Nairaland / General / Oshogbo Riot Or Is It Protest? by tunday2020(m): 9:14am On Oct 18, 2020
It is definitely not out of place to say Osun is experiencing riot due to the outrageous display of lunacy by some unscrupulous youths of the state yesterday during #EndSARS protest.

It is usually believe that the organisers of the protest in almost every parts of the country have on many occasions insist it is a peaceful protest even when lives have been lost carelessly either form the bullets of the security agents trying to disperse protesters or oppositions.

Nairaland / General / Re: Ending SARS May Not End Police Brutality In Nigeria by tunday2020(m): 3:59pm On Oct 13, 2020
tunday2020:
Nigeria today is divided into two categories of people regarding the current issue of the defunct Police Unit, code named SARS. They're the End SARS categories and Reform SAR/NPF categories.

As fate will have it, the End SARS has achieved their major goal, which is for the government to scrap the dreaded police unit called SARS. The Inspector General of Police had on Sunday announced the nationwide scrapping of SARS with the promise to come up with another unit to take up the role of the defunct SARS.

Now does that solve our problem? And why are the protesters still protesting even after cancellation of SARS? That's the question on many lips. And as believed by many, this scrapping will not solve our problem until the IGP and the Federal Government do the right thing by attending to the plights of the officers. Especially the lower cadres.

Nairaland / General / Oduduwa Republic: A Joke Or What? by tunday2020(m): 11:19pm On Sep 26, 2020
The call for the creation of Oduduwa republic or what some see as a Yoruba country is becoming deafening as various Yoruba organisation are backing the call for sovereignty.
As a Yoruba man that believes in oneness of Nigeria, I can't but say "No" to separation.

My only option is a reversal to the regional government of the old, any other thing aside that is a joke.

Business / Re: Dangote Refinery Will Sell Petrol At International Price, Says FG by tunday2020(m): 11:57am On Sep 22, 2020
unique456:
The minister said this on NTA’s ‘Good Morning Nigeria’ program on Monday, which was monitored by our correspondent. She said the only thing Nigeria would not need to pay is the shipping cost. Zainab said, “What we are doing is enabling the petroleum sector to actually grow. There have been a number of refineries that have been licensed for several years. None of them was willing to start refining under the regime that we had were fuel was controlled.

“The Dangote refinery is sitting within an Export Processing Zone so they are insulated from that. When we buy fuel from Dangote, we will be buying fuel at the international market price.

The only savings that we will be making is the savings of freight which is shipping. “But we will still have landing cost; labor cost and the marketers will still have to put a margin.

These refineries being those that are supposed to have come to operate can now come in because they are assured that when they produce, they can sell at market rate and recover their investments and make some reasonable profits.” She said the deregulation of the sector which led to an increase in the petrol price was good for the economy as it would encourage investments in refineries. Ahmed added, “It will mean more refineries will open, they will employ people and fuel will be available in different parts of the country and not just relying on the government refineries.

Nigerians have been reacting to the recent increase in price of petrol and electricity as a result of deregulation, then the Minister of Finance was reported to have issued a statement on behalf of Federal Government that Dangote may sell petrol based on Internationally regulated price. Here's my view on it.

Politics / Nigerian Army Beyond The War Front by tunday2020(m): 11:59pm On Sep 12, 2020
Unarguably, the Nigerian Army has been having the most turbulence period in the last one decade. From the Boko Haram insurgence war in the North East, to the Banditry ravaging various parts of the country. They have been engaging in series of operations like Operation Python Dance, Operation Hadarin Daji, Operation Lafia Dole then Operation Whirl stroke dovetailing into Operation Hailstorm.

With these myriad of challenges facing the army, it has took it upon itself to further provide succour to the infrastructural deficits of their host communities and Nigeria in general.

Nairaland / General / On The Fuel Hike, I Got These For The Discos, Tcn, Genco And The Buyers by tunday2020(m): 5:59pm On Sep 04, 2020
It is no doubt that as Nigerians, you're either part of the cheaters or you're the cheated. Allah emphasized the importance of trade and attribute punishments to fraud which today is legally done in Nigeria.

Today as Nigerians, we have no one to run to when we feel cheated! The government maybe handicapped with a well scripted fraudulent agreement that will either place the country in bondage or restrict the honey to a few throats.

The recent announcement of hike in PMS and Electricity bill have generate lots of commotions. When to some like myself, the increment in PMS price is not surprising as we (some of us) called for a total deregulation of the downstream sector.

When we talk of deregulation in a country where refinery workers consume billions without producing a litre of PMS, we are actually calling for an hike in price.

The only way to have a balance pricing is by making sure we refine the crude in our country which as of today is impossible. The rise in exchange rate is a factor to be considered.

Is the government doing anything? Yes, the government is doing something at least based on the information at our disposal.

The licensing of modular refineries is a nice way to go, although, Rome was not built in a day. It will take time before the effort of this present government will manifest not until when the refineries like Dangote refinery with capacity of 600,000bpd is operational, Edo modular refinery and others.

It is no doubt that this government has achieved what the previous governments failed to, but only time will tell.

ON THE ELECTRICITY.

I frown at the increment although nothing can be done. It is not funny that the electricity providers are legal robbers. They'll not supply us electricity but will never fail to bring estimated bills.

We called for prepaid metres, they won't supply. We hardly have 5 hours of electricity, even most times it will be available in the mid night when the poor Barber would've retired for the day. The Welder man would have left for home. So, how do you expect them to get money to pay you?

Thanks to the recent agreement signed between the Nigerian government and their Germany counterpart. We should pray and expect the Siemens's contract to yield the required result.

I'll leave the those who are making life unbearable for Nigerians with this verse of the Qur'an, as they are found of milking us but failed to provide adequate service.

Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Raheem
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ

Wailul lil mutaffifeen
1. Woe to those who give less [than due],

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ

5. For a tremendous Day –

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Yawma yaqoomun naasu li Rabbil ‘aalameen

كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ

7. No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

8. And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ
