rukyboy:Where in UK? Is it in England, Scotland, Wales or N.Ireland? In what City exactly? |
There's nothing like £2k in UK just like there's nothing like 500k in Naija. UK is made up of 4 different countries with many cities, towns and villages. In Glasgow, Scotland where I live, £2k can pay my rent, pay my council tax and electric bills (I don't use gas) feed my family of 5, buy my monthly bus ticket, pay my phone and house internet bills and I will still have small savings. Unlike England, I don't have to pay for prescriptions, children under 22 don't pay for public transport, primary school kids eat free. All excursions within the city are paid for by the council. So make your comparison specific. |
A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu has ordered the police to evict the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, from the palace he is occupying along the State Road in the Nasarawa area of the state. The court, which gave the order on Monday, also issued an interim injunction restraining Bayero and four other dethroned emirs from parading themselves as emirs, pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice filed by applicants. The judge gave the ruling as the state government appealed to President Bola Tinubu to move the deposed 15th Emir of Kano from the state. The state Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam, during a press conference on Monday, said Bayero’s presence in Kano posed a threat to the peace and stability cherished by its people. Did You Know A Tribe That Restricts Population? 0:06 / 1:01 The state House of Assembly had on Thursday repealed the Kano Emirates Council Law which divided Kano into five emirates. Amid the crisis caused by the new emirates, the 14th emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was dethroned by Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration. Upon the repeal of the law on Thursday, the state Governor, Abba Yusuf, signed the new law and sacked the five Emirs. The sacked Emirs include Aminu Ado Bayero (Kano); Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero (Bichi), Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa (Rano), Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II (Karaye), and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir (Gaya). While the other four emirs complied with the directive, the deposed Emir of Kano, who was not in the city, returned and headed for the palace at the Nasarawa area. On Friday, it was reported that Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court granted an order filed by the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate, Aminu Agundi, stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law which dethroned the five emirs in the state. But the state government ignored the order and went ahead with Sanusi’s reinstatement even as the governor threatened to report the judge to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum for granting the order. He claimed that the judge granted the order while he was in the United States. Miffed by Bayero’s return to the mini-palace in Nassarawa, the governor ordered the arrest of the deposed monarch but the police authorities said they would enforce the court order. Ruling on an exparte application by counsel to the applicants, Ibrahim Isa Wangida, the state high court on Monday restrained the deposed emirs from parading themselves as emirs. The applicants are the Attorney General of Kano State, the Speaker House of Assembly and the Kano State House of Assembly. The respondents in the matter are the deposed emirs of Karaye, Gaya, Bichi, Rano, and Kano, the Inspector General of Police; the Director of the Department of State Services, the Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The court document dated May 27, 2024, reads, “That order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th defendants either by themselves, servants, privies, and or any other persons or officers serving under them or acting in connection with any other person from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed by the applicants. “That an order is hereby granted to the extent that the Commissioner of Police Kano State should immediately take the palace of the Emir of Kano situated being and lying at State Road Kano and evict the 1 Defendant/Respondent from the said palace pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated 24th May 2024. “That an order of this honourable court is hereby granted restraining the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th & 5th Defendants from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye in the interest of peace in Kano pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. https://punchng.com/emirate-tussle-court-orders-bayeros-eviction-kano-says-deposed-emir-a-threat/ |
Jackanda1:You don't need to struggle with it. The answer is clear in the bible, the 1st set of sinners were punished with death (Genesis 3:19) not eternal torment in fire. The lake of fire spoken about as the reward for sinners means they will not exist again when God brings paradise, even death and grave will be cast into same fire meaning it won't exist anylonger ((Rev 21:14) then death will be no more (Rev 21:4) the two last scriptures mean the same thing, "cast into fire" "will be no more" they all correspond with the punishment for Adam which is death. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 shows the dead feel no pain. So they simply will not exist anylonger. The origin of eternal torment in hell is from Satan the Devil who told eve in Genesis 3:4-5 that they will not die after God said they will die - Geneis 3: 3 |

Following the controversies surrounding the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), TB Joshua, as reported by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Multichoice DStv has notified viewers of its choice to discontinue the broadcast of the religious TV network, Emmanuel TV, established by the deceased clergyman, on channel 390. According to the message on screen, it will take effect from January 17th, 2024. A notification on DStv conveyed: “Dear viewer, please note that Emmanuel TV will exit on the 17th of January 2024. Thank you for watching.” Beyond parting ways with MultiChoice, it has been reported that Emmanuel TV will also discontinue on StarSat and various others. This is coming amid a controversial three-part documentary produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), which alleged atrocities and sexual crimes committed against the late TB Joshua towards his disciples. The Nation reported that BBC embarked on a historic investigation about the late preacher and his church, interviewing at least 30 alleged former members and workers of the SCOAN. https://thenationonlineng.net/alleged-scandals-multichoice-to-exit-tb-joshuas-emmanuel-tv-from-dstv-gotv-january-17/ |

U.S. court orders Chicago university to release Bola Tinubu’s records to Atiku Abubakar with immediate effect, certify authenticity under oath Nigerian opposition leader Atiku Abubakar has landed a major victory in the United States as part of his ongoing push to demonstrate Bola Tinubu’s ineligibility to be Nigeria’s president. A federal court in Chicago ruled on Tuesday night that Chicago State University (CSU) must turn over all records relating to Mr Tinubu to Mr Abubakar within two days, saying the former vice-president has been able to sufficiently satisfy the purpose for seeking the records, according to the ruling seen by Peoples Gazette. Felimax:Did they arrest the person who made the allegation? Are you a court to decide if the allegation is true or false? Ogbeni, do not support illegality because it could be your turn tomorrow. |
abibun:With the kind of thoughts expressed here, you dont need to wonder why we can never get it right. According to him, the poor boy should "provide evidence" for his brother's allegation. Hatred is worse than sepsis, it paralysis ones thinking ability so much so that emotions and not reason becomes your reality, what a shame. |
richie240:... Ogbeni, you support that someone should be arrested in place of another ? This is the simple reason why we are where we are. |
I will never support a false allegation against anyone whether a government official or a private citizen but I'm really amazed at the number of people on this thread supporting the persecution of a citizen because of his brother's alleged libelous publication. Moreso pronouncing the author guilty without hearing and judgement from a court of competent jurisdiction is as pathetic as it is primitive, it does'nt make you any better than the purveyors of fake news. No wonder the rest of the world do not take us serious. We cannot make progress till we condemn evil even if its perpetrated by our mother. |
Throwback:Oga, no teaching hospital in Nigeria has a Pet Scan. The Linear accelerators in government hospitals are either outdated or not functional. That money can buy at least 2 new PET scan to diagnose cancer and curb medical tourism. Charity should begin at home |
