Never said pregnancy before marriage is a crime...though I know that sex before marriage is a sin in Islam and Christianity. And I never said Igbos don't get pregnant before marriage. My point was that it is a norm for Yorubas to consider someone as husband/wife just by pregnancy, regardless of whether the man responsible has an existing wife/concubine or not. That buttresses my point about rampant polygamy/promiscuity in marriage. For Igbos, it is seen as a taboo.




I thing what you really need is a dictionary and an open mind.

Generalization would be if I said all Yorubas are polygamous/promiscuous in marriage.

A lie! Most Lagos Igbo girls marry Igbo guys. Only a minority marry Yorubas.

One reason that minority do so is that Yoruba guys have seen the difference in behaviour between the average Igbo girl and the average Yoruba girl. Igbo girls are generally more homely, decent and monogamous. The average Igbo woman always makes sure there's food for her family everyday...for them, eating out is a last resort. The average Yoruba girl sees nothing wrong in hoping she can get enough food from the next wedding for her family to use for the weekend. The average Igbo girl would rather wear rags and use the money to feed her kids well...While the average Yoruba girl would rather wear all her family/friends asoebis while her children drink garri...and many more reasons.

Yoruba guys see this and when they compare Ada to their mums and sisters, they value Ada as a jewel. They'd do anything to marry Ada...While the Igbo guy would not be wowed about Ada because he is used to women like that in his family/community. if he doesn't marry Ada, he'll marry the ones even better than Ada who might see themselves as too good for a Yoruba guy.

Also, most Nigerian tribes love to marry Igbos because of these and many more reason. Even hausas love Igbo women...Rivers people...IBB married Igbo...Sultan of Sokoto married Igbo. it is because of the quality of Igbos and the quality of children you'll have.
