rvp2018: Last year it was 2.03 trillion kshs that almost 20b in ordinary taxes alone..this year it's up 20 percent almost....and we have not added non tax revenues.Ruto gov intends to move it 30B ordinary revenues in next year https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjp36DHvM36AhUMw4UKHTynCiYQFnoECBMQBQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.kra.go.ke%2Fnews-center%2Fpress-release%2F1752-kra-exceeds-revised-target%2C-records-highest-revenue-growth-in-history%23%3A~%3Atext%3D2.031%2520Trillion%2520for%2520the%2520Financial%2C(FY%25202020%252F2021).&usg=AOvVaw0sd9dUqbuXGoYGG1AYy2oq
The problem is not tax collection its expenditure 50% of all tax revenues is lost through corruption
Shma: There are 4 regions on the continent: North, East, South and west. When you speak of 2regional powers then ignore the two regions, then your point will be presumed as guesswork.
For instance, Nigeria is a regional power in west Africa. Kenya is the regional power in east Africa.
South Africa is the regional power in Southern Africa.
South Africa as a Regional Great Power: South Africa is the wealthiest, most populous and militarily the strongest state in southern Africa. There is no clinical definition of the southern Africa region, but it generally consists of 10 countries: South Africa and its former colony, Namibia; former Portuguese colonies of Angola and Mozambique; former British High Commission territories of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland; and former Central African Federation members, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The region is basically a geographic unit, but it also contains states which have historically maintained a network of commercial, political or communications links with South Africa
Then Egypt is the regional power of North - Arab land.
rvp2018: How does he transfer that to Raila and rally them when he is hiding in statehouse afraid to be heckled.Looking at Martha poorly attended rallies she cannot manage it alone.Unless uhuru engages directly which could cause image problems his jubilee folks are doing everything to distancing themselves from Raila..so Raila support base in Mt Kenya will remain at best 25 percent..if not even worse than that...Uhuru himself has an image problem as he seen by Mt Kenya has having dropped kibaki economic ball and bringing shame to the community by presiding a collapsing economy...so I don't see much hope for Raila in Mt Kenya.Maybe in a rigging schemes he stand a chance..
Uhuru kenyatta has outperformed kibaki by far in terms of economy if he could have stand again I would give him my vote
rvp2018: Ruto who is one front runner is now live on NTV. I am personally deeply involved in his campaigns and I cannot be objective - but I believe Ruto will beat Raila like an african drum. Ruto is intelligent, charismatic, well spoken, hardworking and a natural leader in the mold of Meles Zenawi, Kagame and Museveni in East Africa.
GeneralDae: What's happening with Rwanda and Congo? I thought Congo just celebrated their entry into EAC? Can the EAC do something to resolve the growing conflict?
Rwanda has been f.cking Congo for a long time Rwanda needs to stop destabilizing Congo
jl115: if we take your current growth of 2.3% and use your own 47million claim then in 2022 your population is already over 50 million
and south Africa population is stagnant I see you there We add 10 million averagely every decade is funny how we will add 15 million in 5 years to overtake South Africa
jl115: your infrastructure gap is 11% of GDP ours is 0.6%......
Also our GDP growth rate will never reach that of developing countries with high population growth rates like Kenya.... We are aiming for 5%
the infrastructure gap is reducing with massive investments in infrastructure... Your population is higher than Kenya's and it's unlikely kenya will overtake you so stop hiding behind population growth.
Shma: You're rotating at that angle, while we're reducing year in and year out. If we reduce 0.2% - 0.3% every year, it means we will catch up with you in 4yrs Max. By then, your population with the 1.3% growth rate will be at 70m while kenya will be playing at 61m with 2.3% -1.3%(2026). Once we hit 1.3% in 2026, our population will be growing at a parallel line - and catching up will be near impossible.
By then they will not use population growth as an excuse
jl115: for the most part yes........I will concede that Zuma as plundered our economy however under normal circumstances yes, the bolded is true....and since the ANC very very likely won't be the ruling party in 2 years expect SAs economy to recover back to 5-8% growth by 2030
Kenya too has had a fair share of mega corruption scandals but it has never staganated for years and years.many African countries are bridging the infrastructure gap so you must accept that
jl115: When did I base everything on population growth? I said it's the main driver....and Tanzania like Kenya WILL overtake SA in the very distant future.
Your talk says so.. you mean to say South Africa can only be overtaken by other African countries because other African countries have high population growth... which is a lie South Africa will be overtaken because your economy is stagnanting as simple as that
jl115: Population Growth is.....because of your population growth you should be spending 20% of GDP on infrastructure....currently you are on 9% meaning a 11% deficit......
No lt's a simple question you have refused to answer if you base everything on population growth why has Tanzania not overtaken you
obaaderemi: Dangote was supposed to open a cement factory somewhere in Kenya. When he changed his mind, the poor Kenyans started crying saying they were waiting for the Nigerian to come and save them from unemployment . That was about 6 years ago.
