A well fed and healthy baby is the best. Please buy baby formular while you continue working on / waiting for breastmilk to flow well. If you want to do exclusive, once your breastmilk comes in, then you stop the formula.

Things that have helped me with Breastmilk flow from best to the least
1. Bitterleaf Soup
2. Hot Cocoa Beverage (Milo, Bournvita etc
3. Pap
This plus drinking lots of water.

Other things you can try that has worked for some people: Palmwine, Oats, Lactation Cookies

Congratulations! Worry not. It's normal. I was pregnant with Twins with Zero symptoms at the early stage, in fact I had to go take Beta HCG test to convince myself even though my Dr assured me that being without symptoms is normal. Pregnancy symptoms kicked in late for me.

Thanks Cappo. They're doing great. 4th Trimester is real. The breast sucking is on another level, hubby jokes that my breast is now very small and I'm not doing exclusive ooo.

But I thank God, they're really easy babies just like I prayed for. I pray God continues to make it easy for me. Amen.

Persil Non Bio. Its best to go for the biggest size, 130 washes. A bit pricey buying it the first time but it lasts like kilode so if you check how long you'll use it, then you'll see that it's worth it in the long run.

Other options but I think more expensive than Persil is Dreft and Ivory.

But if you can't afford Persil, then buy Sunlight or any detergent you can afford, but make sure you rinse baby clothes thoroughly. You actually should no matter the detergent but more if using a general detergent.

Yes, please wash everything. Baby's skin and body system is very delicate. You don't know how the clothes were handled from cutting to sewing, to packaging till it got to you.

- No incubator needed. They were both A Okay in everything, all round. No Jaundice too.

- Yes, Dr recommended we birth them early due to some high risk factors including the presence of Fibroids, previous Fibroid surgery and the fact that they're Twins. However, their weight was monitored and found okay for delivery before we went ahead.

- The Paediatrician instructed that they should be fed 1-2hrs after birth. They were fed Pre-Nan Baby Formula (Dr recommended) and they latched to the Feeding Bottle, sucked/ate well from it.

- I started putting them to the breast too even though my Milk didn't come in until the 2nd/3rd day or so which is normal for CS deliveries. I was putting them to the breast and also used breast pump to encourage flow of milk. Once milk came in, they started feeding well on the breast too. Twin B had the perfect latch & strong sucking on the breast while Twin A wasn't latching/sucking the breast strongly the 1st time but got it after a few trials.

There's no ideal time but it's best you shop early when you still have the energy and in the mood. Towards late pregnancy, 3rd Trimester, you'll get heavier and long walking associated with shopping might become difficult. You might also get irritable.

For Lagos Island shop recommendation, i have no idea. But best is to make your list, enter market, price in one shop, go to the 2nd and/or 3rd and compare prices then buy.

June mama here. It hasn't been funny at all. I have not had a full night sleep since June. They say it gets better after three months. I'm just waiting for August ending to come. I've been having sore/cracked nipples too . I'm doing exclusive. Please, who knows the remedy for sore nipples?

Buy Nipple cream if you can, otherwise you can try rubbing original Vaseline Blue Seal often on the Nipples especially immediately after feeding or pumping.

I use the Tommee Tippee " Made for Me Nipple Cream" sells between N6,000 to N6,900 depending on where you're buying from and it's very good. Soothes my Nipple immediately I rub and massage it in after feeding/pumping.

Hot Pap, Hot Chocolate drinks, Palm Wine, Quaker Oat and plenty liquid whether Water or from Fruits or juices. Also put him to the breast often cos it's the demand (sucking) that will also help your body to adjust and increase supply.

But in all, a well fed baby is the best. If your breast milk isnt enough for whatever reason, you can consider speaking to your Dr / a Pediatrician for a Formula recommendation. Cheers Mama. You're doing great!

Actual Date of Birth: 10th July
EDD: 9th August
Gender: XY and XY same as seen on scan
Weight: They weighed less than the estimated scan weight but their weight was still great.
Birth time: Born 2minutes apart via a Vertical cut CS due to high risk factors
PCV Before and After: 35% and 25%. No blood transfusion was needed Pre and Post delivery. Iron tablets was part of my Post delivery drugs though.

Birth Story
Prepped for CS in the morning, prayed with my husband and was wheeled into the Theatre. I was given a Spinal Anaesthesia and the Team of Doctors including a Paediatrician started the procedure. In no time I heard the cry of the first twin and just burst out into tears and praises to God. 2nd Twin was born 2minutes afterwards, they were cleaned up and brought to my head side for cuddling and pictures while the Drs continued stitiching me up.

After a while I asked if my husband has seen the babies, they said no, that I had to see the babies first and give the consent for them to be taken out out of the theatre since they're healthy and had no need to be taken out. I asked for them to be taken to my husband in my room cos I know he'd be anxious and waiting. My husband cried tears of joy holding them.

Everything went well, by evening I passed gas so next day ie 24hrs later I was allowed Water, then followed by Lipton tea and Pap. By 3rd day I could eat anything I wanted, so I ate Amala and Ewedu as my main meal for the day. I wasn't allowed to go home because I was yet to stool. I didnt know stooling was part of the discharge deal. So by next morning, I took stooling seriously, I ate Vegetable soup with Semo, drank plenty water and stooled plenty; I was set to go home after that but was told to wait till next morning.

So I gave birth on Saturday and left the hospital Wednesday morning.

My Miracle Boys are doing great. I give God all the glory forever for all he has done, for all he does and for all he will ever do.

Heart Palpitations can be caused by low blood levels sometimes. You may want to run a PCV test to be sure and rule this out. Also increase your intake of Fruits and Veggies and Iron rich foods. Take care.

I noticed the prevalence of jaundice in new born this days, I once asked how to prevent it and fermented soaked unripe pawpaw water was suggested, please how safe?

I was never prescribed Calcium but I know it's very useful in pregnancy. Some hospitals add it to the routine Prenatal drugs. I only got Pregnatone and much later Astyfer and Asytymin to boost my blood volume. When I changed from Pregnatone to a Prenatal tummy because it was doing me somehow, my Dr evaluated the Gummy and added Folic Acid to it. He said the Folic acid in the Gummy is low plus am carrying Twins so it wasn't nearly enough.

Some Mamas here said once in a while they took CalgoVit but for me, I preferred getting my calcium from food sources. So what I did was change my Milk to Loya Milk that has a high calcium content, higher than other Milks and I think that worked. A mama here used it and recommended.

For the Pawpaw water for Jaundice, I learned that it is used to treat Jaundice in Babies, I don't know about using it while pregnant for Prevention. So if a baby is born and has Jaundice, the mother drinks the unripe paw paw water and breastfeeds continuously so the baby gets it from the breastmilk, a little is also added to Baby's bath water.

Incidentally, I was just reading up on Jaundice in Babies on he UK National Health Website (NHS) and its caused by several things that one has no control of. Example: Mother and Baby having different Blood Group and/or Rhesus factor and this mixing, Infection etc. The site is thorough with causes, treatment etc. You can Google to read more.

The answer to your question is, it was CS we were supposed to stay for 4 days but ended up stating for 8 because the LOs had Jaundice and DW needed a transfusion after the surgery and had malaria from the blood that she was given. So we haven't immunized the kids yet or done circumcision because of the the jaundice

Any Brand is fine. 5mg. I've been using the Vitabiotics Dr Meyers Brand (Red and White Bottle) that they sell like N200 / N300 Naira for a small bottle that contains 100 Tablets, okay by my Dr, My Babies are doing very well, no issues from 20weeks Anatomy Scan too. We're currently in the 3rd Trimester, due in August.

Cost of Anatomy scan differs depending on the Scan House, Location etc. I did mine at Afriglobal Ikeja Lagos for N15k another Mama here did hers at one hospital on the Island for N25k. It is done in Black and White.

Please note that the Anatomy scan is different from the regular pregnancy scan. Regular Pregnancy scan at Afriglobal Ikeja is N3,500. At one of my Hospitals is N2k. Some Mamas here also said theirs is N1k to N1,500 so it really depends.

Good morning Able Mama's, I went for Anatomy scan on Monday doctor said everything is fine. But the scan shows am 21 weeks 5days and Edd is now 3rd Nov. While LMP is saying am 20weeks 3days and edd is 13th Nov. Which one sud I stick to?cos am in doubt right now.

LMP and early scans are more accurate for EDD than the Anatomy Scand and Scand done in later part of Pregnancy. The objectuve of the Anatomy scan is to check Baby/Babies body parts and organs and ensure everything is fine. Every other thing they check and add in the report is jara.

Also note that as your pregnancy progresses, your babies might be big or add weight more and based on their body measurements, your EDD will change on the scan report. Mine kept changing up and down, I was getting Scans every 2weeks and now weekly in my Drs office because of my high risk factor. All my Dr focuses on is that they're doing well.

Next month is August

Teamie, I had low PCV too but its boosted now, it was rising 4% to 5% every 2weeks. These are the things I did in addition to my Prenatal
1. Added Liver to my Diet. Easier recipe for me: I slice, add seasoning, onions and pan/pot fry in butter. Gets done in minutes and tastes divine. Well I liked Liver even before pregnancy.

2. Started taking Beetroot Juice mixed with any Fruit / Veggie juice of Choice (them Chivita, Five Alive Juices etc). I peel the Beetroot, wash well with drinking water, cut into pieces, blend with drinking water, sieve out the chaff, sweeten it with juice, put inside bottle, chill inside fridge/freezer and enjoy.

3. The Drug "Astyfer" (My Dr recommended) The Syrup always gave me Heartburn so I changed to the Capsule. Still gives me Heartburn but not as much. I take this with Vit C rich Juice or My homemade Beetroot juice if available.

4. Asytymin Multivit (My Dr recommended): I also started taking this too as prescribed by my Dr.

5. Once in a week, I try to cook something with Ugu Leaves (Pumpkin Leaves). Usually like N100 Ugu.

PS: I learned Ugu Juice mixed with Malt or Milk works but mehn, not for me. Tried it, didn't like the taste plus the stress of juicing the Ugu.

Also make sure you're taking your Iron drugs with something rich in Vit C like a Juice. Vit C helps with proper Iron Absorption.

Refrain from taking Dairy (Milk), Calcium or Folic acid with your Iron drugs. They work again each others Absorption. Take your Iron, wait for minimum of 2hours before taking your Prenatal or Vice Versa.
