FamilyRe: Why Do People Eat During Burial? by ubiR(op): 3:51pm On Jul 24, 2016
fav444:
my dear op, the burden in my heart about this issue can write a full book of a thousand pages. I lost my dad and uncle last year, and I can categorically explain this issue to u. The greed of people during burials is alarming, even the church is not helping matters. As soon as u tell them about a member's death, the next thing u will hear is "U can come later so that we will Check the register for u". Checking register means to calculate the amount of money the dead person is owning and must be cleared and to tell u what u will serve each group at the burial. This clearance must be done by all the members of the deceased family, failure to do this they will threaten not to bury the person. Do you know in my place they threaten people with "if you don't do this if you die the church won't come and bury u o ". Just imagine!!!

When people die u will hear the family say we use several tens of thousands for clearance.
it's not as if this dead people are strangers, they were their members o in fact of a good financial stand in terms of their dues and levies. But wat I can't understand is where all these new dues and levies jump out from as soon as one dies.

Sometimes, I wonder how judgement day will look like if those who claim to be devoted children of God behave this way.
As for me when my life on earth ends, am not interested in any greedy church burial. I prefer the money used to help the poor who are still alive.

I only pray to make heaven so that from my room's window in heaven I will watch how judgement will be like cos with the level of evil and deception in this world judgement day will sure be very interesting.

your thought is exactly what baffles me, an aunt of
mine died and the so-called register was checked
and they found out she didn't belong to any group
and they vehemently refused to bury her.
It is annoying, very very >:, a neighbor of mine lost
her uncle in law and the husband is busy preparing
for the burial and lamenting no money.NB the man
married and divorced and no one knows her
whereabout with his daughter.
Why can't we just bury people just like the Muslims
rather than call a large party, is it rice that one
hasn't eaten bf?

Uniforms are for easy identification. Or whatever.
souvenirs can never be used for remembered a dead person, they will spoil on the long run. Identification u say? is it very very necessary? let's be logical, a dead person isn't gonna come bk.

FamilyWhy Do People Eat During Burial? by ubiR(op):
Burial is a day set apart to say farewell to the remains of a dead person, but people today have turned it to something else. Are people suppose to cook, share souvenirs and wear uniforms during burials? where did this practice emanate from? Why are Nigerians good are emulating bad things? people spend huge sum of money burying a dead person, while the living have nothing to eat. Chai! I pray it stops someday, the practice is sickening.

Christianity EtcThe meaning of human life by ubiR(op): 11:55am On Jun 20, 2016
Our human life is more than being born, going to school, growing up, getting married, begetting our kind and then ultimately dying. If that's exactly why God placed us on this earth, then life is boring and completely meaningless. The old die, the young die, even new born babes who are yet to taste life all die without accomplishing what we call 'purpose'. From experience and understanding of the bible, our human life is more than been born and enjoying the goodies of life, we have same purpose. It involves our recognition of the One who created but was never created, who died that we might live again, we were placed here so that He can dispense His very life and being into us. He wants to come into man and make man God. Whatever good thing we have here on earth are privileges and not rights. He gave them so that our living here would be a happy one. Whether you live big or live small, the Lord wants it that way, whether u go through sufferings, its all for your transformation. Appreciate the Lord for whatever position you find yourself. People ask me why I don't act like I lost my 'seed' and I reply, "If God wanted me to have her, he would have done all to save her from the cruelty of man. All I have today is from the Lord, I haven't experienced what Job went through". I am a testimony.

HealthRe: How a hospital killed my daughter by ubiR(op): 10:14pm On Jun 14, 2016
twoondei:
Madam, I'm sorry about the whole incident.
What probably happened when you thought water was leaking from your body was consequent upon the prolonged infection.

The infection probably ascended and precipitated premature contractions. That explains it.

Everything that happened is traceable to the poorly treated vaginal infection you had. And that's a problem primarily with the antenatal care rather than the delivery care.

You know what to do in your next pregnancy, fly to the US.
Nigerian doctors are grossly incompetent and the competent ones have left.

Your child will be a citizen of the US and that's probably one of the best legacies you can leave for a child right now.
Not all can afford to travel out to deliver. I can only afford that in Nigeria.
HealthRe: How a hospital killed my daughter by ubiR(op): 9:47pm On Jun 14, 2016
Everyone seems to have a story to tell and eventually, the doctors and nurses get the blame.

Only one question. Were you advised to do a CS at any time during the labour?

Babies don't just die like that. The labour must have been prolonged and someone must have suggested a CS to you.

For How long had you been in labour before you were told yiur cervix was 4cm dilated?
For normal labour, dilatation should be about 1cm per hour in active phase. So fetal exhaustion 5hours after doesn't exactly add up. These things are on Google.

Again, a chronic vaginal discharge is a relative contraindication to spontaneous vaginal delivery.

The doctor definitely has questions to answer but it's only fair we hear his part of the story.

Sorry about the loss
I won't come here and rant over something I experienced. I was NEVER for once advised to do a CS never ever. I delivered a week to my due date. I went into labour around 11pm and got to the hospital by 12:30am , he checked me and said I was 4cm then checked me into the labour room and went to sleep including his nurses. My hubby was there when delivery was taken, he saw all that happened. I didnt even look like one in labour. I wanted to push by 4am but when Dr was called he came in around 4:45 am I was very much alert while all these was going on. I pushed for only 20mins of which I started at exactly 5:00am and she came out. He burst my water himself then went on to start preparing the things for delivery.
As for the infection when I got worse I began leaking as water would constantly drip frm my body, including discharge nd I had to mind how I went out to avoid embarrassment.
Everything happened so fast that morning
HealthHow a hospital killed my daughter by ubiR(op):
I just read in tears the story of a nairalander, how he lost his dad in LASUTH and decided to write my own story to enlighten people out there. I was made to believe that government hospitals aren't trustworthy when it comes to lives and hubby and I decided to register in a private hospital when I took in. After 4months of ante natal we had to relocate and the need for a change of hospital came up, although before that the hospital mis diagnosed my blood group. I am B- and I knew I was to take Rhogam injection after delivery. The hospital carried out the test twice and told me I am B+ but I never accepted it.
When we changed to the new private hospital at Okota, that was the first test they ran and my blood group was confirmed to be B- and when we looked around, they had all the facilities so we decided to settle for them
Fast forward to 3months later, I was 7months gone and I started showing signs of infection, I asked to be treated and the Dr who said he had 17 years medical experience asked me to buy Skineal and apply. I asked if he could give m drug he said it wasn't necessary. A month later the infection became worse and hubby had to go with me to request for treatment and that was when he gave me anti biotics and am insertion tablet and he asked me to come the next day for swab test. I got prepared and went, unknown to me, the nurse wanted to use am unsterilized instrument on me, it was the Dr who came and stopped the procedure and asked me to go home and the swab was cancelled saying they weren't ready. This was in my 36weeks, then we thought of changing hospital but to us we felt it was too late as they were the only ones with my medical history.
Well with all that happened I ended up losing my daughter at 39weeks during delivery. She was active before birth, the main Dr had travelled and his assistant was left to take the delivery. Him and the two nurses left me during labour after checking me and realised I had dilated to 4cm. After 5hours of labour my daughter came out weak and the Dr told us she had cord around her neck which caused her death of which we didn't believe till date. She was our first issue and above all the stitching wasn't properly done, I had to go to another hospital for that. Am glad i took the Rhogam and hopefully another will come.Till date the Dr never visited to show he cares ,kept giving excuses for not coming and I asked him not to bother coming after 6weeks. Its almost two months now and we have moved on. I wrote this to help others especially women please no matter how much it will cost u look for the best, although people ask why we didn't register in a government hospital, we still know its cos of the bad stories we hear daily. May the Lord deliver us from bad Drs that will cost us our lives.

I’m a Nigerian and have always lived in Nigeria. I was born in a rural community, had a traumatic childhood and started writing on my Nokia 6080 phone (because that was the only tech gadget I had) some 7 years ago. Fast-forward to today, I’m the CEO of a company that’s hit 6 figures U.S. dollars in its first year.

My company has worked on the marketing campaigns of companies like GetResponse, Hostgator, Shopify, Gumtree and Arvixe.

I and my company have also been featured on:

Entrepreneur Magazine: https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/274450

World Economic Forum: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2015/10/4-ways-big-data-can-improve-your-business

Not trying to sell you anything or telling you all these to brag. I’m creating this post in the hope that some of you may be inspired and know that it's possible to be Nigerian, live in Nigeria and use creativity and hard work to make a difference right here in Nigeria (or even globally).

Nothing extraordinary about me. I’m just an ordinary guy always looking to make a difference in extraordinary ways.

I’ve answered some of the most common questions I get asked in the above links when the publications interviewed me.

But if you’ve got any other questions not already covered, feel free to ask. I’ll do my best to answer them.
Can we interview you in our magazine?

whirlwind7:
What house owner is mean in this instance?

That you had dealings with an agent who wasn't forthcoming is not enough to make a general comment about house owners. Moreover, you have not even met with the landlord. You should know that many agents take certain decisions without consulting the landlord. All the info you've made available so far shows that even the landlord may not be in the know about the situation.

Have you got a receipt for the transaction?
Do you have a signed tenancy agreement detailing your status?

Let's begin from somewhere. At least you need some evidence if you are to embark on a civil/legal resolution. You may be far from getting a reprieve if you are yet to have a meeting with the landlord (or his legal representative) and agent at same moment.
We only have the house rent receipt and the agent have been turning us up and down in getting the tenancy agreement

Pls nairalanders, I need genuine and sincere solution. My hubby and I moved into a new apartment last year September. The place was under going reconstruction when we paid and the agent told us within three weeks it will be completed. NB: we searched for a place for months before we found this one and due to we didn't want to renew our rent in the old place, we had to move out. After 3weeks the place had not been finished and the agent started telling us stories even the flat had outstanding bill of which he told us he was on his way to pay. (Our fault was that we believed him as a very close friend of ours directed us to the place) we forceful moved into the place to avoid stories that touches the heart although by then we had started requesting they gave us back our money, of which was futile.
Up until now, this people haven't paid the outstanding bill of 261k. Prepaid meter has been brought to us and immediately the unit given finishes we are in darkness. Am due to deliver soon and I need the light seriously. We are hearing that the landlady abandoned the building and so tenants don't pay rent and she will ask them to leave without paying up, although before we moved in we asked around and they said the lady doesn't have any problem but now we hear stories about her. The light issue isn't peculiar to us alone, as two more people have paid but one hasn't moved in since Nov cos of the light issue and they don't want to pay them back their money. liefdesverhaal:
Once again, I am not asking for a validation from you. I shared a troubling heart in anonymous forum. I came here to seek other people opinion from their experiences and ways they deal with it.

And I specifically said before I am "infallible" hence the reason I came here for suggestion on the ways I can make it better.

She has her own concerns too but I am pointing the very basic that needs to be adjusted for us to have a functional home.
The marriage has started already and the most difficult thing to do in life is to delve into a marriage hoping the other spouse will change. You have made the grave mistake of marrying her because she was pregnant. I have no right to judge u, but if I have to, there are lots of issues to address. Firstly, since u have tried all you could and nothing seems to work ,why not try bring quiet about a lot of things. sometimes you stay on your own, take decisions and don't involve her, then see how she reacts. Am married and I know how it hurts if I find out my hubby bought something without discussing it with me. She might be different though but try it. Avoid third party in your marriage and above all, always prayer together as a family.
