Hhmmmm The people who argued for the creation of states in 1966/67 are the same people today who are asking for the restructuring of Nigeria with particular preference for regional arrangements. The South-west wants preferably a region, a region that was at one time under the leadership of Chief Awolowo, unless, of course, you are trying to ignore all the writings, all the things that had been written, particularly in their declaration called DAWN, Development Agenda for Western Nigeria, then you can ignore this. |

Like the say, every story always has two sides : CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
A landlady, Mrs Idayat Aderibigbe has suffered broken leg after her tenant, Obidi Ibeagha attacked her and pushed her down for demanding 20 months rent arrears he was owing her in Lagos.
The tenant, Ibeagha has since been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly assaulting from where he was remanded in prison custody.
The incident happened on 13 January 2017 at Cele Bus-stop in Egbe Ikotun, suburbs of Lagos where the suspect reside with his family.
The Oba, Anambra State-born tenant has been unable to pay the rent arrears due to the economic situation before the landlord died last year.
44-year old Ibeagha, said to have became angry and attacked the landlady for asking from him the rent he owed the woman’s late husband.
He reportedly pushed her and she fell down and got injured and broke one of her legs.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered after the landlord died last year, Ibeagha had hoped that he will not pay the rent arrears since the person who rented out the three bedroom apartment to him had died.
He, however became angry when the victim started demanding for the rent from him, he first told her that he wanted to park out from the apartment to a smaller apartment and as such he would not pay the arrears because she was not his landlord at that period he was owing.
When the landlady insisted that he will pay the arrears before he will be allowed to move out, he reportedly attacked her.
The victim was rushed to a hospital and the matter was reported to the police at Ikotun division who arrested Ibeagha.
He was taken to court where he was charged with assault and occasional harm under the Criminal code.
He pleaded not guilty. At the Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo, the presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ibeagha was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 15 February 2017.

Politics › Re: 2019: New Mega Party Zones Presidency To The North •VP For S/east.. by Twistaray(m): 3:35pm On Jan 29, 2017 |
nery4u: Leaders of the new mega party, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) are said to have resolved to zone the Presidential ticket of the party to the Northern part of the country, in a measure aimed at “sustaining the power momentum,” a source close to the party has said. Though promoters of the party only last Wednesday submitted documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in search of registration, the leaders are said to have resolved not to leave things to chance. It was gathered that the party is ‘‘learning from the failures of the All Progressives Congress(APC), which also dubbed itself a mega party at inception, but had failed to deal with issues of power configuration and thereby fell into a stiff power struggle its leaders are still grappling with at the National Assembly. “We will not make the same mistakes made by the APC and the other big party, the PDP. We are ready to take adequate notice of the sensibilities of the various geopolitical components of the country and ensure that all interests are taken care of,” a leader of the ADP told Sunday Tribune. It was gathered that besides zoning the presidency to the North, and particularly the North- West, the party is also contemplating zoning the vice president’s slot to the South-East while the position of the Senate president will be zoned to the South-West. Sources said that discussions among the leaders tend towards firming up the zoning arrangement even before the registration of the party. South-South Zonal Coordinator of the party, Senator Rowland Owie, also said in an interview that the party was thinking of zoning the seats. He told Sunday Tribune that the South-East should be wary of the advice from former President Olusegun Obasanjo that its politicians should seek Presidency in 2019 adding that the zone would be better off with the slot of vice president in 2019. “I urge the South-East to support the emerging ADP and get the VP slot in 2019 and thereafter take the presidential slot when presidency returns to the South,” he said. Protem national chairman of the ADP, Mr Yagbayi Sani, also told the Sunday Tribune in an interview that the party was ready to learn from the errors of the ruling APC and the PDP, adding that the two parties have lost their appeal to Nigerians. According to him, while the ADP is not out for power grab in 2019, the new party will be willing to benefit from the beauty of democracy which, he said, “enables the people to bring a government to power and also change the governments at intervals.”

No wonder you people are refer to " E - Bow. Una don finally bow to APC. Joe, even though you were persecuted, hated by your brethen they've finaly gave in : Ever since President Buhari won the 2015 Presidential elections he was destined to win having labored in 2003, 2007, 2011 and then 2015 a very vast preponderance of South South and South East indigenes have descended on the President, pouring invectives, calling him names, abusing his person and his exalted office, preaching hate, and ethnic divisions. I have followed this dangerous trend over a year now, and it is not abetting. It is growing like wild fire everyday. In recent times the South-South people whose son lost the election have moved on except the criminal avengers who are fighting for their pockets only and destroying their environment.
I have seen spirited and genuine efforts being made by the leaders of South-South to bring peace to the Niger Delta, and I heartily commend them for this. It is in their own interest. But in the South East, our people have refused to move on. In the diaspora, in Nigeria, in schools, in the markets, on the streets, in Churches, in Town Meetings etc Igbo have refused to move on. Every move the President makes to rebuild and reposition the country is abused, castigated and ethnic meaning read into it. The dangerous trend has become so embarrassing that one is compelled to speak out. While leaders of South-South have made interventions to make way for harmony and peaceful co-existence, Igbo leaders have maintained a deafening silence but this silence is no longer golden. Ethnic bigotry and hate speeches our people both at home and abroad dish out everyday endanger our people living in all parts of Nigeria. President Buhari belongs to a section of Nigeria and must not run away with the thinking that his people will be happy and clap for us when we malign and abuse one of their own.
No ethnic group in Nigeria moves and settles in any part of the country like the Igbo. They settle and do business in almost every part of the country, and when we throw stones to other Nigerians, we endanger their lives and their businesses. The worst sets of Igbo guilty of this dangerous trend are those living outside the country. While some of them are engaged in meaningful employment, many of them are unemployed. They have become economic refugees and cultural savages. They have formed an association of hate preachers and wailing bigots. They have through actions and deeds created millions of enemies for Ndigbo in Nigeria while they waste their precious gift of time abroad doing nothing.
Last week the Vice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was in Afe Babalola University Ekiti State as Guest Speaker during the University’s Convocation ceremony. In the cause of his speech, he told his capacity audience the Niger Delta Avengers are not freedom fighters but those fighting for their pockets only. I saw the story on facebook and other sites on the internet. The one on Facebook caught my attention because of nearly 400 reactions as at the time I read it. I took mental note of the reactions and the names attached to it. 95% are Igbo names and they abused and called the Vice President unprintable names for speaking the truth. This is a shame. Ignorance should not be a virtue. Ignorance is a disease. Foolishness is a tragedy. This is ignorance stupid. This is mental darkness. A roaring lion kills no game. It is only a river that wants to get dried up that forgets its source. A Chinese proverb tells me that “He who blames others has a long way to go on his journey. He who blames himself is half way there. He who blames no one has arrived.”
