Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has lost his father. His father, Alhaji Umaru Badami, died on Sunday after a protracted illness.

The Director General of Media and Communications of Government House, Yola, Solomon Kumangar, who made the official announcement in a statement to newsmen Sunday afternoon, said the governor’s father died at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, at 2.30 pm.

Kumangar said the deceased was an ex-service man who retired from the Nigerian Army in 1984. He added that the funeral prayer would take place by 4pm at the Lamido’s Palace, Yola.

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to express her dissatisfaction over the birthday gift she received from her boyfriend.

The lady, Mary Ogechi was left unimpressed after she found a bunch of bananas and a bottle of groundnut wrapped as a present for her birthday.

Taking to Facebook on Sunday, July 28, to react over the gift, she wrote: 'He gave me this as birthday girl. Is this guy not wicked.'

A woman bought meat pie, expecting that it'll be stuffed with meat among other fillings, but what she found inside was totally different from her expectation.

The pie was stuffed with macaroni.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu on Wednesday visited some of the policemen attacked by members of the El-Zakzakky Islamic Movement of Nigeria forcefully invaded the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The IGP, who arrived at the hospital premises by 12:28 pm, was taken around the ward to speak with each of the policemen on admission by the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT, CP Bala Ciroma and the Trauma Surgeon, Dr. Apollo Kanati.

The policemen, who sustained different degrees of injuries, are receiving treatment at the Male ward of the National Hospital.

A 33-year-old driver, Olalekan Hammed, was yesterday remanded in prison custody for allegedly stealing $754 and killing his employer’s wife, Mrs. Jolasun Okusanya (76). Hammed was arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing and murder before Justice Mojisola Dada of an Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos.

The driver was alleged to have stolen N950,000 and $117 from his employer’s bedroom. While attempting to escape, Hammed strangled Jolasun.

Adetayo, who is the daughter of the deceased, said that Hammed, who had worked for the family for over five years, killed her mother after she caught him stealing $754 from their bedroom. She further told the police at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, that the defendant immediately fled the scene by scaling their building fence into a nearby hotel. The defendant is a driver attached to the deceased’s daughter.

Justice Dada thereafter ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, pending the determination of his case. The matter was adjourned till September 10, 2019 for commencement of trial.
