Crime › El-rufai’s Son Apologises For Gang Rape Innuendo by Tunex252(op): 10:15am On Apr 18, 2020 |
Bello El-Rufai, the son of Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has tendered an apology over a controversial comment he made on Twitter six days ago in which he threatened to rape the mother of a Twitter user by the name Consigliere with the handle @thanos_zer. Daily Trust reports that what started as a political debate when Bello El-Rufai described US President, Donald Trump as incompetent over his handling of COVID-19 pandemic later degenerated into personal attacks that included ethnic slurs between Bello and a Twitter handler.
Consigliere, had tackled Bello when he insisted that the American President was more competent than Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and Bello’s father, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
However, Bello had reigned insults on Consigliere and sent a private message to him that stated; “Tell your mother I’m passing her to my friends tonight. No Igbo sounds please! Tueh,” Bello further stated that Buhari was completing the Second Niger Bridge in the South-East, a feat which former President Goodluck Jonathan could not attain despite being supported by Igbo.
Many people on Twitter had expressed outrage when Bello’s mother, Hadiza El-Rufai who was tagged in some of the tweets stated that; “All you people talking about @B_ELRUFAI, Don’t @ me. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. All is fair in love and war. My belief: Respect everyone, but take no shit from anyone. I didn’t see any threats of rape. I would never condone that.”
The Kaduna State First Lady later tweeted, “When I posted the tweet below, I assumed it was just the usual Twitter gbas-gbos. Having read the tweets chronologically, I have had conversations with Bello. Never ever should sexual abuse be employed as ammunition in public/private exchanges, no matter the provocation.”
She had tendered an apology saying that having gone through her son’s tweets chronologically, she has had a conversation with him and stressed that she would never condone sexual abuse in any shape or form
She further stated that; “I can see how my tweet may have come across, and I apologise to those who were offended by it. I say once again, that I’d never condone sexual abuse in any shape or form.”
However, six days since the incident, Bello on Friday tendered an apology on Twitter stating that: “A few days ago, I made a comment that was wrong, unbecoming and contrary to the values on which I was raised. I wish to withdraw that statement and apologise to the gentleman concern for the hurtful comment. I also apologise for appearing to attack an entire ethnic group for the misdeed of one person.”
He further stated; “I regret the sexual innuendo in the private message and apologise unreservedly for it. I wish to state very strongly that the statement was made during the heat of the moment and I wish to put the record straight that I do not condone sexual violence; I certainly do not believe that there can be any justification for gender-based crimes.”
He said he has since apologised to his mum and the women in his life but stated that he understand that the intensity around the matter stems partly from his surname adding that his mistake in smearing an ethnic tribe has been replicated by others who have attacked his parents and family due to his action.
Bello stated that is recent conduct had fallen short of the standard of decency and strong values he was raised with and apologised to the general public, adding that he would strive to be better. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/el-rufais-son-apologises-for-gang-rape-innuendo.html

Health › Coronavirus: UNIUYO Lecturer, A Doctor Dies In Akwa Ibom After Showing Symptoms by Tunex252(op): 12:26pm On Apr 17, 2020 |
A physiotherapist and lecturer in the Department of Physiology, University of Uyo (name withheld) has died after showing COVID-19 symptoms. The late doctor, owner of a prominent hospital in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, was said to have died at the Ibom Multi-Specialist Hospital, one of the COVID-19 isolation centres in the state.
It was learnt that the deceased had a history of fever, cough and shortness of breath for a week, and had to be placed on oxygen in his clinic. It was gathered that he was later transferred to the Ibom Multi-Specialist Hospital by the COVID-19 Response Team, where his sample was taken for onward dispatch for COVID-19 testing in the laboratory.
Unfortunately, the deceased died before the test was conducted to ascertain his COVID-19 status. According to a release signed by the State Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr Nsikak Nyoyoko, and made available to newsmen on Friday in Uyo, details of the case management of the deceased are still sketchy.
“Today, we all have a reason to be sad. I was called last night by a colleague who intimated me that one of our colleagues was sick with a week history of fever, cough and shortness of breath which worsened yesterday with his SPO2 as low as 72%, requiring him to be placed on oxygen at his clinic. “I immediately called upon a member of the State COVID-19 Response Team to swing into action and somehow, later last night, our colleague was admitted into ISH and managed by specialists in respiratory medicine.
“With the sympoms elucidated above, a suspicion of COVID-19 was entertained and he had his sample taken today awaiting transportation to the laboratory for COVID-19 testing. “Unfortunately, this revered Colleague of ours died mid afternoon today. Details of the case management are still sketchy as attempts to reach members of the incident Management Committee (IMC) were unsuccessful as they were out for a meeting.
“We have just lost a Friend, Colleague and a brother. Its been a sad day for us at NMA, Akwa Ibom State but be rest assured that the lessons learnt from this tragic event would not pass in vain.
“I want to urge all our members to remain calm, stay safe and please reach out to a colleague or the Association when in need of help,” the statement read. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/medical-doctor-in-akwa-ibom-dies-after-showing-covid-19-symptoms.html

A week before the lockdown, my uncle sent me a used apple laptop and told me to manage it because it runs on window 7. I was quite surprised because I was thinking that how can a MacBook Pro runs on window 7 And aside from that, the laptop whenever I switch it on always display red line on the screen which make icons on the screen looks somehow blur. Could the laptop be fake or is something wrong with it

Business › COVID-19: Make Cash Available To Nigerians, FG Urges Banks by Tunex252(op): 9:49pm On Apr 14, 2020 |
The Federal Government has urged commercial banks across the country to make cash available, especially at ATMs, to ease the burden of the COVID-19 extension lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT. The National Coordinator of the Presidential Taskforce Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, made the plea on Tuesday in Abuja at the 11th joint national briefing of the committee, headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha. According to him, the banks should resume skeletal services as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari. He said: “What is important for us is to ensure that they comply with our advice in terms of reducing mass gatherings, having hand disinfectants at entry points, monitoring of temperature and making sure that they observe physical distancing measures that we advised. “We will be reviewing all the exemptions and protocols that we released, so there might be some changes.” He said that the provisions in the guideline on the COVID-19 lockdown and the exemption protocol still stand concerning banks, media and other listed essential services. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/covid-19-make-cash-available-to-nigerians-fg-urges-banks.html

As a result of this pandemic, the world as we know it has changed. The way we interact with each other, conduct our businesses and trade, travel, educate our children and earn our livelihoods will be different. truly, the world has really changed, I never believed what we watched in movies actually becomes REAL.. For this group, their sustenance depends on their ability to go out. Their livelihoods depend on them mingling with others and about seeking work. But despite these realities we must not change the restrictions. Sir, what I think should be done in this aspect is that u should dispense cash into each person accts and every one will calmly stay at home.... The suffering will be too much spending another two Weeks at home doing nothing |
