Phones › China Mobile, Huawei Build World’s Highest 5G Base Station by Tunex252(op): 10:59am On May 09, 2020 |
China Mobile and Huawei have jointly taken 5G connectivity to a new height upon the completion of the world’s highest 5G base station on the altitude of 6500 at the summit of Mount Everest.Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices.
Together with the launch of the Gigabit optical fibre network at the attitude of 6,500 meters, Huawei enables China Mobile to run its dual Gigabit network on Mount Everest.
Huawei revealed on its website that the 5G network on Mount Everest will provide communication services for the 2020 Mount Everest re-measurement.
The new feat is significant as it marks the 60th anniversary of the first successful arrival at Mount Everest from the northern slope, and the 45th anniversary of China’s first official accurate measurement and announcement of Mount Everest.
The ground-breaking establishment on Mount Everest once again proves that 5G technology connect Mankind and the Earth harmoniously, Huawei insists.
Huawei says it has offered its end-to-end solutions in the construction of China Mobile’s Everest dual Gigabit network, where base stations were built in Mount Everest Base Camp at the attitude of 5,300 meters, the Transition Camp at 5,800 meters, and the Forward Camp at 6,500 meters.
"Huawei’s 5G AAU and SPN technologies are applied at these base stations, where network maintenance and optimization are done by a dozen of network specialists who station 24/7 in regions at altitudes of 5,300 meters and above to ensure smooth network operations,” the company said.
In this project, a network in the “stand alone plus non-stand alone” (SA+NSA) mode connects five 5G base stations, according to the technology giant.
Meanwhile, the 5G fast and huge-capacity connectivity is achieved by Huawei’s Massive MIMO technology supporting lightning speed and large bandwidth.
Huawei’s Massive MIMO is highly reliable with excellent coverage, the company said, adding that: “With its highly flexible three-dimensional narrow beams, the technology works particularly well vertically in Mount Everest.
"At the attitude of 5,300 meters, the 5G download speed exceeded 1.66 Gbps, where the upload speed tops 215 Mbps.”
Meanwhile, the company is convinced that quality and undisrupted networks are guaranteed by it’s Intelligent OptiX Network solutions, with data-thirsty transfer of high-res videos, VR live broadcast and the likes, supported by enterprise gateways with 1Gbps upstream/downstream connections.
"Huawei’s 10G PON OLT and 200G ultra-high-speed transmission platform can intelligently manage data throughput, making it possible families and businesses to enjoy super-fast internet access at such high regions, according to the tech giant.
"With its HoloSens intelligent video surveillance system, Huawei ensures streaming quality with the capabilities of optimisation and fault locating with just one click, keeping the networks always on even at the attitude of 6,500 meters at the summit of Everest,” the company added. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/china-mobile-huawei-build-worlds-highest-5g-base-station.html

The second batch of 253 Nigerians evacuated from the United Kingdom yesterday arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
This came 48 hours after the first batch from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) were brought into the country by Emirates Airlines.
The latest returnees were flown into the country on British Airways flight BA9155.
The Boeing 747 aircraft with registration Number G-CIVO which conveyed them touched down at 1.45pm.
The returnees disembarked from the aircraft after over 30 minutes through a motorised gangway rather than the usual avio-bridge.
After the usual temperature screening by officials of the Port Health Services, they were led into luxurious buses which took them to the isolation centers already prepared for them.
However, some of them were airlifted to Abuja on an Air Peace flight while they would be quarantined in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Officials of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the Lagos State government and other officials of the federal government were on ground to receive them.
The same aircraft which brought them repatriated 215 British nationals from the airport.
Daily Trust on Saturday reports that the British government has been repatriating their citizens from Nigeria in the wake of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/253-nigerians-arrive-from-uk-taken-to-isolation-centers.html

Politics › Fresh Lockdown Possible - Sani Aliyu Warns by Tunex252(op): 7:55am On May 08, 2020 |
*Says 2nd batch of UK returnees arrive today
The Federal Government yesterday again warned of a possible fresh lockdown of the country over the violation of the guidelines on the eased lockdown.
National Coordinator, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, gave the warning in Abuja at the 27th joint national briefing of the PTF.
He said if Nigerians continue to fail to respect and follow all the guidelines, the PTF might review and possibly change them.
“While we’ve allowed the relaxation of the lockdown, we’re putting measures in place to curb COVID-19 spread. Our modelling shows that the positive effects of full compliance with the Eased lockdown will be very similar to the effect of a full lockdown.
“This is why we need everyone to fully comply with all the guidelines issued. Please respect and follow all the guidelines we have instituted. If we continue to see violations of these guidelines, we will be pushed to review and possibly change them,” Aliyu said.
Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said those who tested positive and were in isolation centres had not committed any crime, thus were not being held in prison.
“So, we really want to work together with everyone to ensure that we all achieve our goals. The security in treatment and isolation centres is the same thing like any other established organisation as security is the responsibility of the police working with the state governments in that particular place.
“In certain circumstances, the states have had to increase the security in those facilities. In honesty, we don’t want to ‘securitize’ this response. We want people and organisations to take responsibilities,” Ihekweazu said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said the second batch of Nigerians returning from the United Kingdom were expected to land at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, today and would be taken to Abuja where they would be isolated in a hotel.
According to him, Abuja hotel is the preferable option to isolate the returnees as the hotel rate is better compared to Lagos.
He said arrangements would be made for those meant to be in Lagos to return back to Lagos afterwards.
He said: “It’s a learning curve for all of us. So, we’re very happy that we’ve been able to get the first batch of Nigerians successfully back home. We’ll like to congratulate those passengers and thank them because really they comported themselves admirably and went to the hotels they’re meant to go to for isolation. The conditions are difficult. 14 days in confinement is not easy.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailytrust.com.ng/fresh-lockdown-possible-fg-warns-again.html/amp

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr Imran Khan, on Thursday, had a phone conversation on the Global Initiative on Debt Relief canvassed by leaders of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Abuja. According to the statement, “During an online summit held on Monday, leaders of the 120-nation organization, the largest after the United Nations, had agreed that a debt relief campaign be launched for developing countries to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented health and socioeconomic challenges facing most of them.” Recall that President Buhari had recently urged international financial institutions to assist member states of Non-Aligned Movement, NAM, in cushioning the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spirit of solidarity. President Buhari had said that the assistance will include extending concessional loans, technical support, lowering of tariff on medical equipment and consumables, sharing of expertise in case management, adopting open trade policies, as well as outright debt cancellation. A facebook user by name Archibong Johnson on May 3 got a message from one of his friend Dani Andi whose account was hacked by an unknown scammer in order to extort people’s hard earn money especially from Archibong’s friend list.
This happened when the scammer who impersonated Dani Andi attempted to scammed Mr. Archibong Johnson by first introducing a platform that double’s any amount invested by the investor within 45 minutes to 1 hour of investing.
Archibong professed to be unconscious of the questionable demonstration of the dubious act of extorting his hard earn money by Dani’s impersonator.
As the platitude goes “A guy cannot guy a guy”, Dani’s impersonator end up paying him by sending an MTN recharge card worth N200 + data bundle to him, this happened when Mr. Archibong Johnson told him that he has no credit card on this cell phone which would enable him to make a bank transfer of N30,000 as his investment to the scammer so to receive double fund within 45 minutes.
The scammer was lured by Archibong's state of ignorance but the revise was it.
