I once lived in this kind of house in Mushin. 24 rooms, one prepaid meter, and a single toilet that everybody was expected to wash “after use” but nobody actually washed. The peak madness was when our landlord’s son installed one CCTV camera facing the corridor after too many slippers went missing. First night, light went and the whole building gathered to watch “playback” with phone torch. We caught Mama Sikiru’s goat chewing the wire, two teenagers kissing by the tank, and Uncle Emma sleepwalking with only a towel and chewing stick. By morning the camera itself had disappeared. Landlord asked who took it, and 15 tenants shouted in unison: “Na NEPA!”...Till I left the house, nobody knows if it was a person or NEPA spirit that stole the camera.

JWs don’t believe it. They do it because it is church doctrine and they are afraid of being shunned by their church. If you go to Reddit you will see that people who lost their children and loved ones because of such doctrine are getting ready to sue your church. Also, when every JW had rejected blood, they mentioned their doctrine as the reason why. Even if you try to remove the church from this false doctrine, it cannot escape the lawsuit that is coming.

Blood transfusion has saved millions of lives. Transfused blood as long as it’s same blood type as yours has never been rejected and it has made so many live a very long and healthy life.

The position of JW as far back as 26years ago was that it's up to individuals to decide how to use their blood in medical procedures.

You know your wife more than the public you are seeking their advice. If she's a family oriented person, sponsor her nursing career because of she lands a job the entire family will benefit because nurses can sponsor immediate families. Your Msc will make no sense to the family because you can neither secure a sponsorship job with it for yourself or your dependents. I'm speaking from experience because I'm in the system and I know that the uncertain UK immigration laws favor nurses and doctors who are well above RQF level6

This morning I woke up on the bright side, hopeful about starting my journey after NYSC.

I saw the notice about Kaduna Polytechnic and prepared myself fully. I borrowed ₦5,000 just for transport and photocopying, since they said we must bring 10 photocopies of all credentials. I printed my CV, wrote an application letter, and made 10 copies each of my NYSC certificate, statement of result, and other documents.

This was my first application after NYSC, so I gave it my all.

When I got to the Central Administrative Block, to my shock, they simply told me it was closed.

Just yesterday, there was no notice of any deadline. Today, I’m left stranded — transport wasted, photocopies wasted, money wasted.

Right now, I honestly feel depressed. I struggled to put this money together, only for everything to go down the drain without even getting the chance to submit.

Sometimes it feels like the system doesn’t care how much we struggle as young people trying to build our future.

I suggested, how? How exactly? And, by the way, in a thousand and one cases (the case I quoted inclusive), receiving blood transfusion when advised would buy a patient more time...whether metastatic cancer or not.

In our system, even though it's true that things are not optimal, in standard hospitals, blood transfusion is actually very, very safe. And, no, 70% of the cells are not dead or compromised as long as the procedure and handling of blood follow standardized protocols (which is what happens even in Nigeria).

Don't try to force a narrative that's distant from my initial post, please. This is exactly what you are attempting to do, and it's not a honest way to hold a conversation.

I'm even more amazed because you sound like a medical practitioner yet, you were silent on how unsafe blood screening and banking is especially in a lawless place with poor inftrastructure like Nigeria where in some cases over 70% of the cells in a pint of blood are dead or compromised due poor handling. Have'nt you seen patients who received timely blood transfussion and still passed?

That's how many of them have died, the wise ones do it secretly is the foolish one that don't, this is the same way a friend of mine lost his twin sister till tomorrow the guy has not set his eyes on his parents because of that he hates them with passion

While i respect the faiths of others, I am yet to see any sense in some of the things some people do because of faith. The court made the right move. Since the little girl can't give or refuse consent, let her receive the blood. When she's old enough, if such a situation arises again, she can then choose whether or not to accept blood.

I remember one JW patient I had. We were to operate her ovarian cyst which had twisted. She is a full-blown adult in her early twenties. Parents refused to consent for transfusion if need be. I personally counseled them, but they remained adamant. I somehow noticed that the girl was uneasy and scared. I targeted her...when the parents weren't around and I went back to talk to her. She said she didn't care, and would want to be transfused if need be..she just didn't want to OFFEND HER PARENTS. She consented behind their backs....but thankfully, we didn't need to transfuse.

I've also seen situations where some witnesses consent to blood transfusion secretly. One gave consent, but told us not to allow any visitor until we were done.

One guy, young boy. He had a cancer that had spread. He came to clinic paper-white pale. We immediately asked to admit and optimize him. He refused transfusion. After going back and forth, he finally accepted, but it was somehow too late. We lost him.

Religion, so far, has caused more harm than good, I think.

It's so interesting to learn than blood transfusion can gurantee that a dying patient will live.
