BusinessBAD:Ad-clicking Bots Predicted To Rip US$7.2 Billion From Advertisers by tweetsme(op): 10:04am On Mar 30, 2017
Botnets will inflict a massive US$7.2 billion in damages against online advertisers this year according to research by ad security company White Ops.

Last year the industry was said to have lost US$5 billion, close to the $6.3 billion White Ops predicted in December 2014, thanks to the scourge of botnets that hugely inflate the number of online ad clicks.

The average loss was US$10 million per advertiser with the hardest-hit haemorrhaging a staggering US$42 million.

That earns scammers loads of cash and even more this year, according to the 2015 Bot Baseline: fraud in digital advertising...

The work is a joint effort with the Association of National Advertisers in which 49 ad companies tagged their online content in August through to September to allow researchers to tell how many bots were clicking ads.

Brands include Playstation, Ford, Unilever, Dell, IBM, and McDonalds among other giants. The amounts lost are not attributed to individual companies.

About nine percent were fake, the researchers say, equating to $10 million in lost revenue per advertiser.

One publisher’s impression volume rose by six percent thanks to bots.

Some advertisers stand to lose tens of millions of dollars this year if they do not move to lock out bots, the report says.

The New York company co-founded by respected security man Dan Kaminsky notes in its report that most bots fleeced programmatic advertising, with a majority hitting more lucrative programmatic video ads.

Publishers buying expensive pay-per-click traffic are the best earners for fraudsters with fresh, undetected bots, while mass clicking low-end ad-men who do next-to-nothing to purge bots are the criminal's last resort.

Advertising fraud botnets remain lucrative for longer than many criminal enterprises, provided new machines can be infected.

Chief executive officer Michael Tiffany says scammers that keep their bots fresh earn the highest revenue.

"Bot operations, then, have a profit window, a period of time from when a computer has been freshly infected until the bot is so widely detected that no one will pay for its impressions anymore," Tiffany says.

"Infections at the leading edge of the profit window, those that are fresh, affect high-CPM (cost per mile) advertising buys.

"Because most systems will not determine that the just-infected machines are now sending non-human traffic, high-CPM direct buys, programmatic private marketplace deals, and buys on top-tier platforms are all affected."

Your response shows you are truly educated. People like you still makes me believe in this mess up country. Thanks dear
Pebcak:

Dino need to thread softly the moment they ask him if he graduated from Harvard and he says yes then that ll be a lie and he will be under oath, if he says no there is a public video of him saying otherwise so he's not credible.

He might end up going to jail if he's not careful, when US public official run into scandal like this they quietly resign. I bet Sowore is happy to drag him out of 9ja to a corrupt free court. Also there is a possibility the case might be thrown out since US court wont bring the VC or head of exam and records to testify in New york. The VC claimed "according to information he got Dino graduated" but exams and records said he didn't fulfill all course requirement for him to be awarded the degree.

If it's a female Judge and i am sowore's lawyer i will digress to him also being a woman beater. He should thread softly.

For all educated people in Nigeria if you go thru the stress of writing WAEC, almighty JAMB, go thru the stress of graduating from a Naija Uni, you will truly understand why all these fake graduate and degrees should be condemned.
I went to OAU and I bet other uni grad can say the same, the great IFE struggle is a waste if some one can present certificate that does not even weigh up to the trade center certificate.

Its a big shame when i see people shouting Dino is hero, if its not clear at this point you ll never get it Harvard denied him, that London school did the same, I have no issue with 3rd class but he didn't even earn that 3rd class thats the point and he's parading himself with 8 degrees how now.

You can't go for 2 weeks seminar and claim that school
Just like the other senator I read about earlier here getting a mail order certificate Ph D kilode, it's a shame to all form of degree holders in 9ja from BSc, BA, BEd.... all the way to PhD

Many people see it as Sowore vs Dino fight but i see it as Nigerian graduates VS Fraud (we need to bury this attitude its a virus). Soon enough the value of getting educated which is very low will become worse. I can lie if I have money and power and claim I have a degree, or get a mushroom college in UK to award me a PhD certificate this is all like a dream to me.

WebmastersHow The Pope Started A Domain Bidding War by tweetsme(op): 9:07am On Mar 25, 2017
People across the world watched with interest as it was announced that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger would take the papal name Pope Benedict XVI.

But for some, the name had more than religious or historical significance. Instead, it represented a chance at making fast money.

Pope Benedict XVI
Pope Benedict XVI inspired some to create new email addresses
As the news broke, there was a rush to be the first to register the new title as a web or e-mail address, sparking an online bidding war.

Now a whole range of papal domain names and e-mail addresses are up for sale on eBay, sitting alongside the commemorative mugs, photos, t-shirts, thimbles, watches and other Pope paraphernalia.

'God's work'

While some promise the money to charity or to go towards paying off university fees, others claim purchasing a web address for the Pope will signify their devotion to the Catholic leader.

The top rating domain name so far - PopeBenedictXVI.com - registered by a Canadian, is currently going for over $5,000.

It had previously been auctioned for almost $20,000, but was closed after a mistake in the bidding.

Another seller, Chris, who has the domain name ThepopebenedictXVI.com up for grabs, said he was only seconds behind the Canadian in registering the address.

"I want the money from the domain name to go to God's work," he said. "If mine doesn't sell on eBay I will try to donate it to the Catholic Church."

'Cyber Pope'

Meanwhile, an e-mail address set up by an Irish-born journalism student in London has received world-wide media interest after he put up popebenedictxvi@hotmail.it for sale.

While it has only received $150 in bids so far, seller Vincent Flood, 27, says he is more interested in the "buzz of media attention".

So far his story has been picked up by TV, radio, print and online across 25 different countries.

Vincent Flood
Vincent Flood has been dubbed the "Cyber Pope"
In addition, the hotmail address has been swamped with excited e-mails from well-wishers who believe they are actually writing to the Pope.

One congratulatory e-card sent to the address read: "Holy Father how are you? Father I kindly request you to take care of your health."

Others have not been so formal with what they believe to be the head of the Catholic Church - "hey pope i hope u av a gd reign", one message read.

Mr Flood, now dubbed the Cyber Pope, said he has sent on the official Vatican address for those wishing to contact the Pope.

He has only received one negative e-mail to the address, which asks the Pope why the Catholic Church frowns upon homosexuality.

Mr Flood said he doesn't see a reason why people should take offence at the e-mail title.

"I haven't stolen anything or taken anything from the Pope. I'm surprised anyone was interested in it at all," he said.

He hopes the money raised will go towards paying off his student debt, and that the interest generated will help launch his career.

'Recurring phenomenon'

Another eBay user, 57-year-old Ric Moser, a computer consultant in Newport Richey, Florida, US, is selling PopeBenedict-16.org, with a starting bid of $49.

Mr Moser said only a few domain names had the potential to generate "big bucks".

"I don't think there's anything sacrosanct about any domain names," he said.

"But I'd be concerned if someone took one and used it for a porn site. The internet is open to any type of abuse," he added.

eBay
The trend to sell bizarre objects on eBay appears to be growing
Chris Dunaway, 33, from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is also selling a range of domain names, including Popebenedict.org, PopeBenedict.net and PopeBenedict.info.

He said he spent one month researching possible names for the Pope, and has also started to register domain names for the 2008 US election.

But unlike the other bidders, Mr Dunaway said he has "been called all sorts of names", including Pope Squatter.

Jay Finnan, of Sedo.com, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts - which is also advertising Mr Dunaway's domain names - said they had received offers for up to $1,600, and three other Pope Benedict titles had sold for $4,000.

"This is definitely a recurring phenomenon," he said.

"When John Kerry chose Senator Edwards as his running mate the owner of KerryEdwards.com quickly listed it on our site.

"There was a flood of media attention around it and soon hundreds of speculators were listing every conceivable variation of Kerry Edwards."

Making profits

Mr Finnan said the type of people purchasing domain names are mostly interested in selling advertising or making a fan web site for the Pope.

Some people are buying to resell the address at a later date, and some are a combination of all three types, he said.

He dismissed the idea that some could be the target of porn or gambling websites.

Mr Finnan said: "99.9% of people buying these are interested in the Pope. If somebody is interested in making profits it's better for them to advertise Pope related items such as religious books and non-profit organisations."

He said a gambling or porn site registered in the Pope's name would not generate profits, because visitors would be expecting content on the Pope, and so wouldn't explore the site further.

While the bidding for Pope Benedict domain names continues, it appears the trend to sell bizarre objects on the likes of eBay is far from over.

BusinessWhy Is Branding So Important For Buinesses In This Decade? by tweetsme(op): 6:53pm On Mar 23, 2017
Branding is an integral part of any business; research shows that every successful business has its foundation laid on its unique brand. Brand is a major part of your marketing plan. The purpose is to make it easier for the customers to relate your brand to the particular product or service that you are to offer them. Similarly your company name, logo and brand are not just mere symbols but the picture that comes to the customers’ mind when they require the service or product you offer. It engages their attention and attraction.Creating a brand is not where you win, it takes more than that. Sermonize your brand logo; exhort it to your target market as much as it takes. Before doing so what you need to do is understand that a logo and brand is important even for a small store so as to satisfy your investments because it might reach to quite a number of zeros.

1. Your Business Logo

Logo
Brands enable customers to remember your product or service, and that is where logo and branding work together. A brand consists of many components that must all integrate into a seamless, functional whole. We, humans are fond of remembering most of what we see; what we see somehow stays in our subconscious. For that simple reason, companies that want their branding to succeed put a lot of effort and huge amounts of money into making a logo. Widely, logos are considered the most important component of a branding strategy or campaign. Importance of logo in branding can be further simplified as:
Frontline Representation – A logo is considered as the frontline representative for a business. It provides the business with an image and it should be able to convey the message clearly.
Memory – It tends to happen so many times that you see a person and you can recall that you have seen them before but actually don’t remember them, similarly customer tends to remember a logo rather than the name of the company. A simple and good looking logo will often be easier to remember than the name of a product.
Uniqueness – Don’t only make your logo look the best but also make it unique so that it is easier for the customers to differentiate it, of course you do not want to confuse them. Make it look different because it’s not just a logo it’s the identity of your company which stakes your company’s credibility.
A brand doesn’t only need to have a logo, but as a matter of fact, a massive component of it turning out to be the touch point for the customers. The ability to be noticeable, to be remembered by customers, and to be the representation of the product and company are all discerning elements of a good branding strategy. These are also functions that a good logo can be used for.

2. The Customer and Brand Bonding

Brands build customer loyalty and lead to repeat purchases. It resides within the hearts and minds of the customers, clients, and prospects. It is the sum total of their experiences and perceptions, some of which you can influence, and some that you cannot. You need to understand the underlying needs and wants of your customers and prospects. You do this by integrating your brand strategies through your company at every point of public contact. These three cues might help you understand better about creating brand loyalty.

2
Connection with Customers
In today’s world consumers don’t only seek a product but they are looking for an experience, so premium brands offer a sensory package. BMW has really hit the mark on a sensory package–it’s the feel, the sound, the smell that let you know you’re behind the wheel of the ultimate driving machine. As brands are battling for higher affinity, it has become fundamental to connect and engage with your customers on a regular basis.
Anticipate Needs
Starting off with selling is not a good call. What you need to do is identify what your customers want because now customers look for the next level of experience. Give them special treatment because the customer is king; provide them with incentives because they love it. These customers tend to be more profitable and most probably will stay loyal to your brand.
Consistently Deliver High Quality
When we say premium, naturally we are talking about quality. A quality product will land you customers, but brand loyalty is created by consistency. Keeping consistency in deliverance is reassuring and helps keep your business on top. An overwhelmed customer stays loyal and keeps your profits consistently higher and the formula to it is easy: just over all give them good quality and experience better than what they anticipate.
3. Referrals

Referral
This is about making your brand talk-able. Brands make it easier for current clients or customers to refer your brand to others. It is very well known that advertising is not a trustworthy marketing tactic as much as word-of-mouth, which makes it important that your brand should create positive impact on the customers. To accomplish these two simple tasks, first of all convey to the customers your importance and why your business is unique. You need to tell them why your brand is exciting and how it is more important than any other brand. Once you are done with the story telling, then start the task of listening.Listen to your customers always, and make sure that your brand has a starring role in the conversations of your customers. Listen to them however and whenever possible. Find ways to connect with them to get their feedback more often.

4. Value Added

value
Brands add value! By this I mean add something different to your service that no one in the market is offering. For that, you need to go the extra mile and do something so spectacular which is not part of your business. Go out of your routine to serve the customers by keeping them your highest priority. Be in sight of your customers as often as possible to remind them about your values and working strategically with them. Your customers should always be convinced that you are the best in providing that certain product or service. Reward customer loyalty and keep trying new, innovative ideas. The above mentioned pointers can help you keep your existing customers while reaching out to the new ones, creating a bigger clientele for you. What other reasons can you think of that makes branding important for your business? Let us know in the comment section below.

Business5 Things You Must Do To Be A Successful Entrepreneur by tweetsme(op): 7:53pm On Feb 02, 2017
As humans, we all go through our day-to-day lives aiming and craving for success but the truth is very few people know the real definition of success and even more few are ready to give it what it takes.

A lot of things are easier said than done and success is very renowned when it comes to this; nobody wants to be a failure, we all want to be a success but very few of us are ready to pay the price.

A lot is happening nowadays that is redefining the real meaning of an entrepreneur; people want to take the easy route and by so doing they follow the footsteps of others and pave the way for their failure.

According to the Concise Oxford English Dictionary the real definition of an entrepreneur is a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. I will be explaining some principles below which are required for the success of every entrepreneur (note the word “entrepreneur”) – these principles might not apply to everybody as far as success is concerned but the truth is you really need to follow them if you want to succeed as an entrepreneur.

1. Learn To Live by Risks

If you take a look at the definition of the word “entrepreneur” one word that should shine is the word “risks”. An entrepreneur is not just an entrepreneur because he knows how to make money but because he learns to make profit by taking risks.

Take a look at all the major project there is, all the major projects that helped some of the biggest entrepreneurs make their name, all the projects that helped most of the small entrepreneurs make a living and all the projects that helped entrepreneurs achieve their dreams and one thing you will notice about all these projects is that they are a product of risk.

As an entrepreneur there is little to no assurance of you profiting from your investments; it doesn’t matter what the stats or the experts say, there is still little to no guarantee of you succeeding but you have to take the risk anyway. For example, if you take a look at the blogging and make money online field you will notice that highly successful bloggers like Darren Rowse and John Chow will tell you that blogging is easy but looking at the number of people who start blogs every year and how a “very large” percentage of them fail you will see clearly that this is not true.

The truth is, as far as building a successful business is concerned, the result two different people will get under the same circumstance will be completely different. If Darren were to start a new blog today he will be able to build it to a successful stage as a result of the knowledge he has already acquired; this knowledge was gained by the risks he happily took and the cold hard truth is that risks are what help us build our lives and add to our success.

It doesn’t matter what you think or have been made to believe, a true entrepreneur live by risks; and when I say “live by”, I’m not just talking about taking one risk and forgetting about it, I mean you will keep on taking risks every single day of your live, you will keep on taking risks with every business you start and you will keep on taking risks with every decision you make.

Whether you like to believe this or not, we are gods if we already know the outcome of the decisions we will make; and not knowing the outcomes of our decisions is what is called risks, and this same thing is what makes us humans – you shouldn’t shy away from this, but, rather, you should focus on adapting your life to it.

2. You Must be a Man of Decision

This also goes in line with the aspect of taking risks. Each major risk you take is a product of a strong decision you have to make and the weak at heart or the indecisive entrepreneur will have a hard time succeeding.

True entrepreneurs learn to make wise decisions and they always make it fast, and a great thing to know when trying to make the best decision is to know that you’re not perfect or infallible and that there always will be a failure in whatever you do – this is not to prevent you from making some decisions but, rather, be prepared for the worse.

Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages and a true entrepreneur won’t just condemn a decision because it has disadvantages. You should also be firm and stand with your decision no matter what and you should make the term “not wavering” your watchword.

3. Learn to Live by Faith

One great characteristic of highly successful entrepreneurs is that they are unshakable and immovable and they don’t need external gratification to believe that what they’re doing is going to work out for them – the day you start expecting gratification from the outside in anything you do is the day you start failing, believe it or not!

The bible is a great book when it comes to faith but many people believe a lot of the characters in the bible are some sort of special people and that the theory they hold doesn’t apply to us. If you don’t read the bible you at least read other motivational books (another characteristic of a successful entrepreneur) and one major thing you can learn from reading these books and taking a look at the lives of the most successful men history has ever produced is the power of faith.

Faith is having a great belief (if I may use that word) in the unseen; it is the strong belief you have in yourself and your project before you ever start it, it is the great future you see ahead of yourself and your business and it is the great power that drives every entrepreneur to success.

I see a lot of people make a great mistake and I laugh at them, I was once a believer and supporter of this great mistake they make but I learnt my lesson the hard way; that mistake is in the saying that it takes money to make money – this is total B.S and believe me, I don’t need you to believe me when it comes to this. I have read a lot of books, seen the lives of several successful entrepreneurs and applied a lot of principles to my life but one major lesson I have learnt is that it really doesn’t take money to make money. No wonder the popular author Napoleon Hill says that every single thought of man has a way of affecting the universe.

I’m not trying to say having more money can’t increase your chances of success but my point is that not having money is not an excuse for you to be a failure.

The only thing it takes to succeed is tenacity and a very strong desire to succeed. Our mind is a very powerful tool that can achieve a lot of things beyond our imaginations, even far more things that we presently have discovered, and a really wise entrepreneur will effectively use this to achieve success for himself. The truth is, in our day-to-day activities and every single decision we make we are influenced by our minds.

If you don’t believe me when it comes to this take a proper look at the lives of many of the individuals we have in the world today and you will notice that the reason a lot of them are a continuous failure is the way they are brought up; they have been greatly limited from a very young age (especially by their parents) and they have been made to believe a lot of mundane things such as it only takes hard work, going to school and getting a job to succeed in life, they no longer think beyond the cycle of going to school and getting a job and they keep on working the heck out of themselves, yet, they still can’t afford the dreams of their desire.

Your mindset needs to change and you need to transform yourself from the realm of the impossible to the realm of the possible; the truth is, nobody will help you do this. People can preach to you all they like but the decision is yours to make and the result is yours to get.

4. You Must be Ready to Improve

Many entrepreneurs are brought to a piece of bread because of the thing called “ego”, they are too proud to learn from their mistakes and the funny thing is we keep on looking for excuses to make bad things look good (believe me, that is why the named pride ego).

It doesn’t matter whether you call it pride or ego, it can’t take you anywhere as an entrepreneur. The key to real success lies in bring yourself low because only he that brings himself low will go up and he that sees himself as the ultimate is doomed already.

We are humans, we can never know all and we are so developed in such a way that we have to keep learning, no matter how old or young we are, but what matters is how you learn and how you take your learning.

There are a lot of ways to learn and improve yourself as an entrepreneur, it can be by learning from your mistakes, by learning from people who are highly successful, by learning from those who are below you and even by learning from living and non living things; there is never something called too much learning.

The truth is, we can only imagine where the world will be in the next 5-10 years and this largely explains why a lot of things that were the talk of the town in the last decades are completely irrelevant now.

Real entrepreneurs always adapt to changes and are always ready to improve, they are like an amoeba that has no shape and like a chameleon that has no color, they will always succeed wherever they are, in any business they start. Keep improving and the sky is your limit!

5. You Must Challenge the Usual

I am tired of a lot of things in my life lately and one of those things is being stagnant and on the same spot for a very long time, in an attempt to make sure I move up and experience an exponential growth I took a look at some of the entrepreneurs who are finding it extremely easy to succeed nowadays and one major thing I found out about them is that they are unconventional.

It now takes being bold and completely truthful to succeed (which is exactly how it is supposed to be). The cold hard truth is this, people are already tired of you telling and giving them what they want, they now really need to hear and get what they need. A large percentage of these people will disagree with what I’m saying but what really moves people to take action nowadays is what they go against; that is why the most controversial posts get shared the most and why the most controversial products go viral and bring about success.

AutosWaymo Cuts Costs, Raises Reliability Of Its Self-driving Cars by tweetsme(op): 9:01am On Feb 02, 2017
Waymo, the subsidiary of Alphabet formerly known as the Google Self Driving Car Project, is poised to offer its autonomous-drive technology in millions of vehicles as it lowers costs for key components and improves the reliability of its self-driving.

“Our latest innovations have brought us closer to scaling our technology to potentially millions of people every day,” said John Krafcik, CEO of Waymo.

Later this month in California and Arizona, Waymo will start testing its technology in Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivans, modified through a partnership with Fiat-Chrysler.

It’s the next step in a six year journey that has seen the Google self-driving car go from limited drives in a small number of modified Lexus SUV’s, to testing a fleet of vehicles on public roads across four states.
h gives Waymo vehicles a view of everything on and around a vehicle driving down a street, has dropped dramatically.

In fact, Krafcik said the cost of a package of LIDAR sensors and radar in a car—which , used to run approximately $75,000—has fallen by more than 90 percent.

In addition, Waymo said it has now developed short and long range LIDAR sensors that allow its vehicles to “see small people and objects close to the car, and spot tiny objects far away, too,” the CEO said.

“We’re serious about creating full self-driving cars that can help millions of people,” said Krafcik. “To do that, we have to oversee both the self-driving software and self-driving hardware.”

The company says the performance of it self-driving technology is working four times better today than it was a year ago. As a result, Krafcik says Waymo’s test drivers now take control of the vehicle and disengage the autonomous-drive system approximately once every five thousand miles driven.

To date, Waymo and its predecessor have logged more than 2.5 million miles testing autonomous-drive technology.

Waymo is not alone in the race to develop autonomous drive vehicles. Several automakers and tech firms are also investing heavily in the technology.

While some companies like Tesla already offer semi-autonomous technology—where the driver can take their hands off the wheel for brief periods of time—it is likely to be several years before people can turn over the majority of the driving to the “brains” in their vehicle.
