from China in 2024(nearly $440billion). Africa does not speak with one voice economically, so it will not be wise for China to think they have the whole of African market because they have a good bilateral trade agreement with some African leaders. Wanting to use over 50 countries(with very low purchasing power) to replace 1 rich country that lives by consumerism and materialism is not it.

China have a trade surplus of $295bn over US compared to trade surplus of $61bn over Africa. This is not something they will find easy to overcome. We know they can produce, but can Africa afford to buy, meanwhile lots of African countries collecting stipend, subsidized medication and aides from US will not really tilt their trade allegiance to China

the USA cannot do that to Africa. It will lead to the greatest economic war against the USA
yinmu, the whole of Africa bought $32billion from US in 2024 which was even almost 12% increase over 2023..in the same 2024 the US exported $143billion to China alone

Plateau Killings: We Will Surprise Those Responsible – IGP

I have never seen a more useless statement or approach. You are telling people you want to surprise that you will surprise them grin grin grin so that they can go and clean up their tracks since you have announced to them that you're coming to catch them.
An IGP that is announcing that he will surprise criminals, how can this one succeed in intelligence gathering
the only time you announce to criminals that you are coming for them is when you want the criminals to escape before you get to them

I have capacity to become President-Makinde. This sounds like the same script Fayemi, Akpabio and the rest played in 2022 with APC primaries. Put themselves in the conversation earlier, then along the line collapse their support base into Tinubu's endeavour, creating that sense of "massive collaboration" in the minds of unsuspecting voters

Delta governor, cross river, edo, rivers fake administrator, ALL ready to use their RSIEC to either write victory for Tinubu in their states or at least burst the stronghold of Tinubu's opponents.
Tinubu dun use rivers test the microphone, people protest, govt declare state of emergency, soldier enter street, everybody relax and start protesting on social media
Politics › Re: PDP Is Finished If Atiku Gets 2027 Ticket - Bode George by tunapawizzy: 7:17am On Apr 15, 2025
Fiscus105:
No southern can defeat Tinubu but Atiku? This is how people like you deceived and defeated yourself with useless political calculations that handed presidency to Tinubu, going by ur logic,if Atiku dies today, nobody would ever challenge APC til thy kingdom comes.

WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO DEFEAT TINUBU TODAY.(That's even by 65% assurance, because Tinubu would not only rig second term, he would also go for 3rd term)
1. There must be collusion of oppositions

*They MUST allow Obi as their candidate.
Bala Muhammed as Vice
*All the party bigwigs across oppositions, ....led by Atiku himself, El Rufai, Kwankwaso Tambuwal, etc must ready to work assiduously by backing Obi.

If they do that, they have 65-70% assurance, anything outside that is effort in futility, meanwhile, this arrangement is almost impossible.

NB. With Obi, south east and 70% south south will go for him, even in South West, as it stands today, Tinubu would struggle to get 50%, even Lagos is base, they only surporting him with eye service.

And for the north, if Atiku and other govs ready to back Obi, couples with Obi Christian cult FOLLOWERS in the north, I think he might have upper hand.
I see you are talking about what is good for the country, i am talking about the reality of northern voters. If you have a little idea how they think in the north politically, you will not need a soothsayer to tell you that the north will work to get power back to their region as quickly as possible. 1. To try their luck in 2027 and if that will not work 2. To have power back in 2031. You can call me anything you like, but the north will prefer someone that will leave office in 2027 to 2031. I am not saying this is the right mindset, infact I think it's a stupid mindset because the suffering they are going through should inform their decision but I am talking about the reality of northern voters.

Meanwhile how is 70% in south south going to be for obi, even when he wasn't president tinubu still rigged rivers, now he is president, he has inec, police, military, power to rig rivers more, he will do the same in edo, cross river...as things stand today, only delta, little bayelsa and akwa ibom will not rig for tinubu in SS. You may dislike him, I am not a fan of him too but you need a political colossus to dislodge Tinubu's northern votes in 2027- obi/Bala ticket will not do it.
Business › Re: Nigerians Shift To Made-In-Nigeria Product As Imported Item Become Too Expensive by tunapawizzy: 6:38am On Apr 15, 2025
Nigerians should be thanking the people that made things more expensive, because it has forced them to use their brains, and start using stuff produced in Nigeria.
Politics › Re: PDP Is Finished If Atiku Gets 2027 Ticket - Bode George by tunapawizzy:
Bode George should pick a struggle. Does he want Tinubu to win or not. No southern candidate can defeat Tinubu for a number of reasons.
1. He has better political network in the north than any other candidate from the south, no one from the south comes close actually
2. The north will prefer for tinubu to finish in 2031 and get power back than to align with a different southerner that will most likely want to do 2027 to 2035. And no one should fool anybody about another southerner doing just 4 years and deciding to leave in 2031.

The only thing that takes Tinubu away from that seat is Atiku winning the majority of votes in the north in alliance with obi votes from the south east.

Anything outside this, it's tinubu till 2031. So people like Bode George should decide what is important to them, winning by all means OR being politically correct.
In 2023 Apc could have done tinubu and another northern Christian, but of what political value would the northern Christian be. Election has to be won first before any calculation about who is next.

Travel › Re: Japa-Da: Nigerians Abroad Return Home Amid Dashed Expectations by tunapawizzy:
Is it really dashed expectations. Stop fooling people with distorted analysis. People that are coming back home are doing so because they have now raised capital abroad to help them float and run their personal business.
For example people are coming back home to set up farms of 100million naira(so much more in some cases) where sales of eggs, goats and birds alone can fetch them good profit while they wait for their palm trees and cocoa to turn to hundreds of millions in the next few years. Will they raise the 100million naira if they didn't live abroad for some time.
A lot of people went abroad so they can quickly raise capital to help them set up their stuff, no be everybody go abroad because they want to be snapping fine pictures for the gram.
