Please all the gurus in the house please help. Oga Bellong, udz, jukblam etc, please since vetaseses gave me the reply I told you guys earlier, I decided to take the second option Oga Bellong asks me to take. Which is mechanical engineering draft person. And tis being assessed by engineers Australia. So my question is, do I just write my cdr based on only my project work i did in school. Can I still write on my eight years experience in NDT I had in three different companies, why I asked is because I shall be be writing my cdr on my 8 yrs experience not as a draft person but the experience is on another field which is NDT. My second question is can I nominate directly as a mechanical engineer with my HND and ND since I have ova 8 yrs experience? Please am looking forward to your answers. Dis whole choice making tins don dey give my wife headache abeg make una help answer us b4 she go fall sick. So dat we go conclude for one occupation. Thanks to you all |
@winningsun Thanks for the quick response. Pls did you mean that I should still read thru the vetaseses and apply under them @ also thanks okosay for ur response may God bls |
Oga belong ,udz and all the gurus in the house please help. please after concluding on materials and metallurgical technician which is being assessed by vetasses. because it matches with my work experience as an NDT ENGINEER which is also known as materials and metallurgical technician in Australia. though I am a Mechanical engineer by profession. I decided to send them an email and it goes like dis. Please I have a concern. I have an HND in Mechanical engineering (Option is production/Manufacturing). Also I have over 9years experience in 3 different companies worked. Please see breakdown below, 1. One year as an NDT inspector 2.Five years as an NDT inspection Engineer in another company, 3. two years and six months as a quality Engineer in the 3rd company. Now my question is, On the list I saw metallurgical or materials technician with vetassess as the accessing body. This role describe most of what I do in the job responsibilities (NDT). can I nominate this bearing in mind that i am a mechanical engineer by profession. Can you please kindly advice. Best regards, simon And here is their reply Dear Simon, Thank you for your email. VETASSESS is the assessing authority for the occupation of Metallurgical and Materials Technician (ANZSCO Code 312912) and the assessment criteria is as following: Metallurgical and Materials Technician (ANZSCO Code 312912) This occupation requires a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma, in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, applicants must have at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years in a field which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation. If employment is not post-qualification, then three additional years of highly relevant employment are required. If the qualification is not in a highly relevant field, two years of employment at an appropriate skill level, completed in the last five years which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation is required. This is reduced to one year if there is an additional qualification at least at AQF Certificate IV level in a highly relevant field. A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome. Unfortunately we are not able to advise you if you can nominate this occupation. For more details of the occupation, please refer to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) website. Should you have further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact our office. Regards, Jenny Huang Assessment Officer Skills Recognition – General Occupations Please I don't know what to do at this particular junction .They are not straight forward people .and from all that I ve seen how they assessed people negative when they are supposed to be assessed positively. why I am kinda scared is because ,from their response my qualification as a mechanical engineer is far from a material and metallurgical technician , but they don't want to come out plain. please am so so confused please help me out to make the right decision . another question is if I decide to choose the other options oga Bellong and udz told me i.e mechanical engineering draftperson or the likes and decide to match my job experience with theirs should I include my training certificates on NDT and other trainings done that is not even related to a mech engine draftperson? please advise and may God bless you all ijn amen simon |
@oga Bellong I appreciate I shall finally settle for materials and and metallurgical technician technician because all my 8 years experience in and All My trainings certificates na in ndt not for mechanical engine or draft person. Tnks |
Thanks UDZ and Oga Bellong I go settle for materials and metallurgical technician or because it virtually relates to my ndt. And all my trainings. Though I will be to face d vetaseses peeps. By God's grace |

@oga udz Please I also found out that , EA don't accept PTE English exams. |
@oga UDZ and Oga Bellong thanks ohhhhhh for your quick response. But please one more question and I no go disturb una again. As for mechanical engineering technician, they are being assessed by TRA and not EA. or una suggest I apply directly as a mechanical engineer thru EA? I and dey go accept my HND ? also my HND was from petroleum training Institute (PTI).or do you think my HND dey equivalent to their BSC ? Thanks once more you guys are great. Cheers |
@Oga Udz Thanks for your quick response. Really I for apply directly as a MECH engineer and being assessed by EA. But unfortunately, na HND I get, because I see BSC. SO that's why I am trying the other alternatives. Any other advice I dey wait ohhhhhh. Thanks |
@Oga Bellong thanks for the prompt response oh may God really bless you. As a mechanical engineer as I told you before ,but I was employed as an NDT engineer with five years experience with company A and one year experience with company B, then 2 years and six months with company C which is the multinational .So the other time i asked if i could nominate mechanical engineering technician , which you reply that i should do. But after going tru the job descriptions and all the trainings i ve undergone these past few years of my experience , i came to a conclusion that it didn't really match. But it matches with Metallurgical or Materials Technician which are being assessed by vetasses . So please what i want you to advice me on is that though i did not study metallurgy or materials engineering but i have all my years of experience in NDT and i also ve lots of training and their certificates in NDT and other trainings related to the metallurgy or materials engineering technician .so please can you advice me to still go ahead with the mechanical engineering technician or I can go ahead to nominate metallurgy or materials engineering technician knowing fully well that i am a mechanical Engineer. I look forward to your kind response. thanks |
Please doyen Can you please forward the PTE material to my email. idenigbefortunate@gmail.com I shall be very grateful thanks |
