Career / How To Make Yourself Employable - 3 Simple Ways by Ubercool: 3:43pm On Mar 15, 2020
A lot has changed about recruitment and will continue to change with the advent of technology.
1. One of the things that has changed is how recruiters sift the hundreds of CVs that get to them. Granted that many businesses are still going the manual way, but automation is gaining grounds these days.
What this means is to understand how Applicant Tracking Systems works and make sure your CV conforms.

2. And if you are targeting multinationals, some of them use Pymetrics, a gaming software and competency based questions to analyse your strengths and weaknesses. Once you don't match up, your journey ends there without any one asking for your resume. These ones have little or no use for the traditional CV, so don't be shook when you can't see the tab for 'Upload CV'
This implies you have to stay on top of your career achievements and know how to play those brain tasking games.

3. Building your personal brand online makes it easier for you to get a job because you are visible. You can use any social media platform to showcase your perspective on any topic. These days, people wake up to job offers in their DMs from people who have been observing their Social Media footprints, and there is every inclination that this is not going to stop anytime soon.

Bonus point 4.
Again, you need to Network. Why?
Well, juicy opportunities may not make it online. A friend's friend grabbed an ITF job this year and we all know you don't wake up to their ads on online job boards. Maybe it will happen in 2038 but for now, the only way to get in to some jobs is for the people inside to open the door for you. In fact, to show you where the door is in the first place.. #ThisisNigeria

And not to forget, take professional courses to stay ahead.

PS: I offer CV writing services, cover letter services and walk you through the process of job hunting to help you get your dream job.

This is the Christmas period and some people may travel and will not want their house to be empty and at risk of holiday theft. I thought of it and since I will be in Abuja for the Holidays, I will be offering Housesitting services to anyone that needs it.

I have experience housesitting a private residence in Lokogoma for over 3 months while the owner was away overseas.

Kindly share with your network as someone may need to get this out of the way to fully enjoy their Christmas holidays.

NYSC / How To Make Yourself Employable In 2019 by Ubercool: 9:46pm On Dec 09, 2018
As a corper, one thing that should be at the back of your mind is getting a good job after the service year.
It is advisable to start now to take relevant courses and skill up trainings to prepare yourself for the job hunt.

Many people leave school and throw themselves into the labour market without any form of preparation and wonder why they are never called for an interview, talk more of a job.

Here are some of the common mistakes fresh graduates make while job hunting:

1. Some people can't write a CV. They include unnecessary information and leave out the relevant information that will pass the ATS software.

2. Many applicants can't write a cover letter. They go online and copy templates that have nothing to do with the jobs they're applying for.

3. Applicants use the same CV to apply for a million different jobs.

4. The Emails! A lot of candidates send CVs without including the subject of the mail or including the body.

5. Some applicants send emails with no salutations or wrong salutations.

6. Some applicants send emails without attaching their CVs. So what will the recruiter read?

7. Some applicants send CVs in the wrong format - Screenshots, encrypted CVs, Notepad format, webpages and copying CV in the body of emails.

8. Some applicants' email addresses are not functional but they still include it in their CV.

These are just some of the issues that make many graduates seem unemployable.

One may wonder why CVs are such a big deal. Well, as recruiters, we see a ton of CVs that are poorly written with each job application. A lot of people still don't know how to sell themselves.

Now, having a rich CV is one thing but being confident during the interview phase, is another thing.

I have put together an online course on Employability for Graduate youths that are actively job hunting. This is targeted to equip entry level applicants with important information on job readiness and successful job hunting.

This course is on a Facebook Group and upon payment of N4000, you will be given access to join and learn everything from CV Writing, Interviews, Workplace Skills and Etiquette, Volunteering etc from over 5 video sessions.

Interested people should click this link to sign up.
An email will be sent to you with payment and login details.

Let me help you prepare for your dream career.

Hello All,

Thank you for taking the time to share information on this topic.

I have a very unique case and I am seeking advice.

I want to attend a conference in Washington DC by December 3rd and I have to confirm attendance with the organising body by November 16 or they will withdraw the invite. Apparently, I have less than three weeks from now. By the way, they just sent me a congratulatory email, few days ago.

Another thing is, I am not employed with any company but I am a social media content creator. This implies that I am not gainfully employed and not financially bouyant.

I am getting sponsored to travel by friends and family and I have no intention of staying back after the two- day conference.

Now, I have budgeted a million naira for this, since the whole trip will take 5 days- less than a week.

So here is what I want to know:

1.In filling the form, how do I answer if I am employed or not?
2.How do I establish strong ties because, I am not even married and the only property I know, belongs to my parents?
3.Do I need to make a hotel reservationl before coming for the Visa Interview?
4. I intend to use Airbnb, does that pass for a hotel reservation?
5. What are the chances of someone that is self employed in this sense (social media) but can't prove it with CAC certificate, will be granted a B1 Visa?

I look forward to your timely response and rich counsel.

Thank you.
