*Clapback From Ethelbert Nwokorie to Geoffrey Onyeama on Abba Kyari* response; This man is part of the problems of the Igbos in Abba Kyari/Buhari's Nigeria. He was this close to Abba Kyari who he said took all the bullets for Buhari and was loyal to Buhari to a fault, yet he could not intercede for his people (Igbos) to stop the python dance that killed hundreds of young Igbo sons, he could not intercede to stop the killing of IPOB members across the South East. He could not plead to his "angel" Kyari to include the South East in the plan for the failed $22.7 billion loan which his "angel" was in charge of. He was this much friendly with "angel Abba Kyari" yet South East is suffering unprecedented marginalisation and humiliation in a government his best friend was the surrogate president, and he feels proud to talk about his friendship with Abba Kyari. The fact that he gained some personal benefits from his friendship with Abba Kyari in this government by his appointment as a foreign affairs minister does not and cannot wash off Abba Kyari's evil deeds against innocent Nigerians. Is Geoffrey Onyema unaware that Abba Kyari can stop the killings by Fulani herdsmen if he was not sympathetic to the course of the Fulani's, why didn't he use his friendship with Abba Kyari to make peace and stop the killings by Fulani's across the country? But Geoffrey Onyema was blinded by the perks and privileges of his friendship with Abba Kyari. Now he wants to convince people who have suffered the brutish nature of Abba Kyari to see him in the same lens he (Geoffrey Onyema) saw him. Please minister Geoffrey Onyema spare us your knowledge of Abba Kyari's "angelic" nature and quietly enjoy the perks and privileges of your ministerial position, which is the proceed of your friendship with Abba Kyari. ~copied from Eziokwu Bu Ndu |

LOCAL RICE PRODUCTTION IS A FRAUD. Nigeria do not have a comparative advantage in rice production. Our yield per hecter is about 1.1 ton while countries like Thailand, Vietnam etc have yield per hecter of between 5 to 6 tonnes. We can invest in things like Cassava and Sesame seed of which we are the highest producers in the world. The foreign exchange from this will be enough to import rice without harming the economy. Majority of rice farmers in the north are defaulting on loans because they simply can't compete with the cheaper smuggled brands. The subsidy on rice production is over 170bn which is more than the budget of health and education combined. The politics of local rice production may sound patriotic but its unsustainable as its based on fraud. |
Myde4naija:Oga pls help us understand the maths better. (1) 1 bag is 50kg (2) 10 bags = 500kg (3) 20 bags = 1000kg (which is 1 ton) (4) 30 bags = 1,500kg ( which is 1.5,tonnes) Please prove me wrong. |

Treasury Bill and government bonds remains the most risk-free investment that the PFAs can do. If in the quest of cheaper foreign loans, the cbn decides to shut off PFAs, then ultimately the RoI for Nigerian pensioners will seriously be affected. My take is that the pencom law should be relaxed to enable the PFAs lend to farmers with interest in palm oil, sesame seed and cassava (and definitely not riice as our yield per hecter in rice production are among the lowest in the world) this loan has to be guaranteed by CBN or the borrowers asset. I also think that the outcry over the over 5trillion already borrowed to fund budget was part of the basis for the CBN decision. |

White wedding is also a traditional marriage of the whites. The Christian obligation is to obey Ceasar according to Romans 13:1. And what does Ceasar require - simply put, register your marriage at government approved marriage registry. Church wedding is not found any where in the bible, instead the Jewish people practiced traditional marriage. All these borrow borrow culture has not helped Africa yet we can't learn because we don't read Bible. Check out my signature for original Exide Inverter Batteries. |

Interview with Kenyan scientist who developed Hiv-Aids cure What are you doing about HIV/AIDs? My experiences with patients living with HIV/AIDS made me re-examine my career goals and sparked my strong interest in HIV therapeutics. My research topic was on Long-Acting Slow Effective Release Antiretroviral Therapy (Laser Art). The aim of my research is to create sequential long-acting slow-effective release antiviral therapy to facilitate HIV and hepatitis B prevention and treatment strategies. This work has now led to the first cure of HIV in an animal model of human infection and could provide lifesaving cures for millions of human patients around the world. We are also developing imaging technologies that would allow us to visualise disease spread and distribution of medicines into different parts of the body without the need for performing surgical procedures. Such technologies will enable the development of better treatments. What were the challenges you encountered during the research? My ideas were rejected since I was proposing to do the opposite of what many had been doing in the field for decades. I persisted and reduced them into experiments. To make the long story short, the ideas are now a foundation of our research program and are a part of the first cure of HIV infection in an animal model of the disease. I also hold 13 US patent applications on the same ideas. Compared to ARVs, how effective is Laser Art? While regular ARVs have been successful in controlling HIV replication, the virus is able to hide in tissues and cells where most of these medicines have limited access. Laser Art is designed to deliver effective amounts of medicines into inaccessible parts of the body. It also simplifies medicine administrations and as such reduces viral transmission, prevent new infections, and limit the emergence of viral drug resistance and systemic toxicities/side effects. For instance, regular ARVs require patients to take 365 doses a year. Laser Art will enable two doses or a single dose a year. Perhaps of most significance is our collaborative work is demonstrating the first complete elimination of HIV-1 in a humanised mouse model of the disease using a combination of Laser Art and gene editing technologies. What can the Kenyan universities learn from western universities? We need continuous investment in research and development as theoretical knowledge-based learning alone will not solve our problems. We have some of the best minds at our local universities, who need support from the government to promote innovation and economic growth. What sparked your interest in medicinal chemistry? After completing my high school studies at Mbale High School, I enrolled in an undergraduate degree in chemistry at Moi University, Chepkoilel Campus (currently University of Eldoret) in 2005 and later a Masters in chemistry from the same university. As I was finalising my Masters coursework, one of my lecturers, who is also now my mentor, Prof Samuel Lutta encouraged me to apply for a PhD programme abroad that is how I ended up at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the United States. My interest in medicinal chemistry had begun when I was an undergraduate student, but unfortunately, there was limited scientific research at our local institutions. Joining LSU was one of the biggest turning points in my training. Not only did LSU fund my PhD studies, but I was also afforded an opportunity to train in a collaborative multi-cultural environment with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. What does medicinal chemistry entail and how important is it? Medicinal chemistry encompasses development of new medicines that improve and eventually save lives. It is a field that merges many scientific disciplines such as biological and pharmaceutical sciences. What was your experience studying in the US? There are major differences between the programs in the US and the Kenyan ones. I found that the ones abroad offer high-quality graduate-level training to students that prepares them for life beyond college. There is also a lot of investment in research. Some of the courses, like the one you studied are being scrapped because of their lack of competitiveness in the market. How do you feel about this? Change is good, but we need to ask ourselves what have we done or are doing to promote and/or strengthen teaching, research and development in our local universities. There are many challenges that could be transformed into opportunities to provide local solutions and create jobs. Scrapping off the courses alone will not solve our problems. The good news is that we have competent and qualified faculty members at our local institutions, who require proper tools to improve the quality of education offered at our universities. |

The Telegraph Mother wrongly diagnosed with breast cancer has double mastectomy before doctors realise their mistake share Sarah Boyle was unable to breast feed her second child thanks to the treatment Sarah Boyle was unable to breast feed her second child thanks to the treatment Henry Bodkin 19 JULY 2019 • 4:52 PM Amother who was wrongly diagnosed with breast cancer underwent a double mastectomy and chemotherapy before the NHS hospital realised its mistake. Sarah Boyle has been left traumatised after doctors at Royal Stoke University Hospital misdiagnosed her with triple negative breast cancer at the end of 2016. The hospital only recognised the error several months later in July 2017, by which time the 28-year-old had already received several rounds of gruelling treatment and major surgery. The mother of two also had to cope with the knowledge that the breast implants may put her at added risk of developing cancer. Her lawyers said the mistake occurred because a biopsy sample was incorrectly recorded. Mrs Boyle has suffered psychological trauma as a result the ordeal and also continues to endure ongoing symptoms caused by the unnecessary treatment. She was initially told that her cancer treatment may harm her fertility. The patient was ultimately able to have a second child, who is now seven months old, but she was unable to breastfeed him due to the treatment. The trust has since admitted liability and apologised to Mrs Boyle, although legal proceedings are continuing. "The past few years have been incredibly difficult for me and my family,” she said. "Being told I had cancer was awful, but then to go through all of the treatment and surgery to then be told it was unnecessary was traumatising. "And while I was delighted when I gave birth to Louis, it was really heartbreaking when I couldn't breastfeed him.” "As if that wasn't bad enough, I am now worried about the possibility of actually developing cancer in the future because of the type of implants I have and I am also worried about complications that I may face because of my chemotherapy.” Mrs Boyle worries her breast implants may increase her future cancer risk CREDIT: SWNS The case emerged weeks after health chiefs warned that 11,000 patients a year may be dying as a result of NHS blunders. A new strategy was unveiled last month with an aim of saving 1,000 lives a year within five years by ensuring all staff, however, junior, are trained to act if they spot risks. Mrs Boyle was aged 25 when she was misdiagnosed. She was later informed by her treating doctor, Mr Sankaran Narayanan, that her biopsy had been incorrectly reported and that she did not have cancer. Sarah Sharples, from Irwin Mitchell solicitors, which is representing Mrs Boyle, said: "This is a truly shocking case in which a young mother has faced heartbreaking news and a gruelling period of extensive treatment, only to be told that it was not necessary. "The entire experience has had a huge impact on Sarah in many ways. "While we welcome that the NHS Trust has admitted to the clear failings, we are yet to hear if any improvements have been put in place to prevent something like this happening again. "We are also deeply concerned following reports surrounding the type of implants Sarah has, with suspicions over their potential link to a rare form of cancer. A spokesman from the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust said: “A misdiagnosis of this kind is exceptionally rare and we understand how devastating this has been for Sarah and her family. He added: “Ultimately the misreporting of the biopsy was a human error so as an extra safeguard all invasive cancer diagnoses are now reviewed by a second pathologist.” The trust said it had shared the findings of its investigation with Mrs Boyle. © Telegraph Media Group Limited 2019 |

Chinelo Obogo Two former close associates of Biodun Fatonyinbo, the senior pastor of Common Wealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) have spoken out in support of Busola Dakolo after she made allegations of rape against him. Pastor Busola Olotu of Daughters of Deborah International Ministry, Ilorin and Reverend Emmanuel Oset of Canan Ministry, Ilorin, both of whom were close associates of Fatoyinbo, have said they have had to interact with many women who had made similar accusations against him while he was still in Ilorin. Speaking on Arise Television, Olotu said she was first made aware of the rape incident in 2011 when Busola’s elder sister told her that Biodun had allegedly raped her. Olotu said that from her interaction with Busola and the fact that three other women had made similar allegations against him, she knew that the allegations were true. “I have known Fatoyinbo and his wife for many years and I was like a spiritual mentor to him while he was in Ilorin. In 2011, Funmi Ayeni, my spiritual daughter told me that her younger sister, Busola, was raped by Fatoyinbo. I was shocked because I could not reconcile the allegations to the person I knew. But when I spoke to Busola on phone, I could feel her pain and trauma and I knew she was speaking the truth. “Sometime after that, I had a dream and I saw Fatoyinbo in that dream in bed with a woman who was not his wife and I confronted him in the dream and he told me that God’s grace was protecting him. “After that, I went to meet his father in the Lord, Rev Oset and told him about my dream and he said did it mean that Biodun hadn’t stopped what he was doing? It was then I knew that he had done similar things in the past,” Olotu said. After she narrated her experience, Oset confirmed that Olotu told him about the dream she had about Fatonyinbo and said he had also had to wade in, in the past when similar allegations were brought against Fatonyinbo. Oset confirmed that after Fatonyibo started his church, he reached out to him to pray for him and he became his spiritual father but said he had to end their relationship after allegations of adultery were levelled against him (Fatonyinbo) in 2013 by Ese Walters, a former member of his church. “I had been Fatonyibo’s spiritual mentor for years and have had to wade in when similar allegations were made against him. I investigated and the evidence against him was overwhelming but at the end, he promised that he would change. “I had to cut off from him after a member of his church accused him in 2013 of having an extra marital affair. When that incident happened, I called him and told him that I wanted us to talk, but he kept avoiding me for many months. From August 2013 to April 2014, I kept putting pressure on him to come so we could discuss the issue but he avoided me. So I had to write him a letter telling him that I was no longer interested in being his mentor,” Oset said. |

graceajunwa:Canadian immigration will not give u visa to go to Canada as an unskilled worker. There is simply no program like that. If the scammer eventually succeeds in getting u a visa, you will still be turned back by the entry clearance officer at the border. What I suspect is that the guy may get u a visa for vacation and then arrange for you to work illegally as an unskilled labourer. .My brother if you can't follow the express entry format, better chill here and train your kids. This kind of arrangement is good for someone on the ground in naija without job, skill or hope. Not for an employed and responsible family man. |
