The zoning of 2019 VP ticket to South East is an insult to the Great Igbo Nation. My fellow NdiIgbo, let us teach the ungrateful PDP a lesson in 2019 and stand behind APGA: PETER OBI 2019 APGA. (he is planning to return to the party) Even if he loses, atleast the Igbo Nation will send out a strong signal that in 2019, We Voted and Stood behind APGA and build our own party. If we do that, Another strong party will come to woo APGA for a merger. PETER OBI APGA 2019 For PRESIDENT

Culture › Re: Igbos Have No King by Udmaster(m): 7:48pm On Mar 11, 2016 |
Kenmatt: You said "the oldest Kingdom in Nigeria history is NRI Kingdom and it is an Igbo Kingdom".
IGBOS HAVE NO KING There is nothing like a kingdom or Igbo kingdom. Igbos have no centralised ruler. The Eze NRI you are talking about is believed to be a son of an ansestral father; NRI him self, whose name was Eri. Eri or Nri is an ancestral father of all Igbos and not a King. Some of his son then were Awkuzu, Nando, Nteje, and son on. I will elaborate on this on the next topic.
So therefore, NRI is an ancestral home of all Igbos but Eze NRI is not a King of all Igbo. Igbos as a whole do not practice monarchical system of rulership. It was Eri that was an ancestral father of all Igbos. what kind of dumb analysis is this, A big tribe do not have a central king, do yorubas have a central king. Do Ooni of Ife rule over the Oyo people who have an Alaafin? Do Emir of Kano rule over the Sokoto people? So what do you mean by centralized king? - Nri is a kingdom and the oldest in Nigeria, the records are there. I hate arguing with people with no intellectual capacity ... WE ARE IGBOS AND PROUD.. Nri is the center of Igbo civilization - deities, foods, soups, counting our market days, festival, beauty etc. |
Culture › Re: Igbos Have No King by Udmaster(m): 4:37pm On Mar 11, 2016 |
Kenmatt: I salute you all.
I have been fallowing the verbal battle of supremacy among the Yoruba Kings. I find it interesting, not only interesting but also educating.
Yoruba is one among the three major ethnic groups in Nairaland.
As it is in Yoruba land, so it is in Hausa land. But the different is clear in Igbo land.
I stand to be challenged by any body, any where.
Igbos have no centralised king. Right from the out set, till date. This was the cogent reason the east was very difficult for the white men to colonise during the pre colonial rule. When they got to Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Gwandu, Emir of Kano, Oba of Benin, Alafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, after convincing them, they would gather their subjects, and their subjects would yield to their persuasions and concur. Thereby making it easy to conquer the people even with their minds.
It was not easy for them in the East because no centralised King in the East. Born out of my perspective, it was the "sturburness" the white men saw in Easterners during that period that degenerated into the so called "hatred" by the British men to the Easterners till date. Believe it or not.
There is a popular saying; Igbo enwe Eze". Meaning; Igbos do not and can never have King. Thus; a central king.
The so called "Eze ndi Igbo" you hear they attach to some names is just like a nick name or to shower encomium on him. Igbos have no king.
The community chiefs, village heads and even the so called town Ezes, can not give an order to the entire community and every one will stick to it. This is to show you how less their powers are. To be compared with when Ooni of Ife, Oba of Benin or Emir of Kano has given an instructions to his subordinates.
Its all good. Igbos mixed Royalty with a democratic style which is build around Individualism. IGBOS HAVE PRE-COLONIAL KINGDOMS BUT THEY ARE FEW. 1) The Oldest Kingdom in Nigeria history is NRI KINGDOM and it is an Igbo kingdom. Eze Nri Enwealana II Onyeso CFR is the custodian of Igbo Culture, Tradition and Deities, he does not come out all the time, because he is seen as a half mortal. Even the Ancient Benin empire related well with the Nri Kingdom. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Nri
2. Nnewi Kingdom- it was formed around 1408AD and Igwe Kenneth Orizu JP is the 20th IGWE NNEWI and a respect monarch among Igbos. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igwe_of_Nnewi_kingdom
3. Enugwu Aguleri - It is as old as the Nri Kingdom. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enugwu_Aguleri
4. AROCHUKWU Confederacy- Found in Abia state, it was est. Around 1700 and they were well known for ancient slave trade. Eze Aro Mazi Okoro- respected very well in Abia State. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arochukwu... Obi of Onitcha is also respected. Igbo Monarchs are matured and you will see them in media arguing over irrelevant things. |

am not igbo but the emboldened is typically correct...u will certainly make more enemies and u wont progress yes, have you seen politicians using the word Igbo, Yoruba, hausa etc all the time? These are not political terms; its traditional. Rather they will use South east, South west, North etc to express their point. |

Yorubas here are shedding tears over this thread @TonyeBarcanista. The mistake you made was mixing Igbo with Ipobs. Your stand that you are not an Ipob is Valid, I am an Igbo guy and I am not an Ipob too. - Dearpreye is ur fellow ijaw man, He is not an Ipob but you will not find him in this whole Igbo vs Ijaw enemity you wanted to grow.. He is a strong voice for a federalism and that is the stand 80% of Igbos want. FEDERALISM. - An upcoming politician should not be toying through ethnic or tribal line. |

@InovativeCritic IGBO Enwe Eze is a word misinterpreted and misunderstood! IGBOS had monarchies even b4 the coming of the white man and also mixed it up with a democracy style with Ndi Ichie as senators. - The Oldest Kingdom in Nigeria history is NRI KINGDOM founded by IGBOS and ruled by Eze Nri. Nri is the birthplace of Igbo Civillization(IGBO UKWU) Eze Nri Enwealana II Onyeso, CFR is the current and reigning Eze Nri and custodian of Igbo Culture, Religion and Deities. .... - Aro, Nnewi, Aguleri, Onitcha are Pre colonial Igbo Kingdoms. - We practise both Monarchy and also Democratic style even before the white man came. |
