Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko said yesterday that President-elect Muhammadu Buhari will unfold the All Progressives Congress (APC) master plan on job creation and social security-related issues at his inauguration on May 29. Wamakko spoke while addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal, headquarters of Tambuwal Local Government Area of the state. He said the master plan would also address the security concerns in the country. The governor, who is also a senator-elect, said the President-elect would ensure good governance through the implementation of people-oriented programmes designed to meet the expectations and yearnings of Nigerians. He said the Buhari presidency would restore the confidence of Nigerians in governance through the implementation of programmes that would enhance the socio-economic and political development of the country. “We as progressives are in the system to bring about a responsible change in all aspects of governance, “ he said. Wamakko said that Nigeria as a nation was blessed with abundant natural and human resources necessary for effective economic growth and development. He expressed confidence that Nigeria under Gen. Buhari would achieve greatness and prosperity. Wamakko called on the people to come out en-masse to cast their votes for all APC candidates in Saturday’s elections. He praised APC supporters for defending their votes during the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections and urged them to do the same in the last round of the elections. Wamakko said that the APC-led administration would continue to initiate policies and programmes aimed at moving the state forward. “We have done a lot in the areas of health care delivery, education, roads construction, agriculture, job creation, among others,” he said, adding that the incoming administration would continue with the laudable programmes. He also called on party supporters to shun violence and provocation in order to ensure peaceful polls. Port Harcourt – Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Chief Chibudum Nwuche has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC. Nwuche confirmed the development to the Vanguard in a telephone interview , saying he had to leave the party because the place is corrupt and had shortchanged him several times. Continuing, he said his political friends, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Naaba, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had all moved over to the APC from the PDP. It would be recalled that Nwuche alleged electoral fraud in the senatorial primaries of the PDP when he lost the election for the Rivers West Senatorial district. According him, there was no election. With exit from the PDP, Nwuche is expected to battle with former governor Peter Odili over the political so of Orashi region in the state where they both hail from. Odili is firmly in the PDP and supporting Chief Nyesom Wike of the PDP for the governorship seat. Nwuche has called on his supporters to vote for Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the APC Cc: Lalasticlala Source:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/breaking-news-former-deputy-speaker-chibudum-nwuche-dumps-pdp-for-apc/ |
Many factors have shaped the politics of Lagos such that it is hard to determine where the pendulum of victory will swing tomorrow. Since 1999, Lagos state has remained a political enclave of the opposition; from the Alliance for Democracy (AD) to Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now All Progressives Congress (APC) as opposed to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the federal level. Ahead of Saturday’s election, there are permutations that the state may be ruled by the ruling party at the centre as from May 29, 2015, if APC wins the governorship election. Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), APC’s presidential candidate won the penultimate Saturday’s presidential polls. The closeness of the polls shows that Lagos State is for the first time experiencing its closest political battle since 1999. The PDP won a record six seats in the House of Representatives from the state two weeks ago. The APC lost the Federal Constituencies in Amuwo-Odofin, Ojo, Oshodi/Isolo, Surulere I and Ajeromi/Ifelodun to the PDP while Accord party, an unknown party in Lagos, trounced the APC in Mushin. The greatest shocker was the emergence and victory of two Igbo candidates namely: Mrs. Rita Orji (Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency) and Mr. Tony Nwulu (Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency both of which are members of the PDP. Between 1999 and now, factors that seem to have changed the political landscape of Lagos include the population figure which has moved from about nine million in 1999 to 18 million in 2015. Lagos is considered to be a cosmopolitan city which consists of several ethnic nationalities most of who now see Lagos as their home and want their presence felt since they live and contribute their quota to the development of the state. Y the hate on Igbos, the oba was wrong, yet most NLs' support this unguarded statements from the traditional ruler of lagos. Sentimental judgment should not be the case in this case as Igbos have the right to perform their civic responsibility any where in this country as every other tribe perform theirs as they so feel in other parts of the country...well I find it difficult to believe the Oba said that. We are watch. #VoteNotFight |
