A traffic robber who swallowed her victim’s wedding ring after threatening to kill her, was on Friday, arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command in Oshodi. The ring swallowing suspect, Taofeek Adebayo, 19, along with an accomplice, Toheeb Tijani, 20 were arrested in Oshodi – Oke shortly after dispossessing two ladies occupying a grey Sienna bus of a gold earring and a set of wedding rings. .

The two other suspects, Samson Oluwa, 20 and Michael Amodu Adamu, 22, were arrested in an all-night sting operation in CMS, when robbing a stranded motorist. Taofeek Adebayo in company of his gang had on Friday pleaded with two ladies in a Sienna to assist them with money for food in traffic. The two ladies extended a N100 note to them, which the suspects instantly rejected, saying, ‘eleyi ki I se owo ti wa (this isn’t our money)’.

According to one of the victims: “I told them this is what I have. One of them pulled my left ear and removed my earring. They threatened to waste us if we don’t give them money. In a hurry to leave our car, they forced my friend to surrender her wedding ring. This yellow guy (pointing to Adebayo) took the first one and swallowed it in our presence. His colleague took the other one.”

A Nigerian man has been arrested after he attempted kidnapping a four-year-old boy at Maamobi in the Greater Accra Region. Eyewitnesses who suspected the man was attempting to lure the bot into a waiting vehicle raised alarm. The waiting car, according to reports, had three other people in it already.

The suspect is said to have dashed into a nearby house and changed his clothing but his cover was blown after residents of the house gave him up. The other three occupants in the car sped off. He was assaulted by the mob that arrested him and subsequently handed over to the Kotobabi police station.

Due to the head injuries he sustained, he has been sent to the hospital for treatment. The boy is reportedly safe.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has suspended the license of Daar Communications PLC. The Director General of the NBC, Modibbo Kawu stated this Thursday evening while briefing journalists in Abuja.

He said Daar communications have turned themselves into a bad example of what a broadcast station should be.

AIT and Raypower stations are owned by Daar communications

Recalls that Founder and Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi, had alleged plans by the Federal Government to shut down his stations tonight.

Dokpesi said this while presenting a protest letter to the American High Commission a few minutes ago in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He accused the NBC of acting on Buhari’s orders.

A 24-year-old medical doctor has bitten off the tongue of her would-be rapist when he attacked her as she slept in her hospital’s staff quarters.

The would-be rapist, who is now in the hospital had gained access to the South African hospital posing as a patient, and tried to force his tongue into her mouth, reports IOL News.

According to the spokesperson for the Free State provincial health department, Mondli Mvambi, the doctor was not injured in the incident, which occurred at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein late on Tuesday.

“The alleged perpetrator failed to overpower the doctor and could not execute the rape. During the scuffle, the doctor managed to bite the tongue of the alleged perpetrator who then ran away to National Hospital.”

“He was later arrested and then taken for plastic surgery and was operated on under police guard and he will be handed over to be taken before a court in due course.

“It is by the grace of God that the doctor had the strength to fight back and bite the suspects tongue off. She is currently undergoing medical tests and counselling.”

Munir Sanusi, chief of staff to Muhammadu Sanusi, emir of Kano, says the emirate council is studying the content of the query issued to the monarch.

The office of the secretary to the state government (SSG) had issued a query to Sanusi on behalf of Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state.

The chief of staff confirmed the receipt of the letter, saying the emir was asked to respond within 24 hours.

“We received the query today (Thursday). The state government has demanded the response of His Highness within 24 hours. The council is studying the content,” he told.

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission had recommended the suspension of the emir after probing the emirate.

The agency said it uncovered that N3.4 billion was misspent under Sanusi. The amount was said to have been misappropriated between 2014 and 2017.

The government of Ganduje had earlier broken the emirate into five, stripping Sanusi of the control of 34 local government areas.

Ganduje is believed to be getting back at Sanusi who reportedly worked against his reelection.

The governor had denied the allegation, saying his actions were in the interest of the people.
