A relative of mine has got a Canadian visit visa but hasn't travelled yet. He wants to apply for his masters. If admitted, and given a study permit, would he require another visa to enter Canada? or ...

Of course, black market rate is higher (than Oanda rate). So your dollar becomes short when comparing to pounds. It has its own risk.

Due to this rate issues, I just opened a Dom account and sold the naira in my POF to dollars (black market) which I then deposited into the Dom account (Opened with a different bank tho)

Now, the only transaction in this new Dom account is the $ cash deposit and I don't really think I would have any reason to do any transaction on it... I hardly buy foreign stuffs. Would this be an issue? That's no transaction on the account by the time the statement is matured. Thanks

@OP, Prison visitations are normal and occur regularly. However, it's good you asking these questions so you know what you are doing.

I have visited the prison both as a corper and as a normal citizen visiting a friend/relative. Every prison has their rules and regulations. Written and unwritten.

Some tips I could add:

- I won't advise you to go alone. Go with someone already familiar with that particular prison. It would save you a lot of unnecessary hurdles.

- If possible, go with one of his family member also.

- Go with money. Raw cash. Change an amount into the regular denominations. Enough N200 and N100. Back then, every visitor paid a certain amount to cross the gate...even if we were visiting same person. Some times, they have certain numbers they can allow at a time.

- The one I visited, they had like a prison money keeper, so the money we wan give the person we visited, it would be deposited with this person and recorded. In some prisons, you can give your friend your cash gift directly.

- Foodstuffs and provisions: highly valuable. The one that can last.

- Back then, the cooked food we brought, one of us had to taste every of it (As a check against food poisoning)

- We were given a small tag. Keep very safe. If u loose am, you can't go out o (Coz it would be assumed you have given it to someone inside to use and come out)

- They would ask you a few questions... basically to ascertain your relationship with who you are visiting and reason for visiting.

- We dropped our phones at the gate.

- Note that some of the persons u would be dealing it are actually prisoners-on-duty 😉 (You may not know initially). Even some persons outside the prison could be prisoners. Those ones no dey run again. He could just be washing one of the ogas car or in charge of opening gate. Also, some warders could be on mufti too. So face wetin carry you come. They all would be observing you too and may want to know how buoyant your visit has made the guy. All of them dey hustle too, you know. Some would be begging you too when you are leaving for tips.

- Check yourself very well...make u no go carry exhibit o...both entering and leaving. Most likely sha, u won't get beyond the visiting room. Tho, the visit I did as a corper, we toured round all the wards. People started crying. Some prisoners were begging the girls...dash me anything...even earring dash me...just anything. It was really touching. And a warder got furious when one of us attempted to dash one of them something through the cage. Some were begging to call a certain number that nobody knows he is there etc. Anyways, don't think you would be getting to these areas ... But my point is, focus on who you are visiting.

- Avoid unnecessary handshakes or trying to carry out favours.

- Anything, you ain't sure of while there, better to ask first.

- You won't be given the whole day. Don't get carried away by emotions, otherwise before you know it, them go say time up. So be alert and do your discussion quick so u make best use of your time. Other visitors are waiting. And nobody send anybody there.

- Have a great experience!

UKVI will not confirm your WAEC scores, that is up to your Uni to do so

Should they wish, it will be to confirm your WAEC result is authentic, just a colored copy of your WAEC Certificate will suffice

Make a colored copy/scan of your WAEC document before it gets worse.

They know the necessary information to extra from your certificate for confirmation if needed

Pls, I observe that my WAEC Certificate is defacing... like some prints cleaning. Does it make any sense uploading a WAEC scratch card together with my visa application...incase they need confirm my scores/certificate? This is the only Proof for English I have to use.

If you are using TLS assisted service they can' t scan a laminated document if you are using self service it should be fine

1) Is it possible to remove the lamination? Can I attach a waec scratch card for online verification?

2) Be it self service or assisted service, the documents uploaded, would the original hard copies be submitted to UKVI or they would only work with the uploaded documents?

3) Any major advantage using assisted service over self service? What are the differences or is it the scan quality or do they help you select/choose what to send or what not to?

1) I discover my transcript has a missing letter in the first name. It's not too easy to notice tho and have been using it that way without any issues. What can be done whereby it's difficult to correct the name from the school? As regards visa application.

2) I also realise my WAEC certificate has my actual name written in the order: Surname, MiddleName, First name. As if my middle name is my first name. But in my applications, I go with the format Surname, First name, Middlename if starting with surname. My uni certificate also is First name Middlename Surname. How does this affect anything and what steps can be taken to avoid unfortunate results.

Hi pls how long will it take for me to be disbursed, I did with zenith bank, and I am in adb disbursement review stage. They have debited me 5000, then 3000 then 252 for the form a processing... But the banker told me I should hold one they will mail me when to put money in the account. I entered the disbursement review stage on Friday 14 April

Mail you to put money? Follow up well o. This one u have received the associated charges. Who knows, maybe if the account was already funded, it would have been debited

Just some clarifications please.

1) At visa application stage, is it required for the applicant to submit transcript or just the certificate would do?

2) If you have a missing letter in the spelling of your name in one of your schools certificate e.g Chidima instead of Chidimma, would it pose a serious issue for visa application? Have been using it that way without any issues. What can be done whereby it's difficult to correct the name from the school?

3) What can be done whereby WAEC certificate has name written in the order: Surname, MiddleName, First name... But applicants format of name writing, the middle name used in the waec certificate is actually the first name and first name used in the certificate is actually the middle name. How does this affect anything and what steps can be taken to avoid unfortunate results.
