**** Makoko is no different from Kibera except that it is on waters. Houses in Makoko are even more spaced than in Kibera where they are all jammed up.

~~~ Lands in Kibera not being up for sale all boils down to the housing system and land usage system which Kenya operates. The occupants of Kibera are not the owners of their lands, but in Nigerian slummish parts of a suburb, the lands belong to the occupants who can sell them at will if given the right amount of money.

the govt is upgrading slums and and nairobi has a housing deficit of about 200k and that is why our govt is commited to build 500k houses in nairobi

Lagos is probably the only African country with a huge landmass with development. Maybe that's why Lagos is 80% urban.

When I see Nairobi, especially the CBD,I only see tall buildings rumbled on one side ,that's why CBD roads are very tiny.I haven't seen any of their aerial views with huge landmass carrying highrises scattered everywhere.
