Kiss Daniel remembers traumatizing childhood memories in sharp contrast with the success he has attained since he made his debut into the Nigerian music scene.



The singer took to his Instagram page today, June 25, 2016, to share a photo of himself as a baby, as he recalled a saddening memory from his childhood.

Making reference to a time when himself and his family lived in a rat infested house, Daniel was sure to thank God for his journey so far.

After last generation's missteps, the Honda Civic again becomes the car to beat

I’ve wanted to get in the new Civic for a long time. It was worth the wait. It’s comfortable, quiet, quick and, based on previous Civics, should last forever. Speaking of previous, can you believe the Civic is 43 years old? Wow!



This is the 10th generation and the first Civic developed with teams from the U.S., Japan, Europe and South America, Honda says. It’s 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider than the outgoing car. At 182 inches long, it’s 7 inches longer than the first Accord. But I digress.

Under the hood is a sweetheart of an engine -- Honda-smooth, power aplenty, and an even rev range. Yeah, you have to rev it a bit to get to the “power aplenty” part but nothing crazy. The CVT is standard and it’s fine -- in Sport mode. In normal mode it’s obviously less, uh, sporty, but I never felt like I was holding up traffic. Put it that way.

Indeed, for the most part, this car is a joy to wheel around town. It’s solid and calm, like a bigger, more expensive car (the sticker is quite a bit lower than I was expecting). Body control is excellent, and I love this steering -- nice and direct. Doors thunk shut like German cars used to, probably one reason I was surprised at the sticker. It looks like the interior got a material upgrade with s-fter touch plastics on the dash and door panels. Very nice.

Honda has a winner here. Civics have been top-10 sellers for as long as I can remember. I don’t see that changing with the 10th-gen.

The Honda Civic got a new attitude! After dropping some weight, adding better materials to the interior and improving fuel economy the Civic demands even more attention than it already gets.

There are a few nasty potholes on my way home from work, and the Civic stayed steady and secure as I traveled over the craters. Turns were smooth and braking was strong, increasing my confidence on the road.

Well equipped, this EX Civic sedan has a backup camera, heated seats, a new infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android auto and tons of space. I needed to use it to move a bunch of stuff and was afraid its size was going to be a problem, but the Civic exceeded my expectations. I was able to fit three big boxes in the trunk and a chair across the backseat.

Wes said power was good, but it doesn’t pick up nearly as fast as I would like it to. I felt like I was lagging behind other cars on the expressway, and then all of a sudden the sedan would get a boost of energy as the transmission did its thing. Also, the road noise is noticeable -- I guess that's the price you pay for the responsive chassis and suspension.

American airspace agency has reported a recent discovery of life on mars ,which could be aliens.

I can’t stop thinking "Beetlejuice" when I see or hear about this car. It just rolls of the tongue. “Beetledune, Beetledune, Beetledune.” You have to say it three times for it to appear. It’s one of those cars that I expected not to like, but was pleasantly surprised. Would I ever buy one? No, but I’d never buy a Beetle in general. They're just not for me. But the Dune has some really nice qualities.



The powertrain has plenty of get-up to move this Bug around. Shifts come from a traditional torque converter automatic transmission, and not VW's DSG dual-clutch gearbox, so they’re only mildly quick. The car will get up to speed without a problem, but you’ll have to put the pedal to the floor to pass.

The steering is a little rubbery and the thin steering wheel feels like a wire hanger in my fingertips; a thicker wheel would be preferrable. The Dune has a little taller ride height than the rest of the Beetle lineup as well, and I think it might be sprung a little softer, too.

The Dune's gold-and-black paint scheme actually looks impressive in the sun. I liked the yellow GSR that we had a few years ago better, because it channeled the Super Beetle. The VW and Turbo logos on the back are kinda cool, though.

Nigeria’s Makoko Floating School, an experimental three-story schoolhouse, has collapsed under the stress of a severe rainstorm, according to Reuters.

The three-story, A-frame building was first constructed in 2013 as model for new building techniques that could be used in places like the sprawling Lagos neighborhood of Makoko, where most of the buildings rest on stilts above the shallow Lagos Lagoon. Prior to the creation of the floating school, local kids only had access to a single school, built on solid ground, that was constantly flooded. The floating school was built out of local materials, and was designed to float on hundreds of plastic barrels to keep it above the fluctuating water level. The actual classrooms were located on the second and third floors, giving them a measure of extra protection as well.

Chevron has been forced shut down oil production at its Escravos terminal in Nigeria following an attack by militants, the second time in recent weeks that violence has impacted the oil giant's facility in the Niger Delta region.



A militant group called the Niger Delta Avengers, which has told oil firms to leave the oil-rich delta before the end of May, said late on Wednesday that it had blown up the onshore facility's main electricity feed.

"It is a crude line which means all activities in Chevron are grounded," a Chevron source told Reuters on Thursday, without elaborating.

The Avengers posted a message on Twitter claiming responsibility for the attack.

A Chevron spokeswoman in the United States said on Thursday that it was against policy to comment on the safety and security of personnel and operations.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has produced over one million national identity cards, out of which it has issued 300,000, the Director-General of the commission, Mr Aliyu Aziz, has said.Aziz, who made the disclosure in an interview in Abuja on Thursday, said over 750,000 had yet to be collected.



He said in spite of the commission’s constraints, including limited funding and production capacity, it had made remarkable progress in its assignment.

According to him, the commission is exploring avenues to expand its capacity to be able to deliver faster and more efficiently.

“You may recall that we started card production and issuance in 2014 through a mini card personalisation bureau set up as part of intervention to meet the identity needs of the public.

The couple have been married for nine (9) years and blessed with two kids, a boy and a girl.

The man however said although he had suspected his wife of infidelity, he never knew the evidence would hit his face in that dramatic manner.

“My wife and I have been having some marital problems for sometime now based on her recent amorous relationship with other men, and over her constant nagging and reluctancy to pick the kids from school and take care of them in her shop- which is even closer to the school”, he recalled.

He explained that the wife “never accepted her fault or explained to me peacefully even when caught redhanded with men in very uncompromising situations at odd times. Due to this, family heads and Counselors advised that we seperated for a while due to her violent attitude whenever there was a little problem while the two families put heads together to resolve the issues”.

Giving a vivid recollection of what happened on that fateful morning of Saturday May 7, 2016, Mr Adjei said “at about 6:30am, I had left my hideout to the house to go and pack my belongings from the house, since my wife and I had earlier agreed that our EMEFS Estate rent had expired, and due to some financial challenges we would rather relocate into a much affordable appartment instead of renewing the rent again”.

But the wife, he said, later recinded her decision, but rather claimed she had an uncle who said he would pay the rent for her to stay in the EMEFS appartment all by herself without the husband.

According to him, he went with a carpenter to help him fix and change some of the locks where necessary before he finally packed out since “she said she would stay in the house with her so-called uncle of a benefactor, till the families resolve the issues”.

“I greeted and entered the house as the man of the house and walked straight to our master-bedroom to knock on our bedroom door. But as I knocked for some minutes without any response at all, I then decided to push the door to see what was wrong with my wife in there, because her sister had already confirmed that she was inside” he recalled.

“As soon as I pushed the door opened, my wife rushed out to push it back aganst me! Wow, what is happening here- I wondered at her attitude? This gave me the idea to suspect that something fishy was definitely going on in the room, because of my past suspicion. I decided to force the door open to enter at all cost. I then forced the door back on her, and lo and behold, here was a thick-tall dark man Unclad on my own matrimonial bed with my wife in my room! How else could a man be traumatized in his life than this?” he lamented.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos,nigeria has ordered ex Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Federal Government to give account of how N30 trillion that accrued to government during the last four years of the former President Goodluck Jonathan's administration was managed.‎

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba ‎said the former minister of finance and the Federal Government should have made the requested information available about the money or given reasons why it could not be obliged within the stipulated period in conformity with the Freedom of Information Act.‎ ‎

‎A civil rights group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP)‎ through its Deputy Director, Olukayode Majekodunmi, made the judgement delivered last week, available to journalists in a statement at the weekend, saying it embarked on the suit, tagged: FHC/L/CS/196/2015, ‎following the revelations by the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, that at least N30 trillion "has either been stolen or unaccounted for, or grossly mismanaged over the last few years under the watch of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.‎

Counsel to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Paul Usoro, SAN, on Tuesday said there is no evidence linking Saraki to the property the Federal Government is accusing him of not declaring.

Usoro put up the argument during the cross examination of an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Michael Wetkas, who is a principal witness in the ongoing trial.

According to Usoro, “There is no evidence before this tribunal that as at 2008 the defendant was in possession of the property of 15a Macdonald Street, Ikoyi Lagos.”

Usoro explained that contrary to Wetkas earlier statement, as at 2008, Tiny Tee, a company owned by Saraki was not in possession of the property.

Wetkas had earlier told the tribunal that the Senate President during his assets declaration of 2008 did not declare the property of 15a Macdonald Street Ikoyi, Lagos.

The witness had said “Our findings shows that 15a and b MacDonald Street, Ikoyi Lagos property is the same as blocked 15 flat a and b MacDonald Street Ikoyi Street, Lagos.

“The letter from the Presidential Implementation committee on Sales of Government Properties did not tell us that 15a and b existed separately.”

Another month, another climate worry.This year the Earth experienced the warmest April on record, keeping 2016 on track to be the hottest year yet and by the biggest margin ever.



New data released by NASA put this April's land and sea temperatures at 1.11 degrees Celsius warmer than average April temperatures between 1951 to 1980, which NASA uses as a reference point to study recent climate change.
