I need you guys to learn something on nairaland: you don't need to insult someone before correcting or educating him. Stop all these attacks; it's Enugu thread not Politics section. Thanks
Sorry I was so pissed that the boy came here asking silly question and only name he got was Izu Ojukwu, these western guys go round spreading false news in different media against us, same lies they been dishing out in education, ITC until we boasted their lies, just imagine his stupidity and lies that local movie producers make #3000 budget for movies, did he know how much the pay our actors and actress to future in a movie or how much they spend on locations and logistics? Our movies dominate Africa movie industries and third in the world, Igbos founded Nollywood not Yorubas or Hausas, all the areas we are leading they find ways to discredit our efforts, In education they will say it's exam malpractice that is why we are leading, commerce they will say we sale fake goods, indigenous industries they will say we manufacture fake products, Nollywood they also condemn our efforts and what have you, just imagine the f**l condemning Anambra for constructing rural roads huh very ignorant dude, did he know how many Anambarians access those rural roads to work to major cities in the state? Did he know how many use those rural roads to their farms, industries, markets etc on daily basis, with their awkward mentality, that's why when you visit their states hardly you see good building or good rural accessible roads, most of their people that leave in Anambra selling herbal medicine go to those rural areas to rent houses because they can't afford houses in the cities, the f**l should tell me any tribe in Nigeria that boasted of indigenous industries and entrepreneur more than Igbos.

Not just the leadership. The igbo business culture needs to evolve to embrace teamwork and complex organization. Igbos founded Nollywood but you cannot name a single Igbo studio or production house. They are still making 3,000 low budget films. Meanwhile it is people like Afolayan and Mo Abudu blazing trails in bigger budget well marketed films.

Companies like Innoson should have minority 30% shareholding by state government s. Then they are invested in his success and he should be producing the vehicles they use of similar quality to what foreign imports.
You are very daft and ignorant, some Igbos here are so ignorant not to reply you, no wonder you came to Enugu thread and busy posting rubbish, you will sit in your mud enclave in west and be writing rubbish, come to Anambra thread and write this rubbish for them to wash you blue and black ignoramus.

Anambra has made Anioma esp Asaba side come back to their senses abt being Igbo, it is left for Abia to bring Rivers into the for. Once Rocha's becomes president this things will be sorted out.
Anambra really played critical role by influencing Anioma, I was in Rivers and discussing with my Ikwerre friend why they are denying being Igbo, he then told me they don't what to be sideline by fg like their kin in southeast, he went further by using Aba as case study, no infrastructure and what have you, average Anioma man or woman that visit Onitsha have no choice than to be proud of Igbo heritage, I could remember when Obiano invited Okowa for joint security meeting, also with former states of both states, majority of business guys in Onitsha leave in Asaba and do business in Onitsha, Igbo language is very common in Asaba, all motor packs, markets, churches, schools many from Anioma leave in Anambra, I went to my niece inter house sports in Asaba, they were proud of their Igbo heritage. Abia and IMO really need to play good role not the cat and mouse relation between Rocha's and Wike. Their major issue is fear.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N10.7billion for the establishment of 10 new rice mills.

This was disclosed yesterday by the Ministers of State for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri after the Council’s meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Lokpobiri said that the Council approved the 10 rice mills with the capacity to produce 100 tonnes per day, and the mills would be managed by private rice millers.

“Today the Federal Executive Council approved the establishment of 10 very large rice mills to enhance the milling capacity of rice value chain in the country.

“Few years ago it was reported that this country needs a minimum of 100 large rice mills. As of today we have about 21 but Federal Government in its wisdom decided that today we should approve the establishment of 10 at the total cost of N10.7billion.

“These would be given to the sector to manage which they will be pay back within a given timeframe as it would be agreed between the Bank of Agriculture and the Rice Millers,’’ he said.

According to the minister, the mills will be located in Kebbi, Zamfara, Benue, Kogi, Bayelsa, Anambra, Kaduna, Ogun, Niger and Bauchi states.

I guess Anambra mill is that of Coscharies rice mill CBN is funding?

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN ) said it will fund the rice milling plant for the 2000 -hectare Coscharis Farm located at Anaku, in Anambra State , to ensure that the product is made available to consumers.
Besides, the apex bank has reassured that it ’s ready to support any entrepreneurial initiative aimed at liberating the country from the stronghold of endless importation of items that can be made locally .
CBN Governor , Godwin Emefiele , who made the remarks during the tour of the rice farm , expressed pleasure for switch to agriculture by a company he described as being in the business of machines, spare parts , and car importation for decades .
“ We started this with him , about two years ago when we granted him a N2 billion Commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme (CACS) . With his own resources , he added to it and that is why he is where he is today .
“ We have naira , and we would lend to people so that we can grow our food and feed our people . Forecast has it that by 2050, Nigeria would have the third largest population in the world . So , we need to begin to prepare for that day. Nobody is going to prepare for us and we must be able to feed our people, ” the governor said.
He reiterated that there is no foreign exchange to import food , especially when we can produce those items in the country.
The Managing Director of the farm , Dr . Cosmas Maduka , however, urged government to urgently respond to entrepreneurial challenges besetting the development and growth of businesses in the country.
Maduka said that beside the foreign exchange challenges, many other issues relating to the growth of private initiatives are left unattended , even at ministry level .
He said that the farm will provide full time employment for about 3000 people, as well as drive ancillary industrial growth in the state when all the phases of the investment are complete.
He said the farm phase of the business currently employs over 250 people , adding that the rice mill and irrigation components of the investment for which the CBN has given approval in principle to finance, will significantly enhance the capacity of the business to create more jobs and boost economic activities

You cannot expect to retain wealth if you don't produce what you consume massively.

Apart from massive effort to be self reliant in AGRICULTURE,
I wish entrepreneurs and SE regional government will focus on three key industries

1. Steel rolling plant or revive Niger Steel

2. Cement producing plant or revive NigerCem

3. Solar Panel and Super Heavy duty batteries to hold charge for weeks.

Our forefathers understood very well the key to development and set up those key companies in combination with massive effort in Agriculture. Little wonder the economy of Eastern Region was the fastest growing in the world then. It should be done again.

Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra on Thursday said he would provide 543 tricycle ambulances to 543 Primary Healthcare Centres in the state.
The governor said this while handing over cheques in support of mission hospitals at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
Obiano said the tricycle ambulances would help improve primary healthcare services, especially during emergencies in the hard-to-reach areas of the state.
“The ambulances will assist in emergencies and this is part of my commitment towards the provision of quality healthcare services in Anambra,’’ he said.
The governor said he would also construct nurses’ quarters in government owned primary healthcare centres.
Obiano said that his administration was working on 63 health Centres in parts of the state, which according to him, are at various stages of completion.
Obiano said provision of infrastructures in health sector was not limited to just physical buildings.
“We will supply medical equipments, functional operational vehicles, conducive and clean environment to enhance efficient and smooth operations generally,” he said.
He said the state government would soon commence payment of allowances to nurses working in remote areas to further motivate them.

UCH Ibadan Gets 2 Ambulances For Geriatric Centre

Prof. Temitope Alonge, Chief Medical Director (CMD), University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Monday inaugurated two new wheel-chair ambulances for use at the Tony Anenih Geriatric Centre, in the hospital.

Inaugurating the ambulances, Alonge said that they would go a long way in complementing care of the aged at the geriatric centre.

“These two ambulances would complement the two tricycles which had been in used in commuting patients from the centre to and from the main gate to ease their transportation.

“They would also be used to pick up patients whose wards could not afford to bring their parents to the clinic at UCH at designated pick-up points in Ibadan,” he said.

The CMD further said that each ambulance, which costs N10 million, has capacity to seat 16 and 10 patients, respectively.

He said both ambulances have hydrolic facilities to lift patients in wheel chairs from the ground into the vehicle.

Alonge was full of appreciation to the donor, Chief Tony Anenih, whom he described as an ‘addicted giver’.

The 30km road project, which includes construction of a dual carriageway and bridge was awarded to RATCON Construction Company Ltd at N29.3 billion. It was proposed to be completed within 18 months. It is now over 50 months.

When the Osun State Government kicked off the construction of the 30km Gbongan-Akoda road, named Omoluabi Motorway, and the Adebisi Akande Trumpet Interchange Bridge in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area in June, 2013, motorists and residents alike jubilated on the prospect of safe travel on the road that leads the state capital to the expressway that links Ibadan, according to information on the official website of Osun State , the road is intended to have four pedestrian bridges, street lights, two layers of asphaltic surface with 60mm and 40mm thickness, reinforced concrete side drain, culverts and ditches, reinforced retaining wall, earthwork landscaping and road marking and signs.
However, contrary to this vision, the road is laced with ditches, huge potholes, failing drainages and bare ground in most parts, thereby making life unbearable for commuters.

WE SUFFER ON THIS ROAD – DRIVERS
Commercial bus drivers at the Gbagi motor park, Ibadan, have deserted the road due to the high rate of car maintenance fees incurred by them.
One of the drivers, who spoke with this reporter said that the Gbongan-Akoda way has been degraded to a ‘road less taken’ as many drivers prefer to abandon their vehicles rather than travel.”I have been plying this road for the past 20 years and I can say that the road has never been as bad as it is in the last four years. The intention to dualise Gbongan -Akoda wouldn’t have been perceived to be such laced with selfish political interest such as campaign to harvest votes, if it had been completed as at when due.
”Now, the work has not even reached half. It harbours risks for the users. For the record, two of our road users from another garage have had fatal accidents on this road. I spend a minimum of four thousand naira on my vehicle every time I visit my mechanic, all of these defied the intention behind this huge project.”
He said the Osun State Government shouldn’t have initiated the project when it wasn’t buoyant enough to complete within stipulated time.

HOW WE MANAGE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD – NURTW
Investigation by this reporter revealed that the government financed the project with an initial mobilisation fee of 15 per cent payment in 2013. Evidently, a component of the project, the Trumpet Bridge, is near its completion.
But the dualisation is yet to fully commence as the path for dualisation has only just been channeled at the Morakinyo route to RATCON yard, with works undertaken by compactors and bulldozers.

LACK OF FUNDS DELAYING US – ENGINEER
A site engineer of RATCON at the Gbongan road, Patrick Ijalaye, told this reporter that the delay should not be blamed on the contractor.
“There are only two factors that cause delay in road construction, either flood as a result of heavy rainfall in its season and unavailability of funds to run project. In this case, it’s the latter,” he said.
“It’s not our fault that work is dragging and halted sometimes. We temporarily put work on hold after expending the fund remitted to us. When there’s enough money to work, we will only have little or none to urgently deal with other contingencies.”
