Celebrities / Rescued Nigerian Who Survived 3 Days Under Water Vows Never To Return by tutubranch(f): 10:09am On Dec 12, 2013
Nigerian Sailor, Harrison Odjegba Okene survived three days in a small air pocket inside an overturned tugboat at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. He was rescued at the last moment by a diver – but the lucky 29-year-old says he will not be tempting fate again. The 29-year-old who has now taken a job as a cook off-shore, still has nightmares and vows to never return to the sea again

Harrison, who was rescued from a capsized tugboat in May after nearly three days, said he had promised God that if he survives the ordeal, he will never go back in the sea. He was the only survivor in a crew of 12 when the boat capsized in May. In addition with the guilt of being the only survivor, some Nigerians believe he saved himself through black magic. What do we call this, Juju or Luck?

Celebrities / How Exposing His Ex Unclad Pictures Could Have Landed Eme's Skales In Jail by tutubranch(f): 3:53pm On Nov 13, 2013
The controversy involving Skales, an R &B artist signed with Nigeria’s E.M.E. Records exposing naked pictures of his ex-girlfriend has gone viral online in the past hours and as explained by Ms. Uduak Oduok who is an Attorney and the also publisher of African music law, leaking nude photos of your ex is a misdemeanor crime punishable by six months to one year in jail and/or a fine in California, USA - E.M.E appears to have a New York presence, at least administratively.

More pictures, tweets and messages after the cut

Without trying to judge, am appalled by the fact that as a handsome talented young man (let even not mention the obvious Skales is signed to one of the biggest record labels which boasts of some of Nigeria's biggest artistes and so attracted some some of the finest beauties) he portrays emotional weakness, despicable conduct and immaturity by exposing the unclad pictures of someone you claimed you once loved because things went awry between two of you!

For those who were not familiar with what happened, the issue stated with tweets between Skales, his ex-girlfriend and her friends. He referred to her as a Namibian h*e and of course her friends did not take kindly to that, they attacked him. Last night, Skales thinking he has a point to prove, sent the alleged inbox tweets below to his ex threatening to expose her nude photos. He further allegedly created a fake account and followed through with tweeting her nude photos. He then had a change of heart and sent her further tweets apologizing about it. Needless to say, everything went viral and here we are.

1. Forever tainted himself as an emotionally weak man. What guy in his right mind does something like this to an ex?

2. What woman will want to date you, especially given you are a rising celebrity, if it is known that you can take such criminal and despicable acts like this towards your ex? Your girlfriend can’t be free to be nude with you because now she has to fear that if she breaks up with you, you will have her nude photos on twitter?

3. For your personal branding, your fan base is predominantly women, at least for now. Do you really think any young woman will feel good hearing your songs and lyrics knowing that you can engage in extreme acts like this when you don’t have it your way in the love department?

4. Where Banky W and Segun Demuren and other E.M.E. executives are. Characters do not wait till their label mates get their shine on. Niyola just drop her new music video ‘Toh Bad’ within the last forty eight (48) hours?

As Record label owners, it is not enough to sign talents. Those talents represent your money. If they are mentally and emotionally off, to the point where they engage in such actions like Skales, it not only affects them but affects you and ultimately your bottom line

If the mess happened in California, we will be talking criminal arrest and prosecution of Skales right now. The evidence is on twitter, Twitter, a California company, can easily be subpoenaed to produce the tweets, even though Skales deleted the tweets.

It indeed has to be the most emotionally very distressing experience for any young woman or man to have his/her nude photos he/she took with an ex revealed to the world just because he/she ended a relationship with that ex.

Family / REVEALED: 8 Immediate Effect Fast Foods Have On Children by tutubranch(f): 4:34pm On Nov 08, 2013
Kids master the art of whining perfectly even without a teacher being present. They would shout, "Please! Mum! Please! Please! Please! I really want one!”. If constant whining has caused you to swerve into a drive-through to buy your kids fast foods, you’re not alone. So, the next time you’re thinking about buying dinner on the go, bear in mind the impact it will have on your kids before the day is over.

Here are some of the immediate effects fast food has on children, read on.

Junk Food Encourages Your Child To Eat More

Chilldren have a liking for fats, sugar and salt as it appeals to their primordial tastes; these
three elements in fast food draw kids like a magnet. This is scientifically explained in the words of Rashi Chowdhary (Dubai-based nutritionist), “From an evolutionary point of view, humans are hard-wired to crave high-calorie food as a survival mechanism, so each time we see, smell or eat junk food, many chemicals and neurotransmitters are released in our body.

Junk Food Will Damage Arteries Immediately

Excess fat, sugar and salt have never been so healthy for intake. Experts have known for years that long-term consumption of junk food clogs arteries, but recently they’ve recognised that this damage begins the same day. A study published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology indicates that damage to the arteries occurs almost immediately after just one – that’s right, one – junk food meal.

Junk Food Will Cause School Work To Suffer

Diet has a significant effect on children’s study habits. Junk food and foods with high-sugar content deplete energy levels and the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time. A kid who feeds on junk would definitely feel hungry within a short period of time. Dietician, Chirine Watfa, says an hungry kid would definitely be left behind in schoolwork as his concentration will be affected and then his overall performance in school. In a study published in Child: Care, Health and Development (a European public health journal), researchers analysed the fast-food consumption and test scores in maths and reading of 12,000 fifth-graders. They found that children who ate fast food four to six times within a given week tested significantly lower in maths and reading compared with children who did not.

Junk Food Will Make Your Kid Depressed

Junk food possesses high oxidant which increases the risk of depression but eating foods rich in antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats, such as cold-water fish and nuts, leads to positive energy and moods – both of which derive from positive brain function. A diet high in fast food lacks these nutritional benefits, increasing the risk of depression.

Junk Food Will Put Your Child Off Healthy Food

The artificial taste of junk food is thought to be addictive and children used to spicy junk food may have trouble adjusting their palates to relatively blander healthy foods.

“Another problem is that junk food tends to replace other, more nutritious, foods,” says Watfa. “When children are snacking on chips and cookies, they’re usually not having enough fruits and vegetables, which will decrease their vitamin C and fibre intakes.”

Junk Food Will Cause Constipation

The less fibre children consume, the more likely they are to develop constipation, which can cause abdominal pain and discomfort. Fast food typically lacks fibre but few people are aware.

Junk Food Will Make Them Irritable

“The high content of sugar in junk food causes fluctuations in children’s blood glucose levels,” says Chowdhary. “This makes them edgy, sleepy and irritable throughout the day and leaves them with no motivation to be active.”

Junk Food Will Ruin Bedtime

Having sugary drinks or fruit juice with dinner even twice a week can affect children’s sleep and wake-up cycle. The caffeine from sodas acts as a stimulant, keeping them awake longer and negatively affects their metabolism. “Studies have shown that moderate to high caffeine consumers [100 to 300mg of caffeine] have more disturbed and more interrupted sleep than low- or no-caffeine consumers,”

Politics / Photo Of Civilian Being Punished By Soldiers For Crossing Ikorudu Road by tutubranch(f): 2:45pm On Nov 04, 2013
This may look funny but when you are at the receiving end of this kind of punishment by menacing looking "unknown Soldiers" - quoting Fela Kuti - then you know it is serious issue

The man was reported punished this morning by soldiers on Ikorodu road for crossing the express road instead of using the flyover bridge.

Agreed that the man ought to have used the bridge instead of crossing the road but do you agree with punishment meted to the 'civilian' by the soldier in this democratic dispensation?

Romance / Guys Don't Like Dating 'born-Again’ Ladies: Why by tutubranch(f): 12:50pm On Nov 01, 2013
I was talking to a male friend about his single status and the moment I mentioned to him to get a lady from church to which he replied, “Church girls don't think past the front and back pages of their bible, they hardly follow what's in it, or they twist the who things inside the bible upside down”

I am posting this because of some sisters who give Christianity a bad name whether consciously or unconsciously. This is not to condemn or criticize anyone (before some take it personal instead of analyzing the message). Seem a lot of ‘born again’ Christian sisters who are not married when they are almost at menopause age tend to make people ask, “Which kain God she dey serve sef” or, “Why she no marry Jesus and Get ‘holy Belle’ like Mary mother of Jesus did” – not that one’s life should be shaped by what people say or think

* Born Again Ladies Have Serious Attitude Problem: To them, 'church and their bible are their ticket to marriage'. They are only concerned about not being slept with than their attitude. Bluntly put, non-church girls seem ‘sweeter’ in character in comparison. Even if they are chopping your money, you won't even feel it until when it's over (not encouraging chopping the money babes ooo). People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude. Nothing can stop the (wo)man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the (wo)man with the wrong mental attitude.

* Oh God, Their mode of Dressing Is Horrible! We know you are trying to be modest, or you don't wear trousers or you have to cover your hair, but please are there no better skirts in the market than the ones your mum who is twice your size dashed you? Then the ones that manage to do 'make up' just blow it out of proportion. What's with heavily black lined lips? And odd color eye shadows? Even Sarah in the bible was fair to look upon, Are you Jezebel or Sarah?

* They Do Not Know How To Carry On Intelligent Conversations Outside The Bible And Church: How can you engage in intelligent conversation when you try to block away all socially relevant information apart from bible passages and your books? When you ask, do you own a Blackberry? She replies 'No!! You ask why? She replies, ‘my pastor said it’s the devil's tool to destroy mankind”. Tell your pastor he shouldn't put his programs on the TV or Radio or expect us to download any of his messages with our Blackberry' #Lobatan!

* Born Again Ladies Are Easy To Bed, And Not Even Daring! You think it’s untrue, ask some of the ‘player’ guys who have had experiences in this regard. It takes only Mr. Biggs and Chicken Republic, then follow them to their church twice and three times, cram something their Pastor has said, she'll follow you home, put on some cool love songs, and gbam, it’s on! The non-church girls will even push, stretch, relentless ‘toasted’ and twist a guy to the limit so hard, the guy will want to keep seeing her and wanting to do more without even sleeping with her, well at first. A guy wants an intelligent, daring wife, though she has to be submissive but church girls don't even put up that challenge, most of them though

*They Can So Backbite: A lot of Christian sisters engage in running down other church meters and even Christian brother. Usually monitoring and assessing other’s morality, Christian lives and so on and gossiping among themselves without first checking the specks in their own eyes; “Brother John only has one trouser with rat-chopped’ shoes”, “Sister Mary thinks she is too fine and dress to seduce men”.

* Born Again Ladies Always Wait For The God In Their Pastor To Find Their Husband For Them: I still don't understand how a Christian believer would believe God is omnipresent, if the only God she believes in is in her pastor, doesn't she have God? So many Christian sisters are toooo busy with God's work and so would trust their pastors to find husbands for them with poor dress sense and lack of decent social interaction then when they are in their late 30s or 40s, they will be all up over you, even trying to date young guys, and tell you Age is not a barrier in the bible, what happened to God's work, you were trying to do.

* Most Live in A Fairytale: They just want everything to work how and when they want it to. I am not referring to lack of having faith and all but when just set some unrealistic standards that they themselves fall short of. For example, wanting a rich man for husband is not a bad dream but when brother Tony who is obviously a struggling but hard working and ambitious young man come along and you ‘reject poverty’ offer, then you better wait for President Jonathan to divorce his Patience Dame

As Christian ladies, have we become so religious that we have lost character? I have met some born again Christian sisters who don’t carry the toga of born again about, that you would find it so hard to believe they are born again in the first place (you know people have a pre-defined mindset of how born again sister look and behave and will be surprised that they are virgins till their wedding nights)

It's a thing of grace, pride and greatness be born again, speaking in tongue, spirit filled and baptised but socially on point!

Fashion / Ladies, Would You Rock This Hairstyle? by tutubranch(f): 9:26am On Oct 31, 2013
Ehehehehehe! Very funny indeed as someone mentioned that this is an hairstyle from planet Pluto

I wonder if it is due to diminishing hair on her head or to avoid 'wasting' money to make expensive hairstyles, or she is a new 'Sango' worshipper or even avoiding getting expensive Brazilian hair. I sure try to figure out what she was thinking

So guys, if your lady or sister adorn this hairstyle, would you term her as a new fashionista?

Food / Strange Food Combinations Some Nigerians Eat by tutubranch(f): 9:46am On Oct 26, 2013
When it comes to food, trust me some Nigerians do know how to combine but some food combinations marvel me and i begin to wonder how some enjoy eating such combinations. Some strange combinations i have come across include the following (if you have been a student of tertiary institutions, you would also agree with some):-

1. Rice and Yam with Okro Soup: Rice is highly rich in carbohydrates so also is yam and adding the 'draw' feel of Okra; known in many English-speaking countries as 'lady's fingers' is a "balanced diet" combination for those who eat such. Please don't puke if the mere picturing this food combination irritate you

2.Indomie and yam: Just pass by most mallam food sellers at night especially in parts of Lagos and you see some northern and Niger folks eating this combination after a tedious work day. Like P-sqaure would say, 'haba habactically!'

3. Ewedu, Egusi, Efo Riro, Bitterleaf Soup Combination: I know some may argue this but it's definitely true. Some even do worse combination and you wonder how they wouldn't have stomach 'earthquake or diarrhea.

4. Pounded Yam/Amala/Eba/Fufu with fried egg: We are used to eating meat, fish or other protein with these staple food but in the absence of the mentioned protein, some would eat fried egg to 'balance it'. At least, protein na protein

5. Concotion rice with Garri: This usually is the practice in students' campuses - especially during exams time when 'owu don blow person' - during which money and food are scarce and everyone seem to be in examination mood. During this period, most are even thankful for something to eat!

6. Garri and maltina: Since Garri (processed cassava flour) which is almost entirely carbohydrate, it is then good to step it down with very rich multivitamin drink, isnt it?

7. Bread and Plantain: Since people eat hot-dog, preparing and eating customized African hot-dog is not bad after all!

Kindly share yours too

Foreign Affairs / Photos As Students In Spain Openly Go On Strike With Protest by tutubranch(f): 10:24am On Oct 24, 2013
Students got the ball rolling with a two-day classroom walkout with teachers and parents joining in Spain will join strike action in protest at education cutbacks and reforms and demand that austerity measures, that have seen the number of classroom teachers shrink, be reversed singing, "We are the revolution"

More pictures after the cut

Student unions say assistance for students from low income backgrounds has been reduced while tuition fees have been hiked.

“More than three million young people have showed with this fundamentally democratic action that they won’t allow the Popular Party’s government to destroy public education,” said Tohil Delgado from del Sindicato de Estudiantes.

OPINION:

The ASUU strike in Nigeria has entered the fourth month (4 months and not days or weeks) with students groaning and suffering at home and parents and guardians helpless with the situation.

The lecturers are 'demanding' for better wages, oh i forgot to add, 'better academic infrastructure'. But who are the ones that bear the brunt of this re-occurring mess? Of course the students

Questions that really demand answers: Are the students who are termed the future of this great country not united to do a peaceful protest (emphasis on peaceful!) in major states of Nigeria and also on daily basis march to National, state assemblies? Are student proving Fela right by be 'suffering and smiling' when some 'fighting elephants' are holding our future at stake? What is the essence of the students unions or they are now totally irrelevant unlike the days of Gani Fawehinmi and others during their student days?

Or is that the lecturers, most of whom are fighting for their pockets (after making massive money from handouts, paid-to pass and other illegal structures a lot engage in). Wether they teach or not, strike or no strike, they will collect their monthly salaries. Truth must be told, even the lecturers that seem to be fighting for their so called students either have some of their children attending various private universities or ones outside the shores of this country. Those who cant, grudging allow their children to attend public tertiary institutions. Here, truth must be told as Nigerian students have been going through hell in the hands of these so called lecturers - you dont believe that, just create a platform for students especially female students whose lives, future and mental well-being have been negatively affected or destroyed by a lot of lecturers

Or is that we are cursed by bad leaders, most of whom don't understand the value of education but instead believe that the more the education doom among the youths, the more the political tools they have to achieve their political agenda (lagos urchins is an obvious example

Before some would say, @tutubranch why not take the lead, i would simply respond, it's take collective efforts!

Guess it is time for ASUU to also shift ground with GEJ to save the students from this academic agony

Health / FOR MEN: Crucial Ways To Protect Your Sperm by tutubranch(f): 10:36am On Oct 17, 2013
The sperm refers to the male reproductive cells. Sperm cells cannot divide and have a limited life span, but after fusion with egg cells during fertilization, In mammals, sperm develops in the testicles and is released from the penis.

As explained by a medical professional, the following are things to avoid in order to protect the sperm in men.

1. Do not have unprotected sex. Sexually-transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhoea and Chlamydia, can damage the sperm-producing cells that block the tubes carrying sperm from the testis to the penis.

2. Avoid pesticides that control pests in the garden and on the farm. Such chemicals can damage the sperm-reproducing organs.

3. Avoid wearing tight pants and trousers, as the heat generated can cause low sperm count.

4. Minimise your consumption of alcohol as drinking to excess can cause low sperm count and also reduce libido, causing you to have a low sex drive.

5. Do not smoke, as cigarette smoking can damage the testis and lower sperm count, lower the ability of sperm to move and lower the lifespan of the sperm.

6. Do not eat too much saturated fat, as they reduce the efficiency of the hormones and enzymes that help in the sperm production process.

7. Do not eat food or supplements with soya beans, as soya beans convert to the female hormone oestrogen, which tends to neutralise the male hormone testosterone, which is needed for men to reproduce sperm.

8. Minimise your intake of refined carbohydrate like white flour, white bread and white rice, as they reduce the efficiency of the hormones and enzymes that help in the sperm reproduction process. Instead, eat more of the unrefined carbohydrate like brown rice, wheat bread and oats.

9. Avoid insecticides sprayed to kill mosquito. Such chemicals can damage the sperm- reproducing organs. Therefore, if you must spray your room against mosquitoes, allow at least one hour before going back to the room.

10. Avoid exposure to lead fumes generated in the manufacture of small cell batteries and in bullets. Such fumes can reduce sperm count through their negative effects on the hormones and the testis.

11. Minimise exposure to e-rays, as the sperm germ cells are very easily damaged by the gamma rays.

12. Minimise exposure to radiation, as the sperm germ cells are very easily damaged by radiation.

13. Avoid fumes generated by welders and iron smelters, as their heat can affect sperm production and lead to low sperm count.

14. Avoid exposure to accumulated old newsprints for example old punch, guardian newspapers, as the carbon can lead to low sperm count.

15. Avoid children with mumps as having mumps in childhood can cause irreversible damage to the testis. Therefore, never allow a male to visit other children that have mumps.

16. Avoid being constipated, as this can obstruct blood flow to the testis. Therefore, eat more dietary fibres.

17. Do not eat a poor diet, as this affect the quality of the sperm. Instead, eat more whole grains, vegetables and fruits.

18. Do not take artificial sweeteners like nutrasweet, candarell and sweetex, as they reduce sperm count.
19. Avoid excessive consumption of raw lemon, as this may inhibit the enzymes responsible for sperm production and libido.

20. Do seek immediate medical help if one or both of the testes are un-descended from the abdominal cavity into the scrotal sac, as this can significantly reduce sperm production.

21. Do not sit for long periods of time in one position if you are a long distance driver, drive a small sport car, or a chief executive having many board meetings in leather chairs, as this can increase the temperature around the scrotum which can reduce sperm count.

22. Avoid traumatic injury around the testes, as this can damage the sperm-producing cells.
23. Avoid bicycling, as this can damage the tube carrying the sperm.
26. Avoid stress, as this can decrease the sperm count and lead to production of abnormal sperms.
24. Avoid obesity,s as this can reduce blood flow to the testes, making the sperm production process more difficult and significantly reduce libido.
25. Avoid substance abuse like cocaine or heavy marijuana use, as this can lead to low sperm count and deformed sperms.
26. Avoid poor nutrition, as this affects the quality of the sperm.
27. Do not have children at a late age, as the quality of the sperm decreases with age, leading to more difficult conception and greater possibility of having children with deformities.

Nairaland / General / Transformation Of A Suicidal Obese Man To 'Mr Muscle' (PHOTOS by tutubranch(f): 9:18am On Oct 12, 2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmzgNGMeCPA

How incredible is the true story of this man who was so close to committing suicide due to overweight (you will agree with me that white people are easily depressed to commit suicide compared to our African people who will daily live with the word, 'he go better')

The transformation is dramatic for this young man who is now nicknamed Mr Muscles and also a renowned personal trainer. He has also found a beautiful blonde girlfriend, Morgan, who he has been dating for about a year and a half.

In describing the his overweight experience, he said: 'By the age of 21, I weighed 22 stone. I used to go out but, one night, a girl came up to me and asked me to leave the bar I was in. I asked why and she told me I was making her and her friends feel sick. 'I'd also end up eating sandwiches or about four slices of white bread late at night as the drinking made me hungry.'

Though Mike previously had several jobs including car valeting and as a supermarket security guard his increasing weight soon meant he was unable to work and he became increasingly isolated

Hiding from the world in his bedroom, Mike would order alcohol online and have it delivered to his home, wasting his days watching television and browsing the internet.

'I live at home and I'd generally have cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and then whatever my mum cooked for dinner.
'The weight gain came from the alcohol. I would drink an entire bottle of whisky and about six cans of lager every night.

'If I ran out of whisky I could drink up to 18 cans of lager, so I was consuming about 3,000 calories in alcohol every day.

Mike says that losing weight has given him a life and is urging others not to get into the same situation he found himself in

Mike decided to join a gym to tone up properly - and enjoyed working out so much he strove to make it his career.
Demonstrating his new found body confidence Mike has shared his progress on his Facebook page, posting a series of pictures of himself throughout his dramatic weight loss alongside the caption ‘Trained my f****** ass off!’.

In response to the highly complimentary comments Mike says that he feels he still has some way to go in honing his physique.
‘Well done doesn't seem to cut it. One hell of an accomplishment,’ one message read. Mike responded: ‘Thanks everyone, really appreciate the kind words.

‘Have a long way to go yet, gotta (sic) pack on more muscle to fill that skin. Just gonna (sic) take time and effort. Need my head in the right place to finish the fight.’
Mike also has posted images of his new healthy lifestyle with pictures of high-protein snacks and bread as well as himself hard at work in the gym.

'I try and consume about 250g of protein a day now and eat only what you would describe as clean food,' Mike told MailOnline.
'I do treat myself to the occasional take away and a couple of beers at the weekends but I never get drunk anymore.' he says.

He said: 'One night, while listening to Guns N’ Roses, I thought to myself, "What kind of a life is this?"
'I had terrible pains but I was too scared to go to the gym and do anything about my weight, as people pointed and laughed at me in the street.
'
'I had wasted everything and lost everything and the only person who could do something about it was me,' he said.

Mike ordered a cross-trainer on the internet, set it up in his room and set to work and he gradually built up his stamina to three one-hour sessions a day and stopped drinking altogether.

Mike said: 'Every session on the cross-trainer ended up with me taking my XXXXL dripping wet T-shirt off and just looking down at my belly crying. But, each time, I picked myself up and carried on.'

It took 18 months for Mike, now 31, to lose 18 stone. But he was still left with a major problem – his loose skin.

'I felt just as disgusting as I did when I weighed 33 stone. I needed to do something, and I ended up paying for skin on my stomach and upper arms to be removed.'

'Losing weight has not only given me a new lease of life, it has actually given me a life,' he said.

Fashion / Models Wear Milk-Created Clothes by tutubranch(f): 2:04pm On Oct 11, 2013
Some people are simply ingenious when it comes to creating amazing stuffs that wow!

A London-based photographer Jaroslav Wieczorkiewicz took hundreds of photos of each pose, pouring real milk over women (yes, drinkable liquid milk instead of dresses) and created these fantastic images by combining the pictures.

More incredible images after the cut

These unusual but amazing photos show pin-up girls wearing dresses made of MILK by using high speed photography to capture the drink being poured over models.

The project aims at creating a calendar inspired by the popular pin-ups of the 40s and 50s - but with milk instead of clothes.

"I am happy with the results as you never know if the liquid is actually going to work like you want."

How he gets to capture the milk on these models bringing out fantastic images still 'wow' me

Celebrities / Photo Of Lady Who CLAIMS To Be The Daughter Of Legendary Sunny Okosun (EXCLUSIVE by tutubranch(f): 8:25am On Oct 10, 2013
We are used to people personifying others, especially celebrities on social media however, this seems to be what i will term 'in-reality-personification'

This lady, Ethel Okosun a former Miss Earth, 2005 is the Nigerian Project Director for the Exquisite Face Of The World pageant (she granted an interview with http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/i-always-feel-encouraged-listening-to-my-fathers-music-ethel-okosuns-daughter newspaper) which will hold on the 13th of November but claims to be daughter of late musician, Sunny Okosun

However two legitimate daughters of Mr Sunny Okosun, Adesua Okosun (she posted this declaration of her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/adesua.okosun) and Sidney Okosun have come out to declare that Ethel Okosun was and will never be the daughter of their father!

According to them, she is an imposter who is using their father's name to get goodwill from the public

Below is the public letter they sent to Vanguard Newspaper to void the claim of Ethel

To Vanguard Newspapers.Attention: Ben Njoku

ETHEL IS NOT OKOSUNS’ DAUGHTER. SHE IS A FRAUD”Re: “I always feel encouraged listening to my father’s music – Ethel, Okosun’s daughter - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/i-always-feel-encouraged-listening-to-my-fathers-music-ethel-okosuns-daughter”.
Our attention was drawn to the online story which http we herein submit, whereby one Ms. Ethel claimed to be the daughter of our late patriarch and father, Sonny Okosuns.

We wish to state categorically that Ms. Ethel IS NOT our sibling. She is not the daughter of our father. Our father had four children: Sidney Okosuns, Michael Okosuns, Adesuwa Okosuns and Ebony Okosuns. This is not the first time Ms. Ethel has fraudulently used our late father’s image and likeness as “name dropping” to achieve whatever affluence she seeks. She is a rogue. She needs to stop identifying herself as the daughter of the Ozziddi great musician.

Years ago, Ms. Ethel as a teenager wondered into our Yaya Abatan home. Our parents ran a liberal attitude home, welcoming visitors and strangers to our sprawling Ogba Estate. Thus, our home was always busy with people from all walks of life. Ms. Ethel walked into our home, pleaded with my dad that she wanted to sing and had no other place to live in Lagos. My parents welcome her to our compound, offered her unconditional food, shelter and love. She never left for several years. The generosity and kindness of providing her food and shelter does not give her automatic birth right to the Okosuns.

In these days of scientific proof, we demand that Ms. Ethel submit to a DNA test to prove us otherwise. The Okosuns family would pay for any DNA that would end this fraudulent identity theft. Ms. Ethel is a fraud. MS ETHEL IS NOT OKOSUNS DAUGHTER.

We would appreciate if you give this the same prominence you privileged Ms. Ethel’s fake story. Thanks for the privilege to write you.Sincerely,Sidney Ehimare OkosunsFor the Okosuns familyBaltimore, MD

Am still communicating with the legitimate daughters of late Sunny okosun - who was a music legend here in Nigeria and Africa before his death -

Romance / REVEALED: 5 Reasons Why Women Dump Men by tutubranch(f): 6:02pm On Oct 02, 2013
How would you define the spice of a good relationship? For me, I'll say patience, love and care and a great deal of these three from both the man and lady involved. Most relationships go sour as soon as a party becomes impatient, bossy or uncaring, thereby, bringing a sad end to a love story once sweet. Here are five reasons why women dump men. Ladies can I have a witness!?

1. Control Freak 'bosy'

This is where the issue of 'slavery' comes in as women being emotional by nature, want to enjoy bliss in our relationships. A man being in control can make any responsible woman feel secured, but when becomes a 'jim-iyke-in-the-movie' kinda attitude, it ends up hurting her feelings, ego and even their self-esteem. Men get dumped the moment their partner see them as slave masters. Guys, beware!

2. Rules and regulations

The last thing anyone wants in their relationship is to feel like been in a bondage. Maybe by the virtue of their make naturally, some men set rules and regulations for their partners to abide by. This brings about revolt in relationships and even brings the woman to the point where she questions the love her man professes. Pushing her to the point of frustration by your highhanded rules will only help you end up without her. Beware.

3. Forever Busy

Weaker vessels, so we are called. Women are attention-seekers and you have to give it to them in large doses, else you make her feel less loved. As soon as a woman starts to feel un-needed and she taste some form of attention from another guy who may even 'worship' her, 'fiam' she is gone like a wind!

4. Irresponsibility

It causes an ache in the heart of the woman when she is overladen with duties while her man roams around without offering an helping hand nor kind sweet words, to say the least. This is one of the many reasons why women get carried away with men outside their relationships who are all sweet and tender. Taking responsibility of her well being in terms of finance, health and emotions will help you both stay happy but if you act otherwise, don't be mad that she left you for prince-charming.

5. Dependable

Are you worth depending on as a man? if yes, great! But if not, then you have a long way to go. No woman spends much time with an unreliable or undependable men. Women have dumped a lot of men for this reason and this will still happen in future, so watch out.Try not to get dumped.

Romance / ROMANCE: 9 Foodsto Avoid On A First Date by tutubranch(f): 1:55pm On Sep 28, 2013
A first date is all about making impressions…and a lot is at stake. Your date will most likely be on the look out for all the signs of good etiquette, but some foods leave you too stressed up, trying to observe table manners, whether outdoor or indoor. So, do yourself a favour and wait till the wedding anniversary before you eat them. Generally, avoid these mood-killing first date foods:

Beans and what have you Anything that has the capacity to make you pollute the air should be avoided. Would the beans have digested to that stage by then? Well, we never can tell.

Sugar Cane: Yes, nice to suck the juice from sugar cane…but after this, I wonder the sort of mechanism with which you’d remove the fibre from your mouth…!

Orange: Sucking up orange gives your mouth a funny sort of twist…you know what I mean…

Sphaghetti and meat balls: You’re likely to end up with a meat ball on your skirt!

Garlic: Talk about bad breath…

Messy Burger: Some burgers are manageable. But if any burger would require you to open up your mouth widely in order to cover it’s circumference for a bite, then it’s not worth it. Not to talk of the fact that it would leave a few behind…on your lips, shirt and dress!
Suicide chicken wings: Spicy foods just don’t go down well with any first date…saucy napkins, saucy fingers, breaking bones etc.

Corn on the cob: Very healthy…but the kernels will inevitably get stuck between your teeth. Don’t dare flash a smile in your date’s direction after devouring a cob!

Poorly cooked meat: You may not know the meat is poorly cooked before making your orders…but once it won’t allow the penetration of your cutlery after trying twice, just forget about it. The dangers are that in trying to cut the meat, you make a splash at the instance of the meat’s resistance…you pick up the meat with your fingers and you strike as uncouth…you eat the meat and it’s so hard, you’re stuck between chewing it for minutes and swallowing it…or you succeed at last and you have to use a toothpick. In the absence of none, the last thing you want to do is to pick away with your fingers!

Whole Lobster: It’d require the use of your bare hands, and I’m sure your date will actually mind the smell of fishy fingers after dinner..

Nairaland / General / SEE IT: The Most Expensive Diamond Valued At Over $60 Million (PHOTOS) by tutubranch(f): 8:25am On Sep 26, 2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADEhyB3rOpo

This single jewel is astonishingly expensive that it was the company's employee that was used to model The Pink Star diamond advert (of course with gem like this anything heist could happen) and is expected to fetch more than $60 million at auction.

The auctioning company, Sotheby said in a statement Wednesday that The Pink Star, a
59.60-carat oval cut pink diamond, would go up for auction on Nov. 13 in the historic five-star Beau-Rivage Hotel along Lake Geneva.

David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby's Switzerland, says the vivid pink diamond is "of immense importance" because of its extraordinary size and exceptionally rich color that surpass all others known to exist in government, royal or private collections.

He says it is "simply off any scale, and passes, I believe, into the ranks of the earth's greatest natural treasures
